Kind of a cramped, antique kind of feel when you step inside. Would recommend a remodel or refresh. Tried the chicken breast gyro for $10 and it wasn't great, but the yellow tinted chicken was decent. As mentioned in many reviews, the lettuce was not fresh and the pita itself was a bit old and chewy. The cook or owner also was talking to the cashier while my food was cooking or finished cooking.. Stick to your job buddy.

Updated my review. Have not been here in a while. Ordered dinner for offspring and myself. I had the the lamb gyro. Offspring had chicken tenders and the Italian beef sandwich plus two orders of Greek fries. Large portions, excellent flavors and great value given the state of everything. Place is clean and excellent service. Put this one on your list and let's support small local business.

Quite possibly the worst take out experience I have ever had. We ordered a falafel sandwich with rice & a chicken Philly with rice, to-go. We just moved up here to this area of Phoenix from downtown, so we have been trying to branch out to try new-to-us places closer to our new neighborhood. That's when Chicago Gyros popped up. I was excited bec I am from Detroit so I was really looking forward to some east coast style Mediterranean street food. Unfortunately it was disgusting. Literally inedible. My boyfriend got the falafel, which came with only lettuce for some reason.. & the lettuce was completely rotted. Please see the pictures. He only had tahini to dress it with & it was weirdly flavorless. I got the chicken Philly gyro & somehow it was both simultaneously the driest & greasiest gyro I've ever had. The chicken was dang near dehydrated to the point of being jerky & the peppers & onions were sautéed within an inch of being so over cooked that they were basically dissolving in the over abundance of oil they cooked them in. Oh, yeah... they forgot to put cheese on it or any other veggies. Just dry chicken, oily peppers & onions, & a stale pita. I took 3-4 bites hoping it would get better but we ended up throwing our food away. My boyfriend literally had to pick off ALL the slimey rotted lettuce & tried to power thru & eat his dry, plain falafel pita with no sauce (bec they didn't give us ANY except the flavorless, watered down tahini) but he also ended up throwing it away saying it was the driest falafel he's ever had. I would give zero stars. We will never come back. It was absolutely disgusting.

Kebab and Greek salad and fries with falafel and hummus

I'm from Chicago and I know a good gyros when I have one! The pita is fluffy and loaded with meat, the tzatziki sauce is so tasty I order a side of it to dip my golden fries, you the kind that are crunchy on the outside and melt in your mouth kind! I absolutely love this place! The Italian beef and kebabs are out of this world! Friendly staff too, highly recommend!

This is a mediocre Greek place. Food is overpriced, "Greek" fries are just regular French fries with some garlic sauce. I like tea, but all they carry are flavored teas. I love Greek food and live near this place, yet I'd never go back. read more

This place is a total filth. The white guy in the front is so rude and made my experience uncomfortable. I asked for extra sauce he rang it up and tell me I have to pay him a dollar. It's not about the money but the service is terrible they need a nice girl with customer service skills in the fro read more

Beware! This place is addicting! I constantly crave this food and eat here at least 3 times a week. They have the best french fries I have ever had and the salads are so fresh and flavorful. My usual order is a chicken salad with a side pita; so good! I have brought many family members and friends here also and all are so impressed by the clean interior and quality/flavor of food. I highly recommend!!! read more

I've been here many, many times for lunch, it is as good as most people say it is. I rarely order anything other than the Gyro "special" for lunch which comes with fries or salad and a drink for $7-9. Simply put, I have yet to find a better gyro in metropolitan phoenix. read more

I don't have a ton of time for this review but here goes: -Great Food -Nice Sporty ambiance -Inexpensive -The guy working the counter was almost too good at multitasking. Sounds weird, I know, but he was so good at multitasking that it seemed like he was ignoring me from time to time. Kind of annoyed me, but he got the job done. I will return but I'm just not too crazy about gyros, but when I want one I'll go here. read more

Today I had the chicken shwarma at Chicago Gyros and I think it's good. Nice flavor to the chicken, lots of toppings, good tzatziki, tons of fries. I would like to see one change though. For a true shwarma, the meat should be carved off of a piece of broiled meat. At Chicago Gyros, you get big chunks of chicken on the shwarma. So technically, it's not really a shwarma... I'll definitely go back! I think I'll try their baba and falafel next time. Yum! read more

These guys are the closest thing I have had to chicago food since I moved here to the phoenix area. I really miss the Chicago places like Quickbite on Foster that have just good old fashion guys trying to make a living cooking amazing food! Chicago gyros has great gyros and chicago dogs! I stop by this place at least 2-3 times a month and really havent found a place nearly as good as this! I love the lamb meat and the fries! read more

Haven't had the Gyro's yet, maybe next time. Really not a huge fan of their Italian beef. Not the traditional sweet peppers from Chicago. Portillo's has the best italian beef I've tried in AZ, and I'm on a quest for something closer to Glendale. read more

Brought the family of four, my second visit as good if not better than first time. Two had Gyros, one kids,Chicken strips (Just awesome:, and i had "Chicago" style Vienna Hot Dog!...brought back such memories growing up in the Windy City. BEST Fries,Hands-down. Food is great, can't deny that. But great food is simply not enough. The customer service is lacking severely. Went there on a Thursday night with football playing and the cashier could barely take his off the TV to look at us for our order. Give me a break man, I love football as well but I can differentiate when I'm at work and when I'm not. Would like to say I'd be back but there are other of local places to give my money to. read more

I've passed by this restaurant a thousand times and finally decided to check it out on Yelp. After seeing many positive reviews I decided to stop in for lunch today. This place is fantastic. I picked up a large order for several co-workers and have received rave reviews for the chicken hummus as well as the Gyro sandwiches. The food was priced very reasonably and the waitstaff was extremely courteous and pleasant. This place will definitely be added as a staple to our meal rotation going forward! read more

Came in tonight after reading the previous reviews. I had the falafel pita and greek fries. The food came out relatively quickly (there were two orders ahead of mine). The pita was ok...the falafel were nothing special and the sauce on the pita was very dry (maybe it was tahini?) and tasted bitter. The greek fries were french fries with feta, greek seasonings and some type of dressing (most greek fries I've had in the past have had lemon juice on them...but this looked to be more of a dressing, although it did taste lemon-y). The fries were good and I ended up pouring the leftover cheese and dressing into the falafel pita to help it not taste so bitter. The place was hopping though, and only got busier the longer we were there, so maybe it was just my menu choice that wasn't that great....because everyone else seemed to enjoy what they were eating. read more

This place has some damn good gyros! Their gyro combo is less than $10 and is very filling. The combo comes with either fries or a small Greek salad. Plus, the baklava is rich and delicious! read more

My husband and I have tried this place twice in the last 2 weeks, and both times the food was amazing. They give huge servings and the cashier is always very friendly. The gyros are the best I have had in a very long time. I would highly recommend this place to family and friends. The place is very clean. The food is awesome. Wide variety of food to choose from. And the customer service is the best. You have got to try the Gyros and fries. Or better yet substitute onion rings for the fries....and you will definitely becoming back time and time again. Read about it and saw a number of good reviews so I thought I'd gave it a try. Clean, fast and efficient. Service fast but gruff..so know what you want before you order....they like to move things along. Good quality of the food and good value....nice menu, big selection. Had Chicago hot dog and fries...dog excellent, fries OK, not great. Greek salad; very good. Will go back to try 3 or 4 other items. Wife (picky) really liked it, too. Lots of things that woman like; humus, salads etc. read more

And then I tried a bite with hummus, rice, chicken and the sauce...wombo combo flavors. Unfortunately, I couldn't finish all of it so I had to take a to go box home. On my next visit I ordered the beef shawarma plate and I was not disappointed at all. After finishing with an empty plate, I walked around the mini market. I noticed there was allot of Middle Eastern food, candies, and drinks. I really enjoyed my Salaam cola on my first visit but they did not have the zero calorie version in stock...I did research on the brand and I found that they created the cola to provide aid to countries like (free)Palestine and Yemen which I deeply support. We used to love coming to this place but lately the gyro meat has been very dry or over seasoned and the pita's have been crunchy or stale. Sad because the food was so much better about six months ago. If you don't add a tip to your order when you pay the cashier before your food is ready they snub you and call out your order after it has been sitting in the window instead of bringing it over to your table. I think that if you are going to bring food out to one table you should do it for all tip or not that is just hospitality. Sadly the cashier doesn't even think that if she were to bring the food out we would have tipped her upon leaving after receiving the service. read more

I have eaten in the restaurant several times and was impressed with the food and service; so much so that I have been willing to pay the extra fees for delivery a couple of times. The Delivery was a little slow both times and they fries showed up cold. I don't expect great delivery from this type of place and I am not sure if they are using a third party service, if so I recommend they find a new service. Updated 3/24/2016 I have since ordered delivery several times from Chicago Gyros and receive excellent service and food. I'm very havppy to share my discovery of this great place called Chicago Gyros tucked in a small plaza. It's a Greek and Chicago Style Eatery. I love their Authentic Gyros Pita and Marinated Chicken and Steak Pitas, Greek Salad has this unique taste and zing to it. I think it's the Dressing. Their Vienna Italian Beef and Chicago Style Hot Dog truly remind me of Chicago. I like the interior decoration and atmosphere, just like back in the East and the Mediterranean. I've been a fan and a customer of Chicago Gyros for a decade or more, but today, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, (wearing masks in public is REQUIRED in Maricopa County), the counter person and people picking up carry out orders had no masks. The sign on their door says masks required, but not only to they not enforce this rule, their own employees do not follow the law. This is completely unacceptable. read more
