Great neighborhood Gyros restaurant! It is locally family owned and the food is quality!

Food is mid at best. Ordered the chicken shawarma rice plate, a chicken gyro pita and a chicken Philly cheesesteak for my family. With other options near me, I'd always choose the other place going forward. The fries were the best part and even then, mid. Wouldn't really recommend this place to others. My MIL picked it up and said the lady at the front with the giant lips were less than welcoming and actually kinda rude. read more

Consistently and competently prepared meals with good quality ingredients. I have been dining here for years and owe them a review. Yesterday, a Tuesday about 1:00 p.m. I popped in for a takeout gyro plate with rice and Greek side salad. This comes with a giant Pita and a generous side of tzatziki sauce. It's enough for two people to have a pretty decent lunch portion for under $20. I think that they could brown the gyro meat a little bit more , but otherwise the quality is high, never gritty always sliced thin. Basmati rice is excellent, and I am particular about yellow rice actually being buttery basmati. Nice job guys! I like that there are fresh sliced tomatoes and white onions on the plate. The tomatoes get a little warm from the rice, yummy. You can eat the meat with the pita or eat it with the salad or eat it with the rice. Dip or not dip, I will finish the last drop of their tzatziki sauce. It is very creamy and rich, dilly and minty with tiny chopped cucumber. Their side Greek salad is one of the best in town. They use very fresh romaine, grape tomatoes, sliced red pepper, fresh white onion, kalamata olives and a pepperoncini. All topped with a generous sprinkling of fine grate feta pieces. Their homemade dressing is great too. I think I like their salad because it's crisp and cold, even when I get it home. On a prior visit, we got home with a partially wrong takeout meal. It was a crazy Sunday when their payment system was down, cash only. Unable to even call them to resolve the error, until the next day (because their phones were down too) I spoke to someone and tucked away the receipt . I stopped by this week with my receipt and an explanation, and they unquestioningly replaced the dish. I appreciate that this small business is good for their word. No hassle. I've been trying to find my new favorite Mediterranean/gyro spot since moving to the area. Not many places offer kefta/kofta so I'm always on the lookout for a place that offers both gyros and kefta.. and this happens to be just around the corner! The kefta was seasoned beautifully and the lamb gyro was rich in flavor; however, the kefta was a little dry compared to other places I've tried. I'm not sure if most places I've tried were halal so I was used to the richness in the meat. Would have loved an option to get some spiciness. The dips, sides, hummus and bread were delicious. The food comes out pretty fast and pretty good local spot! Would come here again if I'm craving a rice plate of kefta as it's a hard dish to find. :) read more

As a Chicagoan, no. Just, no. First, the prices are insane. $18 for a gyro, fries, and soda? This is the west side, yo. This ain't Gilbert. Second, that was about the smallest gyro I've ever seen. There was more pita than meat. Oh, speaking of the pita, it was dry and chewy. Third, the only flavor coming through was salt. It was so salty that halfway through my mouth was burning and I simply couldn't finish it. Never in my 50+ years have I failed to finish a gyro. And lastly, the fries. Chicagoans would riot if you tried to sell those double dipped crunchy weird french fry things back home. The proper Chicago fry is a crinkle cut, lightly salted. Kind of a cramped, antique kind of feel when you step inside. Would recommend a remodel or refresh. Tried the chicken breast gyro for $10 and it wasn't great, but the yellow tinted chicken was decent. As mentioned in many reviews, the lettuce was not fresh and the pita itself was a bit old and chewy. The cook or owner also was talking to the cashier while my food was cooking or finished cooking.. I have lived in this neighborhood for close to 20 years and this place NEVER DISAPPOINTS! The food is always fresh and tasty, the portions are good sized and flavorful and the service is always friendly. I literally have never had anything bad here. My frequent meal orders: - Chicken shawarma plate - Philly steak pita - Steak pita - fish and chips (yup) - Greek salad (the dressing, chef's kiss) - chicken and hummus (I usually get either the side salad or fries). The tzatziki could be eaten on a flip flop it is that good and the warm pitas are also a must. If you haven't tried this inconspicuous place, do it. You won't regret it. Italian beef sandwich was dry and flavorless. Even with the aujus (which was 90% olive oil btw) had too much oregano. And this is weird because I'm from the Midwest ( 45 minutes outside of Chicago ) and I've never had an Italian beef with oil and oregano. Lived in the area for 5 years and tonight we got this for the first time (plus delivered). Wow! We were very impressed. Packaged very well which was appreciated. But the food... Absolutely delicious. Gyro, Chicago Dog, Italian Beef (Get the Au Jus) Pizza Puff, and the Fries (Thick and crispy perfection).... Seriously this was impressive. Definitely getting this again. read more

Offspring had chicken tenders and the Italian beef sandwich plus two orders of Greek fries. Large portions, excellent flavors and great value given the state of everything. Quite possibly the worst take out experience I have ever had. We ordered a falafel sandwich with rice & a chicken Philly with rice, to-go. We just moved up here to this area of Phoenix from downtown, so we have been trying to branch out to try new-to-us places closer to our new neighborhood. That's when Chicago Gyros popped up. I was excited bec I am from Detroit so I was really looking forward to some east coast style Mediterranean street food. Unfortunately it was disgusting. Literally inedible. My boyfriend got the falafel, which came with only lettuce for some reason.. & the lettuce was completely rotted. Please see the pictures. He only had tahini to dress it with & it was weirdly flavorless. I got the chicken Philly gyro & somehow it was both simultaneously the driest & greasiest gyro I've ever had. The chicken was dang near dehydrated to the point of being jerky & the peppers & onions were sautéed within an inch of being so over cooked that they were basically dissolving in the over abundance of oil they cooked them in. Oh, yeah... they forgot to put cheese on it or any other veggies. Just dry chicken, oily peppers & onions, & a stale pita. I took 3-4 bites hoping it would get better but we ended up throwing our food away. My boyfriend literally had to pick off ALL the slimey rotted lettuce & tried to power thru & eat his dry, plain falafel pita with no sauce (bec they didn't give us ANY except the flavorless, watered down tahini) but he also ended up throwing it away saying it was the driest falafel he's ever had. Ordered the curbside pickup option they offer online off their website. Tipped 15% for that option. Had my dog in the car. Called when I arrived. Staff on the phone/ inside was not friendly. They were actually rude on the phone about asking for them to bring me the food. And the not friendliness continued when I went in to grab it. Blank unfriendly stares. And there were no customers inside so it's not like they were busy. Gyro was OK. Dry and not flavorful. Falafel was good. Overall price of 30$ with tip, for the experience plus taste of food. The pita is fluffy and loaded with meat, the tzatziki sauce is so tasty I order a side of it to dip my golden fries, you the kind that are crunchy on the outside and melt in your mouth kind! When I tell you these guys make REAL gyros and tzatziki sauce-- believe me! I wanted to make sure I tried this place after meeting the owner. A super kind, real Chicagoan. Food here is great! Definitely a solid 4.75 stars! Was craving a falafel pita sandwich and did not disappoint! Even though wished they had put a little more tahini sauce in the sandwich. My son had the gyro lunch combo which came with fries and a drink! The gyro was humongous, with the meats piled high! The fries were plentiful and crispy!!! This is a cozy well loved neighborhood restaurant. The food is kind of pricey (I think- maybe it is that way everywhere). For 2 dinner plates , each with a salad, it came to $38.00. It's just chicken and rice with a bit of flatbread, so why is it so much? Oh well, I had just won $100 on a Scratch ticket so it was okay. But I couldn't afford that price otherwise. Nice vibe upon entry. It smells good. Tables, counter tops, and floor look very clean. The cashier was nice and waited patiently as I searched the menu. There was a guys waiting and another two people that ordered online I'm guessing. They got their food prior to me. As ex-Chicagoans, we crave good Greek food. We've eaten here many, many times and have yet to have a bad experience. My wife typically gets the chicken shawarma with a Greek salad and I rotate between gyros, Italian beef and falafels but have had a few other offerings. Their hummus is legit, too. My wife loves the shawarma because it's nicely garlicky and gets it with their garlic sauce. The gyros are packed with meat, the Italian beef tastes like Chicago, especially with the hot giardinera. And the falafel and hummus plate tastes great with the garlic sauce. By the way, the Greek Vinaigrette is fantastic on her side salad. When I think "hmmmm a Gyro sounds good" my mind immediately goes to Chicago Gyros; then my car and money follow :)) Conveniently located for me in the North Valley, Chicago Gyros are consistently delicious. Extra tatziki sauce and added feta make it even more yummy. Small and unassuming, with no bells or whistles, the inside is just a place to eat. We tried this place tonight and when I tell you it did not disappoint! It was a great experience from the beginning! The sweet woman working the register was so kind to us and just so welcoming!
