If all home services sent out their technicians or reps as quickly as Chicago Locksmith does, the world would be a better place in so many ways. I called Chicago Locksmith before lunch on a Monday, and the customer service was smooth. The guy gave me a two-hour window in which the locksmith would show up, but when I requested a specific time, he said that's when the locksmith would be there. True enough. The locksmith, Joe, appeared at my requested time. After about 2 hours, he was able to re-key 5 different locks on three different doors. I got 2 free keys as well. Aside from being professional and knowledgeable, Joe's sense of humor just made him that much more personable. After removing all of my locks, Kenny left me alone in my house for 15 minutes without warning or letting me know where he was going. I am having my locks changed for personal safety reasons and this is not OK. I called the office to ask if this was standard procedure and they admitted it wasn't. When Kenny returned, he was upset with me and tried to convince me that I was overreacting to the point of further upsetting me greatly. When he finally continued working, he laid out metal tools and components directly on my wood floor. When I asked him to please work on the rug inches from him instead, he stormed out to call his office and talk very badly of me within earshot of me. He finally started working again but remained on the phone for awhile talking about his schedule and other topics. He never once apologized for leaving me alone or upsetting me nor did he try to understand why you don't leave a woman with personal safety issues alone in a house without locks for an extended time. I would never use again. I had a lockout, they couldn't pick the lock and decided to break the doorknob and put on a new one--fine. Except after supposedly rekeying the knob to my old key, I still couldn't get into my house the next day and was stuck outside for hours waiting for a technician to come back. After once again adding another doorknob, my key works but my fiance's key doesn't. Did I mention that I'm still being expected to pay for this "service"? I will be disputing this transaction with my bank. Never again. read more

My key broke off in my lock, I called them and they came within an hour...Couldn't believe how professional this guy was, but also went the extra mile checking my entire lock and refasten all the screws and replaced some that were gone, he made sure my lock was working perfectly before leaving...He even made keys for us....What a wonderful person, can't say enough about the incredible service I received so fast on a Saturday so late in the afternoon...put my mind at ease...Will call with anything I need in the future .... read more

The lock to the front door of our building was suddenly completely broken -- my neighbors and I couldn't get in, and we couldn't get out! I would have normally gone to Home Depot and fixed this myself for $20, but It was after midnight so Home Depot was closed, and we wanted to be able to lock the door so we could sleep without worrying about someone coming into the building. So we called Chicago Locksmith, the dispatcher on the phone was professional and courteous, and the locksmith called and communicated well on the phone, and got out to us as soon as he could - we didn't have to wait too long. He seemed to really know what he was doing, and his price was reasonable, considering that this was a 24-hour late night service. read more

I have been using Shay, Simon and Eli for the last 5 years and not one issue. Have referred them to clients (I am Realtor so the need for a reliable locksmith is important) and they have been pleased. One thing I like about these men is that they give you a time; if they are running behind they call and continue to call if they are in a time crunch. Great experience overall! I was having trouble with my ignition, and a dispatcher sent someone out within 10 minutes to diagnose the problem. Robert (I think was his name?) wasn't able to fix it for me, but he made me a back-up key that I ended up needing. He was also very nice and let me sit in his van while I waited because it was still cold outside! Then Brian called and came by within a couple hours! He took the steering wheel apart and fixed it in under a half an hour in the dark. Very friendly, very fast, and now it works! It also cost the bottom end of what he quoted me, so honest as well. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because communication between everyone was a little wonky. A discount didn't get passed through, and there wasn't a clear record of the first man who came. Otherwise, very happy for the help! read more

I live in Chicago, but was visiting the Morton Arboretum when I lost my car key for my Mazda 2 in the snow. Found the Chicago Locksmiths on Google. When I called, they were able to give me a quote and connect me with a local technician. After some back and forth with AAA, I went ahead and called the technician, who was able to be there in 30 mins. Robert was very nice and worked quickly, even in the freezing cold. The price ($250) was unfortunate but not much more than I was expecting. All was good until a couple days later, when the key would work only intermittently (went to get food and when I came out of the restaurant, it wouldnt start because it was not recognized). I called the locksmith company, who scheduled Robert to come to Chicago to check it out. There was some scheduling confusion and Robert needed to come later than originally scheduled, but he made another key for free, thinking this key was a bad make or the chip inside had gotten loose somehow. While I wish I had my original key, this company was very responsive and I was so happy with the free replacement. Never knew this was out there until I needed it, and it was a life saver! read more

They have not been able to correct it and because they do not want to refund my payment are trying to now say that it is something. Else wrong with my car. I am not satisfied and do not recommend their services unless you are willing to take the chance.
