We needed all of the exterior locks changed in our recently rehabbed home that used seven different keys on nine doors (yes, crazy) to one single key. We also needed a repair on our enclosed porch lock and our new garage deadbolt wasn't turning from the inside. We also needed to do this work before Thanksgiving! The tech even returned a few days later because on another one of our super old teeth-type locks in the basement that he attempted to repair, he decided he would like to do a better job on it, and replaced it at no additional charge. She let me know someone would be out later today. I called them at 9pm on Tuesday, I was able to get an appointment on the next day. The representative on the phone was very professional and nice. Louis arrived at my parents home during the 2 hour window provided and he immediately was able to see the issue with the lock that was previously placed on the door by a non professional. Not sure if I have the right Yelp entry for this business as there are multiple; the right location/franchise definitely deserves credit! Called me back on a request for quote via Yelp in, or under, 30 minutes. Had an appointment schedule then, for less than 48 hours later. I had a key sheared off and needed several locks to be rekeyed including the one with the sheared key; Chicago Locksmiths, unlike a competitor who also responded, did not quote me an extraction fee for the sheared key - only the base service fee plus the rekey fee which their competitor ALSO charged. They did end up having to charge me a pick fee due to having no other keys for that cylinder for rekeying purposes, but it was less than one-third of what their competitor quoted for an extraction, and I can only assume competitor would also have charged a pick fee. The smith who serviced me, Adam, was great. Pretty painless operation, friendly service. Three doors, four locks, done in about an hour and a half. Improved a binding issue I was experiencing with one door while he was here. Very affordable. 90-day warranty. Would certainly use again. read more

My problem was simple, or so I thought. My rooftop door lock was jammed, and I was not longer able to lock it. I tried 2 locksmith companies before finding Chicago Locksmith. The first company told me I was going to have to replace the entire door. I'm no lock technician, but I knew that wasn't the answer. The 2nd company came to look at it, diagnosed the problem, but didn't have the part. They left promising to call when the part came in...guess who never called. Chicago Locksmith to the rescue. I tried getting a key made at Menard's using their do-it-yourself machine. Three tries, none worked. Then I stayed in the neighborhood, went to Chicago Locksmiths and got a key that worked! Such a difference having individual attention. I also needed advice on a lock for the maintenance room in our condo building.
