I used Chicago Locksmiths to get into my locked car (locked my keys inside). The service was friendly and professional however I was quoted between $60-95 dollars over the phone (plus a $40 service fee) and ultimately charged $200 AFTER the service was completed. I did not feel comfortable arguing this in person. Either someone is skimming off the top or they aren't quoting accurately, but either way that's bad business. EDIT: following this review, I got a call from the company and owner offering a partial refund for services. It is clear that the company cares about clients, customer service and their reputation, and I would definitely use them again! read more

the Tech who came in was on-time and quick to get his job done (re-key) But within a week my home was broken into while I was here - (it seems to me that the theft clearly had the key as he open both the deadbolt and the knob in 10 seconds). he saw me and ran away I called Chicago Locksmith asking for help but they said they couldn't do anything about it and not even having the Tech to come in to check to locks that they changed. read more

Made a trip to the Milwaukee St. location on a Sunday afternoon to have standard house keys copied. The two people working there had NO IDEA what they were doing at all. When presented with the finished copies I noticed the blanks used did not match the originals. They offered to re-cut the keys and did the same thing AGAIN cutting a total of 6 incorrect keys. I asked for my originals back and for a minute they had misplaced one. WTH! Total incompetence. They then asked that I come back during the week when a professional key cutter would be working. Bottom line, avoid this place! read more

Lost the keys to my car a while back and had no spare available. I called around to a bunch of locksmiths as I was told they are typically cheaper than the dealership. I reached out a number of places and either they didn't provide auto locksmith service, couldn't program my car key, or charged close to the dealership price. Robert, from Chicago Locksmiths came out quickly and cut the blank key I had available and was able to get the key and remote programmed very quickly. The pricing was also very reasonable, less than HALF of what the dealership and other locksmiths were quoting. Also was concerned they wouldn't come by me as I live far north of the city but distance is not an issue for them as long as you're in Chicagoland. Can't recommend these guys enough. Super nice and quick service, they stamp the keys so if they don't work you can bring them back and replaced free of charge. Turns out this policy is helpful because I tried all 8 keys, only 5 worked. And one stopped working after a few uses. Gotta go back and return these, since half of them are defective. I called the company Saturday morning to change our locks in a new home. They were great and set up a time for someone to come out to very next day on a Sunday. I called for a night home lockout, maybe 8pm. Talked to a rep immediately. They assigned a tech and he responded within about 20 minutes saying he was on his way. He showed up about 20 more minutes later, called to say he was near. Very nice communicative guy, told us the up front service cost possible add on costs (parts). We agreed, he opened the door in minutes. We paid with credit card, easy peasy. I would call them again in a minute and would highly recommend. read more
