Update (1/29/2026): I'm regularly harassed by Danny and his goon Jerome/Jerry. Jerry has blamed me for him loosing his job. I filed a dispute with my CC company and they performed an investigation. It was decided, after providing them with the text messages and voice conversation I had with Danny, that the work hadn't been done as agreeed. Rather than reflect on his poor decisions, false bravado, or lapses in intellect, Danny has decided to blame me and call me a crook all for the crime of asking that they perform the tasks I paid for. To add fodder to fuel both he and Jerome have attacked me on the basis of having a brain that works differently. Jerome asserted that I was "slow" just because I'm autistic and Danny called me "...a retard with a ADHD". Luckily he's apparently only aware of the one singular ADHD. Who knows what he'd have said if he knew I had a whole set of ADHDs. This group of guys is clearly at the top of the intellect game and emotionally mature in the same way that 45 was a "very stable genius". That's sarcasm. These guys make f'idiots look like Nobel laureates =+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+= Since my original post/review much has happened. I spoke with Danny Rodriguez. My understanding is that he is the proprietor/principal of the company. He offered me a $160 credit or at my option two guys to come out and do an hour or two worth of work if I was willing to take down my review. He and I spoke at some length and he was under the mistaken impression That that conversation was an negotiation. I am autistic and frequently come to realize that the counterparty to a conversation has. An entirely different view of what we're discussing or what the point is but even with that, I don't know how he arrived at the idea that I was negotiating anything given how much they had messed up and the fact that my "persistent drive for justice" (common in people with autism and those with ADHD And I have both) won't permit mean to be silenced or censored for a couple of peanuts. [ I'm not saying I can't be bought. I just can't be bought so cheaply.] Anyway, after we couldn't come to an accord on rectifying the incomplete and wrong work that I had paid for I raised the issue with my financial institution. Shortly there after I got a series of messages from Danny that I find difficulty in understanding to be anything other than an attempt at threats and intimidation. He has threatened to press charges for fraud/theft of service which I would love to see because I believe that his worker named Jerry presenting a bill of lading as an invoice without obtaining legitimate signatures instead pre-forging signatures would be more likely to be considered fraud than me legitimately raising a purchase protection claim using all the documentation from my interactions with them about this issue. He, Danny, even went so far as to send me a picture of the front of my house as if I didn't already know where I live. Is he trying to insinuate that he knows where to find me? Would you want to hire a company with such y practices? read more

Every once in a while I use a service where I question, during their sales talk, whether any company could fulfill the obligations that the salesman claimed would be done. An example of this is a mover of a house from one state to another. As a background, during a five year period due to work, I moved four times! Another time I had a photo of a model taken by a famous fashion photographer. Coincidentally one of my movers saw the photo and recognized the model as his date from the prior weekend. For some reason this photo disappeared during the move. I tackled this unpleasant task of selecting a mover knowing that the most I could hope for was a final bill only several thousand more than the quote. I could hope that the number of possessions not successfully making the move-either because they were damaged or just disappeared, was in single digits. I once had a mover who damaged one of my appliances and dumped it in the garbage bin without telling me. Did he think I wouldn't notice its disappearance or that I wouldn't see it in the garbage? That was my history with moving companies and you can see that I considered it a poor history. Now I want to tell you about an exception that Yelp introduced to me: Chicago Marathon Movers was priced competitively. They said there would be no expenses added after the move. There were not. They said there would not be time delays and there were not. They said the piano was not a problem and it was handled so gently that it almost did not require a tuning. Boxes labeled with which room it was to be delivered to were not ignored. My new neighbors commented how polite, efficient and considerate of their lawns and sidewalks that the movers were. When a truck was emptied the movers drove the vehicle to a public lot, out of the way of my neighbors. Maybe this was the reason why the welcoming milk and cookies were fancier than what I normally received. So what should you expect from Marathon Movers? Honesty; no damage or loss to your possessions; no change in final price; demonstration of concern for not only your stuff but also your neighbors'; whistling while you work attitude by the crew; no garbage or used or unused supplies left either in the old home or new one; amazingly hard working crew and a spouse thinking you were a genius in selecting Marathon Movers! And did I tell you that I changed the moving date I gave this mover twice? Oh yes, what about various competitors? Some wore suits, some had their computer with the fancy pricing programs-measuring every piece moved by the inch and ounce and some claimed to be cheaper as long as you did not calculate the cost of the damage or loss of your possessions. So the $60 million question, would I use Marathon Movers for that future move that we investment bankers go through all too often and almost always unplanned? You are darned right! read more

I'm going to have fun writing this review ... CHICAGO MARATHON MOVERS IS THE BOMB DIGGITY.COM!!!! I've had enough moves that engaging movers gives me trepidation. No matter how much you discuss, get things in writing, it's ... always ... something!!!! CHICAGO MARATHON MOVERS ... THERE WAS NOTHING. I repeat NOTHING. REQUESTED A QUOTE ... Prompt DETAILED Response. ASKED QUESTIONS ... Prompt ON POINT RESPONSES. ASKED QUESTIONS OUTSIDE NORMAL BUSINESS HOURS ... Marie promptly and courteously responded. OFFICE NEEDED WRITTEN ESTIMATE ... Got that promptly. CONFIRMED APPOINTMENT ... NP. They hadn't forgotten or cancelled me (yes that's happened a few times to me, ugh. ON TIME ... OK ran a little late. No biggie. I missed their original phone call. (Did I mention they asked if I needed coffee or donuts lol) JERRY, JOSE, ALEX ... walked in and asked what do you need moved, where do you want it placed. THEN PROMPTLY, DID YOU HEAR ME SAY PROMPTLY, AND EFFICIENTLY, WENT TO WORK. My last move the mover was so destructive they had to pay me a cash settlement to avoid a lawsuit. I've had movers lose boxes that are on the inventory list and then swear I never gave them the boxes!!!! CHICAGO MARATHON MOVERS ... the quote was fair and reasonable, they earned their money, and my property was protected, handled with car, and in perfect condition. They even double tripled check to make sure nothing was missed and confirmed with me that certain things were staying in my old apartment. CHICAGO MARATHON MOVERS ... I can't imagine using any other moving service. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM. HIGHLY, and that is not usual for me. I'm a very flexible professional but I have high standards. I've been walking around the office smiling (which is scaring the crap out of my coworkers lol) CHICAGO MARATHON MOVERS EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS. PROMPT ... TIMELY ... COURTEOUS ... HARD-WORKING ... If you want movers who are careful with your things, super hard-working, super positive, and even have a good eye for interior decorating--call Marathon Movers!In addition, their hourly rate is fantastic and they don't waste their hours. I've moved many times in my life. I've moved myself, I've moved using big and small moving companies--and I've never had a happy moving experience before this time. I've come to expect stress and distress on M-Day. This was not the case moving with Marathon Movers. Danny was extremely warm and reassuring when making the arrangements, so I felt very comfortable. On the day of, Andre, Pi, and Richard took great care of me, my family, my 3lb Chihuahua, and my things. Their attitude was that nothing was a problem. I was fretful, but they were calming. For the few hours they were with me, I felt like they were family: that they had my back. After moving everything in, they rebuilt my furniture and placed them nicely. Even when it was getting late, they said, "No problem, we're fine." They stayed until 8pm and made sure I was set up and comfortable. Usually, I am homesick for my old place for the first few nights in a new place. It takes a while to feel settled in. This time, I went to bed on moving day feeling moved in and taken care of. They made me feel at home in my new home. Also, I noticed that the guys were kind to each other and seemed happy with their work. All of them had an extremely positive attitude about the hard labor they were doing. This meant a lot to me. Spending a whole day with hard-working, positive people is such a pleasure--a gift in itself. Even as they worked at lightening speed, they found time to compliment each other, joke with my kids, play with the dog, and give me restaurant recommendations. I didn't want them to leave! They promised to come by for barbeque in the summer--I hope they do. read more

I had a truly disappointing experience with Chicago Marathon Movers when I entrusted them with moving my furniture. Despite being quoted $125 per hour for a 4-6 hour job in my 2-bedroom house with a storage basement, the ordeal lasted from 9:15 am to 7:00 pm. The three-man team failed to move all of my furniture within this timeframe. The first warning sign arose when one of the workers arrived reeking of alcohol. The situation escalated as he engaged in arguments and profanity with his co-workers inside my home. Another concern arose when I instructed them to remove the doors from my china cabinet for easier transportation, and despite assurances, they mishandled the process, damaging the doors and failing to reinstall them correctly. By 11:30 am, it became evident they were moving at a sluggish pace. Loading the truck took until 2:45 pm, and they assured me they would meet me at the new address, only to delay further due to a lunch break. Despite my early arrival at the new location, they didn't finish unloading until nearly 7:00 pm. To add insult to injury, my china cabinet and dresser suffered damage, and I was charged a staggering $1100 for what should have been a $600 job. I strongly advise against using this company if you seek a professional experience and want your items delivered intact. The final straw occurred when two workers had a conflict, leaving one stranded on my doorstep to arrange an Uber back north. Be mindful that these companies use different workers for different jobs. To compound matters, the owner insulted me by suggesting I was attempting to avoid payment. In light of this appalling experience, I strongly caution against using Chicago Marathon Movers if you desire a professional and reliable moving service. I needed a last-minute move the day before Christmas Eve to transport a large, heavy, three-piece china cabinet from Chicago to the northwest suburbs. After calling over 10 moving companies on December 22nd, most quoted outrageous prices and were unavailable until after the holidays. Then I found Marathon Movers. When I called, I spoke with Ron, who was refreshingly honest. He initially told me they might not be the best fit since they charge by the hour, and it was just one 3-piece item. I really appreciated his transparency and concern for me not overpaying. I asked for a quote anyway, and to my surprise, it was FAR more reasonable than any other company I had contacted. Even better, Ron said he could send two movers with a truck the very next day! That's where Jerry and Rob come in--absolute lifesavers! They arrived early at the pickup location, fully prepared. They carefully wrapped each piece of the china cabinet, taking special care with the glass and any necessary disassembly. These pieces were extremely heavy, but Jerry and Rob handled them like true professionals, navigating a tricky entryway and stairs. Once the furniture was loaded, I drove ahead to the drop-off location. They arrived promptly, unloaded the pieces efficiently, and even helped set them up inside the house. They took the time to reassemble everything and hooked up the lighting for the cabinet. Rob and Jerry went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. There's no way I could have done this without Jerry, Rob, and Marathon Movers. Their professionalism, efficiency, and kindness were a true blessing for me and my family. I recently moved and found Chicago Marathon Movers on Angi's list and I can tell you with confidence that they are by far on of the BEST, NICELY PRICED, PROFESSIONAL, EFFICIENT MOVERS IN CHICAGO! From the very start, the supervisor named Danny contacted me immediately. He was professional, upfront and very personable. I was entertaining three other companies but after speaking Danny, he made me decision for me. After listing tentative items to be moved and other logistics my date was set. YOU CANNOT BEAT THEIR PRICING! Now to the actual move- the movers sent were top of the line! When contacting me to confirm the move, the manager Edgar offered to bring coffee, juice and donuts- that is customer service at its' finest! Daniel, Marlin, and Nelson were terrific!! I had contacted Daniel with a last minute move; 1 week out in the middle of August! He was able to accommodate the date and time I needed. I needed to contact Daniel several of times due to paperwork my condo association requested from me as a seller. Daniel was always available or called me back within 15 minutes; he answered numerous questions and was very patient with me. Customer Service with Marathon movers is truly outstanding and I am a tough critic to please! My move went very smoothly. They were very efficient and knowledgeable regarding the best ways to keep my furniture and belongings safe and unharmed. I have cherry wood furniture that is solid and very heavy. They padded and protected it so well; it really eased my mind! Moving is a stressful time but with Marathon movers they made it simple. They are very honest, hard working, kind, efficient, and very careful. They were on time and called ahead to let me know when they were on their way. All pricing is given up front and there are no hidden fees or surprises. Based on my previous positive experience, I used Chicago Marathon Movers for another move; however, it was highly disappointing this time. I had two men for a studio move again. One of them was really nice and helpful but the other guy did not a bad job and made the day ten times more stressful: he was cursing a lot when the moving truck was blocking my one-way street so he had to move the truck twice. To be fair, I also hate how busy my one-way street gets during the moving season. However, it was extremely unprofessional of him to curse and complain the entire day. He also did not follow most of my instructions to protect my items. When we were leaving for my new place, he complained and said that he was going to leave, which I then had to comfort him and apologize repeatedly for my narrow one-way street. On top of the emotional stress, they also damaged my couch (only the corners but the lack of care was still disappointing) and left dirty prints all over my mattress (it was raining and my mattress cover broke). I tipped both of my movers well because I felt bad for their frustration, however, it was not my responsibility to make sure my movers are emotionally stable to complete my move. Based on my completely different experiences this and last time, I can't tell if quality control is not there or if it was just this one mover who was unprofessional, but I likely won't be using this moving company again. read more

I supervised the moving for a dear friend of mines since she had obligations to attend to. Juan along with Riff and Nelson arrived on time and was ready to work. My friend had everything packed and ready to go which made the move out process simple. They all asked which items to take and the items to leave alone. My friend also had a couch set and before the movers took the set, they informed me that they could wrap them with plastic as a way to prevent any damage during the moving process. I allowed them to wrap the couch set and some mattresses. Upon arriving at the new location they were able to maneuver the truck to the back of the apartment complex where they were able unload and move everything in my friend's apartment. They even asked where in the bedroom the mattresses should be placed which I didn't know so they suggested that they could place the mattresses against the wall which made sense so that my friend would know where to place them. They were also patient while waiting for the payment that my friend made through Zelle. To sum up everything, Juan, Riff, and Nelson were all professional and kind during the in move out and move in process. I encountered many movers and never seen a group of guys take pride in moving. These are the best movers in Chicago and I definitely will use Chicago Marathon Movers for whenever I need moving services and I will recommend them as well! read more

This morning I called every moving company in Chicago. Daniel, a young, capable gentleman started off strong with the only pleasant phone conversation I had with a rep this morning. On my end, I had a last minute request, after getting permission to occupy our new music school... we had to move to our new space- the date we needed to move was tomorrow Saturday, no later, to start lessons on time on Tuesday of next week. We could not move earlier because we were waiting to pass our inspections and we passed them this morning with flying colors. At first he said the earliest he could do was Sunday morning, then said he could do it today. He accommodated a crew of 5 workers and did not take advantage with pricing, instead giving us a proper rate to work with. He even added additional workers without breaking his contract with us to get the job done when the original workers disclosed they had no experience with moving a baby grand piano. The workers were all great guys that you could easily hang out with as friends, but also were focused and innovative in their methods- they were the hardest working men I had ever met in such a labor heavy line of work. Chicago Marathon Movers hands down is the best moving company I have had the pleasure of working with. Thank you so much Jerry and Juan for being personable, professional, and efficient! I recently moved my my contents from my one bedroom apartment in Chicago, IL to a storage unit in Terre Haute, IN. This was a long distance move and I had a lot of items to transfer. From the very start they made a great impression! They arrived on time and with all of the proper tools to get the job done including dollies, shrink wrap, and additional padding to make sure everything was secure in the moving van. Their attention to detail was spot on which included proper cord storage for lamps, placement of furniture in the moving truck, and movement of bigger items out of the apartment. For the latter Juan and Jerry were so careful with my items and made sure that they didn't get badly dinged up while transferring them through doors and other tight spaces. This takes a lot of skill and these movers went above and beyond in this department and more. Once the move was complete Jerry sent all documentation and final pictures to me in a timely fashion and provided confidence that my belongs were safe and sound. When you have to move, Marathon Movers are absolutely who you want. Seriously: Jerry, Robert and Juan rocked it. Period. Scheduling--straightforward with both Silvia and Danny; pricing--clear; and the moving team was a trifecta: Jerry, Robert and Juan were improbably quick and organized--all with an awesome attitude throughout. Moving Day, Jerry calls to say they're about 25 minutes away. Early, not late. Then he said "It's going to be a great day." It was a great day and his call helped set the tone for the whole move. Jerry was fun, conversational, yet down to business. Robert brought some real crank-on-through to the operation. And Juan--There is a serious, serious art to packing a truck. Juan will destroy us all at Tetris. Two pick up locations, two floors at each and they helped us get it all done... even the little crapola. They had awesome, can-do attitudes--all day and took curve balls in stride. You move enough stuff, something will get dinged-up, broken, etc. And so, too, in this move something did. Jerry acknowledged the damage upfront and addressed it immediately with us. Done and done. So, yeah. These guys just hit it outta the park. I literally don't even know where to begin. I woke up on my moving day to a text from my previously scheduled movers saying that their truck was having mechanical issues and they would not be able to move me. As you can imagine, I panicked! In a frenzy, I started calling any and every number I could find. After making 2-3 calls and getting no answer, I dialed the number for Marathon Movers. Dan promptly answered the phone at 7AM on a Sunday morning, and ensured me that they would do everything they could to get me moved on time that morning. I had a 2 hour move-in block that I had to make at my new apartment. Within an hour of that phone call, two of the nicest guys, Nate and Nelson showed up (on their day off) and loaded my entire apartment into their truck in less than 45 minutes. They were just as quick unloading when we arrived at my new place. They were friendly, fast, and very professional. None of my furniture was damaged. These guys turned what could have been an absolute DISASTER into an unbelievably easy and pleasant experience. I cannot thank them enough! We decided to hire movers last minute and CMM was able to help us out with only one week's notice. I've used other moving companies before and this was my best experience, by far. Nelson, Jesus and Chris were our moving team and they were great. They were very friendly, professional and accommodating. I was hesitant to have movers in the house all day, as I am a person with higher Covid risk. They showed up with masks and wore them the entire time, without ever being asked. Early in our moving process, we were unable to locate an item of importance and they stayed cool through our panic and helped open everything that had already been loaded on to the truck. For every item that they brought into the new home, they double checked where I'd like to have things placed and even offered to help move a few things once they were inside. This was my first move where nothing was broken or damaged upon arrival! They really could not have been more helpful in our move, and the fact that they were so friendly and conversational was something I really appreciated as we spent most of the day together! We will be moving again in a few months when our home is ready and I will definitely request this same team. read more

Richard, Juan, and Alec were by far the best movers I've ever had, and I've had quite an extensive experience with movers in the past. They were punctual, professional, friendly, and took great care of all of our furniture and belongings. They also worked really quickly and communicated clearly throughout the whole process. I was very impressed! I had a very positive experience from the beginning. I reached out to several companies on Yelp for quotes because my move with a different company was a total nightmare last year, but Marathon Movers offered the most reasonable price and had excellent reviews so I figured I'd give them a shot. Danny was very helpful throughout the intake process and helped me understand my options when I realized the day before the move that it would be raining during my scheduled time. He suggested that we shrink wrap my larger items (mattress, furniture, etc.) to ensure they would not be damaged, and I'm so grateful that he suggested that because absolutely nothing ended up being broken or damaged during the move. I could not have been happier with my experience, and I'll be sure to call Marathon for any moves in the future. I highly recommend them! read more

These guys did such a great job! I talked to Danny when I made my appointment and he was kind and professional. He asked the right questions in order to get the correct information on our move. He scheduled us for a very high-move date and when I emailed to confirm, he emailed me right back. Nelson and Jesus were right on time the morning of our move (the first time that has ever happened for me in my 10 years in Chicago--thank you guys!) and they were polite, professional, and all around awesome! They came in, assessed, and got right to work. We had a lot of boxes and furniture and they handled it beautifully. They wrapped stuff we did not even care to have wrapped, but they wanted to be extra careful and I really appreciate it. The guys were quick and moved us out a first floor and on to a second floor without any issues. Again, there was a lot of stuff, but they just kept working. It was the best money we ever spent. I could not have done that move and they were just great. Thank you to Nelson and Jesus for their hard work and professional attitude.
