    Inconsistent painting on ceiling

    I really wanted to like the work that Chicago Painters did due to the high reviews they received. However, we learned after the first paint job that, unfortunately, we did not get the same experience that many others have had with this company. We experienced an inattention to detail, miscommunications between the owner and the painting crews, rushed and inconsistent painting and clean up methods, unclear expectations and explanations of what was included in the paint job and what was not, a last-minute cancellation, and a lack of responsiveness when the paint jobs were completely done and we had paid. The initial paint job was quoted to take about 3 to 5 days, but the painters squeezed everything in to 2 days - leaving after 6:00 PM the second day. Before they left we had to walk around with them to point out some spots that clearly and noticeably needed to be touched up. They willingly touched up those spots although we could tell they were in a rush to be done. They then packed up their supplies and left without cleaning up areas that were covered in drywall dust and small chunks of paint and/or drywall. They also did not move any furniture that they had previously moved back to it's original location. Some furniture items they even left on our back patio without notifying us, so these items were out there all night. In our bathroom, paint was not adhering to the wall so in a couple spots it easily peeled off even after allowing the walls to dry. After noticing a few inconsistencies in paint job quality, we took a detailed look around our place and identified multiple locations where what we had asked for was not completed and a rushed job was done. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We quickly sent an email to the owner and the customer service team letting them know about this and they responded promptly offering to come by and see what we needed fixed in person.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] That in person meeting seemed to go fine and the owner made note of all of the areas that needed to be resolved. However, at multiple points during the owner's visit, my partner requested that something be fixed and he said that his team wouldn't usually do that to which then my partner said that they had done it in a different room and showed him. This is a clear example beyond the photographs that speaks to the inconsistencies in the job that was done. We, then, asked about the crown moulding in our living room because, as you can see from the pictures, there's a large visible gap in between the top piece of the moulding and the bottom piece of the moulding. The worker that came along with the owner this day said that they could easily fill the gap for us (which is what we wanted), but the owner said that he wouldn't recommend doing that and that we should just replace it altogether. No resolution was offered for this beyond trying to get the white paint into the gap so the gap would possibly be less noticeable. The visible gap remains today and was never attended to during the second paint job. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The second paint job, or our free touch-up, was initially scheduled for one day, but then at 6:00 AM the morning of the touch-up we received calls and texts from the customer service team saying that they would need to cancel due to a schedule conflict.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Needless to say, we weren't stoked about the extremely late cancellation, but we rescheduled and waited for our turn. The painter that came out on the day of our touch-up was very kind and willing to resolve the issues that were mentioned to him. After he was done with the touch-ups, we felt that although we didn't consider the experience as a whole to be what we had hoped, we accepted it for what it was and decided that we would resolve any other areas missed on our own without bringing it up to the owner. A few months later, we noticed that our crown moulding was turning pink in multiple locations. It had previously been brown before Chicago Painters repainted it, so we didn't understand what could possibly have caused the change in color. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We reached out to the Chicago Painters team (the owner, Jim, and the customer service contacts) via email on August 13th, 2025 asking about it because we genuinely just weren't sure what to make of why our crown moulding was turning pink. We weren't sure if they had used any pink putty on our moulding or what could possibly be causing this. After about 10 days passed with no response, I emailed again on August 23rd, 2025 checking in to see if they had received our previous email. Then, after no response still, my partner called on September 9th, 2025 and spoke to Maureen who said they would escalate the matter and get back to us on the emails we sent. Now, it's September 18th, 2025 (over a month since I sent the initial email) and I haven't heard from Chicago Painters about what could be causing the pink on our crown moulding.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]At this point (and apologies for the length of this review), I am pretty fed up with the lack of communication and the entire experience with Chicago Painters.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    The team was amazing , From start to finish. My place is 700 square ft. They Painted the ceilings , walls, trim and cabinets. Clean and professional. I strongly recommend them. Thank you so much.

I contacted Ray on a Sunday via Yelp and to my surprise, he replied within the hour and we made a plan to touch base on Monday. I told him what I needed, sent photos of the space, and he offered to have one of his team (David) come out to do the job that same week on Thursday! I couldn't believe the turn around. He offered a fair and very reasonable price for the entire job. Ray and David were prompt at the time they said they'd arrive. Ray pointed out yellowing in one of the bathroom ceilings and since I had the ceiling paint in the condo already, he offered to add this to the job without extra charge. David brought one other team member with him and they were exceptional. Very professional, super friendly, and clearly took significant pride in their work. David checked in with us periodically to make sure that everything was exactly to our specifications. He was even done an hour early! Ray came back at the end to make sure everything was good to go. I am so grateful for Ray and his team because now I can keep prepping for baby's arrival and not worry about these half finished bathrooms. Even for small projects like mine, I highly recommend Ray and his team!

I got five bids and opted for Tony's group, not based on price alone, but based on the totality of comfort we felt with Tony as a person, along with all the good online reviews his company had. I'm so glad we did as 100%/Tony dazzled us with extreme effort and attention to detail. His two man team, assigned to our project, were here every day from dawn to dusk and even worked Saturdays as well. Not once, in spite of this arduous schedule in sometimes blazing heat, did they take any shortcuts. In fact just the opposite happened as they took the long way on everything to make sure when they left we got an exceptional looking, long-lasting finished product. His team is so skilled, in fact, that they knew how to do everything from all facets of painting (i.e.: rust removal prep, moisture removal, priming, fixing wall indentations, painting, and staining), to deck board removal/sanding/replacement, to taking apart and re-assembling things, to even taking on things outside the original scope of the project. I also liked that they took the initiative on everything, and would remove all our deck furniture without asking us to do it and then put it back at the end where it looked even neater and properly placed than it did originally. I'm not alone in my feelings for Tony and his team as I know the two other members of our condo association were also blown away by their thoroughness and the quality of work they gave us. Finally it should be noted that Tony was always quick to respond to any of our calls and texts, when he wasn't actually on-site, and was actively involved with the project to the very end. Bravo to 100% Painters Contractors/Tony! Thanks for giving us such a great experience!
