    Italian Beef Sandwich
    Mike P.

Chicago Food? That literally could mean anything! BUT... IMO, "Chicago Food" especially means deep dish pizza, Chicago dogs, Chicken Vesuvio, and ITALIAN BEEF SANDWICHES! It means a few other things too, but these top my personal list. Chicago Post Cafe does at least two of these items very well. Today, I had the Italian Beef Sandwich with hot peppers and marinade on the side. Although hard to eat (the damned things falls apart too easily), it was fantastic. I've had more than a few of these, in Chicago none the less, and this version is honestly one of the best. It's better than Portillo's, and almost as good as Johnie's. Choose your peppers...hot, mild, and/or sweet! Plan to use your fingers to get what falls off the roll, because you won't want to waste a single morsel. Drink the marinade/dip while you're at it. The menu is pretty extensive, and breakfast seems to be featured. I saw another customer's plate, and her bacon, eggs, and pancake looked incredible. The place is small and a little tight, but you can eat in-house. Only one table seats more than 2. Service was fast and friendly. Very friendly. Yeah, I am remiss. I really should be eating here more often. Strictly breakfast and lunch. 5 stars for now.

The service was fast, friendly and brusque. Very Chicago. I got the Italian Beef hot and now my nose is running. I don't know Chicago food particularly well. It's possible that this is the absolute authentic Italian Beef, but I found it a little blander than I expected. It was good, for sure, but just not 5 stars. The prices are fine, $14 for the sandwich, fries, and a water. I think I'll come back again to try a Polish dog.

Love this little Toledo gem! Food is delicious & hot, coffees are so good, & the spot is charming Chicago style diner. Absolutely will be back!!!

Cod fish sandwich and garlic fries

As this was my very first sit down at this eatery I was highly disappointed at the food. The biggest highlight was my side salad and my frozen caramel apple cider drink. My cod fish sandwich was simply a frozen patty from out of a plastic bag and not real fish and the replacement chicken sandwich was fried in the same oil as the fish so I was getting a fishy taste along with it. I politely took my chicken sandwich to go after having my husband take two bites of the sandwich. The garlic fries were not as anticipated either. They came out piping hot with just the perfect amount of salt. However, the whole lot of fries were covered in raw minced garlic and sprinkled with parsley. The raw garlic made the fries inedible for me.

Such a great first time experience. Greeted as soon as we came in the door and told where to find menus and order. We got the chili dog lunch with Cajun fries, came with 2 hotdogs which we was a nice surprise. Also ordered a Chicago dog meal with garlic fries. So good. Kids cheeseburger meal was good and the kids chicken meal was nice pieces of chicken, not pressed chicken. And the pineapple Agua Fresca was superb!!!

Excellent. I'm only taking a star away because I just don't care for the chicken noodle soup. I have ordered to go and for delivery. How bout no delivery fee, no extra service charge fees?. I'm sure it won't last but it is refreshing in the days of doordash and grubhub fees Staff is friendly and provide good service. I usually get the breakfast sandwich with apple wood bacon(Real bacon!!) With a hash brown and some kind of donut. All fresh and so much better than fast food. The lunch offerings are primarily sandwiches and soups. Burgers, chicken salad etc. At least 5 different soups daily. All yummy except the chicken noodle just doesn't do it for me. Not enough noodles for me. They actually specialize in chicago style dogs. Not my thing but my man says they are really good. Somehow my food delivery arrives hot and fresh even though I live across town. Keep up the good work

After looking at different caterers, we chose Pizza Replicator to cater the party of 85. We were having trouble working with the venue to allow the caterer to find a place to cook the pizzas. Max contacted the venue and worked out all the details. On the day of the event, he and his staff arrived promptly and started with the appetizers which were outstanding. Once he transitioned to pizza, the pizzas were continuously replaced until everyone had eaten. Everyone raved about the food. We couldn't be happier about hiring Max and his team and couldn't recommend him enough.

In New York, slices are for folding and eating while on the go, because... well... I guess that's what capitalism does to you. Pizza Replicator is replicating none of these pizzas. Nope. It's just a Star Trek TNG inspired pizza concept where Max Sussman gets to have a little bit of fun with seasonal ingredients, dough, and some portable pizza ovens. Personally, I love to support pizza innovation. Max's pizza is about as good as it can be considering it's cooked up in the back of a coffee shop on any given Sunday. More than anything, I want Max to get a permanent home here in A2 with a legit Neapolitan oven where he can really get some better color on the bottoms of those pies. I've had a few of these so far. Italian sausage with pepperoncini, provolone, and broccoli rabe. Brussels and guanciale with aged gouda, fresh mozzarella, and garlic. Soujouk and Za'atar with onion and green zhug. Asparagus and gruyere with meyer lemon, caramelized onion, and pine nuts. Spanish Chorizo, manchego, roasted peppers. My favorite one to date was the meyer lemon. Dang, that was deliciously unexpected! But those crispy nuggets of guanciale were dynamite too! Ultimately, these are designed to be take out pies, and I'm just not a take out pizza kinda guy. Because I believe pizza is best when it's fresh hot now, I grab my pie, b-line to my parked car, and eat the pizza in the driver's seat like a savage beast. Even when I have shown up early for my scheduled pizza pick up, I have had little luck in getting super hot pies with crisp edges and well colored bottoms. Recently I learned that one can request the pizza "well done" and I am looking forward to giving that a try. But I love the culinary creativity and I am happy to keep trying Max's new pies when my Sunday schedule lines up with available pizza slots. One has to keep an eye on the Pizza Replicator Instagram page and move quickly, because these things sell out. I have gotten over my FOMO, and am happy to simply sample these pizzas when the stars align. Which, you know, is why I'm comfortable to share this with the Yelp Community. Max's efforts are hardly a secret as they were just recently covered in the food press. But yet there is no listing on Yelp?

After a long wait, I finally received a response on October 29 apologizing for the delay and confirming my date was available. They asked me to schedule a call through their portal to discuss details, which I did for November 4. Unfortunately, they did not show up for the call. They eventually connected with me later that day, and I sent inspiration photos to help with planning. After that, I heard nothing until January 16, 2026, when Katie messaged me asking if I had seen her proposal. She apologized for the lack of follow-up and said she would resend it if needed. I informed her that I had not received the proposal in my spam or portal, and she promised to resend it the next day. However, by January 17, I still had not received anything. I followed up again on March 1, 2026, hoping for some progress. Despite the ongoing communication issues, I was drawn to their work because of the beautiful photos and event space they showcased on Instagram. I really wanted to use their services. On March 2, I finally received a response from Stephen, who explained Katie was attending a conference but assured me I would get the proposal within a few days, no later than the end of that week. Now, 20 days later, I have received no proposal and no further follow-up. I am left with no choice but to look elsewhere. If I could give zero stars, I would. I cannot comment on their food or event space because I was never able to utilize their services. I want to support local small businesses, but this experience has been incredibly disappointing and frustrating.

Go to their website and simply click away on you preferences. It's really easy and worth the expended effort. The staff was very nice and accommodating. We arrived and were quickly seated. Water was brought to the table, but without ice. I asked for ice and pretty quickly received some. I would suggest always serving ice water! Warm tap water isn't very palatable to most folks. First impressions of the dining room... So, it's a fairly small room without carpet. No tablecloths or individual table lamps (this doesn't bother me, but some may find this type of dining without such refinements unacceptable). I believe in keeping costs down. Take the savings and use them for buying better ingredients. Oh, a plate of bread with an absolutely delicious compound butter was served when the water was served (a little amuse-bouche). The butter was a lemon, garlic, basil combination that was outstanding!!! Everyone loved it. We split a bottle of wine (no cocktails, sorry). That was fine. They have a nice, simple wine and beer menu. We also ordered Appetizers. If you try any of the apps, try the bang bang shrimp! Better than anything you'll get at the Japanese Steakhouse. Seriously, next time I go back, I'll probably order this for my entrée along with the Caesar salad, and more of that delicious bread! Our other app was the calamari. It was served with marinara, and perfectly cooked. Both great appetizer choices. For our entrées... I ordered the halibut, and what an amazing job chef Marcel did with it! It was sauteed with some small diced vegetables and capers, served over polenta. Maybe a bit too done, but that's just me. I like my fish to be more on the rare side. I'm not faulting anyone for this because I never specified. It was still a great, creative and delicious meal. Two of my dining partners ordered the chicken paillard. Unfortunately, they said these were overcooked and too dry to really enjoy. They both looked delicious though. Another person ordered the salmon and said it was delicious. Our 5th person ordered the mixed green salad with duck. So this was something that really intrigued me as I love duck, and rarely see it. The salad greens/bean sprouts were very fresh, really nice. The duck was sliced very nicely, perfectly cooked, but cold. The temperature of the duck is intentional. I think it would be a better dish if served warm, but that's just me. It also lacked flavor. A nice Asian soy based dressing would have been perfect with this. Soy sauce, rice vinegar, scallions, garlic, ginger, sesame oil... Anyway, we ended with a shared piece of carrot cake and coffee. The carrot cake was out of this world, and it has to be good for you since it's made out of a vegetable. The coffee is french press and should have steeped longer, but we all love strong coffee. We'll definitely go back! Nice, hidden little spot with some great food and staff. Not too expensive, clean and an easy destination.
