Perez is a family business, and I worked with Francisco who was very communicative and up front about all the details of the job. His crew was very hard working and on schedule. The job entailed a complete tear-off our 30-year old roof and reassembly of the broken chimney. The job started with the new materials getting craned in from the street the week prior. The crew waited for a good window in the weather and started demo the following week. The decades of old roofing material were meticulously removed and supposed of, and the quality, salvageable bricks from the chimney were saved and cleaned for reuse. They used a 5-ton dump truck to haul away 4 loads of old roofing material. For those doing the math at home, that's 40,000 lbs. of old roofing material removed from the property. The removal exposed quite a bit of brick damage to the parapet walls, and Perez was right there to fix the brick with a fresh concrete pour. They did everything they could to refresh a 100+ year-old building and make it watertight again and it's all holding up nicely. Once the mortar was dry, and over the next few days, they replaced some of the plywood that was rotted, began to apply the underlayment, then the top granulated, and added new vents. They even pulled all the parapet caps and wrap the ends of the brick properly. The chimney was completely rebuilt from the rooftop up and they added a cap for added weather proofing. All in all, very happy with the service that Perez provided and would use them again if I ever needed roof replacement or repair, or masonry. Highly recommend, great value!

We gave them 7 opportunities over the course of an entire year to come out and fix the issue and each time their "fix" made the leaks worse. They gaslighted us consistently saying the roof wasn't the problem and had us chasing down other issues like tuckpointing, plumbing, sliding door replacements etc and nothing helped. The damage eventually got so bad that we needed a restoration company to come open up the ceiling in 3 rooms. We finally hired a second company to do another full replacement and haven't had a single issue since then. TAR refused to take any accountability or refund us any money. All told we are out over $40,000 thanks to TAR.

While JJ wasn't the lowest, they were the most comprehensive. For example, all of the other quotes quoted the shingles and work, but JJ Construction quoted shingles, tiles, gutters, and all hardware (new fans/vents/gutters). They are highly skilled. They did not rush the project (who wants a roofer who rushes?) and cleaned up every day. Communication was excellent. They installed Class 4 shingles, which lowered my home owners insurance by 20%. They tell me what the issues are and what it will take to repair, but I have no clue what they are talking about. All I can say is Eli was SUPER patient with all of our questions and concerns. We got several quotes, and the prices were all fairly similar. But Tony took the time to send us photos and videos of the roof so we understood exactly why each part of the work needed to be done. That transparency is why we chose him, and we couldn't have been luckier that we did. Once the work began, it turned out our roof hadn't been built to code in the first place. Years of water damage meant the plywood and even several rafters had to be replaced. Tony walked us through every step and kept sending us videos throughout the process. Naturally, these unexpected findings added to the cost, but he was incredibly understanding about our situation and gave us generous discounts on the additional work and materials. At the time, my father-in-law was working as a roofer in New York, so I was able to run everything by him. He confirmed that everything Tony found and recommended was completely legitimate.
