    Osmanthus oolong tea with cream
    Selene S.

First time trying Chicha! I was in the area and came after lunch. Luckily, the line wasn't too long with a 15 min wait time for drinks. Ambiance was nice with some seating and clean interior. I got the osmanthus oolong tea with cream ($7.75). It was very floral and quite creamy due to the topping. I had light sweet and less ice. I only wished it was a bigger cup for the price.

Refreshing beverage in Alhambra, Los Angeles, California... We were walking along the street when I recognized the name of this shop: Chicha San Chen I had been to the Las Vegas location with my sister because her daughter highly recommended it. Chicha San Chen is originally from Taiwan and is such a premium product that it has won awards that are like Michelin Star quality. There was a long line. I skipped it by ordering online. While waiting for my order, I saved a table and a bench for my friends, then I used the convenient restroom! This is a really clean and bright place! When I got my passionfruit green tea, it was packaged so neatly in a to-go bag! The flavor of tea is strong and the fruitiness is not overpowering nor over sweet, but just right!

We placed our order and paid on the kiosk at the counter, there was a good selection of flavors and special seasonal drinks too. This Tea Shop hand-presses the teas and herbs for each individual order on their Teapresso machine. You can observe the process through the glass window along the front counter. There are five roasting/brew levels: Light, Light-Medium, Medium, Medium Heavy or Heavy. -Choose the type of tea: Milk, Fruit, Black or Green Tea. -Flavors: Honey, Brown Sugar, Mousse, Oolong, Passion Fruit. -Topping Add on: Bubble, Taro Ball, Coconut Jelly or Grass Jelly. -Final step is to choose sweetness level and amount of ice. I bought one of their seasonal teas: Creamy Pineapple Tart made with Oat Milk, bits of Pineapple pieces, Mousse and salted cookie crumb topping. This is a special promotion, not on the regular menu. They had photos of their Pineapple series, with the name Tart, you might think you're getting a dessert instead of a drink. It was perfect, not overly sweet and I would order this again. The shop is spacious, seating along the left side of the room, restrooms located in the back (right side doorway). Sincerely, Rosemary

Was in the area for lunch so stopped by for some boba here since I never tried. They have plenty of seating inside and is very nicely decorated. There is no kiosk to order so you have to line up or use their mobile app. The line wasn't too bad and waited around ten minutes. I ordered the Osmanthus Oolong with cream, less ice and 30% sugar. The girl at the counter was friendly when she took my order. They were busy so drinks took 15 or 20 minutes to be ready. They put the drink in a cute little sleeve with a strap so its easier to hold. The osmanthus flavor was fragrant and nicely went with the oolong so it wasn't bitter. The cream on top was a bit average and didn't taste that good with the osmanthus oolong since it covered the osmanthus taste a bit. The cream is like coffee cream and not like the sea salt cream I kind of expected, which was my fault. However, the tea quality was good and authentic. Next time I will not be getting the cream with my tea so I can fully enjoy the tea.

I always only get one thing here: dong ding oolong with mousse. I got 0% sweet and it was perfect with the sugar from the mousse. I used to get 50% but always felt it was too sweet. I usually get it with taro balls but turns out it was seasonal when i came few days ago. It definitely didnt feel seasonal bc i always get taro balls idk why they stopped it i was so sad. Pls bring back the taro balls :'(

Why is grape flavored green tea and matcha my new favorite thing??? Saw the cute aesthetic of the togo carriers and wanted to try, and the flavor didn't disappoint. The shop is so cute, matching the aesthetic. You order on a tablet, and the baristas immediately get to work (great service). I got the grape green tea, less sweet with less ice, and it was so good. The grape flavor came from actual grapes at the bottom, and it wasn't overly sweet or artificial. Green tea quality was also great. Will definitely be back.

This was my first time here Chicha San Chen (located on Main street) in Alhambra as I was looking for a tea place. This is quite an interesting store. Inside ambiance is clean and modern and yet still somewhat inviting. You can tell that is place offers a more elevated, tea-focused boba experience rather than your typical sugary drink shop with cute decor. I really like the service here. The staff is friendly, patient, and was able to explain their tea brewing process and also gave some good recomendations. I got lucky as there wasn't anyone after me so I could take my time and ask questions. One of the biggest highlights here is the quality of their drink. I have never had such high quality, freshly brewed on the spot, tea beverage. Usually those boba places have premade tea in stock ready for customers so that they can crank out their orders fast. But here you can tell they take their time in seeping the tea and making your drink. Each drink is brewed fresh to order using their signature "teaspresso" method, which really brings out the depth of the tea flavors . I got their Honey Osmanthus Oolong Tea that was somewhat light, floral, and with a deep oolong flavor. Loved it! I can definitely taste the pemium tea leaves, and the drinks taste smoother and less artificial compared to many other boba spots. I also got their Cassia Black Tea with Mousse that included a creamy foam top. Interesting combo for sure. Side stree parking only and it did take a few minutes to find a spot during peak times, but it's manageable. Will drop by again next time I am here in SGV!

02/28/26 Saturday Award winning Taiwanese milk tea shop. Liked the transparency with the glass walls to allow you to see workers crafting the drinks. A bit pricey for the amount you get. The drink cups are on the smaller side. 9/10 Taro Milk Tea - light sweet is perfect because the taro paste and balls are sweetened. Just wish I could customize so it is milk instead of cream. So delicious and addicting but small portion size. Can still taste the tea despite the cream and taro. 8/10 Dong Ding Oolong Tea - probably should've gotten full sweet as it was very lightly sweetened at 75% sweetness. However, you can definitely taste the high quality loose leaf tea through the milk. Long wait, probably because today was the lunar new year festival happening on the same street this shop is situated. About 20 minutes in line to order because only one order kiosk and another 20 minutes to receive our drink. No one mans the orders, only workers to make drinks. Parking is limited because it is on Main Street.

oolong with mango and grass jelly

I've been going back and forth to Arcadia a lot this year, and because we regularly go to May Mei and Chang's Garden, it's been easy to sneak out, place my tea orderat the kiosk, go back to finish the meal, then get my tea. My usual order is mango oolong with grass jelly, which is still sweet enough for me at 0% sweetness. They take the tea seriously here - each cup is brewed upon ordering so it's not fast. They also have some cute twine to go around the top of the cup. The sizes are on the smaller side. They open at noon, so I've been too early to get something a few times. Heading back to LA again this week, I will probably end up here again at some point!

While waiting for our reservation, we ventured to this tea spot because we were parched. Good size crowd in this very modern setup. Offered samples once you got to the counter. The flavor of the day was a honey oolong. I got the Iced Pineapple Green Tea with boba. Seasonal flavor. Did have to wait a few for our tea but worth it. Loved the way it was presented and tasted great!

    Taro Milk Tea
    Fortuna N.

Wow I get the hype of this place, they have high quality tea for their boba and their machines prove it. The place is very pristine, clean, and modern with their design and seating. If you take it to go, they give you their classic boba carrier with string. I don't really like taro but I LOVE their taro series. I got their: Taro Milk Tea (5/5): Which comes with their black tea blended with cream to create a milk tea base, thick slab of taro paste at the bottom, with their chewy taro balls. The black milk tea base was perfectly sweetened and went so well with the taro paste. Mix it up and it tasted even better blended throughout. I also love the chewiness of their taro balls that was flavored so well. I would come back to try their other drinks!

My favorite drinks are back. The only time i would come to chicha is for their taro series. I can't decide which one is better betweem the milk tea or the fresh milk. But the taro paste and balls are what makes the drink amazing. Wished it was permanent but since it's not that's fine. Save me money since drinks are overpriced. When you come in, you line up to place your order on the kiosk. Then you wait for for drinks to be called. But most of the time they make alot of orders then call people to pick them up so i just show them my receipt instead of waiting. Otherwise you waste more time since drinks take a while.

Cassia with Mousse ($7.25), Green Tea with Passion ($7.25), Taro Ball Tea Latte ($8.25), Dong Ding Oolong Tea ($6). 12/27/2025

As always, I love Chicha San Chen for their aesthetics and tea. It has been over a year since I've been to one and this is my first time at their Alhambra location. The interior of this location is huge! Very clean and open. We got lucky and there was no line on a Saturday afternoon. We ordered Cassia with Mousse ($7.25), Green Tea with Passion ($7.25), Taro Ball Tea Latte ($8.25), Dong Ding Oolong Tea ($6). I forgot that the mousse has a sweet flavoring to it that makes it a bit too sweet even for this sweet tooth. Their drinks are very expensive for what it is. The size is on the smaller side and for a basic tea with no milk or add-ons, its already $6. The tea does taste good, but nothing too great. Overall, I think I still like Chicha San Chen for what it is, but I wouldn't frequent them all the time.

When you arrive, be sure to write your party size on the sign-in sheet to secure your spot--there often isn't staff at the door to assist, so you'll need to manage it yourself. We visited after a long day and only had to wait about 30 minutes. Overall, the food was pretty average--or "mid," as the kids say--and I didn't feel it lived up to the hype. Here is a breakdown of what we ordered: * #26 Shanghai Style Chow Mein ($13.99): This was the standout. The noodles are thick, almost udon-style, and it's great comfort food. I would definitely come back just for this dish. * #1 XLB Juicy Pork Dumplings ($9.99): These were just okay. Not bad, but not great, and I'd likely choose somewhere else for dumplings next time. * #16 Spicy Wontons with Pork and Shrimp ($11.99): These didn't "wow" me, though I did enjoy the chili oil. I might order these again. * #62 French Style Beef Tenderloin ($17.99): The meat was very soft, but I've had better versions elsewhere, so this will be a skip for me in the future. * #83 House Special Fish Fillet ($15.99): It was very crispy with flaky fish, but the batter was quite heavy. It was enjoyable at first, but I got tired of it quickly. While the Shanghai Style Chow Mein is worth a revisit, nothing else stood out enough to make this a regular spot for us. It's a 3.5/5 experience, but I probably won't be back anytime soon.

Btw, cash, Zelle, or Venmo payment ONLY for bill total under $50. Bring cash if you don't plan to eat lots.

I have had ones in previous visits that the beef was chewy, not tender. You have a choice of regular noodles or hand torn noodles. Hand torn noodles are more filling since the noodles are much thicker than the regular noodles. They are both good. It is a matter of preference. The minced pork with noodles (aka Jia Jiang mien) is also good. For this visit, I did not order dumplings. But their dumplings are usually good. The service is adequate but don't expect good service.

My friend & I visited Yang's Kitchen this past weekend & had a great brunch! We both ordered the…read moreYang's Set w/ our choice of protein, everything was fresh & flavorful. I also got the Ruma Latte, which was delicious--sweet & tasted like caramel in a cup. We shared the mochi pancake after seeing it recommended on TikTok! It's was good but not life changing. We went close to opening, so the atmosphere was peaceful & cozy. The staff was kind & welcoming, though we did have to ask a few times for our table to be cleared. Since the two-person tables are small, a bit more attentiveness would've made the experience even better. Overall, great food, cozy vibes, & I'd definitely come back!

Hubby & I had high expectations for dinner, but we were not impressed by the flavors. Many of the…read moredishes were lacking balance. Yang's fried chicken wings - this was a solid dish. Chicken was juicy. I usually don't eat chicken wings. Even after it got cold, the wings still tasted tender and not dry. Grilled Cabbage with Bagna Cauda - I do like a good cabbage dish, but the cabbage was under charred, way too greasy, & lacked acidity. After finishing the half portion of cabbage, it left an unpleasant after taste. Not a well balanced dish at all. Not my favorite dish. Maybe we should've gotten a simple salad instead. Dan Dan Campanelle - the dish came warm not hot. Good flavors and the Campanelle had a good chew, but not an exceptional dish. Hainan Fish Rice - I was so looking forward to this dish. The fish was cooked perfectly, but again lacking balance. The ginger oil is muted and purely decorative, lacking the sharp, sinus-clearing bite needed to wake up the dish. Without the bright, raw punch of ginger and chili, the dish tastes heavy and one-dimensional. I just wished there were more flavors and not just the taste of oil with each bite of fish and ginger. Good ingredients used, but just too heavy on the oil, too light on the aromatics. We didn't fully enjoy our meal as much as we would've liked. We might come back and try the brunch some day.

After seeing a post about their Taiwanese style goose dish, my foodie family and I decided we had…read moreto give it a try. When I called to make a reservation, the staff explained that the goose dish requires a pre-order and isn't cheap. In fact, the price for half a goose is comparable to ordering a bone-in ribeye steak at a high end steakhouse. However, we are glad we went for it. The goose arrived as a cold cut plate, paired with a special dipping sauce that perfectly balanced the rich, fatty, and flavorful meat. It was my first time having Taiwanese style goose in the US, and it is absolutely worth trying if you have never had it before. The dish also came with a rice noodle soup made with goose oil, which was an excellent bonus. We didn't stop there. From the special lunch menu, we tried the pan fried egg, satay water spinach and lamb, house special braised pork rice, and fried cabbage with egg puff. From the regular menu, we ordered sticky tofu with pork blood cake, steamed cod fish, and sticky rice. The sticky rice was dry and not very flavorful, but everything else hit the spot, especially the mixed pork rice, which was outstanding and highly recommended for anyone craving authentic Taiwanese comfort food. On later visits, we went back for classics like three cup chicken, fried stinky tofu, jalapeño pork, and the Taiwanese cabbage pot. The cabbage pot was a standout, just generous portions, packed with variety, including fish balls, glass noodles, fried pork, and more. Some reviewers mentioned poor service, but our experiences across multiple visits have all been positive. The staff has been attentive, and the prices are very reasonable as long as you stick with the regular menu. Overall, the flavors are authentic, the portions satisfying, the only downside is after eating here I am always feeling thirsty because of MSG, but it won't hurt overall satisfaction and I will definitely keep coming back for more if I am in the area and craving for some Taiwanese cuisine.
