This was my first experience at Chick-Fil-A ever, and while I was impressed with the time that it took to go through the drive-thru line, I was not as impressed with the food. To keep the line moving along, staff members were standing outside to take your order, and would continually tell you to inch forward while they're taking your order. That was a bit awkward, but hey, it got the line moving. They had runners bringing the bags of food out to the drive-thru line, and we got our order before we actually reached the window, and were directed to exit before reaching the window. They accidentally gave us more than we ordered, but I'd rather have additional items versus missing items. But that probably means they had to re-make someone else's order. My guess is that they were pumping out all menu items versus making things as they are ordered, which means the food (most notably the fries) were not hot. Regarding the food itself, I really don't get what the hype is. Nothing really stood out to me. The best thing we got was the milkshake. Maybe fried chicken was not meant to be served in between pieces of bread. In any event, if you like Chick-Fil-A, then more power to you since Oahu now has two locations! read more

It is the opening of chick-fil-a so I was shocked how many people were working! However after speaking with one of the associates, she told me that all the ones with a blue shirt go back because they are from corporate helping with a smooth opening. Moving on with the food. We didn't wait in the drive through but we're walking and decided to stop and grab some food for others too. We had a spicy chicken sandwich deluxe (only way to get it) and a chicken Cobb salad for another person. The lady behind the counter was all smiles and kind and energetic. I love that!! Looks exciting and fresh like their store and I hope it continues. We didn't have to wait that long but I have to say that waiting for the food was hot. I wish they made a longer awning so the Hawaiian sun wouldn't turn us to a crisp! However, the food came out and we went back to the office to enjoy the loot. The sandwich was fresh and looked very good. The salad was the same (but we went again a few days later and today it wasn't so fresh tasting and looking). Everyone was pleasantly surprised so hopefully they will do well. There is no sit down area inside but the drive through looked orderly and nice. Since everything is brand new it all looks great. I do appreciate the cheerfulness of all workers. That's a definite plus to tasty take out. read more

Drove through Chick-fil-a on Beretania Street (old Burger King location) today... had to try out the newest addition to the Chick-fil-a family and support Zane and Jenna! I have to say it was a really nice experience. Police are still monitoring the traffic. Card were lined up past Piikoi but it was very orderly. The staff waved me in and directed me to a spot. Menu is nice and clean, laminated and the order takers are very friendly. I had the basic, Original with honey mustard dressing, waffle fries and a chocolate shake (with whipped cream and a cherry) I didn't want my sandwich to get soggy so I parked and ate it... good! Nice crispy, fries yummy and the chocolate shake hit the spot. I really wanted to get a cow for my newest grandson but they aren't giving them away anymore... they said only the first 2 days. Check your order before you go. I ordered two kids meals for my two toddlers who waited patiently for fries the whole ride there. We spent maybe 10 minutes in line which moved quite quickly for how busy it was onto the Main Street. I regret not checking because they forgot both fries in both kids meals and no sauces for either Nugget meals. I also asked for two sauces for my own meal and only got one. Highly recommend to CHECK your order before you go. I usually do but the kids started crying so I figured I just go and park to give them their food. The Makiki location does not have dine-in, and has two drive-through lanes, manned by staff with handheld ordering devices. They have laminated picture menus, and can take your order and payments. (Yes, I finally used my free breakfast coupon which they gave us at their grand opening, it expires tomorrow;), and they scanned that, too.). Lanes merge, and around the corner is your last window, where they step to your car with your order and verify the name you gave to the drive-through staff member. I normally never have to check my bag of food at chick-fil-a because I always trust them to get it right. This is the only location I've been to where they continue to mess your order up. Five all day on the play. First time at this Chick-fil-A. Last time I've been in one was when I was in Raleigh for a conference over 10 years ago. I had the deluxe spicy combo and my wife had the regular combo. Asked for original and Polynesian sauce and they gave us two of each. Chick-fil-A Honolulu is always a solid choice! I love their chicken sandwich, and the Chick-fil-A sauce just takes it to the next level. I've also tried their Cobb Salad and Market Salad, and both were fresh and really tasty. Of course, you can't go wrong with their waffle fries, especially with Chick-fil-A or Polynesian sauce. For drinks, the frosted lemonade is super refreshing, and their milkshakes are really good--I still need to come back and try the peach shake! The service is quick, friendly, and efficient, but the no inside dining is a bit of a bummer. They only offer drive-thru service, but I'm still glad Oahu has a Chick-fil-A--it's definitely worth the stop for the food! read more

Do I love this place because its a novelty? Since this place has opened I have visited enough to learn that I truly do enjoy their food and customer service. Full discloser, I have never eaten at a mainland location, so I'm not sure if thats good, or bad. Yes...this location is drive through or walk up only, but I've seen the workers bust their butts to make sure cars are helped as quick as possible, and they all manage to be so nice. My favs...chicken nuggets, waffle fries, that crazy good chick-fil-a sauce, the market salad, and a sun joy. We showed up on a Friday at noon, the line of cars was long, but it only took us 8 minutes (from Beretania Street to ordering to receiving our food and zipping away). They never once this morning said my pleasure. They were very rude. This morning 8 ordered 10 chick fil a biscuits for work then I ordered a chicken mini meal for my daughter. They packed the hash browns under 6 biscuits so they were smooshed. When I inquired where the hash browns were and needed verification they were in the bag before driving away, they were rolling their eyes and making faces at each other. I'm unsure if I ordered a meal why the hash browns weren't packed with the minis. Bottom line they are not up to par with mainland chick fila. The line is slow and they have VERY poor customer service. They should consider hiring nicer people with patience. read more

I visited Chic-Fila after visiting a friend in the hospital. I haven't been to the Beretania street location. This was the 1st time. As you pull in, there is a bit of a wait. They have 2 lanes open with several crews waiting to take your order. They even have paper menus for you to order from as they walk the line. Hubby got the Chicken Deluxe meal. I ordered the 8 pc chicken nuggets. Large Sweet Tea and Lemonade. While waiting in line for a moment, we made the turn towards the present window. They have a table outside the window. Three crews were walking the line giving out the orders. The chicken nuggets were tender strips of chicken breast. All white meat. Man, they were delicious. The seasoning was perfect. I didn't even need sauce. I ate each one before I could get in the freeway. Hubby is eating his sandwich. He tears me off a piece of his chicken. It didn't taste like my nuggets. I could actually taste the difference. He enjoyed his sandwich and waffle fries. By the way, the sweet tea is da bomb. Will definitely be back for some CHICKEN read more

When Chick-Fil_A opened in Hawaii I wasn't going to wait in long lines just to have a chicken sandwich. So, while in town mob wife and I decided to try Chick-Fil-A if the line was short. Since it was our first time I parked in front and let my wife walk to the counter so she could ask questions on how or what to order. We had waffle fries, chicken nuggets and a spicy crispy chicken sandwich. The nuggets were OK and my wife enjoyed the sauces that they included. The waffle fries weren't very crispy, even right out of the bag as soon as we got them. My spicy crispy chicken sandwich was a disappointment. Bun, chicken, thin pickles, and a little piece of lettuce. Nothing else, I even had to add mayo to it because my first bite was so dry. I cannot see why people would wait in long lines for this. This is the worst designed fast food location I have ever seen 1. Drive through (0 stars). This drive through is nonsensical. It's a single lane channeling directly off of a busy street (4+ lanes). It blocks 4-5 exits to other businesses, and the entrance itself crosses a sidewalk (which also can't be blocked). Once inside the parking lot, they funnel cars into two separate lanes to order, which merge back into the same lane to a single pickup window. If you've ever been to a Chick-fil-A, you'll understand how ridiculous this is. If they're waiting on a single car's order, there's nowhere to direct the car to wait, so the delay cascades to all the other orders. On a busy day, it may take you 20+ minutes to even get into the drive through, much less get your food If you've heard all this and still want to go, be sure to turn right onto Beretania from Pensacola. If you try to go straight through on a busy day, all of the cars turning right will just block the intersection so it's impossible to go straight 2. Seating (0 stars. there is none). Yep no picnic tables, no nothing. Heck, they don't even have a parking lot. Why have a walk-up window if there's nowhere to eat? I guess they expect people to walk across the street to McDonalds How this location was ever approved is beyond me. The city should start fining them for blocking an entire lane of traffic, an intersection, the sidewalk, and entrances to all of the other businesses on the block until they figure it out 3. Unlike other drive through or restaurants on the island, they are all friendly and nice. They are also helpful if you're not sure what you want to order. Very fast service even during rush hour.
