My favorite place to eat. The atmosphere is a dive but clean as can be. The food is always delicious for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The daily specials are creative and something you would normally find in a high priced restaurant. The hours posted are incorrect. Being a self proclaimed Fried Chicken expert, I couldnt get to my PC fast enough to share my Review of Chick N Ellys. First off, the interior of this place is obviously a converted bar, with horrible decor... Im not here to review that, but did want to mention that if your walk in cooler is accessible from the dining room... it makes for an awkward dining experience. Ok, on to the Food. I have had better fried chicken from Gas Stations. Seriously, this crap is flavorless, bland and ill prepared. Its obvious by the speed of delivery and temperature of my meal the chicken is pre fried early in the day, or perhaps last Thursday... then either flash fried to order or Microwaved. The batter has absolutely no flavor, except for the after taste from a dirty fryer. I hate to leave such a negative review, but this is not even Home Ec 101, they should be ashamed to serve that crap for those prices. The other thing: the Mashed Potatoes were clumpy, day old and disgusting... these too were microwaved. They even managed to Screw up Cole Slaw... I cant believe I paid $12 for a 3 piece lunch... oh well. Overall: Food: 0/5, reheating fried chicken should be illegal. Presentation: 1/5, thanks for spilling my gravy on my chicken leg... it almost made it taste like something. Decor:1/5 - whatever. Just stay away from this place, Schnucks has better fried chicken, and you can get a 12 piece for the same price as 3. Staff: She was very friendly which was the only saving grace. Side Note: they have a placard stating they do a RSVP dinner each month, more of a sit down fine dining experience for $35/person. This is an example of basic food. Not bad but by no means great. The burger was very plain and greasy with little to no seasoning or extras put into it. The fries are no better than a frozen bag of fries I could bake at home. Now, the waitress was extremely kind and the the atmosphere was relaxed, so that's a plus. I live in Eureka and the fam and I walked in need of some food fuel. I'd never been but heard it was ok and decent yelp reviews. The food was ok/normal, not memorable and not disgusting. The water was nasty for sure. However the reason for 1 star- the waitress was just super rude. We are a friendly family and l believe very polite. This lady was SUPER RUDE to my children and in fact at one time she looked at my 9 year old like she wanted to hit him. If you like service, don't go here. You've been warned. read more

Consider this a 3.5. My family and I have lived nearby for a while but have never dropped in. I wanted to try someplace new so we came in about 7pm on a Saturday. Just a few tables were occupied and we picked our own out. Dive bar feel but very clean. Right away we were pleased with the menu. American comfort food at very competitive prices. I started with a cup of their chili and was pleasantly surprised. For dinner I had the "Ultimate steakhouse burger" which was served on a hoagie with onion ring, horseradish sauce, cheese and another sauce. Good size and well prepared. They don't ask you how you want it cooked so I was prepared for well done. Onion rings as a side were awesome. My wife had the All American burger and was pleased but not blown away, her side salad was good for a side. No children's menu so our kids had full entrees which was okay because of the reasonable prices. Son had a French dip which was great and the daughter had a chili cheese dog which was served horseshoe style on 2 big pieces of Texas Toast. They don't have a soda machine so soft drink was served glass of ice and a can. Overall a very pleasant experience for about 40 bucks and lots of leftovers to take home. We are excited to come back and try their fried chicken and wings. read more

Stopped in to grab some wings for an early lunch. They were excellent. We had jamaican jerk, bayou butt burner and habanero. The wings were cooked perfectly crisp and were not soft and fatty (thats one of my pet peeves about wings at a lot of places). The place is small and cash only so be prepared. Chick-N-Elly's used to have fabulous home-style fried chicken. There isn't another chicken place in town, so it was convenient for us. We decided to treat ourselves today, so my husband and I went after not being there a few months. What. A. Change. The place has been painted-with a big "Chick-n-Elly's" on the wall. The waitress asked us, "Drinks," totally rudely. We told her we wanted the 3 piece chicken dinner like we always get. She said, "Oh, we don't serve chicken anymore." Are you kidding? It says CHICKEN on your wall! And a huge stuffed chicken in front of your front door! She said Elly wanted to focus on breakfast now. oooookkaay...then why are you open for dinner? We ordered the Chick-n-Elly burger and the Greek burger. The Greek burger was nasty. The meat was tough and dense and sort of hockey puck . The sauce on it was tasteless and the spinach was slimy. The CNE burger was about the same. The fries tasted like they were frozen from Wal-mart. We also got chicken wings. The sauce was pretty good, but we bit into one and it was still bloody inside. Overall, we are so disappointed that a neighborhood restaurant is making choices that will be certain death. Sad for CNE...we won't be going back. read more

Yummy!!! We got stuck not being able to attend the Six Flags flea market due to all the craziness of people there. We decided to patronize the local businesses in Eureka instead. We went to the small shops and fun antique stores in the area. We decided to stay local and went to lunch at Chick - N- Elly's. I was really surprised at all the Yelp reviews. They were great! So I convinced my family to try it out. First off, this place is SMALL. Like really small and intimate. You will hear your neighbors talking for sure. So if you have a big group of people, well this isn't the place for you. I would say they seat up to 6 people the max. There were 4 of us and a kiddo and we were in one of the two larger tables there. So it is rustic and I believe it may have been an old bar that they converted into a restaurant. They serve breakfast and lunch only. They are open i think from 6 to 2:30. Food: Was really good. Three of us had burgers and my aunt chose the chili mac. The cool thing about the Chili Mac was mac n cheese with chili on top. It was soooo good and a cool concept (never would have thought of that). I had the pretzel burger, my mom the bagel burger, and sis the mushroom and swiss. So they have different and interesting types of burgers. They are HUGE and flavorful. I know they were super busy but I would like to go when it isn't as rushed. Service was still good, but I could tell it was overwhelming for the staff due to the constant stream of tables. I read the other review, and my experience was completely different. I have been there three times for dinner, each time having fried chicken. My wife had it twice and had a burger to sample the menu. Each time, the chicken was fresh, hot and some of the best I have had. My daughter tried some "to go box take home" and said it was the best chicken she had eaten. I am not an expert at anything, but have eaten fried chicken from Alabama to China, and I would recommend this place. Can't speak for lunch, but the dinners there have been great. read more

My wife and I used to come here for breakfast all the time on the weekends. The breakfast food is great and satisfies the feelings of being in a small diner. However we stopped due to service. You hope to have a peaceful breakfast but one of the servers screams so loud over the diner talking to the air instead of directly it at one table. A busy service is clearly not for her. I don't want to feel rushed and it always feels that way and I also need my server to look at me and speak with a normal tone versus yelling her question while walking by. We've looked around and all the tables are laughing bc we have no clue who's she's asking for more coffee? It doesn't seem to bother the owner but she's laidback. Hopefully they take this into consideration. The LOUD waitress needs to calm down and focus. It's breakfast, not a nightclub. Customers would appreciate it. read more

Kate was our server and she was great. Ordered the mushroom Gouda soup and roast beef with cheese sandwich. Both were very good.

The place was run down, super TINY!! 1 bartender to cover the bar patrons as well as any dine-in folks during a weekday lunch time, & she was super casual. Friendly to the regulars. We could safely call this place "quaint". The food was ok, nothing special IMHO. TV over the bar. It's listed as "family friendly", but having a few high chairs doesn't qualify it as family friendly. Maybe I just didn't come at the right time of day to get all that other reviews have stated. The bathroom is super small, not accommodating for anyone of medium or larger stature. There are better places in Eureka for casual, comfortable meals with friends and family. read more

Solid food at Chick-N-Elly's. They have a good selection of wing flavors. Try the lemon garlic parmesan, house buffalo, Thai peanut, or sriracha chili. 15 sauces to try in all. The cheese steak is another delicious option. Chick-N-Elly's also offers a great breakfast menu. First I'd like to say that I LOVE the food here and I believe in supporting local businesses 100%. I've frequented this establishment close to a dozen times with my family. It's a little bit crowded but they make it work. It's a warm and friendly restaurant. The waitresses bust it out and the cook is FAST! On our last visit Sunday morning of March 4th, we were seated promptly but after that we went unaddressed for at least 10 minutes. I noticed a bit of confusion as there is two entrances to the restaurant. Folks that had come in well after we arrived were getting coffee etc etc. I only offer an observation. Perhaps limiting the entrance to one side or the other might eliminate a customer going unattended. Once we had our order taken, the service returned to its usual promptness and we got our meal quickly and delicious as always. I certainly want to commend the gals holding the front down because it was only 2 of them RUNNING around. My hats off to the cook/cooks in back. They always have fresh hot food delivered QUICKLY. This is the best place to eat in Eureka. I have grown three pant sizes since I have moved back home. This place is warm and inviting and the staff is friendly. When Nick get an idea for a special I always try it and I am never disappointed. When he makes Chicken Marsala I will go out of my way to get there. Went here yesterday after leaving Purina farms, with my 3 year old. It was a small cute place and food was pretty good (all we got were Appetizers). Indont feel like I can say too much about the food considering i was sharing cheese fries and pretzels with a slobbery toddler,but the service and every thing beyond that left me so happy. I have been managing a fine dining resturant for 5 years and its hard to 1, find good help but 2, find help that cares and has a personality that carries the establishment. Our server, though not sure of her name, was amazing! When she would come to the table she would interact with not only me, but my son and was so sweet and felt genuially interested in not only us, but the other guest. For the first time in my life, I as a guest spoke to all the other guest as we were all just sitting and having lunch together. No one seemed bothered by my restless child when he started getting up wanting to walk away, rather they talked to him and asked him questions. Best dining expierence I've ever had! I cant wait to go back and try more then French fries. read more

I went to Chick-N-Elly's twice when I was in St. Louis visiting relatives and I found the food and service very good. As a matter of fact, my great grandparents had a tavern there many years ago prior to it being Chick-N-Elly's. With that said, it is a converted bar. As a matter of fact, the walk in cooler, is the original that was there when my great grandparents owned it. The bar is original as well. The parking lot used to be a playground so the kids could play. The building has a lot of history and I feel the new owners are doing an excellent job. The building next door was once the home that my great grandparents lived in. In recent years it has been converted to a business. I thank everyone at Chick-N-Elly's for a great eating establishment and keeping the history intact as well. I look forward to my next visit. Thank you, Nancy P.S. Let me start by saying I have been in the Restaurant Business 20 years. I see things that other customers over look and sometimes it is hard not to be critical of an establishment. This is not the case here. My wife and I and our four legged friends have truly enjoyed our meals and relaxation time on the deck at Chick-N-Elly's. We have tried everything on the menu except the Habanero Wings, The Bayou Butt Burners were plenty warm enough! :) I had the opportunity one night to be here on "Steak Night"- I ordered the special expecting a decent steak and the usual sides, boy was I surprised. A juicy perfectly cooked 12oz. ribeye arrived with a nice creamy roasted corn risotto and perfectly cooked baby Brussels sprouts. My wife had the Philly sandwich, that was equally delicious. If you are here for "fried chicken" I guess you may be disappointed because I have never seen it offered. I encourage everyone to eat thru the menu and try it. We have eaten at Chick-n-Elly's 5 times and always tell others how good it is. As far as service goes, these girls work very hard and are always attentive and happy. We happened in on a block party night and everyone there made us as comfortable as possible even though the place was a sea of people! Its a nice short drive from the city and well worth it, fun quiet town with great people. Chick-N-Elly's has a little something for everyone is relaxing and comfortable and has become a go to spot for us. Keep It Up guys! read more
