I was in the neighborhood actually getting boba from a different place. I saw the sign and I decided to check it out. I noticed that the happy hour which is daily had $1 wings. I decided to try out some wings. I ended up trying 5 of the 6 flavors: Hot Spicy, Spicy & Sweet, Soy Garlic, Cajun Lemon and Original. I think the Original and Soy garlic were the best ones. I had to drive home so it was about 30 minutes away. They left the boxes open to try and keep the wings as crispy as possible. I think if you get these in house, they would be super delicious. I will admit these wings were pretty meaty, a very good size. I am used to seeing smaller or average size at a lot of wing spots. The lady working (Elizabeth) was super helpful and friendly. I chatted with her while my order was ready to go. Decor seems nice, there is a bar and some tables as well. If you are in the area, I would definitely stop in for $1 wings during happy hour. My friend recommended us to try their Korean fried chicken wings. There is a lot of parking in the plaza they are located in and it is easy to find. There aren't too many tables, but there is a bar area where they offer seating as well. I got the lunch special and they gave out a good amount of food! The food came out pretty quick and the staff was attentive. I wish I could taste the soy garlic sauce a little more, but overall the food was great! I would pass on the drinks because the boba was overcooked and it didn't have any flavor or sweetness to it. I came here for dinner with family and a friend on a Tuesday night. It was not busy. We were immediately sat and helped by the waitress. I ordered my usual boneless chicken with half of them hot & spicy sauce and the other half with cajun lemon sauce. Tasted fresh and good as usual. The chicken is always juicy and I love the pickled radish and jalapeños they come with. I ordered an extra side of the pickled radishes and a bowl of rice. It was my dad and friend's first time here. Per usual, they were skeptical of this place but like everyone else I introduce to this spot, they were blown away. My dad kept talking about how surprised he was by how much he liked the chicken. He got a combo plate with boneless and bone in chicken and he got the same sauces as me but with them on the side so he could dip the chicken. Service was awesome. Food came out really fast. Lunch special pricing was awesome. Love the soup they gave out. The only thing that's lacking is the seasoning on the chicken and the type of meat they use for boneless chicken. I think they use white meat for chicken for boneless, which I appreciate, but me personally i don't like it, i prefer my meat dark and juicy. I recently tried this restaurant, and while the $1 happy hour chicken is a great deal, the chicken itself was a bit disappointing. It was small, and not at all crunchy. Also, most korean fried chicken comes with pickled radish or salad but this place had to order additionally. The service wasn't great either. The lady was pretty mean. 9 times out of 10, if you give my son the option of choosing what to have for dinner, you're gonna be eating chicken wings. Searching around for new spots to try, Chicken Basket and Boba popped up on our radar and a Boys' Night Out was set to test it out. Located in La Costa Town Square, it has a nice spot near a sushi restaurant and Habit, giving options for groups with different hankerings, and a SusieCakes for post dinner deliciousness. We started with the TakoYaki, a favorite of my son whenever he sees it on the menu. Here, it was a bit undercooked, making the interior goopy, and the Honey Mustard sauce served on top was a huge misfire of flavor. Both of us scraped it off while eating and my son ended up not wanting to finish his half of it. Still, the taste of the octopus itself was pretty good once you got passed the wet texture. For his wings, my son opted for the Mild, while I chose the Sweet & Spicy. The breading on the wings was gorgeous; a beautiful crust with a nice crunch, good flavor, and great overall texture. The sauces, however, were a bit bland both in heat and in taste, not adding much in terms of differentiating one from the other. Additionally, though the crust was fried well, the ends of the wings weren't cooked to the point where the gristly bits became delightfully chewy. This is more of a personal thing, but for anyone who likes to leave a clean bone like I do, they may find that texture not up to their own standards either. The real star of our meal, however, were our drinks. With an Original Milk Tea and a Tiger Milk Tea on the table, my son and I guzzled both down and relished in the sugary flavors. Even in my advancing years, when I find myself not really enjoying sweets as much as I used to, I couldn't get enough of their fantastic Boba Tea. If I'm ever nearby in the future, coming by for another can would definitely be worth it. In the end, not the best of flavors, but a clear home run on that cooking style. If you're at this shopping center, if you come for anything, grab yourself some of this Boba. Even if you're not a fan of those tapioca balls, you can't deny how tasty the tea itself can be. I had the worst service ever, I walked in and was going to eat at the restaurant. I placed my order of wings at 3:00 and I waited and 40 minutes later no food. I asked the waiter how much longer and he told me oh didn't the waitress tell you she was waiting until 3:30 to put in your order and it was going to be 15 more minutes. Had some time to kill so decided to stop by for the happy hour ($1 wings and $2 drum stick). I got the hot spicy and soy garlic. I only ordered the wings, but the nice man working threw in a drum stick for me to try. These wings were crispy, juicy, and sauced perfectly. I'm excited to try more flavors next time. How had I not tried this place before!? Had a craving for Korean food and Chicken Basket popped up on Yelp. Didn't look very Korean but there were definitely certain Korean items that I enjoy. So decided to order few things. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are huge. I thought the portions were small. Unknowingly I ordered way more than what our stomachs could handle. But we're okay with that as we can save it for later. Ordered... Kim chi fried rice-Delicious! Mango corn slaw-Slightly too sweet. Popcorn Langoustines-Yummy (came with fries)! 4 wing/drumstick combo (spicy & sweet)-Perfection! Potstickers (5 pieces/Vegetarian)-Yummy! Ocean pancake-seafood vegetable pancakes were delicious! Today is National Fried Chicken day, so of course I had to try the new chicken place near my house. This is Korean fried chicken, made with rice flour, so the chicken is crispier, lighter, and not as greasy as regular fried chicken. The menu was similar to the Rice Chicken place I go to in Carmel Mountain area, but much more extensive boba menu (hence the name has Boba in it). I ended up getting 12 pieces and they were so generous with the seasoning of garlic soy that I'm glad I didn't choose for the sauce to be on the side. Their horchata slush boba came in a clear can? But it's customized to what you want. I thought that was really cool. It was very flavorful. I'll be back for more and order the cheese corn next time. I'm so glad this is near my house, so I can have Korean fried chicken whenever I want. read more

Had a massive craving for Korean chicken, tteokbokki, and boba, so I ordered ahead. My order was ready when it said it would be, which is great for lunch breaks! The inside looks really new and well maintained. I would highly recommend this place. This is one of the best spots I've visited in North County. One small negative is that I visited about 30 minutes before they closed one night, and they were totally closed. I was a bit sad, but it's understandable. Maybe they were understaffed? Who knows? DRINKS Original Milk Tea w Boba - Interesting concept of it coming in a can. I feel like with the size of the can, you do not get much tea or boba. The tea itself was very good though! Never was a milk tea fan but this one was so tasty. The boba pearls were soft and chewy as well. We were impressed. Matcha Green Tea w Boba - This came in a cup instead of a can. I'm not a matcha person so this was too much for me but I can see someone who enjoys matcha liking the flavors of this drink. FOOD Soy Garlic - The chicken was very crispy and the size of the wings was decent. This was our favorite flavor. Savory with some sweetness to it. Chicken was well cooked. Spicy & Sweet - The flavor here was good too but we did not get much of the spiciness. I think they need to kick it up a bit to call it "spicy" and sweet. Fried Rice - Pretty subpar. 07.15.2021 ***BOBA REVIEW ONLY*** The closest place hubby wanted to drive to for boba from Carlsbad. Little O got the Brown Sugar (Dirty) Milk Tea which had good flavor and the boba was cooked well. I tried the Passion Fruit Jasmine Green Tea with 50% sugar and rainbow jelly. The rainbow jelly was made well and the passion fruit green tea was sweet enough at 50%. Very light and refreshing for a warm north county day. Great tasting teas in adorable pop top (like soda) plastic containers. Little O was in awe and decided to keep her drink container after drinking all of her boba. Service was friendly and quick. We waited outside for our order as there were a lot of people eating in and no one was wearing masks. We'll have to come back and try some food and other drinks another time. read more

The fried chicken is hit or miss, sometimes it's all breading and no meat, sometimes it's delicious. I would never buy anything else from this establishment(although i made the mistake of buying boba here once, just go to teaspoon across the street). Also extremely overpriced. Only time it's worth to eat here is during the 1.50$ wing lunch special. Do not add any specifications to your order bc they inevitably mess it up. I was a little concerned at first due to the poor rating on yelp but the photos of the food didn't look too bad and we were already there so we decided to go for it. We ordered their lunch special which came with rice, 8 pieces of fried chicken, and salad/soup along with pickled veggies. We had a choice of indoor or outdoor seating so we chose to sit outdoors. The food came out quickly. The service was very friendly and quick. Overall, it was a better experience than both of us expected. I would definitely come back to try their unique canned boba drinks. It's pricey The hot and spicy sauce is maybe a 2 on the hot scale so bring your own if you truly like hot. The boneless chicken is dry, very dry. The wings were so much better and didn't feel greasy which makes me wonder.... The jalapeño radish salad is meh. But they are close and friendly so we will order appropriately. Sauces can be found anywhere, so I like Korean-fried chicken for its crispiness. Its lack of crispiness does not satisfy me. Chicken Basket's main competitor's chicken is still crispy when it arrives and it is further away from my home. My spouse does not like the chicken from Chicken Basket at all. It's too expensive for what one gets. Finally, I won't order from this place again because of its health inspection reports. It's had too many violations over multiple routine inspections, and the last one in August 2023 was the most dangerous to customers. It had three violations that can each give customers serious/dangerous food-borne illnesses. There is no acceptable excuse! read more

I'd just been talking about how I miss LA K-Town KFC when I spotted this place so I stopped in to try a small order of wings and get my daughter a boba. The wings were good, but the hot and spicy was not very spicy. (Though I understand they're probably adjusting for the demographic.) The chicken mu (radish pickle) was good, but the knife work was kind of all over the place - so many different sizes and shapes of radish pieces. A previous yelp review said the radish was meh, but that pickle is a typical side that goes with Korean roast or fried chicken and is meant to be eaten together so you get contrast of flavor and texture. Hopefully that helps someone else's experience. If they put a few pieces of deep fried dduk on top of my wings order, that would go a long way in satisfying my K-Town KFC cravings, please. :) And my biggest complaint is that the entire place smelled like Fabuloso when I walked in and if I were planning to dine in rather than take out, I would have walked right out of the joint and not returned. It's a huge peeve of mine to smell strong cleaning products while I'm trying to enjoy my food. Luckily, I was taking it to go and didn't have to smell it while I ate. I really wish more restaurant owners knew how off-putting that smell can be around food. Based on previous yelpers, I would agree Boba drinks are PRICEY for a small. Flavoring on my original milk tea was tasty. Tried this place out last night because we were in the area. When we walked in the music was so loud! I really wasn't expecting that, I'll admit it was really off putting at first. We looked at the menu which was one sheet front and back. We waited like 10-15 minutes for our food to arrive, the onion rings were delicious! Really crispy and a good size. The yakitori was so good!! That was probably my favorite thing overall along with the pickled radish. The chicken was just okay for me. The sauce was alright and the chicken was okay. I ordered the Chicken Combo to go and was greatly disappointed and left unsatisfied. Chicken lacked the crispness and soy garlic glaze that you would usually get at a Korean Fried Chicken restaurant. As for the soup, I was expecting a miso soup but was given chicken soup that tasted like chicken soup you could get at the Vons next door and then the Salad looked like they threw a pinch of greens in there and called it a day. I think my daughter did a good job with her review of the experience at Chicken Basket and Boba: "Wouldn't recommend, the waitress kept asking if we were ready, music is not kid-friendly, and it was so empty and there were only three tables, the food is pretty good but that is the only Pro overall." To provide more context, this is a counter service restaurant and isn't marketed as family-friendly. However, the server seemed most interested in taking our order so she could hang out with her friend who came to the restaurant. She seemed annoyed that she had any customers at all. And as far as the music, the kids and I love hip-hop, including what was playing - Drake, Kendrick Lamar, and Kanye. However, the restaurant wasn't playing the radio edited songs, and the uncensored versions are full of cuss words and extremely offensive language that is not appropriate to play in a public setting. It was also very loud. While we were there, 2 kids from a nearby martial arts studio came in to pick up their order for their family. They were definitely under 10 years old. My husband and I both got the Chicken Bowl lunch special, which includes a small salad, and we were very impressed with the amount of food for the price. We also got a side of pickled radish and it also was a generous portion size. We thought everything was delicious. The spicy sauce could have a little more heat, in my opinion, and it also tasted too similar to my husband's sweet and spicy sauce. We dined in. It took awhile for our order to be taken, even though the staff didn't seem busy, but one of the servers did apologize and admitted that she thought we had been helped already. Everyone was friendly and accommodating. My biggest issue was that the waitstaff could not tell us if there are peanuts in the salad dressing, which came with my son's kids meal. My son is allergic to peanuts. When I asked if they could find out (look at the label) they said that there was no label for them to check and they didn't know. They advised that my son just not eat the salad, to be safe. Allergy information is important in restaurants. The waitstaff should have access to that information.
