Just tried Teaspoon yesterday and the guava and pineapple drink was really good and not overly sweet. I recommend shaking it lightly before putting in the bamboo straw. The cashier was really nice and gave us a sample of their teas and desserts. It was very clean inside and fairly busy when I stopped in during lunch hours on a Friday... This used to be my favorite boba spot in Carlsbad. Unfortunately now, drinks are just subpar. It's become more of a place my kids wants to come for the dopamine hits of the claw machine. It's actually super frustrating that drinks that "come with boba" you can't just sub it out for another topping. I literally had to fight with the cashier that I wanted grass jelly instead of boba with my Thai tea and she still wanted to charge me an extra $1 for the change. It's A SUBSTITUTION. I visited here about a month back and ordered the matcha strawberry and unfortunately the matcha was very bitter, I got regular sweetness but the bitterness of the drink was severe. Usually the other drinks are pretty decent so it may have just been a one off but an unfortunate one off to spend $8 since the drinks are a little pricier at this location specifically at around $8 per base drink meaning without any toppings. It would be cool to see more drinks come with boba given that they are higher priced in comparison to places that you get the drink and boba for less than $8. However if the drink is good, maybe it's worth it but in this case, it was an extra fee on top of the drink I didn't enjoy. In the future I will try and return and get something different in hopes for a better experience next time read more

Stopped by on a Thursday afternoon and the shop was pretty empty but there's sufficient seating for those who want to hangout after work or school. Ordered an osmanthus milk tea with brown sugar boba and crystal jelly and it was pretty decent. I will say, the boba had a bit of a sour aftertaste (i noticed it when I was driving so didn't bother going back). I wouldn't say that it's from the boba going bad but I'd recommend the shop to test with different types of honey/syrups. Some react oddly to the starch of the boba and creates a sour taste. (Experienced this with a few shops before so it's not a major alarming thing for me, though I could see why other customers might flag this). Consistency of the pearls was good at least. The tea itself was floral, not too strong so for a younger audience, this is good. Service was good and employees were nice and kept the place clean. I'm a little neutral on the shop, so idk if I'd come back or not. Tbd. Teaspoon is a solid spot to get boba. Their drinks are refreshing and unique. I was excited when they announced that they would have their double matcha so I had to try it. I got it with oat milk and 25% sweet. It was a solid 3.5/5. It was on the sweeter side and the matcha flavor was not as strong as I'd like it to be. It's definitely better than a Starbucks or Better buzzed matcha but not something I would go out of my way for. Service was great and our drinks came out pretty quick. Update: Teaspoon reached out to me and let me know that I could have adjusted the matcha pour and made it stronger. That would have definitely improved the drink and make it a 5/5. I recommend trying the double matcha and requesting a heavy pour of matcha. Once again service was great and I'll definitely have to try this new adjustment! read more

My friend and I were driving down to SD for the 4th of july and decided to grab boba. When we walked in the girl in the front didn't really acknowledge us just kind of side eyed us. I love their taro drink, which is non-dairy. It has the perfect consistency and sweetness. I enjoyed having the taro bits in there, but they tend to clog the straw. Service was friendly and efficient, but it's not particularly noteworthy. read more

absolutely terrible service! we were really looking forward to trying this place, but upon entering the shop the employee just stared us down and went back to socializing with his friends. it appears the employee is using the business as a personal hangout spot for him and his friends. it was constant screaming and music on full blast that kept changing based on requests from the friends. we added one item to our order on the kiosk and a girl screamed at the top of her lungs and proceeded to just laugh with her friends and the employee that was present...so we left. never even got the chance to try the drinks which is ridiculous because at any other business, if a customer was acting in such a disruptive manner, an employee or manager would've asked them to settle down. we also saw other customers walk in and walk out because there's just no way anyone is waiting or even enjoying their orders in there. we didn't see a single adult present and not sure if the business owner is aware of the actions of their employees. very disappointed. read more

Location is easy to find. We are not locals and just happen to be in the area. I like how their drinks are not very sweet and their portions are bigger. They look very nice on camera. Very cute boba tea place located in La Costa Town Square. Walked in and saw a good amount of small tables to sit at and a couple iron tables outside as well. The menu was on the wall by the front counter/register. Made it easy to decide what we wanted while we waited our turn to order. There was also a self-service kiosk by the entrance as well-which we initially didn't notice. There's a good amount of various drinks, offering only one size, and price is comparable to other boba tea places. There's also a case of baked goodies at the front counter as well. The girl working was very nice and friendly and even though she was by herself, she was very efficient in taking orders and getting the drinks out in a timely manner. We tried the Creamy Jasmine milk tea with boba and the Taro Lover with chunks of taro. They were both very delicious! With the perfect amount of sweetness according to both our tastes. I also appreciated that the girl made sure I was ok with the taro chunks that come in my drink, the Taro Lover. All in all, we had a great first visit and happy we decided to try this place.
