New location is clean and Chicken still tasty. Would be nice if they serve drinks from a fountain with ice instead of cans like the old place. But overall it's still good. One of the tables was very flimsy and kept on buckling. Would be nice if they bring back more homey decorations to keep the classic look. Air condition very nice. I have been going to Chicken Box in La Habra for over 35 years. I am looking forward to their finally reopening. The broasted chicken and the potatoe wedges are top notch ( and have always been great. Something happened about 5 or 6 years ago and they changed their recipe on the Mac salad and cole slaw because they all of a sudden were lacking any real taste. Saw this place just as we were pulling into the pie shop next door, and it grabbed our interest right away. The boss was hit with cravings for chicken throughout the day, and the other choices we had were leaving us debating and with doubts. I wouldn't exactly consider this fast food, as your expected wait time for your food could be up to 20ish minutes, maybe even longer. I don't say this to deter you from going, though. On the contrary, the reason you're waiting for your food is because it's cooked to order, and when a shootload of people are feeling the need to satisfy their cravings, it gets packed. When we walked in, there was one guy sitting there waiting for his food, and in the 20 minutes we were there, we saw at least 10-15 different orders get picked up. (Call ahead and cut down on your wait time.) The parking lot is kinda small, but thats small fry. Food. Delicious. When you bite into your chicken, its moist and tasty, even if you drove 20 minutes to get home. I don't know what they used to season the chicken, but I loved the taste. Coleslaw was okay, nothing to write home about, and if you love country style gravy, this is all you. The potato wedges were cut very thick, and though you get about three wedges, thats already half a potato. Onion rings taste like they came out of a bag. Will definitely have to try the ribs and maybe the fish next time. All in all, it was worth the drive, and we demolished our four piece meals. read more

This place is pretty darn good. I like it because it's cooked to order. You are buying hot food not cold setting food those wedge french fries, or wedge potatoes was out of sight. Macaroni salad had just a bit too much mustard for me. So traded it for mashed potatoes and gravy, which was good. Will try again when I go back not from that area. read more

It's been a while since I had the chicken box because it changed ownership. Today, I felt like trying fish and chips. Got two tiny frozen cod pieces and fries for 9.86 and had one piece that was so grey/pink and hard you couldn't even eat it. Disappointed! And unfortunately never going back. read more

Fresh crispy chicken served piping hot. The flavor was amazing. For the sides I ordered Mac salad and potato wedges. The Mac salad had a great flavor but after a while it became too sweet. The wedges were good but definitely could have used more seasoning. My only real complaint is their hot sauce. It comes prepacked and is way too vinegary. For many years, this used to be the spot for fried chicken with honey, mashed potatoes, etc. I guess about 10 years ago. It was purchased by a Korean family now they're frying, fish, shrimp, and somehow cooking ribs, they no longer include honey with the chicken more boysenberry punch. I had great expectations going to this place especially seeing a line of people waiting for their food. To make it short I was very disappointed with my 3 piece dinner which comes with a Breast, Thigh , leg and two sides. The size of the chicken pieces were very very small and thigh looked like it was cut in half, in the picture I put a hot sauce packet just so you can see just how really small the pieces are.
