Just got outta this place with my food. Opened the bag and tasted heaven. My picky girlfriend asked for the Stephanie wrap which is also a good pick and a particular side of lettuce. Weird. Obviously, anyone who knows about chicken joes also knows about Garden Catering. Living in Darien most my life I only ate at garden catering because it was much closer. Of course I knew about chicken joes, but due to its location I never felt like venturing that far out of my way for what is essentially the same food. Anyone, in case you don't know any history essentially chicken joes came to be a few years ago when one of the owners had a disagreement with the other owner as to who came up with the high school special (basically fries and chicken in a bag, but delicious and unheatly, but delicious). After the disagreement they parted ways and chicken joes came to be. Recently, I am living in Greenwich and chicken joes is down the street. I must say it is a lot better than garden catering. For 2 reasons. 1) It is fresher. Food is cooked to order, garden catering they cook in batches. So chicken is always tender and everything is crisp and tasetes great. 2) The service is great. Although small, it is personal and they make you feel valuable. Garden catering not really they seem not to care too much about the customer. It's a shame. I can tell which owner cared more about his product. read more

Chicken Joe's is located further down the Post Road, just past the fire station. It serves mainly fried food, but they also have other food such as sandwiches, wraps, and drinks. The dish they are most known for is the High School Special, which is a half pound of deep-fried chicken nuggets with fries and a can of soda, served with any combination of barbeque sauce, honey mustard or ketchup. They also offer platters of chicken, fries, cones, or any combination of the three for catering purposes. Go here if you are looking for a greasy meal that isn't too hard on the wallet. read more

Quality has significantly declined over the years. Do not confuse "Chicken Joe's" with its former affiliate, "Garden Catering", which has a very similar menu but the ingredients are of a much higher quality. Last meal I had was a grilled chicken wrap, which was rubbery and tasteless. Won't be going back to any of their locations. Chicken JOKES Deli and Catering, yep, it's a joke, not this article, but this sham of a dining establishment. It's More, or less, CONESANITY! So after a nice work out of , shopping on Greenwich Ave, and lifting my shephora bag up and down, I went and placed a decently large order for myself and some friends. I expected it to be a lot, but boy was I surprised to find out what I was getting charged for. I order several High School specials. Nuggets, and fries, but I asked it I could have the "cones and fry mix". If you are unfamiliar, let me explain what this consists of: instead of getting just fries, some mini fried mashed potatoes are placed instead of a few fries. NOT EXTRA OR IN PLACE OF. I did not order an extra side of cones. I just wanted half fries, half cones. How much could that cost, You might be thinking? Well, I'll tell you. It cost my dignity and a car full of old couch coins... or to be precise, an extra $2.50 cents PER meal. A total of $12.50. This surely must be a mistake, perhaps they gave me an entire extra side of cones for each meal, or maybe a mini mountain of cones. Perhaps a boat load of cones? ...a las, no. This is quite interesting, and for those of you that don't know that potato market, a potato these days is worth about 3 cents. I think it costs more to grow the potato than its worth. So, clearly for $12.50 I MUST be getting a cornicopia of cones. So, I reluctantly paid the $70 bill (yes, that is what I paid) and left. I went home, slowly tore opened my aluminum bag, and smelled the deep fried goodness, but, wait, WHERE ARE THE CONES??? Now, the puppies were worth a pretty penny so you bet I dug though the mound of fries and chicken looking for what seemed to be a needle in a hay stack. After a solid 2 minutes, I found one. Then another, and another, until I reached the copious number of 5. I got 5 cones. There were 5 cones in each bag. Now, I paid $12.50, which is probably the cost of an entire acre of potato crop, for 5 cones in a damn bag. In each bag of the HS special there were 5 cones. Who reading this is the math expert? Not you? Well, let's do the breakdown, that would be 50 cents a pop. For a fried potato. They aren't even latkas, no blessing or kosher precautions needed for this non-denominational spud. Not only did I pay a premium for these oil slicked bad boys, but I also paid more for the special itself than at another comparable deli, which I will not name, but it rhymes is Carden Gatering. But who is comparing? We aren't in a competition, but who wins here? I give the medal to CHICKEN JOE's for being the smartest chicken shack on the block. They are ripping people off with their tough, dry chicken, and high end couture cones. Until people realize that your deli is a rip of, Keep Calm and Cone on. read more

This place has really great food and a beautiful place to sit down and eat. That being said there is one italian guy who gives everyone a free plate of attitude along with your order. He acted like he had to go to a farm and buy a cow himself to milk the cow, wait for it to turn into cheese, just to make my pizza. So beware for this ITALIAN guy who refused to give the special thats advertised on their door & blantantly overcharges & does not honor their deals. When i called the store after leaving dissapointed the same italian guy answered and refused to pass me through to the manager. Heres a side tip if you ever encounter the italian guy you should check out this other great pizzaria not too far away RIVERSIDE SQUARE PIZZA . I was able to get my fix there with a smile and FREE garlic knots so they saved my day when i thought all hope was lost!!! Check them out for sure!!
