Happened upon here the other day while driving around looking for a place to eat after visiting a friend at St. Francis. The restaurant looked busy which is always a good sign so we decided to give it a try. Upon entry there were a couple of signs that said they make homemade sangria so I decided to give it a try and it was delicious. For appetizer we split the spicy eggplant salad which came with warm pita bread and it was yummy! For dinner I had the chicken kebab sandwich. The chicken was tender and flavorful. The sandwich could have used tzatziki sauce, but otherwise it was loaded with chicken, salad and even some cooked mushrooms which was a pleasant surprise. My husband had the doner platter which he enjoyed. We thought the service was good. Our server was friendly and the busers were attentive -- taking the plates away when we were done. Can I just say we come here atleast once a week, and I love it. We went last night, we've been going over a year - my husband for years now. I love everything about this place, the cleanliness, the service, the food, omg their salad. Their salad is unreal. Best salad I've ever had. In a word- disgusting.Their so called "saganaki", and those quotations are sarcastic, consists of an 8" long dish of melted unseasoned mozzarella with some anemic, crudely chopped tomato bobbing atop the warm rubbery cheese island, in a small lake of oil. Not something anyone would so much CHOOSE to eat, but more like something one WOULD eat if found, let's say- during some sort of survival situation.The wine had been opened at least for 24 hours. Of course this would be forgivable in a survival situation, which I was starting to feel like this was turning into. So anyway, after complaining about the wine I promptly glugged it down. Next came the chicken souvlaki over a bed of rice, and when I say a "bed", I mean something a toddler could sleep in. Oh my GOD! This really is the stuff of nightmares. I don't even know how to describe the molded chicken-like substance they use in this dish. It looks like someone worked really hard all day crafting homemade panty-liners from various reconstituted meats... Uh, nope, not EVEN in a survival situation. Pushing that aside I give up and order what I like to call the "Oh fuck-it" desert, which consists of four shots of gin over ice. Now I know this seems irrelevant, but it's not. My dog loves to eat shit, and any kind of shit. Dog, cat, raccoon, deer,-pfft- or yours etc. When I offered him these uh, artisanal chicken panty-liners, he just looked at them really sadly then with his tail and head hanging, he left the room. One of the filthiest restaurants I have ever seen. Been eating there for years this is not my first but will definitely be my last experience with their dirty food. Ate there a few weeks back and had to send salad back because a dead bug was on the plate under the salad. Ok once maybe things happen but last night my take out salad had a clump of dirt stuck to the lettuce. I brought the salad back and the owner tried to tell me it was the seasoning in the dressing. Impossible because I do not get seasoning or dressing or cheese on my salads, only lettuce tomato and cucumber. They did not apologize or try to rectify the situation. I used to eat here often during a time that feels like another life, and I recently decided to come back with my sister. We both ordered the doner platter, which is gyro meat over rice. She loved her lemon chicken soup and I enjoyed my lentil soup. Being there reminded me of the filet mignon kebab I often ordered as well as the spinach pie and dolma. This place has been a standby for me for years. Unfortunately, it appears to be going down hill. Rancid sea bass, a raw chicken kebob cube and watery/tasteless chicken lemon soup were the lowlights, but at least the Turkish beer was cold. I will not be back. Too many other options. I've been going to chicken kebab since I was little and it is literally the best restaurant I have ever had. Whenever I walk in there the waiters are always doing an amazing job with service. I try to go to chicken kebab at least once a week if not more. The food there is immaculate. I always get the same meal every time and it never disappoints. Chicken kebab is hands down THE best restaurant I have ever stepped foot in and I doubt I will ever come across another one better than chicken kebab. This restaurant is truly one of a kind and it is the reason I chose to live in Roslyn. The hummus and the chicken gyro entree is the meal I get every week and I could not even begin to describe how amazing it is. Really good reasonably priced Greek food. Huge Greek salads. You will definitely take some home or they are good to share.

I have been going here for five years and I've never had a bad meal here. There is sometimes a wait but it is great. The hummus appetizer is what I would recommend most of all because it tastes fresh and homemade every time. I got the gyro maybe ten times and it was good every time! My family also enjoys iskender which is meat and yogurt sauce and it is delicious. Service is very friendly. There isn't a parking lot so you may have to walk. But it's worth it. read more

I recently discovered this place thats located in Rosyln and i must say, i am beyond impressed. This place is not your typical kebab and gyro place, it has a variety of items on their menu you wont find in other Mediterranean restaurants, like the orange roughy fish or the delicious kofte casserole. The decor is casual and cozy. The restaurant is split into two rooms and both sides are spacious and comfortable. I went there on a Tuesday night even though there was a crowd we were seated quickly. Our server was Michael, he was very attentive and polite, he also knew the menu inside out. There were dishes i wasnt really familiar with, but he took time to explain each and every dish. If you go make sure to try their appetizers, the hummus and the spicy tomatoes. I also tried the meat pie that was out of this world. For dinner entrees the salmon was cooked thoroughly and juicy, our kofte casserole was also seasoned very well and it wasnt too oily. After our dinner a local who was eavesdropping told us that we had to try the galataboureko and boy was he right. The galataboureko is the thin layers of phyllo dough that has layers of greek custard in the middle it was one of the best desserts I've had in my life. Just a quick reminder Willis ave is a tight busy road with limited parking so if you go there on the weekends you might have to drive around a little to find a parking spot. Overall with their food and service Chicken Kebab holds the king pin in Rosyln, if you head down there make sure to try it out. read more

Difficult to park here however, since the bank moved in across the street you can use their parking lot in the evenings. This is a SOLID place. You will never leave this eating establishment dissatisfied. What makes the Gyros so great here is not only the obviously home made Tzsatizki sauce, but the beautiful chopped salad on it ~ dill, carrots, mesculin, mint, red onions sliced tomatoes... etc!!! Plus they don't use the Fontana's Famous gryo meat - this is Turkish and much healthier - way less fat -way more flavor. For under $8 this gyro sandwich is a must have. I had lamb kebabs, while my friend had the swordfish kebabs...both tasty, but a bit pricey for the amount of food...I would go back though, and try one of the specials, which seemed moreasonably priced. read more

Honestly, I have had some mixed experiences with them. I personally have been going for the chicken gyro for the past few years and have loved it. I will say every once and a while the rice and peas can be a little undercooked, but it is pretty rare. The white saw isn't overly powerful, but I personally like it (I don't like when it is too yogurt tasting). I also will vouch for the chicken kebab, which I used to order regularly. Personally, I find it to be a bit pricey for what you are getting, but I feel like most of the Mediterranean places around here are. What annoys me most is whenever I order out, they place the salad laying down so it leaks oil all over my car. It really wouldn't take any effort to put it on top and not at an angle. I also find that the cashier is usually kinda rude, with no emotion, and not even a thank you or have a good night. I have worked in food service for a while, and personally, I don't find that acceptable (it becomes like muscle memory and you end up always saying it). With all that being said, the food is really good, but the service could be improved. Also, little tip. I like a lot of chicken gyro, so I usually get a chicken gyro meal and a side of chicken gyro (as the side is just a full container of gyro and it is delicious). read more

Went there around 9:00 Saturday evening, supposedly they close at 11:00. We were served water then the wait staff disappeared completely. There were 4 waiters in the kitchen and three people behind the counter and after 10 minutes no one approached us at all. When we got up to leave we walked in front of the counter and no one uttered a word, they were obviously glad to see us go. That is until today, when the OWNER of the restaurant told me to SHUT UP because I called to complain my take out order was cold after he swore to me before I left that my order was just freshly prepared. My boyfriend's family lives nearby and this is their go-to spot for Greek food in the area. I've eaten here twice (one in the restaurant, one takeout) and have always enjoyed their food - though to be fair, I got the same thing both times (Greek salad). If you love Turkish food, Chicken Kebab will treat you well. I've been eating here since I was in elementary school. My family loves the place; you don't go for the ambiance, which, I may add, I would not call "bad". You go for the amazing Greek salad, the tasty gyros, the vegetarian stuffed eggplant, the lentil soup, and the swordfish kebab. Or at least, those are among my regular items. Prices are not bad but are kind of steep--eating here would not be my fall back if I wasn't living at home with my parents currently. But all in all, the place is pretty great. I only gave it four stars for two reasons: the prices are a bit high (for me), and the fish and meats can tend to be a bit greasy. Other than that, the ingredients are always fresh, the yogurt sauce is delicious, and the swordfish over Greek salad is super amazing. They also make pretty tasty dolmas... Just about anything on the menu is a party for your mouth. Parking can be a little tricky, too, but that's okay. It also gets pretty busy around dinner time weekends and weekdays, so expect a wait, or do take out. read more

For this price range, you can't beat the food. Their spinach fish is incredible and their chicken gyro meat is really great as well. Their salad is definitely a high point too, and they give you generous portions. I'm not a huge fan of the tzatziki dip, as it sometimes pretty watered down, and their hummus is only really 3 stars for me, but for the price of their entrees and for the salad, this is a solid 4 star place for me. read more

Cool little spot to grab a bite to eat. The food wasn't what I thought... it was better! (if you like kosher) and I was a little skeptical at first but the humus with the sauces they provided was EXCELLENT! Can't complain and the staff was very helpful and kind.
