Decided to try this place today while I was in the area for a meeting. I stopped in and grabbed my lunch to go. The person who took my order seemed very knowledgeable about gluten-free options and explained that all of their chicken salads are gluten-free and served with celery instead of bread. I ordered the two-scoop meal with one side. I chose the Fancy Nancy and Kickin' Kay Lynne chicken salads, with broccoli salad on the side. Excellent spot for lunch. Took the ride to Rio Rancho and had no difficulty finding the place. Were greeted by a friendly young lady who walked us through the menu and provided us with a couple of free samples of the varieties they served. We've always enjoyed going to Chicken Salad Chick, but unfortunately the quality has declined recently. We noticed changes to the menu, which offer less value than before--understandable on their own--but the bigger concern is the drop in quality and freshness. It feels like corners may be getting cut. The grape salad had several grapes that were mushy instead of crisp, the lettuce was old and browning (see photo), and the chicken salad tasted stale and not like it used to. We hope the owner is able to get things back on track, as we've enjoyed this restaurant in the past. However, if this continues, we won't be returning. read more

Homie and Delicious! First time eating at Chicken Salad Chick and everything was delicious! Me and my grandson had the Classic Carol (chicken, celery, mayo & their seasoning). Mine was on a toasted croissant with melted provolone so delicious and my grandson wanted his on toasted bread. You can pick a side that ranges from broccoli salad, fruit salads, pasta salad or mac n cheese. It was homie inside and they asked us several times if everything tasted good. It was such a refreshing change I'll definitely be back. There is quite a variety of different chicken salads to try and you can order as a scoop if you don't want bread or on a salad. The girl was nice but it felt like she wasn't listening or inexperienced. We waited at the window for a long time, which I didn't mind because I felt like the food would be fresh. The melt on the other hand was delicious, the chicken had a nice smoky flavor and a decent serving. The croissant was soft and they didn't scrimp on bacon or cheese. We also grabbed a slice of White Chocolate Cake - moist and delicious. The owners of the store also own the bakery that supplied the cake. It satisfied my sweet tooth. A little pricey for $10+ for a sandwich and a side (but a little disappointing that I had to pay $1 for dressing for my salad)- we got the Olivia's (with sweet pickle and egg) on a croissant with a the salt/vinegar chips and the Sassy Scotty (ranch, bacon, cheese) on a croissant with the summer strawberry salad with the balsamic vinaigrette. While the chicken salad was good (although my favorite is still from a local place in town), there were some issues with the food quality: the pre-packaged salad had a use by date of 9/29 (it's 9/30) today, the croissant was a little dried out, and found a short dark hair in my sandwich. Even though we were extremely polite in person, the food was absolute trash. It's basically an ice cream scoop of chicken salad thrown on a single piece of lettuce or between bread. We also ordered soups -- one came with the "meal," but it was like 2 ounces. We also got a bowl of soup..More like four ounces of watery tomato juice with 35 crackers. There were more crackers than soup, chicken salad, fruit, and cookies COMBINED. One of them was the chicken tortilla soup... and it had one tiny piece of chicken the size of a nickel. We politely asked for more chicken (because it had none in it) and they brought out a new soup. We were hopeful that they corrected the error. The employee said, "We scraped up what we could, but our soups normally don't have much chicken." Excuse me? You're a chicken restaurant selling chicken tortilla soup that doesn't have much chicken!? Never coming here again -- what a complete waste of money. I've worked in food and fast food restaurants.. This was a delicious classic and I'm definitely glad I tried it however it's a little basic. I also ordered a side scoop of Lauryn's Lemon Basil which immediately perked up my taste buds!!! Such great flavor combination. I tried the spicy pimento cheese scoop and really loved it! This is a great location on Albuquerque's west side plus they have a drive thru which is what I used today. My only suggestion is to add napkins in the to go bag and also put more ice in the ice tea as mine had very little and melted quickly. I love the mini cookie you get with your order. Attended their soft opening today (actually their first customers!) and it was great. We had the Melt on a croissant, which was tender and toasted perfectly. The broccoli salad is fantastic and the grape salad is almost like a dessert. So good! The interior is homey and comfortable. They give you a number when you order and then bring it to your table. They have a person walking about to clear your table & bring you any extras you may need. Everyone is so nice! Oh, and the cookie that comes with every meal is delicious. The food is absolutely delicious! The red velvet cake crumb was very good. However, the frosting was the most sugary, grainy frosting I have ever had!
