I just finished working out at the gym and my wife was near Jason's Deli I asked her to pick up a salad and a small sandwich I will say the salad was one of the worst chicken salad and sandwich I ever had the chicken was not only not cut up it tasted terrible and chewy the lettuce tasted like they ran out to the yard and picked it wile she waited it tasted gritty they added strawberries in it that was not cut and they still had the stems on them. The sandwich was the sane gross chicken with a gob of so called melted cheese that felt like. Okay I think I found my new spot : ) There's many varieties of healthy sandwiches. What I like the most is that there is a salad bar. With a salad bar you can make your own creation. What's even more amazing I can make my own creation the way I want and the cost is pretty economical to eat. I go to most places like Hy-Vee's and eat at their restaurant and I'll spend 10 to 14 bucks a plate. And the drinks, There is healthy drinks here. I had a hibiscus tea today. My dine-in lunch experience was solid four star material (minimum), with fast and friendly service, delicious food at a fairly reasonable price, an available salad bar and a clean and spacious dining area. My ranchero wrap with blue tortilla chips and medium salsa ($8.59) was brought to my table just six minutes after I ordered at the counter. I liked the good portion of healthy grilled chicken, the wheat wrap and the spicy flavors. This location is clearly well managed. The team worked efficiently and I noticed an attention to cleanliness. Also, an outside firm was checking seats and tables to see if any needed to be repaired. Cool. The food here is generally ok as long as they keep the salad bar stocked which hasn't been in he last two visits. Shouldn't have to ask to be filled with several employees just standing around. The bathroom is filthy as always is (management take note). I laugh with their little pay card reader machine with suggested tipping amounts...why would I tip when I serve myself? Many places have started doing this and is offensive in my opinion. Sorry to those that disagree thinking that people in the service industry that provides little deserves gratuity. Highly upset with the quality of the salad bar! Vegetables are supposed to be good for you, however these were not! I obviously consumed something with MSG in it!! I already suffer from narcolepsy and REM sleep disorder. And 20 minutes after eating I became excessively tired! I take stimulant medication and it's been successful! I became so drowsy I could hardly walk straight, didn't want to be in public and rushed home. Driving drowsy is the same as driving drunk! And this is clearly unsafe! I've never experienced this before but I eat fairly clean. I slept 7.5 hours! When I received a full night's sleep! Please clean up your food! I know there are no regulations on MSG. But this isn't a Chinese restaurant, and not all you can eat! I will not be returning! The reputation of clean, is a way to get people in. Floors were dirty too! The salad bar is great, and the sandwiches are pretty good too. The only thing that keeps me from giving this place 4 stars is the fact that cleanliness needs to be maintained. I usually find the tables a little dirty, and just yesterday when I came in I had asked a young man who works there if the table could be cleaned. He had told me that he would need to go in back to check and see what can be done about it. When he came back out he handed me one dry cloth and one wet cloth, and asked me, 'Oh, you wanted me to clean the table?" I was like "really?" I told him that I could clean the table if necessary. I think he got the hint and followed me, but seemed not sure how to wipe it down. Perhaps, this Jason's Deli needs to work on training. read more

3.5 stars Long story short: large restaurant featuring deli style sandwiches as well as some other Italian favorites. Long story long: This was my first meal on my first full day in Kansas City. This place is in a big plaza featuring some major retail stores, a handful of chain restaurants, and various smaller boutiques here and there. Walking in, this place is massive. I wasn't expecting to be so large (that's what she said), and can probably seat over 100 people. This is the kind of place where you order at the counter, pay, sit down and your number/name is called. After browsing the sandwiches, which all sounded pretty decent, I eventually decided on the "New York Yankee", a corned beef and pastrami on rye, with a choice of either mayo or mustard. Of course I got mustard. All sandwiches come with chips. I also got an iced tea. Everything cost me about $14. Maybe a little pricey for a deli, but oh well. We sat down and a few minutes later, our sandwiches came out. I was SHOCKED at the size of my sandwich. Or rather, I was shocked at the amount of meat I had in my sandwich. Look at the picture and you'll know what I'm talking about. It's just like that Mitch Hedberg joke, when he's talking about when he ordered a NY deli sandwich, asked if he would like anything else, he responded, "A loaf of bread, and some other people!", commenting on how the proportion of meat to the 2 measly slices of bread is not enough to contain the plethora of meat. I took a bite (as best as I could), and overall, it was pretty good. The meat wasn't as juicy as I probably would have preferred, but it was still a pretty good sandwich. I got there for lunch about 30 minutes after they opened on a Saturday. There were a couple of people eating and they seemed to be sending a catering order out the door. The crew seemed distracted or just not ready to be at work yet that day. I had a coupon that seemed to cause confusion. I didn't want a drink, which seemed to terrify the order taker. He really wanted me to have something to drink, even water. I insisted that was not necessary. So, I get my order for the salad bar taken. Then I have to go break up a group of school boys to beg them to stop their horseplay and give me a plate. Apparently the order taker was not qualified to hand me a plate, so you have to go through a weird "gatekeeper" scenario to release a plate from the holding area that is guarded by these school boys. I get over the salad bar and while it seems fully stocked, one of the workers has a cart full of what I'll assume is the back up supply for restocking during the day heaped on a huge cart and stacked all over the serving area of the salad bar I'm trying to get to for filling my plate. So, I get half of the salad bar while she's wandering around taking her time to stack all this stuff off her cart onto the edge of the salad bar then slowly stock the items under the salad bar while stopping to stare off into space. I give up. I go sit to eat my half salad wondering what delicious toppings could have been had if I could reach the other side of the salad bar. I'll say the stuff I could reach from the one side were pretty tasty. That was some of the best hummus I've ever had. I decided after eating that I'd go use the restroom and maybe by then she'd be done. I was right. So I went back to try some of the stuff on the side that she'd been blocking. Yeah, it wasn't quite as good now that I'd eaten my salad, but I tried a few bites of stuff just to feel like I could. They have this free ice cream at Jason's. You might already know about it. Well, I didn't really want a huge cone or anything, but I figured I'd take some for the road since I'd been shortchanged a bit on the salad bar experience. I go up and get the cone and turn on the machine and chocolate milk sprays out, nearly getting it all over me. One little teaspoon of sorta-frozen glob plopped out in my cone and I hit the road. So, this place needs a little work. The food was fine in the most part, but the crew not so much. I don't like working Saturday's either, but we all have choices to make and bills to pay. read more

Been to one? You've been to them all. This one is particularly clean and friendly. We were waiting for friends and they offered water. Very thoughtful. Tortilla soup was excellent. Just a touch of "heat". Salad bar was well stocked, fresh and it's nice to see they've added some items. Santa Fe chicken wrap "disappeared". Gumbo & grilled cheese sandwich ended up in a take home box thanks to a One trip side salad. Even the frozen ice milk was better than most Jason's. Solid. Not liquid. This is a primary destination to bring children to. I most likely woudn't go without the kids, in fact. They have a pretty good kids menu (although my shorties get the same thing every time we go) and they mix up the specials quite a bit to keep them interesting. I almost always order off of the specials board (they have about 8 items on there). The sandwiches and wraps are all pretty good, and you can choose Baked Lays instead of regular chips. The salad bar is pretty nice and you could easily make a meal from that alone. The soups and chilis are OK, but a bit heavy handed on the salt. I will have to say I did get food poisoning from here once, but it has not kept me from returning. I chose a wrap with alphalfa sprouts in it and I'm sure that was the culprit. I failed to call and tell them and I know I really should have. In case you didn't know, eating sprouts is like eating sushi...you do so at your own risk as it is a big culprit for poisoning. The one thing that makes this a #1 fave for the kiddos is the 'free' ice cream soft serve they can have after the meal. OK...let's be honest: that may be my favorite part too! read more

We were traveling to the Lake of the Ozarks and were searching for a place to eat lunch. We spotted this deli and decided to give it a try. Being unfamiliar with Jason's we were surprised at the varied options available and were very pleased with our sandwiches. The wife ordered a Turkey Reuben and I had the Manager's Special Reuben with Corned Beef and a cup of Tortilla Soup. We were very satisfied with the quality and quantity of these sandwiches and my soup was quite tasty. It was interesting that if one wanted to only have the salad bar a kiosk was available in this location whereby a person could simply scan their card to pay for the salad bar without going through the sandwich line. Another bonus was that soft serve ice cream is available free to diners. A nice, unexpected bonus for patrons. I rated 5-star due to this being much more than I expect at a deli. read more

For my money, this is probably the most healthful of the various chains to be found in the ultra-chainey Summit Woods Crossing shopping center in Lee's Summit. I've always experienced fresh food there, myself, and I particularly like their salad bar, which is always spotless and has quite a few options you don't find on every salad bar...you can definitely make a meal of their salad bar, and you might as well, because it's not cheap, for a plate o' veggies. In fact, my main beef with the place is that it's fairly costly for what it is, which is solid deli fare with a lot of variety. I'd give it at least a star higher if I felt like the price reflected that it's really just a deli, and needn't cost what it does. When I don't get the salad bar, I really enjoy their po'boys, especially the pot roast melt. The muffaletta is great, too, but it's a TON of food (buy it by the quarter. The soups are hit or miss with me, but their red beans and rice is great. In fact, I tend to really like all the New Orleans-type fare they offer, which is funny considering that the chain's based in Texas. A LOT of their sandwiches and wraps feature turkey, which is my least favorite of cold cuts, but they do offer quite a few that aren't turkey based, as well. They have build-your-own options, and you can get half-sandwiches, which is nice. Basically, if I'm going to grab a relatively quick meal on the go, this is the place where I feel like I can do it at the last cost to my health, if not to my pocketbook. read more

This is a good place to go for a great salad bar. I also had a pork sandwich which had cashew butter and some sort of jelly on it. It was pretty good but nothing to write home about.
