Expensive for what you get, salad didn't seem fresh, used packaged chicken. Not good.

Longboards has been part of my story since my UMKC days. I first went after hearing all the hype,…read moreand as they've expanded, I've followed them from location to location. When they finally opened in Overland Park, I was ecstatic -- it felt like my old college staple had grown up with me. One side note that says it all: during KU Hospital orientation, HR did that classic icebreaker -- "What's your favorite restaurant?" Someone mentioned Longboards, and instantly a chorus of people chimed in with "Yeah!" That kind of reaction tells you everything -- Longboards isn't just food, it's a Kansas City cult favorite. Menu-wise, they do things differently. Think grilled burrito-style wraps or deli-style cold wraps, but you can make any of them into an "OG" (their giant version with a hard-boiled egg inside) or turn them into a rice bowl. That's what makes it fun -- the creativity of the flavors plus the flexibility to make it your own. My forever go-to is the Argentine quesadilla flat wrap -- steak, shrimp, guac, mozzarella, pico, and chimichurri ranch. It's basically surf-and-turf at a reasonable price, and the flavors just explode. Easily a 10/5. I usually grab a second item too. This time it was the WOW Kung Pao wrap -- chicken, peanuts, veggies, rice, spicy Chinese sauce. Think kung pao stir-fry, but wrapped up. Perfect balance of heat and crunch, a solid 4/5. Over the years , I've also loved the 5 Alarm Beef (spicy, but worth it). The the Cabo chicken/steak (crowd favorites), and the 619 OG (go big or go home) are prety solid too. And don't sleep on their rotating monthly creations -- some of the most fun menu items they've done. My favorite was One Time in Bangkok -- as spicy and naughty as it sounds. Basically a pad thai wrap loaded with Thai Peanut, Spicy Chinese, and 5 Alarm sauce. Absolutely amazing, and another 10/5. Honestly wish they'd make it a permanent menu item. The sauces are what really set Longboards apart. They bottle a few (Thai Peanut, 5 Alarm, Chipotle Ranch, Teriyaki), and I wish they'd sell their Spicy Chinese sauce too -- it's that good. Same with the chimichurri ranch on the Argentine -- I could honestly bathe in both of them. Pro tip: grab a bottle of Thai Peanut sauce and use it at home to instantly level-up Trader Joe's bowls. Sometimes the bottles are half off during happy hour times. I've tried their noodle bowls and rice bowls -- tasty, but rice noodles aren't my thing. And the Hawaiian sliders? Hard pass. Stick to the wraps, flat wraps, or OG-style burritos and you can't go wrong. The staff is always friendly, the food is consistent -- super quick, super fresh, always hot. Seating is limited (this location is mainly carry-out), but I love the surf-inspired vibe with the surfboard-shaped countertop. What makes Longboards stand out most is the value. They've managed to keep prices fair while maintaining high quality -- even post-COVID, when so many places either dropped standards or raised prices. That combination of affordability, creativity, flexibility, and consistency is rare. Longboards is a KC institution for a reason. Five stars every time.

If you are a first timer the menu can be a bit overwhelming. So many choices! We finally settled on…read morethe Cabo chicken wrap and sushi wrap. The Sushi wrap was big. I could only eat half. It seemed to have a lot of imitation crab and very little shrimp. I could not taste the wasabi mayo at all though it definitely had some sort of mayo base. There was also only 1 piece of cucumber in my half of wrap. It was more like a crab salad wrap. Too wet. I was definitely disappointed as it was not what I expected. The Cabo chicken wrap was much better tasting and I don't like ranch dressing! The dining area was clean and cool. Servers were friendly.

We tried Café Celeste on a whim, not expecting much, but we absolutely LOVE their wraps! They taste especially good after a lively stroll through the peaceful and serene Arboretum. I am afraid I can only review the wraps because I am a creature of habit. Once I find something I like, I go back to it again and again. Both the chicken Cesar salad wrap and the southwest chicken wrap are delish. Café Celeste cuts them in half, so sometimes my husband and usually share one half of the wrap with each other. You truly can't go wrong with the wraps! We have also had the tropical smoothie and it is scrumptious. The service is marvelous. The workers are friendly and they make the wraps fresh, right there while you wait. Like I said, I haven't tried anything else, but the rest of the menu looks great. If you are in doubt and wondering if you should try Café Celeste, please do and let me know what you think! Bon appétit!

The service was good and they had snacks, bakery items and food items (I didn't try them, but they looked good)! The shop is bright and welcoming and a definite plus to view gardens if you want to leave the shop. There is seating inside the shop and some small tables outside and you can take your beverage or food out on the Arboretum patio. They had smoothies as well but they didn't seem to have many syrup choices that I saw on the menu. I don't have photos as I got soaked with rain at the Arboretum so I left quickly.

Luckily we went to an event that ended at Jefferson's and were able to try a variety of their appetizers. We also found out that they have their own house made beers! If the outside had shown this was a brewery, we absolutely would have come sooner. I am a fan of their wheat, and my fiancé enjoys their IPA. We have been three times total now. Each time we are able to find a seat quickly and the service has been prompt and friendly. Sometimes we just come for appetizers. This last time I enjoyed their grilled chicken Caesar salad, while my fiancé had their chili and a dozen oysters. He had a half dozen classic and a half dozen Cajun. Highly recommend the Cajun! I've never had flavored oysters before. Basically, give this place a shot. It's a great place to either start or end your day at the park. They have an expansive menu that is sure to please everyone.

Their Wednesday $10 burger and fries deal is our go to. Seems to be a quarter pound burger, load it with pepper jack, lettuce, tomatoes and pickles. Ask for a side of mayo if you are weird like me, perfect for dipping their phenomenal curly fries in! I think they are the best curly fries in town personally. Ask for Morgan, she is extremely nice and attentive and never lets a drink go dry! The interior is very large and separated well. There are TVs throughout the place, spread out so anywhere you sit you can view comfortably. We are due to try some more menu items and hit the happy hour drink specials after work. Thanks!
