Southwest Chipotle Ranch Salad with Kale and Spring Mix Instead of Romaine/Iceberg Blend on an 11" Plate - Includes Honey Oat Roll
    Steve D.

I liked the many healthy options and the cheerful service at this new restaurant on opening day, but the toppings were skimpy for the relatively high price. The southwest chipotle ranch salad ($13.99) was easily customizable and made to order Chipotle-style. Ingredients were placed in a bowl with your choice of dressing(s), stirred and then placed on your plate or in your takeout container, so the dressing was evenly distributed - nice! My dine-in salad was nicely sized with first-rate white chicken cubes. It was served on an 11" plate with a tasty, but not so fresh honey oat roll. I liked the wide variety of fresh, healthy options including six bases, over 60 toppings and 15 dressings, but my salad included mostly bases with some skimping on the protein and toppings. I expected more protein and toppings for the price. The dining area was clean and new with seating for about 26. I also noticed a good selection of beverages. The menu included salads and wraps (signature or build-your-own), five sandwiches, six soups (including lobster bisque), chips, desserts and meals for the kiddos. I liked the healthy cuisine and many options, but the price was not a value, especially considering the skimping on the protein and toppings.

Expensive for what you get, salad didn't seem fresh, used packaged chicken. Not good.

They are a little sandwich spot with a section on the wall holding little italian grocery items, which was neat to see. There was a gentleman there who was assisting with cleaning tables, grabbing orders and was super friendly! I swear I waited, give or take 5 to 6 minutes and my sandwich was ready to go! I ordered the Sublime which had prosciutto, hot sopressata, burrata, fresh walnut pesto, spicy garlic aioli, sundried tomatoes, arugula. You could taste all the flavors and they meshed so well together. It's also a HUGE portion, so I was able to save half for the next day. I typically eat a large sandwich, but I was full after just half. I saved the rest for later. I would definitely return!

We tried Café Celeste on a whim, not expecting much, but we absolutely LOVE their wraps! They taste especially good after a lively stroll through the peaceful and serene Arboretum. I am afraid I can only review the wraps because I am a creature of habit. Once I find something I like, I go back to it again and again. Both the chicken Cesar salad wrap and the southwest chicken wrap are delish. Café Celeste cuts them in half, so sometimes my husband and usually share one half of the wrap with each other. The meats were juicy and flavorful. Easily the best kafta I have ever had! Steak and chicken were succulent and fresh. Nothing was dried out or over cooked. And gluten free options abound! Those gelatos were incredible and we can't wait to go back for the shawarma options, lamb, gyro, and more. They also have a surprising offering of milkshakes, tarts, and other gelatos. The…read morerestaurant has a very welcoming and modern decor and the menu consists of amazing comfort fusion dishes with Indian and western flavors which light your tastebuds on fire. For our drinks we orders 'Have a Cigar' and a low sugar mocktail they created for me. Both were made very well and were super refreshing. For our mains, we ordered, 'Black Cardamon Burnt ends', 'Tandoori Chicken' and 'Smash burger with peri peri fries' and for desert we ordered the parle g mango ice-cream' sandwich with some aromatic chai. My most favorite dish out of all were the burnt ends - they had a superb fusion flavor of Indian spices which went well with the meat and paired well with the grits. Trust me when i say this that i would eat this everyday for the rest of my life if i could. The smash burger and peri peri fries were excellent and definitely hit the spot. The real disappointed was with Tandoori chicken. I felt the chicken did not pair well with the sambar risotto and the fried okra even though it tasted good, was an after thought. The rice in the risotto was very grainy and undercooked. I told that to our server and they instantly apologized and acknowledged the issue and also proceeded to remove the dish from our bill. After that the chai was very warm and comforting and the parle g ice-cream biscuits were nostalgic and a great way to finish the meal. While not every dish was perfect, i love the excellent customer service they provided and the way the owner/manager/staff handled our feedback. I will be back to try more food here - 5/5.

We were seated on time at a table next to the bar-side of the dining room. Speaking of the dining room, it's a nice, if standard size for a strip-mall space, but I really appreciated that the tables were not stacked on top of each other, as seems to be the case at more and more places these days. It felt like there might be some chance of our entire conversation not being completely overheard by our neighbors, which was nice for a change! Our waitress was fantastic! She walked us through the menu, the restaurant's approach to cooking and seasonality, some of her faves, and made wonderful recommendations! We decided to split a few small plates, which was a great approach! We got to try about 1/3 of the small plate menu, and loved it all! It was all great, but the Black Cardamom Burnt Ends are NOT to be missed! It made my cardamom-loving, Midwest soul very, very happy indeed! The space is a really nice size - not massive or overwhelming - and with the shades drawn down (to seal out the late afternoon sun, thank goodness!) and dim lighting, the mood vibes were solid for a romantic anniversary dinner! The other ambiance item of note is that the restroom corridor smelled absolutely fantastic! Upon investigation, it was due to a burning candle from a lovely local-KC company that was custom made for the restaurant! Yes, they're for sale, and yes, we picked up two! While everything was lovely and the food was very good, you're definitely paying a high price for it. Not that it's not deserved, but the "value" feels aren't necessarily "off the charts", by any means. And that is really my only critique, if there is any at all! Food = 5/5 Facility = 4/5 Service = 5/5 Ambiance = 4/5 Value = 3/5

I would recommend the lobster ravioli myself. The location is in the old Abblebee's but you wouldn't know it when you walk in as they had it so adorably decorated with all the flair. At the end of the meal we had the best and most creamy and delicious tiramisu which they brought out and sang happy birthday to me. We will be back for sure!

Usually I would save 2 stars for a bad experience,…read moreand this wasn't BAD, it just isn't a place that I would EVER recommend to someone who is asking where to go for Italian food. If this is the type of Italian food that you like, you will have a much better overall experience at Olive Garden - both in service and in variety and quality of the food. As others have said, this is in an old Applebee's and the decor and aesthetic hasn't improved a bit. This is NOT a place you would want to go on date night. It's maybe a place you take very young kids so the bright lights can show what they may drop on the floor. I just never felt comfortable throughout dinner. There is zero coziness here. The service was just okay. Nothing to write home about. The mains were delivered about two minutes after we received our salads, so there was no time to eat the salad. We had to ask to have any plates cleared from the table. And they sat five of us at a four-top, so there was no room on the crowded table for dirty plates. The food was fine. We had a free appetizer coupon and ordered the calamari. It was just okay. I wouldn't order it again. The menu is odd. I don't know anything about the owners, but it feels like an Italian restaurant run by Mexicans. If you've been to a Chinese restaurant run by Mexicans, then you'll know what I'm talking about. The dishes just had odd ingredients that you don't usually see at an Italian restaurant. There's a pasta dish with pink sauce that contains jalapenos. Their carbonara special stated that it contained bacon, but - at best - it was canadian bacon, it was little slices of thin deli ham, like cold cuts. There were other unusual ingredients in that dish: bell peppers and kalamata olives. Carbonara is usually bacon or guanciale or pancetta. And the only vegetable you may see in an American-style carbonara are peas. And the sauce definitely wasn't a traditional egg yolk sauce, but some type of alfredo sauce. The chicken breast in the pasta dishes is all butterflied very thin and grilled on a flattop, like it would be done in a mexican restaurant. I'm pretty sure that a pasta dish served at an actual Applebee's or similar restaurant would be better than what you receive here.

Now…read morethat we've cleared that up, let's get to the meat and potatoes -- or in this case, chicken and rice. (Don't worry, we'll circle back to the actual meat and potatoes later.) I ordered a large Mango Lassi. It was delicious -- creamy, sweet, and refreshing -- but calling it "large" might be a slight exaggeration. Still, flavor-wise, no complaints. The real reason I chose this restaurant was the Chicken Rice Platter, and to say it delivered would be an understatement. There's a spot in Houston I used to visit just for this exact dish, and this version absolutely blew it out of the park. A solid 10/10. The chicken tasted like it was rotisserie-style, with a beautifully seasoned crust on the outside and juicy, tender white meat inside. It's served over fragrant yellow rice, topped with a rich white sauce, and paired with a fresh cucumber salad on the side. Hands down, my favorite dish of the night. Next up was the Beef Nihari, served with naan and yellow rice, along with the Karachi Chicken Biryani. The Beef Nihari is a thick, deeply seasoned beef stew with generous chunks of fall-apart tender meat. It's hearty, comforting, and packed with flavor. The warm, fluffy, pillowy naan was perfect for soaking up that rich broth. Paired with yellow rice, it makes for a seriously satisfying meal. (Side note: it is oily -- which is traditional and expected -- just a friendly heads up.) The Karachi Chicken Biryani was beautifully spiced, aromatic, and fluffy. Tender chicken thighs and drumsticks were nestled into the rice alongside hearty chunks of potato -- told you we'd get to the meat and potatoes. It has a noticeable kick, but nothing overwhelming. Just bold, well-balanced spice. To finish, I had a large Lemon Mint Virgin Mojito. Extremely refreshing -- crisp citrus and minty cool -- but again, "European large" might be the more accurate description. I placed this as a carry-out order and made the commute to pick it up. The restaurant is located in Overland Park in an area that seems to have several similar establishments, at least from my perspective. Once inside the double doors, you're welcomed into a fairly modern dining space with seating for couples and larger groups, plus a private dining area. There appeared to be a buffet set up -- possibly for Iftar -- which is a thoughtful and convenient touch. I also appreciated the designated prayer area, which was a wonderful detail to see. The host was friendly, and my food was ready in a timely manner. Overall, I was genuinely impressed. Flavor, atmosphere, hospitality -- all on point. Definitely check it out for yourself.

The staff was friendly and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. This place is definitely worth checking out, and I'm already excited to come back and try more from their menu.
