I have not been much of a chicken salad person until about a month ago when I tried chicken salad at another establishment and thought I would give Chicken Salad Chick a try. I like the various names of the different types of chicken salad you can get (Sassy Scotty, Luau Lydia, and Fruity Fran just to name a few). Each name reflects the type of chicken salad you're ordering (Jazzy Julie is more of a spicy creation whereas Fancy Nancy is a fruits and nuts creation). I like (at least at the Lexington Location) when you walk in that there are menus you can look at before heading up to the counter to order. I am one of those people that needs a few minutes to decide what to order and hate getting to the counter looking dumbstruck as what to order, They have various specials (a sandwich, one or two side items, along with the cookie of the day. I am not sure if a drink is included (I had ordered the Original Chick Special which includes one side for $7.50, but by the time I added a drink, the order came to just under $10. You are also able to choose they type of bread you want (white, wheat, crossaint) as well. You order at the counter and if you are eating in, they'll bring your meal to you. It also looksd like they had pre-made tubs of their chicken salad creations off to the side for purchase (I am assuming) so you could take some chicken salad home for you eating pleasure at a later time. Now for those of you that either are not chicken salad lovers or are a vegetarian, there is a "limited' menu for you. Their other selections are Turkey Hoagie, Cajun Roast Beef, Virginia Ham or Pimeto Cheese. I know when my aunt first went here, she was not sure if I would like Chicken Salad Chick as I was not a chicken salad lover at the time. I am not sure if these selections have always been there, or if they are a recent addition. And looking at the menu, I like the owners comments to those that might be eating here that are not chicken salad lovers: Deli Sandwiches: For those of you have been dragged by a chicken salad lover and are refusing to try something new ... we made these just for you! Chicken Salad Chick is only open 10-7 M-S (Closed Sunday). I noticed a few days ago when possibly going to try for lunch that the restaurant was on the busy side, but when I went for dinner last night - it was not as busy. Reading the history of the resturant, I am thinking Chicken Salad Chick might be more of a lunch establishment rather than a dinner establishment, as they primarily serve sandwiches. read more

Place is run like a fast food restaurant or a food stall in a subway station. Based on the positive reviews, we decided on a Saturday afternoon visit. Now, after going in, I fear those reviews are strangely all ...too positive. Some actually read like adverts. Too much like cheerleaders circling around a bad team. If you expect basic courtesy; for example, hearing: "please" and "thank you," then this is not the place for you. Lack of please and thank you is an objective measure of rudeness, but there was an overall incivility in the cashier's demeanor. --a school-yard bully quality about her. While demanding our order at the counter, we explained to her this was our first visit, ... So she rushed through the many options in the way a three year old quickly rambles off a poorly memorized alphabet. - all monotone, deep breaths, ..eyes everywhere but toward us. My 84 year old Southern mother, who was with me, bases everything on a proper upbringing. There is never an excuse for not saying "thank you." That's how all business transactions are concluded and it's certainly the way proper Southern women end an order. When a complaint was made, a most ungracious female manager came out, with dirty hands...She did not ask how she could rectify anything or engage us on any issue; in fact, she said nothing. You never have to mean it in your heart when you say "sorry," but it has to be said, sounding sincerely, when dealing with others. She said nothing. -refer again to lack of proper upbringing. If this is what the owners put up front, you have to fear what's in the back where the food is prepared. ...ever seen restaurant nightmare? Dining room floor was cluttered with discarded napkins and in need of general housekeeping. Almost all of the customers looked to be from the rougher side of town. - which may explain the reviews. There is a South where people are decent and kind and gentle and gracious to strangers -- This restaurant is not part of that South. If you are visiting from out of town and are expecting something more cosmopolitan or urbane, take a pass on this place. - try the Gourmet Shop in the university's Five Points area. There, you will get a sublimely delicious chicken salad croissant ...and, a thank you. read more

I love chicken salad. I love that they have different types. I like things spicy, and they have three offerings with a little spice to them. I've eaten at Chicken Salad Chick 3 times and the food quality and service has been great. read more

This is one of my favorite lunch spots in the greater Lexington area. The variety of chicken salads is truly unique and creative, you really can't go wrong with what you pick! A delicious menu, filled with various and creative chicken salad choices. Sides, such as broccoli salad and grape salad are unique offerings for a cafe style venue. Sorry but I wasn't impressed. $7 for a chicken salad sandwich and chips plus water is not unreasonable but the salad wasn't great. Her white bread slices were hard and the option of toasting the bread wasn't available because they don't have a toaster. read more

Today my friends (10) and I had lunch at Chicken Salad Chick in Lexington. I have visited with my sister also. We love your menu and we love having Colin take care of us. He is so kind and welcoming. Stopped in for lunch at 12:30 on a Thursday and the place was packed. However the line moved very quickly and I was seated and served within about 5 minutes. I ordered oone of the combos that consisted of one chicken salad, either as a sandwich or by itself, plus one side, plus a cookie. I got the Kickin' Kay Lynn salad b/c I am a jalapeno addict. I ordered it plain, no bread, and got the broccoli salad as my side. The cookie of the day was white chocolate macadamia nut, so yay me. At first glance the portions seemed a little small, estimate 1/2 cup each. The cookie was about the size you would get out of a Chips Ahoy bag. However. It turns out this was exactly the right size for me. I cleaned my plate since everything was delicious, and I left feeling satisfied but not miserable, like I would have been if I had gone to Five Guys a few doors down. The chicken salad was extremely fine in texture, not chunky, so I wasn't sure I was going to like it. But I ate it on the cute little wheat club crackers provided with the meal, and it was outstanding. Will def be back to sample some of the other chicken salad varieties. read more

Good gracious. Today, my wife and I were looking for a new place to eat. We decided on Chicken Salad Chick on Sunset Blvd. What a joy to find good food, fair prices, and a wonderful staff that actually cares about their customers. I've never been a fan of any of the chicken salads, so when my office ordered lunch I opted for the pimento cheese sandwich. Everyone's order was correct except mine -- got a chicken salad sandwich. Even the cookie tasted off. The only edible thing was the dill pickle. read more
