Very unimpressed with this place and would not recommend. the boss Nick told me he'd come meet me at 8AM to fix my car window that was busted open and broken into for $200, when the time came he completely ghosted, declined my calls and didn't even answer until almost 4 hours later. Very unprofessional and unreliable in my opinion especially for something as stressful as that. I even took time off for this appointment that I didn't even get. I had a feeling he was gonna do that though. He explained that my car required an extra step that most guys skip/cheap out on. Only one other business mentioned the same thing. I usually go thru Safelite for windshield replacements because of how convenient the mobile service is but they didn't have any available appointments for today & I was quoted $475 to replace my windshield. I yelped Windshield Replacement in the San Diego area just to see what's out there & i'm SO glad that I called Chief Auto Glass (& it was totally meant to be that Nick had my car's windshield in his van at the time I called!!!) Nick (the owner) was really nice, super helpful & was very accommodating to replace my windshield literally 2 hours after I called! When Nick arrived at my house, from start to finish... it took literally 15 minutes. Other windshield shops I called said that it would take 1-1.5 hours for the whole process & you know how busy life is, there's just not enough time to just sit and wait around. PLUS, it was decently priced as compared to Safelite's quote (with no additional charge for mobile service) I am so pleased with the whole experience - I highly recommend!!! 28M, Retail worker Synapsis: They left my car with no windshield, hood popped open, wipers and tools in the street so they could go back to get the right glass. They should have called so I could stand out their with my car. They installed the wrong glass anyway, and I only noticed because the mirror housing wasn't attached properly (rain sensor and safety sensors wouldn't have worked). They rattled off lie after lie as to why everything was fine which told me they messed up and tried to cover it up. They put on the old glass and put up a stink about putting my wipers, hood cover and other bits back on. Idk about their technical skill because I never got that far, but as customer service and honesty goes, they're garbage. I'm just going to write the series of events or else this post would be too long. -Quoted $300 a few weeks prior than quoted $350 when I called again but they did honor the original $300. -The guy got started on my windshield and was nice enough to ask me about my front facing camera to make sure it was ok the way he set it. I didn't think about it before so I'm glad he check in. -I came out about 30min later he was nowhere to be found. Widows were down, no windshild, tools and wipers on the ground, car hood popped open. He had gone back to get the correct glass, which is fine, I would have understood and just chilled by my car. Poor judgment to leave my car completely open to theft. I told him it wasn't cool to leave my car like that and that he should have called me saying he needed to get the correct glass. -about 15 min later he called saying he was done. I paid and he drove off. I noticed that the housing to the rear view mirror wasn't on properly and tried to fix it. After some playing around I realized that the mirror was 1in too low from the over head light housing that the mirror connects to. I called the dude back and we sat in the car playing with it. This is where the lying comes in. -First it was there's a piece missing -Then it was, this is how it was - Then it was this is how it's going to be we can't adjust where the mirror sits (You have to take the mirror off to put the glass in.) -After going back and forth and calling his boss, I made up my mind that it was the wrong windshield or else the mirror housing would sit right on the ceiling (it was completely loose and rattling around) -When I asked for a solution I was told that they'd get an OEM glass in a week for $1200 (which is Screw you pricing) or they take the windshield and put the old one back. I argued about that for a minute but decided to take the old windshield back. Here is another flood of lies. -First it was ok we'll take our glass back but I already threw yours out. I could see my car wash sticker in the truck and VW in the corner, it was mine glass. -By this Time I was on the phone with a new place and they asked for the new glass part number and the chief auto guy wouldn't say a word or tell me the part number cuz he new it was the wrong windshield. The new glass guy on the phone couldn't believe what was going on and how ridiculous it was. -I got Chief auto to put the old glass back in but I had to ask him to put ALL my stuff back together, the wipers, the hood housing, the rain gutters cuz he was going to leave my car in pieces. He put up a stink and started mouthing off about the situation. I'm shocked and insulted that they couldn't just own up that they got the wrong glass. We all make mistakes it would have been annoying but WAY better than this situation. Idk about their technical skill because I never got that far, but as customer service and honesty goes, they're garbage. read more

Somehow the side mirror of my car was broken and I was stressed to find a place to fix it as soon as possible since I had work and a lot of errands to run. I called about ten different auto glass repair shops and Chief Auto Glass had the best deal (My mirror needed to have the defroster on it so it was more than a regular side mirror). We texted back and forth a few times after we had spoke on the phone and it seemed like everything was going to go through and be done very smoothly. something told me to ask about the price of the mirror again via text and what was supposed to be a $100 side mirror via a phone quote turned into a $300 quote via text message!! I told him that that was not the agreed upon price and I would not be working with them for a $200 up charge!! He responded that he was only joking about the price and did not know I remembered the original price he quoted me in the morning. I went ahead and had the work done with them since they were the cheapest company I could find but I feel like this company was trying to get extra money out of me which is completely disrespectful.
