Came on a rainy Saturday at around 6 PM and there was no wait for the two of us. Spicy wontons and eggplant with chili garlic sauce were both excellent. Mapo tofu with beef was good as well.

Solid Chinese spot in Greenpoint area serving predominantly Sichuan style Chinese food. Went on a Saturday around 6:30pm for a party of 6. We called 15min or so before just to check if there was seating and they were kind enough to hold the table for us. At any rate our group ordered most of the items off the mains and some apps. All were really solid, but I'd say highlights for me were the Dan Dan noodles (always a hit) and the Sichuan spicy boiled pork. Both had excellent mala balance. The chicken steak with was also tasty with the ginger scallion sauce. Most of the items were pretty similar to what you can expect from other popular sichuan spots in the city. Service was solid and attentive despite there being really only one person working front of house. They definitely run a tight ship since there isn't actually that much seating (maybe 20 or so seats?). Definitely cozy spot. Overall, this is a really solid option in Greenpoint if you're looking for some good Sichuan food for a weeknight takeout or casual dinner. No frills, just solid food. Would recommend if you're in the area.

My rule of thumb is that restaurants that only serve a few things on the menu must be amazing - Chiko lived up to that bill! I got both the mapo tofu and the eggplant dishes with beef to go - they were deliciously spicy, warm, and just felt like a comforting home cooked meal. I was thinking they might be the same sauce, but the eggplant sauce was actually a bit tangier / sour (not in a bad way!) than the mapo sauce. The portion size is great as well, which honestly makes this place a pretty good deal as well. I will definitely be coming back to Chiko! A wonderful casual option.

GREAT PLACE def I'll come back!! modern feeling dining area and chic bar counter. It was Sunday they open at 2pm. It was not so packed we enjoyed our conversation. All dishes come with full of surprises. I think I got the best garlic bean strings ever in NYC. Fried chicken was juicy and so moistened. Lime got kicked in with sweet chili sauce. Can't forget the taste! Of course MUST order the Mapo Tofu! Everything was delicious but moreover, they all are affordable prices but great portions! I shut out the business and you'll definitely get enough of them!!

Squeezing in close to closing after a long wait at the nail salon. Despite being 10 minutes out from closing the waitress seated us encouraging an order soon as possible. We went with the dan Dan noodles (beef) and eggplant with beef.... First time having Dan Dan noodles and not particularly something I'd reorder, the thick nutty sauce was good, but nit something I'd want poured over my noodles, thankfully it was served on the side. The eggplant was DIVINE!!!! Chinese eggplant with ground beef and chili garlic sauce, absolutely delicious, however it doesn't come with rice, you have to order on the side (I feel as if this type of dish should come with white rice always). Intimate vibe, dimly lit, and perfect for a quiet date. I can see returning to try out some of the other items on the menu. Not a large menu and not many, if any seafood options, at least they have tofu and mushroom options. Overall a great meal... Will return!

Chiko is a gem on Manhattan Avenue in Greenpoint. Although we only stopped in for a little taster, the dishes we ordered were showstoppers. The honey spicy chicken, Dan Dan Noodles and Marinated Cucumbers were all so delicious and wonderfully prepared. The room's aesthetic is very cool and relaxing. And our server was gracious and passionate about the restaurant and the food he was bringing out to us. I can't wait to go back for a substantial meal, and to explore their menu.

Chiko is my FAVORITE restaurant in Greenpoint!!!!!!!! The Mapo Tofu over rice is my go to order and anytime someone ask for a recommendation, I send them here!! Having experience both take out and dining in the service is always great. I LOVE THIS PLACE & YOU SHOULD TOO!

Excellent takeout joint in Greenpoint. They have a small menu which I'm guessing they experiment with from time to time. Their current menu has a wicked mapo tofu, might just be the best I have ever had. A tofu noodle( they have a chicken version too) which is heavy on the Szechuan peppercorn but also has a significant sour umaminess to it with the very familiar numbing feel which may or may not appeal to everyone. The tofu is large, soft and pillowy and soaks up the broth beautifully. I noticed the flavor actually getting better and better with every bite. The noodles have a good bite to them and stay consistently firm throughout the meal. The garlic green beans side was simple and also very delicious. Will most definitely order again!

Cozy sichuan spot with snug seating and a warm vibe. Perfect for rainy days or intimate dates. Enjoyed the mapo tofu and cucumbers the most!

What a gem of a sichan place! Constant rotating menu with their maple tofu being the only seemingly permanent staple so far. Everything I've had there is delicious. So far it's only been take out only and there's one table outside but i heard recently they started having indoor dining again. I don't know if they will ever convert the restaurant back to an omakase concept, I kind of hope not because this really is an outstanding sichuan place, it's what mission Chinese hoped to be. Small focused menu, always a plus for me.

The restaurant is currently operating with a limited menu, and with take out only. Food is conveniently packaged for take out. The dumplings were really good, and the noodles were mostly tasty but the broth was a bit too sour for my tastes.

I next just got a regular lychee martini, which was much less sweet & a perfect drink #2 - we started with the pork dumplings which had such a complex sauce. it looked like a basic chili oil but there was a tangy vinegar and a sweet aftertaste that balanced out the numbing spice. the dough was so chewy & thick, I loved. - the cold eggplant was very garlic forward & naturally ofc coated in spice. it's a large serving of the same vegetable but we ate every piece - we split the tofu & fish entree. this was insane, the same base and consistency as mapo tofu. incredibly rich and flavorful with light large chunks of silken tofu & battered fried soft fish. the fish absorbed so much of the sauce, which honestly I was eating by the spoonful.

All of them were served in a similar Sichuan chili sauce. It was on the milder side, so there was only a slight numbness in the mouth. Definitely a great way to introduce people to this cuisine who are hesitant about spiciness. For the main course, we shared the Ma Po Tofu. This item was marked with three chilis on the menu indicating it is the highest spice level here. It was definitely the spiciest item by far. You get the full mala effect with a bold pepper flavor plus big time numbing that lingers well after. It was my favorite dish but might not be for everyone. Rice is not included so be sure to add at least one order. They have a full bar with lots of house cocktails. Some wines and a handful of beers including draft options. There are two single occupancy restrooms with one being handicap accessible. The staff was super hospitable. They were extra accommodating and made our experience wonderful.

The food is why we are all here and this place did not miss! We sat at the bar because we didn't have a reservation and it was a Sunday night. The only other place I've had soup dumplings as good is in flushing - that's high praise from this queens girl. Next up we ordered the scallion pancakes - which ruined all other scallion pancakes for me. They were ultra crispy and flaky. The dipping sauce was deeply flavorful and the portion was perfect. We also ordered the chicken wantons that came in a chili crisp oil and peanut sauce, delicious. The pork noodles were the secret star because the description was pretty straight forward. But my partner is a chef and insisted we get them. They were some of the best noodles I've ever had. Definitely made in house and they were coated in a flavorful sauce. The crispy garlic chicken was so good that I had to take it to go because we were stuffed, still amazing the next day.
