I've been here multiple times and it's very delicious and affordable. You order when you get in at the kiosk and they bring the food to you. The place is small so if it's busy be prepared to wait or be a little cramped. The best deal is definitely the dumpling happy hour. If you want to get something else I would recommend the fried chicken or orangeish chicken. The staff is friendly. Things usually come out quick every once in awhile one thing takes a little bit to come out but overall very good. Good gluten free options. read more

I really wanted to like this spot more because on paper it sounds like exactly the type of food that I love (fusion noodles), but it missed the spot on a few notes that keep it from a 5 star rating. I'll start by saying that the main dishes were good. Well-balanced, generous on the protein, and has a good punch of flavor. Where I felt like the mark was missed was primarily in some of the smaller dishes. We ordered the bulgogi dumplings as part of their "Dumpling Happy Hour" (Great idea). The skin was crispy, but the filling was a bit underwhelming. The bulgogi kind of had the consistency of spam/hot-dog and tasted a bit more gamey than what I expect out of bulgogi which was a bit odd. We also ordered kids noodles for $7 bucks and tbh, it was a waste of money. It was described as buttered furikake noodles and we opted without furikake, but I still expected at least some flavor. It had no flavor at all and there appeared to be no seasoning (or butter) which felt disappointing especially given the price. The main entrees were good! I think the portion sizes are slightly on the smaller size, but aside from that everything was spot on there. Great flavor and balance! Ambiance is kind of street market meets modern restaurant. There's a decent amount of seating inside, albeit it's a bit dark inside. There are staff who bus the tables, but otherwise you're pretty much responsible for getting your own things (utensils, drinks, that type of thing). I had been wanting to visit this restaurant. I am very happy that I did! My friends and I ordered bulgogi dumplings, chicken dumplings, chicken wings, and spicy fried bulgogi. Everything was delicious! It was full of flavor. The spice level was great because it was tolerable and had a sweet and tangy taste to it. The staff was very nice and fast even though the restaurant was full and very busy. The restaurant is small but it fits a lot of people because there is a lot of seating available. I liked that they had music playing but it was low enough to hold a normal conversation with my friends. I highly recommend it! read more

I love you, CHIKO! I come here so often that I'm a bit surprised I haven't sent in a review. I only tend to come here around the dumpling happy hour, which is every day from 3-6 -- including weekends(!!!) I've tried every dumpling they have, but I would say that the shrimp is the best. I also appreciate the fact that I can order and pay via QR code/Toasttab so I don't have to talk after a long day at work. My service is always quick and the dumplings are always hot. I've had a few other dishes here and they haven't disappointed. This spot is worth checking out if you've been on the fence about checking it out! read more

Pork & kimchi dumplings were good, but nothing really special (although the addition of the Asian pear to eat with it was a smart combo). Cumin lamb noodles were really good.....I love cumin lamb though. Soy glazed brisket was also super buttery and the sour peppers made it a great balance of flavors. Only complaint: Although flavors were all delicious it was all quite saucy/salty. I think "less is more" would apply to all the dishes. You gotta order the wings here, they are phenomenal! I tried the spicy soy glazed option which were perfectly double fried with just the right amount of heat. I got ahead of myself and also ordered the pork and kimchi potstickers, furikake butter rice, and spicy cucumbers which was a lot for just me - but hey, leftovers! The sides were ok but I'll probably skip them next time and try more the dumplings. Came here for lunch and got immediately seated. This place is amazing: you order from a QR code on the table and pay the tab when you would like. Lunch portions are also huge -- we ordered three items and could barely finish 1.5. They have a short and sweet menu with some great options. This place has unfortunately sacrificed quality over the last two years. I've always known them for their bulgogi tots but the last couple of times I've had them have been just aite. Their portion for tots is definitely smaller and also all the toppings are just less than before. Not a lot of bulgogi itself to justify $15. This last time I also ordered the orange-ish chicken ($21) figuring I'd take the leftovers home. Portion on that one is the same as before. The sauce on the side is considerate but my chicken was cold. Like from the refrigerator cold. I think I got lunchtime leftover chicken or even day-old chicken and maybe that's why they don't add sauce to it ahead of time. After only three or four bites, I decided not to take it home lest I get sick from it. I spoke to the gentleman at the counter asking how they prepare the chicken and if it's made to order. He said it's fried in the fryer and didn't really know if it was made to order. When I told him that it was cold, he said it may be because there were so many orders that it may have gotten cold before someone could run it out to me. I said it was like from the refrigerator cold and he apologized. They also weren't terribly busy at the time. I should've asked for a refund on the chicken then but just wanted to get going. This is a conscious note to me to avoid going there and patron some other old faithful spots. This place is a great place to get some delicious Asian fusion food in a casual setting. It's a small and intimate spot but has a few tables where you can comfortably sit and enjoy your meal. Once you enter someone will seat you at your table and then you can take a look at the menu by scanning the QR code on your phone, and placing the order. You also pay on your phone too which is nice. After having some drinks at Mi Casa, we were hungry and this was the perfect meal to have after drinking. We ordered the crispy chicken spring rolls, the double fried chicken wings, and the Bulgogi tots. Everything was delicious but my favorites were the spring rolls and the tots. I have never eaten something like either of those before. What a great fusion of cuisines. The kimchi was flavorful and complimented the dumplings really well. The brisket was very tender and had a great sauce. I don't like that the happy house dumpling are sooo limited. Not much checking up on you, and that's fine cus everything is pretty self explanatory and don't need much help after food is brought out. Every one is friendly of course. This place is the truth! Great food! Quick service! Clean dining room! I could eat here everyday. My garlic shrimp dumplings with chili oil were the best I've had in a while. They give you five but I could've easily downed another five. Instead I got a bowl of rice with furikake butter. It was an excellent choice and the perfect side to my dumplings. I loved the dan dan noodles - perfectly cooked noodles and so much flavor. My favorite part of my experience other than how flavorful my food was was how hot my food was. It is also pretty spicy and sweet at the same time....very overpowering and I could not taste any other flavor. The service...I did not get checked on or get a water refill....I saw my female server literally once to sit me down. I had to get up to get a to-go box in this tiny place because they are just so busy chatting and looking elsewhere. It is self-service ordering thru their computer and I barely got any service but it is defaulted to tip 20%... Wow, I was so impressed by Chiko!!! I had my first meal on this trip to DC and the restaurant is located in the Georgetown neighborhood. Food here is Korean-Chinese. I walked in early for the dumpling happy hour and for $5, you get a set of three dumplings. I had the Chicken and the Garlic Shrimp Dumpling and wow, there was so much flavor in each bite. Each dumpling was made in an individual sauce and had meat/vegetables and execution was done so well - very impressed and some of the best dumplings I had. I could also taste the difference between the distinct sauces in each dumpling dish and I was very impressed. For my main course, I had the Cumin Lamb Noodle and I haven't tasted lamb this good since I've lived in China back in 2016. I was so impressed by the delicacies and intricacies in the dish. If a chef can cook lamb good, that's when you know they are incredibly talented. Also, they were so generous with their portion sizes and I was so full by the end of my meal. Stopped by for dinner recently. Decent amount of seating, so relatively fast to get seated, but they seem to have a very busy takeout business, so the food service was a bit slower. I got the spicy bulgogi stir fry, and overall it was solid. The rice cake to bulgogi ratio was a bit too high for me; really felt like I was eating rice cake for 80% of the time. The rice cake itself was quite yummy though, as it had a great chew and texture to it. The bulgogi was also tender and flavorful. The sauce they use isn't really spicy as they say in the dish title, and overall just felt like a pretty average soy sauce glaze. Overall, pretty homey dish, but didn't feel super special in anyway. Felt like I could have made something similar at home pretty quickly without too much effort. Will still happily stop by if I feel lazy or want a quick bite though! read more

Abominations are allowed to exist when there is a lack and dearth of quality restaurants to show the local population how something should taste, chiko is that abomination. While strolling through DC, it becomes painfully apparent how few Chinese restaurants are here, Korean restaurants? Non-existent. Came here at 8:10 Saturday night, thinking I could get seated since all info points to this place closing at 9, was immediately shooed away and told they were only doing take out and dining in was closed for the night, a little confused but was so intrigued by this option I decided to take up the takeout offer. I ordered the cumin lamb noodles, braised beef over rice and the full monty. The full monty irked me tremendously since bonchons aka appetizers such as kimchi, pickled radish, marinated cucumbers etc are supposed to be offered complimentary with the meal, here instead they charge 20 dollars for something incredibly basic and uninspiring except for maybe the egg with seaweed and salmon roe. Pushing past many of the accruing lows of this place, the biggest lows came next with the main dishes. Both the cumin lamb and marinated beef were packed with carbs offering very little of the actual proteins mentioned in the name of the dish. The cumin lamb was bland, was drenched in soy sauce and barely had any cumin flavor or spice to the dish. The marinated beef tasted like smoked ham, I was extremely disturbed that this was an interpretation of what is supposed to be an Asian dish, with holiday ham and pickled jalapenos being the main attractions to this dish. A unique interpretation of what Korean and Chinese food is supposed to be, but ultimately if there were any quality Chinese or Korean restaurants around the area, this restaurant would be offensive in how subpar it actually is. read more

Fantastic lamb dish! I walked in after being intrigued by the menu. You order at the counter. Placed was packed. Ambiance wasn't great but didn't matter. They do lots of volume and you can watch chefs cook. Wait staff were friendly and got my order fast. I ordered the lamb in cumin stir fry and quite simply one of the most amazing meals I've eaten in a year. I substituted asparagus for the mushrooms and cooked to perfection. I ordered a spicy cucumber side dish that was super spicy and delicious. I eat this dish frequently and it had this gravy to it and I still can't figure out what that flavor was. I walked out of there a happy man blown away by how yummy the meal was. Lamb was ample and cooked perfectly. Cost was typical DC. Reasonable for the area. Can't recommend enough. read more

Went for the dumpling happy hour with a friend and it was an overall good meal. The prices were great ($5 for 3 dumplings) but if you're looking for authentic dumplings then this place is not for you - it's a fusion restaurant. I wish the beef dumplings were more of a loose filling since it was tough to chew and the entire beef slipped out of the dumpling shell. The shrimp was good but I'd go for one of the pan fried options. Service was alright since you only order via phone so the servers will forget to check up on you. The place is cool on the inside but there was a ton of smoke coming from the open kitchen so the entire dining area smelled like smoke while it got a little smoky. If I come back, I think I'd rather try an entree than the dumplings. read more

I hate de-rating good food for poor service, but that's the fact here. Food was excellent. Tasty and filling. Service was abysmal. I've had better service at Chick-Fil-A. Tables are not waited; you can only order via app, and food is simply brought to you. Among other things, this means a) there's nobody to answer questions about the menu, and b) your water probably will not get refilled unless you go out of your way to flag down the (very busy) server. The water thing was especially frustrating since I ordered a spicy dish. Also frustrating: our appetizer and my dish arrived within 5 minutes of ordering. However, 15 minutes after ordering we were still waiting for my wife's dish. After asking, I was told the kitchen was backlogged with take-out orders. That is 100% UNACCEPTABLE. Despite a promise that it would only be 2-3 more minutes, it was another 10 minutes (25 minutes after ordering) before her dish arrived; mine was nearly cold from waiting. read more

The happy hour is only dine in but I didn't mind, I figured it shouldn't take them very long to make the dumplings. The restaurant space itself is on the smaller side so it's definitely not meant for larger groups. Going there with 4-6 people is more than enough. I'm not sure if it gets super crowded but I was there on a weekday, just a few minutes after 4pm. There were a few people dining in and plenty of open tables. It's self seating and you place and pay for your order by scanning the QR code at the table. It's very simple and easy to use. Once your order is prepared, a server will bring it out to you. I placed my order for their chicken dumplings and proceeded to salivate as I waited and watched other people receive their orders. After some time went by I realized that my order was taking longer than anticipated but the cook who was right out front saw me and reassured me that my order was coming right up. The server eventually brought my order said the cook added an extra dumpling for the wait time. It was unexpected and I was so grateful for it! What an awesome flavor experience! I was blown away by the meal I ordered which came with kimchi, potstickers, and a lamb stir fry. They packed my bowl with delicious kimchi, which I brought home to repurpose into fried rice. The potstickers were tasty and juicy! The dipping sauce was excellent. The stir fry was full of so much flavor - I just failed to read that it was spicy, and spicy it was! I had to drink a lot of water with this dish, but it was so worth it for the flavor in this dish.
