Since I am a LA Burger fanatic (or, used to be) I am quite critical of the kimchi fries from any other place. These fries were alright, they could be a little more crunchy and the kimchi and bulgolgi mix could be better and more flavorful, but it just falls apart after a while. And maybe it's because I eat slowly, but so do my friends, but I'm glad they enjoyed their fries. I got the K-pops which were Korean sauce slathered on HUGE chicken wings. Now, these were good, but I feel like the sauce combo I ordered were not that great together. I got a sweet and sour sauce and the Korean sauce on the wings did not complement them at all. But I still finished them and they were pretty good. Next time, I'll try another flavor. Maybe a more spicy one, since I just love hot wings. The Chi'Lantro food truck is absolutely delicious, so I had huge expectations when it comes to their food at their restaurant. Walking in on a Friday night around 8:45pm, it's a very small crowded restaurant with a huge amount of energy. Despite all the tables being filled up and the line extending back to the front door, the system was pretty efficient at getting orders and seating diners. I came as a party of two and seated ourselves within 20 minutes. Our arrived came 8-10 minutes later and by then we were famished. We ordered their K-pops with gangnam sauce, rice bowl with bulgogi, and kimchi fries. K-Pops: Spoiler alert, the K-pops were the star of the night. The chicken wings were fried perfectly and the meat super tender all throughout. The gangnam sauce was delicious and not so heavy that it overpowers the taste of the chicken. 5/5, will order again and again and again. Rice Bowl: I ordered the rice bowl with bulgogi, but the bulgogi seemed to only make up 10% of the bowl's contents. I expected the rice and the bulgogi to be the star components of the dish, but were severely overpowered by the beans on every spoonful. I could barely taste the rice, I wish I was exaggerating. 2/5, more rice and meat and less beans please. Kimchi Fries: The ones from the truck are better in my opinion. At the restaurant, there were a lot of fries that weren't covered in cheese and sauce. The taste was there, but it wasn't the same gooey comfort-food deliciousness as the ones from the food truck. Hopefully it was just an isolated incident. 3/5. Although it was mostly self-serve, the waiters and cashiers were really nice. Mathematically, my rating would fall at a 3.5, but I can't bring myself up to giving them four stars. This place is actually really small so there isn't a ton of seating available. You order at the counter and they will deliver your food to your table. I got the bulgogi rice bowl. It comes with a ton of vegetables and not a lot of bulgogi, which is unfortunate. There were beans, which I personally don't like, corn, which added a sweet burst of flavor, and an egg, which went perfectly with the rest of the bowl. So when I visited Austin this weekend and I realized they had opened up a restaurant I had to check it out! The employees were nice, the restaurant was clean and the food was more than amazing. I highly recommend trying their kimichi fries with beef and their burger with beef. The fries have every delicious topping you could imagine, they are so amazingly delicious. The fries are a MUST TRY. Their burger is awesome as well, it comes with an egg, melted cheese, kimchi, etc. It's the most wonderful combination of ingredients ever. I got the rice bowl with spicy chicken avocado and a carrot ginger sauce on the side. As you can see from the picture they were really generous with the avocado and the rice bowl was so much more than just plain rice and it included black beans, corn, carrots, cabbage and onions. When I'm opting for something more on the healthy side, I love the salad with the marinated tofu. The tofu is very flavorful and delicious on its own, so no need to douse it in sauce. My mother likes getting the brown rice bowl, my husband is a big fan of the burrito with spicy chicken and lots of kimchi, and my kids love Value Rice Bowl with just white rice, soy glazed chicken, and tortilla chips. They devour it! Getting takeout is super easy. The online ordering system is simple and they do curbside pickup. If you haven't tried Chi'Lantro yet, do it! Prior to covid this place was awesome! Now that we pick up curbside our order has been wrong two out of three times. The first time we ordered for two and it was spot on. The second time we ordered for seven and two of the orders we incorrect. This time we ordered for four and all four orders were incorrect. The second order was all done online, the third by phone. The second order we chatted them up on insta and they apologized and sent us a gift card, which was super nice.
