Kind staff, but Deb is terrible. Wait for this to be open, hours wrong online. Went to check it out. Had met an employee there so went to stop by on my way to do something. They weren't open for dinner, so planned to come the next day. There were cars out front so I stopped after I already had lunch to find out if they were open. This was the day before their Facebook said they were opening and apparently they had been. Open a week, no sign, inaccurate online hours. ( I'd been curious and asked when I was in Taos to which I heard such things as the food making people sick and apparently someone who worked there prior warning about Deb and saying the farm to table claim is questionable and it comes frozen, since I had prior at Carson met the cook and they said wonderful things I was looking forward to trying it) I love Reubens its a go to where ever I travel especially if different and brisket. So, claiming a farm to table Rueben had me excited. Like I'd had a Bison one in Chautauqua Dining hall in a prior years travels. Employee asks if I could use a shower as I'd been camping. Declined at first, didn't want to be impolite when they said don't worry about it. Go over to where they are and Deb goes off on me, how much it pissed her off her hard working employee paid for my shower. Like one, they know I can afford a shower because I'm on my way to look at property, hence meeting them and talking. For another thing to pretend you charging people, many whom don't have access to running water $6 for a shower is charity of some sort shows the kind of person you are. Your employee who is so nice, brought you business and even offered something nice you apparently charged them for and your bad attitude ruined all of it. Ended up waiting and eating a locally sourced sandwich in Chama. I had about $120 in my pocket so if you were cash only wasn't an issue either. If that wasn't icing on the cake after my previous review on another site I get a gem of a response I attached. Yeah Deb it's my fault your hours or wrong, I ate lunch on my way and didn't even know you would be actually open and not for dinner of all hours. At least I got a shower out of 3 visits, 2 closed and one meeting and getting a lecture from the notorious DEB.

Food is great for a place in the middle of nowhere. Friendly service. Was well worth the 100yd detour past the turn to Taos. We actually went back a second time for lunch the next day when we were checking out the Rio Grande Gorge.

In the middle of nowhere, this place surprised me with the quality of the food delivered. And the presentation was excellent too. Simply a hidden gem! Wait staff and owner are charming folks. I'll be back!

Love this place. The owner is colorful, at times volatile, but she's got a heart of gold and she's very proud of her food and business. The best green chile in the state! Local meat and buns for the burger, fresh toppings and cooked perfectly every time. The fries are cut thick and single-fried so they aren't real crispy. My dad made them that way, so I love them! The elk stew special was to die for. Don't sleep on their reuben either. Live local music some nights; beer and wine, what more could you ask for this close to Rio Grande del Norte and some of the best camping in the country!?

If you're near the Taos area and looking for an incredible restaurant, then LOOK NO FURTHER!! Chili Line Depot is now a MUST HAVE in our family. From the incredible, friendly staff that welcomes you the moment you walk in the door. To the fresh, delicious food being cooked by the amazing owner Mrs Debbie. We were SO THANKFUL we stopped here while we were in the Taos area. We had the cheeseburger with green chilis & the blt. Both homemade and melt in your mouth DELICIOUS. In fact we loved it so much, we ordered to go food to bring on the road with us. Do yourself a favor. Stop in a Chili Line Dept. You'll love it as much as we did!! Thank you Mrs Debbie & Cassandra!

Great food, great service. Off the beaten path but well with it. We saw a story about it. So glad we took the article's advice and tried it.

We secured the Chef's Tasting menu as the ultimate experience to spoil my mom for Mother's Day…read more.. The food (each course) was expertly crafted and full of wonderful flavors. Started with Wagyu/Angus burnt ends and savory red chile sauce. Tender and delicious. We then moved to the almost crusted Chilean Sea Bass with cilantro basmati rice and locally sourced microgreens and asparagus. Blew me away. The best course, IMO, was the duck confit with corn and hatch chile bread pudding. Accompanied by macerated blueberries and delicious red amaranth micro greens. Chef's kiss. The bouillabaisse was multilayered and seafood was perfectly prepared. To round out our evening, we indulged in a key lime pie that was refreshing and the perfect close to a wonderful meal. The chef and staff are so wonderful. They take care of you and can relate without any kind of pretension. Highly recommend

Being a native New Mexican who hasn't lived in northern NM for over 26 years, I, too, need a break…read morefrom my native cuisine! BFF and I were visiting the plaza and I wanted to eat linner somewhere different. As I researched restaurants prior to our trip, I found this gem and they have happy hour 7 days a week! After reading the many great reviews, we arrived approximately 15 min early prior to them opening as we were not sure how busy it would be on a Sunday afternoon. We arrived prior to the bartender but she showed up shortly after we did and took a seat at the bar!. Now, I genuinely do not like bar seating as I prefer a table, and they have one that sits 10 people but since there was two of us we did not want to hog up that much space. Our server was great and we started off with the brussel sprouts and elote corn ribs with red chile butter. Both were delicious and off the charts! I opted for the chicken sando and BFF ordered the steak frites. Both were delish and full of flavor! We also had a really good pinot cab. Our bill was a bit pricey for their HH menu (116.00 incl 5 glasses of cab total) but worth every penny! Ambience is totally cool, laid back, classy (but not pretentious) with a modern rustic flair on the inside. Will definitely be back if I am in Taos again!
