My husband and I had a chilis gift card so we stopped by Friday night for a late dinner We ordered two triple dippers and a half rack of ribs and some drinks You get free chips and salsa when you sit down too The triple dippers are a huge amount of food - we def did not need to order two - our mistake!! The half rack comes with fries and mac and cheese - a large portion honestly We could've split just one triple dippers and the ribs and have been fine but we have a lot of leftover food from last night at least I ordered the frozen strawberry patron margarita- very good I had two! Service was quick - all the food was out in less than 15 minutes! Our server was friendly and we were able to check out at the table kiosk easily Large indoor dining space and they even have a free burger time arcade game while you wait Clean restrooms too!

The infamous Chili's on Lamar...gotta love it. The food is fresh from the freezer and the beer pours are always an inch too low. The staff is always shorthanded and the place could use a good power washing. However, all of these things are what make it a total gem. Get a triple dipper, a Modelo at happy hour for $5, and be on your merry way. I love you, Chili's.

Triple dipper was great! Food came out fast and the staff was very helpful always checking up on us and opening doors. The drinks were cold and the sauces were good. I would definitely recommend the triple dipper or the smashburger. The bathrooms were also soooo clean!

Kicking off our anniversary date night in style. The place was packed on a Sunday evening with a wait for tables but the bar had plenty of space. We were just in for a drink before dinner. I got the monthly marg special a blackberry strawberry combo which was sweet but delicious and refreshing. The presidente marg was large with refills on the shaker. All in all a stellar addition to the Austin dining scene.

There was no wait for us to sit down but we came at 3pm on a Friday. The waitress was nice and helpful when ordering food. We both got the triple dipper one with mozzarella sticks, southwest egg rolls, and nashville hot crispers. The other had the sliders, southwest egg rolls, and honey chipotle crispers. It was good if you just want super fast/casual sit down food with friends or family. But, if you want to go somewhere nicer this would not be the place. I thought the restaurant was cozy and had interesting/unique interior design. I liked the ceiling lights, but my friend thought it was super bright. Overall, great place to eat near campus (not walking distance though).

So I recently started dining at chilis because there really aren't that many affordable casual restaurants in this part of Austin and sometimes I want to spend 12$ or less on a margarita and just eat some classic American pub fare. This one is a special one since it's been on 45th and Lamar since I've been here which for me is excellent since I live less than 2 miles away from here. Your greeted enthusiastically when you enter and the restaurant is big enough that if there is a wait it shouldn't take that long. Parking is pretty easy in front of the building though it's a little more tricky on the side shared with Starbucks. I've been seated at the bar which gets swamped making drinks but the bartender is very attentive and they check on you enough if you need to add to your order or order another drink. I would say the same for table service as well. I'm still a fan of their baby back ribs and a half rack is plenty and comes with fries avid Mac and cheese. Their burgers are also tasty and sizeable. Drinks I assume have standard units and 1-2 is just enough to take the edge off. I know this place gets made fun of in the local foodie world but in this economy Chili's looks pretty good,

This Chili's experience earned my business back. I hadn't been to a chilis in over a decade but had an insatiable craving for the honey chipotle chicken crispers and my husband for the baby back ribs. Eventually agreed to give chilis another chance, and they did not disappoint! We arrived for lunch Monday 3pm. Restaurant was mostly empty so nice quiet with all TVs on sports channels. I only saw one server but he was very attentive, checked on us several times and returned quickly with everything like to-go boxes and cocktails (which he was also preparing behind the bar) Thanks Jose! Food was freshly prepared and menu even got an update. It was apparent to me that the flavors had been upgraded before Jose told us the recipes had been changed recently including the size of the baby back ribs went from 4 and 8 for half and full rack, we counted 14 ribs on the full size rack now for 26$ my husband was pleased. Cocktails were delicious, not too strong. Honey chipotle tenders were decent size, I had plenty to take home. They took the street corn off the menu but the loaded mash and steamed broccoli were still great. The southwest egg rolls and burger sliders in the appetizer trio were just as I remembered. But the new Nashville hot mozzarella sticks did not miss! The cheese pull was real and I think it was my favorite part of the meal. It will probably be what brings me back to chili's again!

Perfection personified. Staff were very nice and great at refills. I feel renewed. I feel whole again. I love this chilis. Thank you

Hadn't been to a Chili's in almost 15 years, but if there's one to go to is the one at 45th & Lamar. I am not entirely sure what makes this location so popular, but had a great experience. Our waitress was funny and attentive. I was to sad to see they changed the breading on their chicken crispers, but still enjoyed my meal. I am not a fan of mashed potatoes, but I've always had a budding romance with the loaded mashed potatoes from Chili's. Don't be like me and spend over a decade in Austin without checking this location out.

Phenomenal experience here with great service and food! I've been to this location many times but hadn't been back in years. I was thoroughly impressed the entire night! Arrived on a weekend night during prime time for dinner, and we waited 0 minutes to be seated. Our waiter was with us shortly to get drink orders. Theoughout the entire night, he was extremely attentive even though it was really busy! Probably one of the most attentive waiters I've ever seen! Food was great! They were able to put all the sauces for the ancho salmon on the side. The salmon was cooked well, and the rice and broccoli was also tasty. I wish the broccoli was less salty, but it was still good. Chips and salsa were great too. They also gave us a bag of chips and salsa to go after asking for a take home box!! The noise level was average, and tables were clean. Parking is easy and free right outside. 11/10 recommend this location for their fantastic service!

The restaurant was very accommodating for a group of 9. We did call ahead to make sure they had enough seating. The chicken crispers are always great and it's a lot of food. I'd recommend calling ahead for a large group.

First, the menu needs a rewrite for content and clarity. For example, buying fajitas doesn't list guacamole and based on size, single, for two and family you get more sides of rice or beans. There's no definition of how much actual meat you get and our server couldn't provide that information beyond a rough estimate. Second, the fajitas we got of family size and for two portions for 7 were not consistently cooked. We asked for medium rare and got about 25% at that with the ones in the center at a more well done. Again, the multiple tiny sides were more obnoxious than anything as it's legit beans and rice unless you want to upcharge. The cilantro lime rice tastes like nothing so skip that and go for abuelita rice which has a hint of flavor. Overall, the butter/gravy that go on the fajitas is the real winner but again a menu where you overbuy and misunderstand (that doesn't even list extras like guacamole or a simple small queso) was beyond frustrating. I would stick to them for one to possibly get a better cook.

At this point, El Dorado is an Austin favorite. People don't really debate whether it's good. They debate whether the wait is worth it, which is a very different conversation. So rather than adding another voice to the pile of praise, it seems more useful to talk about what people should actually expect when they go. First, yes, there may be a wait. This place is popular, and popular restaurants attract crowds. That's not a criticism; it's simply the reality. But it's also worth noting that many of the legendary wait times come from showing up exactly when everyone else does. If you can sneak in before or after the prime lunch and dinner rushes, the experience becomes much more manageable. Once you're seated, do yourself a favor and order the white queso. Better yet, if you're with family or friends, just get the sampler. It turns the beginning of the meal into an event rather than a formality. The white queso is every bit as good as people claim, but what surprised me even more was how seriously El Dorado takes its salsa. Most restaurants treat salsa as a free opening act before the main performance. Here, it feels like something carefully considered. Several varieties stood out, and more than one made me wonder why so many places settle for mediocre salsa when it can clearly be this good. As for the food itself, it's important to know what kind of restaurant you're walking into. If your idea of Austin Tex-Mex is fresh, light, bright, and vaguely health-conscious, you may need to adjust your expectations. El Dorado leans toward the heartier side of the spectrum. These are rich, deeply flavored dishes that feel rooted in tradition rather than trends. The portions are generous, the flavors are bold, and the meal has a certain gravitational pull to it. This is not food that politely taps you on the shoulder. It gives you a warm hug and then insists you have another bite. What impressed me most, oddly enough, were the beans and rice. Normally, they're supporting characters that exist simply because tradition demands they be present. At El Dorado, they seem to receive the same attention as everything else on the plate. It's a small detail, but great restaurants often reveal themselves through small details. The service deserves just as much praise as the food. During our visit, we interacted with several different staff members, and every one of them was friendly, attentive, and genuinely pleasant. There was none of the rushed indifference that sometimes sneaks into busy restaurants. Even better, management was actively moving through the dining room, checking on guests, talking with tables, and making sure people were enjoying themselves. It's the kind of thing that doesn't always get noticed when it's done well, but it absolutely contributes to why places like this develop loyal followings. The atmosphere itself is cheerful and comfortable. It's colorful without being flashy, lively without being chaotic. Nobody is going to leave talking about the interior design, but that's perfectly fine. The room accomplishes what it needs to accomplish: it feels welcoming and relaxed, allowing the food and the people to be the stars. As for negatives, there really aren't many. If you're looking for an elevated dining experience with dramatic plating, moody lighting, and a server who explains every ingredient as though introducing characters in a novel, this probably isn't your place. El Dorado seems far more interested in feeding people well than impressing them with presentation. And honestly, that's probably part of the reason Austin loves it so much. Go when you can avoid the biggest crowds. Order the queso. Explore the salsas. Don't overlook the beans and rice. Show up hungry. The food is hearty, the people are kind, and the restaurant knows exactly what it is. In a city where so many places are trying to become something, there's something refreshing about a place that already has.

THAT PLACE IS THE BEST". Located off Mopac and Anderson in North Central Austin, this beloved tex-mex restaurant is situated in a relatively aged shopping strip less than half a mile from the highway. Parking is ample and available so there should be no issues with access getting to the restaurant. Although easy to get to, it's a whole different story getting into the restaurant. First and foremost, they are closed on Sundays and Mondays. Secondly, they are so popular that you should almost always expect a wait. The pro move here is to book a reservation, but if you don't have one - anticipate waiting anywhere between 30 - 90 minutes in order to get in. Once in, you have the option to pick from a variety of tex-mex cuisine, including some local house specials such as the "crunchwrap supreme" which has an interesting backlore related to Taco Bell. Free chips and salsa (choose up to two salsas to try) land as soon as you arrive. El Dorado is known for its vegan tex-mex offerings so those with more particular diets will certainly be able to find something that works. The salsas are tasty. The serving portions are large. The flavors are good - there's really not too much to complain about once you're in and seated.
