After 4 bad visits to this particular Chili's I feel I have to write something. First off, compared to other chili's this one on RT 18 is very loud and food always takes too long. The staff is basically kids with no training at all. We never had a mature server or a server who knew how to wait tables. Today we decided to try this Chili's one more time. Luckily we were seated right away. We looked at the menus and we closed them and put them down and we waited but our luck ended right there. Two different servers walked by our table and looked us in the eyes while we continued to wait. But after 10 minutes we had to walk out. As we were leaving we informed the hostess that we were leaving because we did not get service and her answer was "sorry". Not coming back to this Chili's. I have been coming to this chili's for years now and have never had a problem, until tonight. Upon arriving we got seating right away but waited at the table for about 15 minutes before the server realized we were sitting there, about 20 minutes later we had got our drinks and ordered but shortly after the server came out because she forgot what was in the order. It took 30 minutes for one entree and a bowl of soup to come out and when we were done eating we waited around another 30 minutes for the desert and a box. The server kept complaining how it was swamped when there were about 7 tables filled in the whole place and when we asked for the manager she came out with the server so we couldn't even talk to the manger due to the server standing right next to her. I am not one to complain but for 3 things to come out and a half empty restaurant we were there for and hour and a half which in my eyes is unacceptable. read more

On Friday, Nov. 15, my wife and I visited the East Brunswick Chilis around 9:00 PM, after a long and trying day at a local hospital for out patient surgery. We were promptly seated at a table that was dark and did not appear to have a working TV. In addition to my entree, I ordered hot tea. The waiter came back shortly to tell me that the machine used to make hot water was broken and it would take time for me to get my tea. After a mild protest asking how could a restaurant not have hot water, the waiter became aggitated, went back to the kitchen and came out with a hot cup of water. Obviously some one in the kitchen was smart enough to locate the microwave or a pot to boil water. The entrees arrived and my salad was fine, but my wife's steak was tough and flavorless. it was most assuredly not choice grade. The waiter then came over to inquire how was everything. Not wanting to bother complaining about a $10. steak we replied that everything was fine, at which point the waiter snarkily said, "when you've had some food, everything is better." We really had no intention of writing a complaint about this unpleasant encounter with this Chili's, except for the fact that the following Tuesday I needed my charge card and found that it was lost. Realizing that the last place I used the card was at the Chilis (the waiter obviously never returned it to me), my wife called and was told to call back in a half hour because they were very busy. I promptly put stop on the card and didn't bother calling back. No wonder Brinker's stock keeps going down!!!! read more

Ok this might gross you out but...well, lets first start with me. I always have a great experience with Chili. Love their chicken crispers! Good drinks too. My good friend, she always find stuff in her food. And we had lunch together one time at the one in Rt. 18, and she found a dead tiny insect in her salad. Anyways, all is well because we got chili bucks which the manager gave us for the inconvenience that my friend had. Hey we were able to use that chili bucks to buy more booze! LOL. My first and LAST experience at Chillis. I went here last night and absolutely hated it :( Its not this restaurant in particular, its the entire chain i'm sure but i can definitely say Fridays and Applebees felt like 5 star joints compared to this place. My waiter was very nice but the food was DISGUSTING. I ordered texas cheese fries as an app they were OK. Had to eat them all before the cheese got dry and soggy Entree - cajun chicken pasta. Sounded delicious--- but i couldnt eat more than a few bites without gagging. Worst pasta i have ever had HANDS DOWN. The penne was chewy and hard and the sauce had no flavor. They drowned the chicken in cajun seasoning and grilled it- threw it all together and VOILA. Sorry Chillis , i dont think youre going to last very long. Never had a bad experience at this location. Burgers have always been great and appetizers spot on. Service always brought drink refills and accommodated special requests. The only bad thing is this place gets jam packed during prime hours which for a business isn't necessarily a bad thing but if your a customer will piss you off if you have to wait 45 mins just to get seated. I go here A LOT, I'm sure the waiters know me by now. I think it's one of the few good restaurants to eat at in East Brunswick (at a cheap price that is). Service is great. Never an issue. Pretty attentive. Great prices, good food. Food has never been an issue or changed quality. Big menu, lot's to pick from (burgers, wings, tacos, pasta, quesadilla's, etc). One thing, beer on tap didn't taste right. I think they don't clean the pipes from where the beer comes out of that well. I'm sure I tasted a bit of soap. Overall, thumbs up for this spot. read more

I went to Chilis tonight to have some dinner with my husband and daughter. The evening started okay and the waitress seemed nice. As the night went on Im guessing her other table which was directly across from ours upset her or agitated her because she then became neglectful of us. She checked on us once shortly after the food came out and then never ever came back to check on us again. We had a question about our bill and we also wanted a box to wrap our daughters mac and cheese but we never got anything because she never bothered to come back to say anything to us...not even a "have a good night". We always go to this location and the food and service is always great. I did however break my own cardinal rule and ordered the Dr Pepper baby back ribs. While the taste was decent the half rack was just too skimpy. My husband and I absolutely love this Chili's restaurant. The wait staff is always very nice and helpful. The food is delicious. I couldn't be happier that they have a "lighter options" section since I like to keep in shape. I have tried every entree on that section of the menu and all of them I would have again. We both have never had a dish we didn't enjoy. We had gone there for lunch this past Valentine's Day, and the limited time white chocolate lava cake was to die for. I hope it makes it to the menu again because it's too good to pass up, even for me! We love the call ahead seating feature!! First visit here and first impression is: digital, wireless screens on every table with games and ads. Oh no, not one of those irritating screens-everywhere places! After being reassured that those are only for ordering dessert and that i would get real human service I sat down. But first I had to ask for a larger table since laptop wouldn't fit on the 2-people tables with the screen module present. I ordered, and tried to log on to the wi-fi. "Sorry, no wifi here". Now, that is strange. They obviously have wifi for their screens on every table but no wifi for the customers. All the time horrendous American popusic is playing and too loud too. Is this a Tex-mex place or just a sportsbar? Salad arrives, a cold salad on a warm base plate. Weird. Main entree arrives, warm enough but on a plate severely chipped in the corner. Food taste ok, but just ok. No hot sauce to be seen (at a mexican place!!!) only Heinz ketchup. After asking I am told they only have Tabasco and a giant bottle of that shows up. Seasoning is really needed on the food. However, the server was great, courteous and efficient. But i am not coming back. Even On the Borders is better than this. read more

This Chili's has improved thier decor and layout so it looks nicer. Wife had the salmon, said it was "okay". I have a sensitivity to sodium so ordering something was a challenge. Everything has sauce or something high in salt. I ended up with a standard hamburger. I ordered it medium rare but it came out well done. I should have sent it back because it was dry and had zero flavor but I was hungry and all our food came at once. I probably should have opted for the grass fed beef which is usually more flavorful. If you can tolerate the salty sauces you have plenty of choices. I almost forgot, wife also had a cup of chili. Said it was decent with lots of spice but salty. The server was great. She worked with me to select a low salt option going on what the manager and chef said they could do, kept our water filled with fresh glasses with lemon instead of refilling. I had never been here before as I always insisted to cook my own meals at home, however one day my bf decided to take me out for a break. Oh how fantastic was the brocolli cheese soup, the chicken enchillada soup, and the cheese fries sent me directly to heaven with bits of chives and bacon. Very quick seating and friendly staff. Ordered the 1/2 slab of the dry rub "famous" baby back ribs. The ordered arrived at my table with very good fries and a 3 inch (4 rib) piece of re-heated smoldering leftover. The worst ribs I have ever had in my life. Love the Sunday happy hour and stopped by this location on the way home from the beach for a margarita. I love the bar set up in Long Branch and suppose I was expecting something similar at this location. Holy heck- fire hazard in the making. Bar tables are practically on top of each other. The people sitting in the booths are right next to the high top tables. You're so close to the recessed lighting that you feel like you're on Tv. We waited for one of the ~12 bar seats to open up so we didn't have to sit at the tables. I wanted to take a photo, but others were in the section at the tables. read more
