Today at 2:20 p.m. I took my adult disabled son to Chili's Restaurant in Espanola New Mexico for a late lunch. My son has scoliosis, autism, and seizure disorder. He has not been well and requested lunch at Chili's now that he is better. We entered at the side entrance which opens into a dining/bar area. We walked to the front area to ask about seating but there was no one in site. My son cannot stand long and he cannot sit in a booth due to his scoliosis. As no one was there I led him to a tall table in the bar dining area. A greeter then came to us and wanted to know how many in our group. I told her 2 and she wanted us to move to another area or sit in a booth in the bar/dining area. I told her my son has scoliosis and cannot sit in a booth. Adding "I'm sorry but he can't sit there, can we sit at this tall table?" Instead of letting us sit she asked me to wait until she talked to someone about it and walked away.. Then she came back and said we could sit at the tall tables in the bar/dining area. Then an employee named M*****l came to our table with menus. I told him I'm sorry as he seemed kind of perturbed that we were sitting there. Then I explained again that my son had scoliosis and could not sit in a booth. He replied something about seating stations and still seemed rude. I asked him if he knew of the federal ADA (American Disabilities Act) laws; as all I wanted to do was take my son to a table that would accommodate him for an enjoyable lunch. The waiter then said, "Are we going to have a problem?" I was speechless. He then asked me if I wanted another server, to which I said yes. Because of all the disruption around our table, after my son typed his order on a speech device he began to bite himself which he does to cope with high stress social interactions. All we wanted was a nice lunch at Chili's in Espanola today. Please educate your staff on how to identify handi-capped individuals so that they can be sensitive to the needs of future handi-capped customers that visit the establishment. The food was amazing but our server was awful, we didn't get his name but he was definitely on something, his pupils huge and he was out of it the whole time, it wasn't just pot. He first asked us what drinks, and once we said Dr. Pepper and a water he didn't say anything he just walked away, when he brought us our drinks, again didn't say anything just put them down and walked away, he then came back and asked us for our order, I got the shrimp Alfredo and my gf got the Triple Dipper, once he gave us our food, mine had Chicken Instead of Shrimp, he did say he thought he heard chicken and he was sorry, we didn't mind it at first but then realized our appetizer came after our actual food, with only the queso and no salsa, once that was there I went to the bathroom, my gf said they tried to give us a second plate of shrimp Alfredo, and we didn't order 2, just 1. So when I got back we tried to ignore how bad this was going and we had a great time until we asked for a molten lava cake for dessert and he said yeah and then swung his arm with insane attitude. At this point we lost it, we just wanted to leave so we ask for to-go boxes and I went to the bathroom again and saw him sitting down, leg up on the booth and on his phone, I would've thought he was on brake if he didn't get up very quickly when he saw me. Once we were going to pay, we saw that they charged us for the extra Alfredo that we didn't order and brought to us forcefully, so my gf asked to have that off and then we paid and just left, we usually let a lot of things go as we don't know what they are going through but this was the worst experience we've ever had here or at any place, that dude needs a write up or worse, maybe a drug test. read more

I went to Chili's tonight and had an excellent experience. Our server, Jonathan, provided outstanding service--he was friendly, attentive, and stayed on top of everything the entire time. We had no complaints at all. The manager, Alex, also came by to check on us and made sure everything was going well, which we really appreciated. Food was terrible. My Philly Steak sandwich had one tiny slice of meat about half the thickness of a napkin. The food was late by more than 30 min after the 40 min wait time. The staff said "we are extremely short staffed . If you want to speak to the manager they will only tell you the same" Spent more than $115 dollars for substandard and poor quality food. I love the food. The wait and having to sign in before you are on a list is really down heartening. For people with little children or elderly family members it's a struggle to go to Chili's, especially when there are no reservations taken. I am about on the verge of trying to stay away from this restaurant a year to see if they change the way they treat clients. Sometimes they turn off the phones(when they are to busy, and sometimes they turn off online ordering as well if they get backed up with orders. The food is great more than 85% of the time. So we arrived and got seated within 1 min flat. Then we were sitting at the table for almost 25mins before a guy comes to take our drinks and order. Another half hour goes by still no food we didn't even order steaks we ordered appetizers. A family came in well after us about 10 mins and within 5mins hot their food and they ordered after us. I live in the area and have seen a consistent decline in service. The place is half empty and yet wait times can be 1/2 hour. On my most recent visit, I ordered a salad and a burger and after another 1/2 hour, no salad or burger. I walked out. This place needs new management. read more

Understaffed and it's slow. One well trained bartender/waiter could handle the 4 people at the bar and 10 tables (only 4 in the bar). No manager on staff apparently, because no one is worried about tables being sat and not talked to until they walk out 30 minutes later. My last trip here ever. Love Chili's everywhere else. Hungry people make poor choices. I didn't have breakfast and here we are at 1:00 driving through little town after little town hoping to find something to eat. Well, Chili's got us as they were the first spot coming in from the North. Overly attentive waitstaff but the food was what we ordered and it was delivered promptly. We went here at 11:30am on a Sunday to watch a World Cup match! We were passing through Espanola and Chili's seemed to be the only place open at that time. when me and my family of 5 sat down we didn't get service for about 20 minutes and when we did we ordered and asked for appetizers and it came about an hour later. the waiter kept bringing us drinks out and when we'd ask about the appetizer he'd say "let me go check on that for you" and would come back saying "unfortunately they didn't see the ticket and they haven't started it" so we were waiting all that time for food that hasn't even been started. to some up the whole entire service it was horrible our food was either cold or tasted old. we were at the restaurant for about a total of 4 hours.. it was annoying and not even worth it. we did get free dessert but still not even worth it. a day after my family ate there we all got sick with stomach issues. id also like to note that a couple of my friends ate there a couple weeks later and told me they also got food poisoning from eating here. will NOT be coming back and hopefully no one else gets food poisoning from this place. read more

I'm one to leave good reviews only but making an exception for other travelers. This restaurant does not want your business. They are understaffed for sure. But the reviews are to be believed. Everyone moving at a snails pace. Quoting incredibly high wait times to send people away, even as the dining area sits about 90% empty. We decided to wait anyway because we were exhausted and hungry, but our 30 minute quote came and went and the host hid in the back rather than address us at all. A few months ago my boyfriend and I ate here together and we posted a review of what happened, but it's listed as "not recommended" so I'm going to write what happened again here. First of all, we had 4-5 different waiters serving us at once, I'm not even kidding. At one point I asked one of these random waiters for a spoon to eat my molten lava cake with, and she came back with a spoon that had a piece of crusty food stuck to it. So I waited for another one of those waiters to come by and asked for a new spoon, she apologized and got me a new one, but it took a while. Terrible place. For my main course I ordered pasta, but it was undercooked and hard. I had a side of garlic bread that tasted bitter and almost soapy, which was also soggy.
