If I can give this place zero stars I would. Not only was the chicken with the fajitas cold, it tasted as if it frozen and then microwaved to defrost. The southwestern soup was mediocre at most. This was one of my go to spots for the Cajun Chicken Pasta but after last night, not only will I not order the Cajun Chicken Pasta... I won't be going back to Chili's! It was the worst food I've had at a sit down service restaurant. I'm not sure if they've made a significant change to the recipe or the cooks are just that incompetent, but it was simply inedible. I've never walked away from a meal where I didn't finish the pasta, but this was a first... My wife also had the same dish and she quit far earlier than I did. I really enjoy going to Chili's, but when I went tonight and tried to order the fajitas without peppers the waitress said "they come mixed with the onions now." So what I get out of this is that if someone is allergic to peppers they can't order the fajitas which isn't how a food establishment should be. I should be able to order my food how I want it. Fort Walton Beach Chili's has always had a special place in my heart, until they went "corporate styling". The food isn't as good as before the conveyor belt cooking started. The atmosphere is a little less "homey" than when there were all unique decor. It's still Chili's, just not the one restaurant everyone I know used to beg for. Kinda like voting, we started looking for the lesser of the evils as restaurants have gone downhill as a whole, but our beloved Chili's is not quite so beloved. I'm usually always pretty meh about Chili's and this location didn't really change my mind. I had their ribeye with broccoli and skillet mashed potatoes. It wasn't like it was a bad meal, but I finished it thinking "I can make this dish better by myself at home". The steak didn't have a particularly great sear on it, broccoli was a bit mushy and overlooked, and the potatoes were fine - a bit salty for my taste. Well... I really like Chili's. For whatever reason I seem to visit one in every town. This one has disappointed me twice. Perhaps if I was a party girl drinking my way through dinner I wouldn't care, but fortunately I am not that girl. Then we see the manager (Paul?) essentially running through the restaurant with our food... to another table. The woman was on her phone and the guy was facebooking, neither was paying attention. They started eating OUR FOOD. The manager came back over and said 'oh im sorry I forgot your extra pico de gallo' to which the gentleman scoffed and said 'NO PICO. NOOOO PICO." It was me who always orders the extra pico, extra extra pico de gallo every time. Another blatant sign that he had delivered them my order. Then the waitress walked into our section and walked out to bitch out manager Paul. Funtimes. 5 minutes later our food showed up, and we watched the manager watch us from afar as I was also delivered my extra pico de gallo. The fajitas again were nasty old greasy tasting, and i spit it out once again. The salad was o.k. So I doubt we will be back. Typical chain place. I came here with my bf relatively late probably around 8pm on a weekday. Not too many people. Waiters were great, friendly and welcoming. Ambiance is decent, I can't see the table next to me and vice versa. We started off with the hot spinach and artichoke dip, comes with chips. It was good and filling, so I'd recommend it. However, probably better for a large party because you'll struggle to eat your whole meal with this creamy appetizer. Once again my bf got the better dish. He ordered chili's signature ribs. He enjoyed the ribs, the meat was nice and tender. Myself, I ordered the quesadilla explosion salad w/o the chicken. It was delicious~ We also got a triple margarita. It was three tiny shots with a different type of margarita. We're not big drinkers, so it tasted good but can't say whether it was bad or good. It tasted refreshing. Each table had some computer thing where you could read the menu and pay for your meal. It was pretty neat. I would give one star but our waitress was good, although she wasn't the most genuinely friendly. She was very efficient. We had a large group, 26, for a birthday party and we called ahead. I've seen this location go through many transformations throughout the years. Doesn't seem to improve. Here it is: the food was horrible. I ordered chili and it tasted like Hormel poured straight from a can. It had no good qualities. I was pleased that the waitress took it off the bill with no hesitation. I also ordered a Tom Collins. It looked like Lemon Kool-aid with no garnishment and I tasted like the bartender had never made one. I understand that it is an older drink and not popular any longer, but it's a pretty fundamental drink, imo. I have ordered wings at least 6 times in the past 3 months through DoorDash and the food has greatly gone down hill. However, The last few times I have gotten a handful of fries that were cold, old and not seasoned, and the wings were old, tough and pitiful. I went to the Chili's in Fort Walton Beach tonight. We have had a pretty bad 2020 (as a lot of us have). In August my Dad passed away, my oldest child was very close to his Grandpa. Tonight he turned 18, we took him to dinner and I told the waitress that it was his birthday in a very sneaky way. She was able to make everything amazing. I'm typically pretty happy with this place... food is usually good (typical chain restaurant foods), service standard and so forth. Their are a couple things that you can generally rely on when you go to a chain... menus are generally broad with a couple items that the specific chain is known for, service is standard with greeting refills and so forth but nothing to write home about. When we arrived this time no host was to be found at the front. Come to find out it's bc he was trying his best to bus tables and help other staff out which is commendable. After he explained it would be a wait we decided to eat in the bar which was about half full with a couple dirty tables. We noticed that the bartender was also in the weeds taking care of the bar top, service bar, all the tables and booths in the bar area, and running her own food. She was actually doing a pretty decent job considering. This is were I started to get a bit upset... I noticed an elderly gentleman walk into the bar by himself and sit at a booth. As we ate our food I watched him look around for a server. After several minutes I could tell he was getting frustrated bc no one greeted him. The back story to this is that I'm aware that he has a lot going on in his personal life and his wife is very ill... I know everyone is fighting a battle that that you may know nothing about. Maybe I wouldn't be writing this if I didn't know this. He proceeded to get up and walk towards the front door. He told the host that they needed some help. Host then explained that they are running behind and kinda just let him walk right out the door. I feel for the host but maybe he should have tried to get a manager involved or encourage the guy to sit back down? Then the bartender came from the back dropped some items off at a table and they explained to her that the elderly gentleman left. She basically laughed it off and explained to them that he is rude and doesn't tip well. I really don't doubt for a second what she is saying. He probably is everything she says. I suppose I just have a bit of compassion being that I know he is his wife's care taker and maybe the only time he gets to himself is going out to eat for a bit. Maybe the reason why she views him as being rude is bc he's mentally struggling to keep it together helping fight for his wife's wellbeing and he cant see past the bubble he's been in all day when he does go out in public. Overall, I just felt bad that this guy came out to eat and not only did they let him walk out they kinda poked fun at it afterwards. I give them credit that it was about 6 on a Wednesday evening and they seemed under staffed for whatever reason. They were doing what they could to please as many people as they could. I ordered Long Island Ice Tea and my son ordered draft beer. I have tasted regular ice tea with more alcohol flavor and kick than those LIITs. My son made a comment about tasting water in the beer, makes one wonder, does it not? They seated us in the bar section of the restaurant with a promise of free chips and dip. When the waiter came to take our order for an appetizer, I did not force the issue, believing the wait staff would catch the mistake (nope, it was our mistake to think such a thing). We ordered the cheese sticks and yes, they were cheesy, if one doesn't mind greasy cheese sticks. Ah well... I figured the person working that station just had a bad moment and the person who should have been minding the quality control station just messed up. Main courses delivered. We wish we had stayed at home and cooked them for ourselves. I can cook a simple steak to order and get it right 3 times out of 10 which would be a stretch for the kitchen staff at this Chilis restaurant. As for my son's entree, it was so un-memorably tasteless that neither of us can recall what he ordered. Then to cap things off, they reminded us that we were still in the "happy hour" time and we ordered more of the same beverages. Silly us, the drinks were just as bad the second time around as the first. The bottom line is, I/we will not be back to this restaurant and I would dissuade anyone from visiting it. If I thought it would do any good, i would forward this review to corporate, but it is clear that those people don't care....
