The staff is so rude! I visited on my birthday because I had a free appetizer coupon. The waitress had an attitude when I presented the coupon...after I purchased an entree, which was not even required for use. The waitress and her "manager" then accused me of already using the coupon. How is this possible when I just received it on the day of my visit? Came in and were sat right away for a party of 8. The food was good everyone enjoyed it. They have 2 specials normally a 10.00 one and a 12.00 one and it's a ton of food. 3 of us on our ticket was less then $50.00 that just doesn't happen much anymore. Usually Sonny's is pretty good. This was the first time getting Friday late night carryout. I think they literally hit the bottom of the barrel with the burnt ends last night. We got a two-meat combo and a sliced turkey sandwich meal. Had about two tablespoons of burnt ends and sausage links. See the photos before we started to eat. Horrible customer service! Multiple people walked right past me. I have one person come to the front, answer the phone and then walked away. I was never greeted or told that someone would be with me. Had to go to the drive thru and the guy wouldn't let me pick up my food through the drive thru. So I had to go back in and finally had someone help me only because I told the guy at the drive thru what happened. Funny enough he was the one that answered the phone and walked away. The service was good but the food was not. I wanted baby back ribs, but was told they didn't have any. This was 45 minutes after they opened. So I ordered regular ribs, brisket and chicken tenders. The ribs were terribly dry and definitely over-cooked with a slathering of bbq sauce. Tasted like leftovers re-heated. The brisket had way too many bone shards in it. The chicken tenders were okay, nothing too special. No complaints on the sides of beans, cole slaw and garlic bread. I have eaten here before and enjoyed it. Whoever is in charge of provisioning the restaurant needs to pay closer attention. read more

My husband went thru the drive thru and placed our order. There is very little around here I can eat because I am on a restricted diet under doctor's orders. He had to wait almost an hour to get our order and then he was told they had no potato salad. In addition they did not give him any pickles and gave him 2 turkey sandwiches instead of the turkey sandwich and pulled pork sandwich he ordered. And the potato salad was the main thing I wanted. Just went there because my fiance wanted some of their wings. Was told they would be with us in a minute and it took forever for them to seat us. Then our waitress lacked in customer service skills so I went and told her to cancel our order I would just go through drive-thru and order him some wings when I pull around to the drive-thru a guy was standing back there to inform me that they refuse to serve me claiming I cussed his employees. Not one cuss word came out of my mouth and said he was going to call the cops and have me trespassed I told him to go ahead and then I pulled into a parking spot and called the cops myself. The cop told me that he wasn't going to have me trespassed if I left on my own I told her I would because I didn't want him to contaminate my food. Like I said I never cussed anyone in there. And they don't have to worry about me ever going back there again. read more

This was my first time dining at this chain. The service was top notch. The food was decent.

I went through the drive through line on 12/28/23 at 11am. I ordered a pull pork and fully loaded tots by 1 pm I was throwing up due to food poisoning. I called the store the manager hit me with you know it's frozen right. I'm a meat cutter for living so I know all about temperature so even if it was frozen cooked product needs to sit at 145 degrees and non cooked at 40 or below. I ate nothing else that day and been having a hard time keeping anything down. I will be coming into the store today to get full refund. Health department has been informed. Update went to store to get refund got refunded but also the manager proceeded to try to teach me how food poisoning happens by telling me it takes 48hr for food poisoning I stopped him said actually no it can happen within 1-2hr after. What management you hiring. He said I take it serious but can't even get his facts straight. read more

Used to be one of our go to places for good food at a decent price. Now I am forced to say if ya want service or food in a reasonable amount of time, go somewhere else. This is my 1st ever 1 star rating for anywhere! The last 3 or 4 times we have gone to Sonnys, it took an unacceptable time for our order to be taken and for food to be served. I'm a former waitress, I know food service. Today there were less than 20 customers and at least 3 waitresses I waited 8-10 min of being ignored before I went and got menus for our table and then another 4 or 5 min of being ignored before deciding that even though we were very hungry, we needed to give up eating at Sonnys and go somewhere else. When I got up front to the cash register, a waitress was there counting her tips. .. This experience saddened me and upset my son. There was no reason for it except poor staff management. read more

If this Review doesn't get attention to Regional Management, then good luck bringing back reputation for an "Award Winning" BBQ if it doesn't come with Quality Service to go along with it. For this reason, I would not recommend this location even if they have renovated. Food is one part of a good review. My sides were just as unimpressive, small portioned sides of mushy Mac n cheese & mediocre baked beans. Even the texas toast was stale lol. Lastly sorry to say the staff was not very friendly when getting my carry out order. And asking for my drink that they forgot seemed to put him out. Fantastic first time visit. The moment my husband and I walked in Alicia (our server) greeted us and sat us in her section. Alicia was AWESOME! She was super helpful. She recommended the best way to sample a variety of Sonny's BBQ. We settled on a sampler meal and paid a little extra to bump up our sides to the corn nuggets/fritters and fried okra. The hands down winner: The baby back ribs!!! OMG sooooo DELICIOUS! The brisket, pulled pork and chicken were good, but the ribs were stellar! We also really enjoyed the fried okra which was breaded in a way that kept the okra moist and yummy. I also really liked the corn fritter-things. We most definitely plan to go back. Sonny's is your standard chain BBQ restaurant with locations throughout the southeast United States -- but mostly concentrated in Florida. I'm from Texas where most of the barbecue rubs and sauces are savory instead of sweet, but Sonny's sauces seem to be exceptionally sweet -- basically like karo syrup flavored with mustard and liquid smoke. I wasn't a fan of the sauces. My brisket was moist and warm. There wasn't any smoked flavor to speak of -- it was almost like it had been cooked in an oven. The green beans were nice and flavorful and the cornbread was moist and slightly sweet. The coleslaw was standard coleslaw -- nothing really stood out about it. Service was excellent. My waitress was very friendly and kept my iced tea filled. I probably won't visit a Sonny's BBQ again if this is typical of their food -- unless I'm in need of a low-carb meal. read more
