Tonight I had dinner at Chilies with my family and we were lucky enough to have Morgan as our server. She was busy cleaning large tables and taking care of several customers, but still took awesome care of us. Every request she fulfilled promptly and happily. In fact, everyone who played a part in our meal was prompt and made the experience better. My strawberry margarita was delicious and our meals left each of us full. Today we had a group of about 8 people come here for lunch. I used to work in the restaurant industry at multiple locations and currently work in the customer service industry. This was the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. First thing when we walked in we hear the staff making comments about the short staff and us having a big group. This should have been our get the hell out of dodge warning. We sit down order drinks. 3 of our drinks come out with shit floating around in the cups. Food comes out cold, overcooked, undercooked, and old seeming. Tbh.... I'm just here for the Honey-Chipotle Chicken Crispers. They are addictive. Wifey material! That's really all that I ever get here. I've probably got them the last 10 times I've been to Chili's. Well, technically, last time, they had the new Honey-Chipotle Crispers & Waffles. Chicken & Waffles is literally one of my favorite creations of mankind so I had to try it. I've never had anything quite like it. Super sweet, delicious Belgian waffles, topped with Honey-Chipotle Crispers, bacon, jalapenos, and drizzled with ancho-chile ranch. Also includes fries! It was amazing. I don't regret it one bit, but next time I think I'll stick to the classic Honey-Chipotle Crispers. I missed the larger portion of chicken and my corn on the cob. Be warned: These things do pack a punch! After eating a couple the heat will start getting to you. There were seven in my party this evening. It took over an hour to get our meal. We had to find our server and ask for refills on our soft drinks. Two in our party did not get what they had ordered and one received her fajitas actually cold and inedible. We were then overcharged on all of our meals and when we went to the manager he said he was sorry, the server had Only been there for a couple of weeks. Our food was left uneaten on the table. This is the second time in a row we have been there and received horrible service/food. They even changed the channel of the TV my husband was facing so he could watch his NFL game. Been here many times so it was sort of odd to walk in and find no one is watching the door. Stood there for four minutes, there wasn't even any one at the bar. But before we walked out one of the waitresses spotted us. Jill quickly sat us and did everything she could to please us. The quality of their meals are up to their usual standards. The Salmon is very good, cooked well. Mixing the guacamole at the table is pretty cool. Love the chips. The thing I have reservations about is this wireless system they have at all the tables. It's been a long time since we've been to this Chili's and tonight I was reminded why. Service was slow and waiter was very forgetful. We had to ask him to refill drinks several times. He rarely checked in on us and when he did he was unorganized. One of our party ordered a medium steak and it came out rare. I had the chicken fajitas and the chicken was good but the veggies weren't cooked and still crispy. The rice on the skillet was burned on the bottom. Things have gone down hill at the Layton location. Cleanliness and consistent food quality have diminished recently. We once went in here every week or two, now we are patronizing every month or two and if it continues like it has for the last couple visits we may not return. My girlfriend and her friend (both Asian) went to the chili's in layton after they got off from working at another restaurant. When they walked into the lobby there were other people waiting. The other people were seated and the waiter cleared a table for my friends. They asked if they could have a booth, they were very tired from working. The waiter said ok, but you need to wait outside. Chili's used to be one of our favorite places. Now it's a default setting when we're looking for a place for a late dinner. Our server was very attentive. That covers the highlights. Their chips are gritty with salt. Their Diet Coke was flat. No carbonation at all. Seriously folks! Even McDonalds knows how to mix Diet Coke correctly. My wife had a burger. Either that cow died from OD'ing on the salt lick, or the cooks at Chilis are dumping salt on those burgers. I had the fajitas. The shrimp was excellent, but the beef was so chewy that I couldn't bite through it in the tortilla. They give you a tiny little cup with 15 cheese shavings. USE THEM WISELY! Well, I almost feel bad giving Chili's a cranky review because it's sorta like writing a review of McDonald's. What's the point? First of all, our waitress was nice and friendly although I never got my drink refilled. All the staff were very friendly really, so the service was ok for a bunch of millennials. But our table was really sticky all over it and had some dried food or red sauce stuck to the top of it. We had them wipe the table down again and they were apologetic and very kindly cleaned it again. I think the main issue was that the food just wasn't very good. I ordered the smokehouse sampler. The bbq chicken tasted weird, not like chicken. The sausage was ok but the cheese in it made it a little bit too rich. The ribs were a little cold and dry and the house bbq sauce wasn't too great. The corn on the cob was so caked in seasoning and salt I couldn't taste it until I scraped it all off. The fries were decent as well as the garlic toast. I suppose most people go to Chili's because they make that 1 thing really well that they like and so they only go for that thing. I just don't think I'll ever be back to find out what that 1 thing is for me. read more

Server was great. In a Covid world you'd expect some sort of cleanliness; our table was dirty and the floor around our table was covered in kids menus, crayons and food debris. We waited 15 minutes for a dirty table. We overheard a server apologizing for another table's dirty table, messes were everywhere. We had to request new silverware when the ones we were given all had chunks of dood on all six sets. We went here because we had a party of seven but were disappointed with the entire atmosphere. We got put on the wait list anyways kept checking and it said we were 1st in line and 2 minutes before check in time, we walked in figured we could wait as we had 2 kids under 3 with us, the hostess very rudely told us we HAD to wait out in the cold we tried to explain we were first in line and at this time 1 minute away from check in, the response we got was oh well you CAN NOT wait in here and there is absolutely NO room to seat you despite all the open tables that were empty and could clearly have guest sitting at them. I've been to this location a few times and it has been good. My last visit was for a retirement lunch for a colleague. We had about 30 people in our party and the service was top notch. I thought we would be for 1.5 to 2 hours but we had our order in and food within 35 minutes. Drinks were always full and chips were brought out when we wanted. This location is really good for large parties. Our table ordered the chips and queso and we all loved them. You cannot go wrong with that appetizer at Chili's. My main course was the Chicken Lunch Fajitas. It is a mini version of their fajitas, which comes with peppers, onions, and chicken along with sour cream, cheese, and salsa with 2 flour tortillas. There was enough of everything I could have used 1 or 2 more tortillas. All my colleagues liked their dishes as well. Our server was great as well. No complaints. read more

Unfortunately I went against my better judgement and stopped for lunch. It's a really dirty location. Our table had crumbs on it when we sat down. The first glass they brought with my iced tea in it had thick crusty brown stuff smeared up the side. (Don't know what it was or how they missed seeing it before delivering it to the table...) so the server swapped it out for a dirty looking glass but without the brown stuff, so I guess that was an improvement. The server was nice but got my order mixed up, or maybe the kitchen did but she had to take it back to have it fixed. The loaded mashed potatoes I got as my side were just slopped in a pile on the paper next to my sandwich as opposed to in a small dish or something. Just seemed weird and unappetizing.... And then by the time I left there, got groceries and went home I was on the toilet with extreme cramps and diarrhea. Actually I'm here now.... writing this review. As embarrassing as that is to admit, this location should be embarrassed.... I paid $40 for two people just to get food poisoning. I definitely won't be making that mistake again. Went here on a trip and had a bad experience. It wasn't too crowded, but we were sat at the back and the floor and table were dirty and littered with trash. The customer service was extremely poor: I asked what was on the slider appetizers, wondering if there was dressing/cheese, but the waitress didn't actually know most of the toppings and told me an incorrect list. I ended up getting burgers with cheese on them (she forgot to mention there was cheese), and tried to ask for new burgers, but the waitress never even came by. She never came by to ask if our food was ok, and never noticed all of our uneaten food. We also ordered a salad to go but had to literally go to the kitchen and ask for it since they never brought it and a waiter never came by. I always enjoy this location, even if the alcohol deals aren't available because Utah sucks when it comes to alcohol laws. The customer service here is great though and as usual, Chili's always has great tasting food for reasonable prices. I don't normally post reviews but I was pretty disappointed with my experience. I called to make a pick up order around 7pm and within a few minutes someone answered. I was then put on hold but then they never picked up the phone again. I hung up and tried calling again but was left on hold again. I spent roughly 40 minutes on hold and decided to finally order online. When I got home to eat my food, our sauces were messy and not even half full! After discussing it, we determined that the only common item that we ate was the salsa. What you do to salsa that turns it into a piqcante laxative is beyond me, but they found a way. We checked into our parking spot and waited. 15 minutes passed with two kids under five crying. I tried calling to check the status and sat on hold. I finally decided to walk inside. Man, I used to be a HUGE fan of Chilis. Like when I was 18. I went there more times than I could count. I usually got the Chicken Ceasar pita wrap. It was yummy. Once upon a time I liked their chips. We went back tonight. It's been a year or so since the last trip. I like their skillet queso. I just cannot reproduce the taste of it and I like it. But the chips.... Greasy Salty cardboard. Super thin crunchy cardboard. I asked my husband if they had gotten worse over the years and he said they tasted exactly same as they always had. Hmmm. Evidently my tastebuds have grown up. They do have REALLY good ribs. The Shiner Bock is yummy. Smoky, slightly sweet, but with a good kick. Nice and tender, fall off the bone. I tried a new dish on the menu this trip. Chicken Club quesadillas. They were actually pretty good. They had chicken, bacon, guac, sour cream, pico, lettuce and ranch dressing. Like a club sandwich quesadilla style. And of course lets not forget the molten chocolate cake. That monster volcano of chocolate and ice cream. It is still probably my favorite molten cake, though Olive Garden and Applebees aren't bad either. But... It still just doesn't have the appeal it once did. The chips suck. I see that now. Some of the other dishes (Club tacos) suck. Even the queso and molten cake won't get me back in here maybe more than once every other year or so. The life has fizzled out of the party. read more
