This place needs to be closed down. Went in tonight Saturday and I was SHOCKED to see the state of this restaurant! I use the term restaurant but what I saw was nothing like any restaurant I've ever been in. There was at least 12 tables full of filthy dishes and old food. The hostess was sitting in a booth and called me over from the hostess stand. She said she was "working " from the booth and not the stand because she was exhausted. OMG. The whole place was nasty. The health department needs to seriously look into the state of this establishment because all kinds of health codes were in violation I'm sure. Disgusting!! I don't even know where to start because I am so disappointed! First let me say that Chili's is one of my favorite chain restaurants but after this visit I don't know anymore. This location needs to be shut down and given a major deep cleaning! The only good thing that I can say is that our waitress was very nice despite that she was the only waitress in the whole restaurant besides the bartender! If I could give 0 stars I would. No staff. Had to wait for a table to be bussed as they were at about 25% capacity with everyone crammed into the small side. There was a waitress sleeping on a table in the closed side right in front of the door. Not a good look when you have to wait for a table in a restaurant a low capacity. After our table was bussed, the went back to standing around and didn't bother to clean the next table. Waitress never came after several minutes. We were never offered a drink. We got up and left. There were maybe.. 5 groups in there and one waiting to be sat, 2 were at the bar. Nobody was at the host stand so we went and sat at the bar. There were two bartenders and one of them asked if I waited in line to sit there. I didn't know I had to wait to be sat at the bar I had never had to wait to be seated at a bar with open seats. I've been a bartender for 6 years and this was crazy to me that two people couldn't handle 4 people sitting at the bar. She said it's a 45 minute wait and I had to go check in with the host. Waited a minute for the host and she said it's 45 min wait. I said I'd rather sit at the bar than a booth and she said I can't cut in line in front of anyone. I went here on a Friday night at about 9 pm with my coworker/friend and it was completely dead, there was almost no one eating there. Surprising for a Friday night we both thought, but we both wanted Chili's so we gave it a chance. The host who was VERY new seated us way in the corner in a weird spot that was freezing! A couple came in and got seated a few seats away from us and complained of the same thing, she said she couldn't move them because the other sections weren't open and the server was new, even though nobody was there! Eventually they got moved though but we stuck it out. It took 20 minutes for our server to come (and my friend asking when she'd be at our table) before we ordered the most mediocre food I've had in a while. My friend ordered the Classic Nachos which were supposed to have beef, but didn't look like they had any meat on them at all, just beans and cheese almost burned onto each nacho in a circle around the plate. She also ordered a ranch burger that came with next to no ranch, and I ended up giving her a dipping cup of ranch from my Triple Dipper to pour over it! They also forget to put the tomatoes on it she requested. As for the Triple Dipper, it was good, but the fried pickles could've been hotter, they were room temperature by the time they got to me. By the end of it all, my friend still wanted to order the spinach dip and nachos to go to have for the next day, and she later told me that was a mistake too. The dip had a huge clump of something in the bottom. It also seemed that there was no manager on duty at all, because while we were eating the teenagers that worked there were laughing, giggling, talking, walking around and sitting in different booths, and it didn't seem like they wanted to do their jobs. I was at the grand opening of this Livonia location in 2008 with many fond experiences over the many years. I've also had great experiences at other area Chili's but sadly, the Livonia location has had a steady decline in all aspects over the past 2 years. The servers appear to lack any basic experience and/or customer service concern. The service is extraordinarily slow, the management is invisible and the food quality is poor. My comment is not made from a one time negative occurrence but from a half dozen repeated negative visits. I now dine at the Chili's on Haggarty Rd where the service and overall experience is always stellar. Is this a franchise or corporate location in Livonia? I came to chilis because I went to apple bees to have a cocktail and do some home work. After being turned away by staff at apple bees I was a bit discouraged. When I arrived to chilis every staff member treated me so kindly and respectfully. I was severed by the awesome bar tender Kelly. I left the building full and smiling. Excelent staff and yummy food. This place has gradually gone down hill since it opened. There's never a wait at lunch, but somehow it takes over 20 minutes to get your food. Service is very slow and inattentive. I highly suggest sitting at the bar especially if it's only 2 or 3 people, then you wouldn't have to wait to be seated. Service at the bar was tend bit slow but as long as you start with appretizer, then you shouldn't notice it. I've been coming for years at multiple locations this was by far my worst experience. I ordered carry out upon arrival and checking in was told problem with my order no burger buns. I changed order and was advised would cost extra rather than argue figured no problem gave her my credit card. She came back asked if I had provided my card I replied yes. She came back 10K nurse later and explained she had given my credit card to another customer allegedly they called customer to return card they didn't and used my card elsewhere. After 45 minute wait I received cold food and nothing more than an apology and advice to call card company to cancel the card. I hate even writing this review since we've had better experiences here before, but what we witnessed tonight really isn't acceptable. We ordered black bean burgers which came out covered in bacon. Veggie friends, here's where things got gross. We told them we didn't order black bean burgers with bacon on them, so the waitress took them back. 30 seconds later, she brings the same burgers out with the bacon peeled off (for the most part.) When asked if they just peeled the bacon off, she said yes. Gross. We told her we are vegetarians and don't go for having meat on our food at all. She took them back just to return with (probably the same) burgers with bacon on them. Great. Third time is most definitely not the charm. I dissected mine and could not find any bacon on it, so I ate half anyway. My boyfriend ended up sending his back after finding bacon still in it. Apparently there is a lack of respect for people with different dietary restrictions here, so if you're veg, be very careful and check your food. Update: I contacted corporate last week and have yet to have a response. One star it is. read more
