Nanuet, NY - ahh Chili's, the ol' reliable standby, and the place we default to when either nobody or everybody has a strong opinion on where to eat, forcing a (Tex-)Mexican standoff where we end up somewhere middlin' and populist. Combined with a gift card or two to burn, resistance is futile. The fare's an ever popular American bar-and-grill classics meets Tex-Mex inspired favorites, a formula so thoroughly focus group-tested that it has achieved something of a universal palatability, with choices that please the whole family from young to old and across demographics, and somehow still delivers value in this overpriced economy. The Nanuet location is always busy and the parking lot's pretty full on weekends, but I've always been impressed with the operational efficiency every time we've gone. The wait is never onerous, service is cheerful and brisk, food arrives hot, and nothing comes out tragically wrong. My go-tos are the wings, appetizers, chicken crispers, fajitas, and pastas. I'm pickier re: steak and burgers so I check my expectations at the door of establishments that aren't deeply committed to beef (which is to say, I haven't deliberately ordered those items and don't have an opinion to offer, though my fam likes it just fine), but it's hard to go wrong with chicken. I will also eat your ribs if offered a taste. Chances are you've been to a Chili's before and know exactly what to expect - and sometimes that's the whole comforting point. One of the few restaurant chains that make a consistent tasty burger. It becoming a lunchtime ritual when I want a burger. The good thing that we all need a a great deal. The 3 for me deal is affordable and an my opinion a better option than your fast food joints. I usually get a server named PUG. He is super nice and attentive with one of the best attitudes I have experienced in a server. He always checks on you and makes sure you always have what you want. I get 3 for me with a coffee, water, chicken enchilada soup the QP burger and fries. It's consistently cooked to perfection. All under 12 bucks. A great deal. I freely admit to eating at every slop and drop restaurant chain when I called Nanuet home and Fleetwood Mac weren't great grandparents. Chili's would have been right up my alley -- offering a decent, low cost waystation featuring dinner of the Rorschach variety and drinks whose vaguely Mexican origins would make the "Frito Bandito" seem authentic. I have been here twice, and each visit offered fresh food with very enjoyable flavors. The dishes were prepared well, although they were oily. During my second visit, I experienced an issue where a bug appeared at my table shortly after I sat down. I asked the server for a different table, and her response gave the impression that she was hesitant to accommodate the request. I went with my parents and siblings after church, it was around 6:00pm on a Saturday. Seemed like a popular place to go after church because it was filled and while we were for our table more people from church were arriving. We did wait for our table for about 10 minutes, but it's not really the restaurants fault, there were just a bunch of people. Also, service was fast, our server was really nice and helpful with everything. At the beginning there was a random server that just left some chips and salsa on our table and left before we can ask something about it. I suppose many people eat later than they do back in our hometown in Florida where the average age is a bit higher. Still, we were seated right away and given menus. But once we got connected, the rest of the visit went well. I decided on their Mushroom Swiss Burger, one of their Big Mouth Burger offerings that I believe are a half pound. We got our orders placed and it wasn't long before we had our food. The burger was indeed large, they did a pretty good job. It came with a container of good fries. Our server stopped by once we had our food to ask if we needed anything. It wasn't until the end of our meal before our server stopped by again to inquire whether we needed a box. What I needed was a drink refill, which I finally got. Thinking back, I wonder if I could have gotten one by using the tablet on our table. Each table has one where you can not only play games for a couple of bucks but can also pay your bill. The tablet, used by all Chili restaurants, is convenient for paying and leaving without waiting, but does take away some of the human contact with your server. A tradeoff. 5 stars for you chilis !! Not because you're a 5 star restaurant like some fancy steak house but because you never disappoint !! Chilis is like the staple of what a successful commercial restaurant should be. The location in Nanuet Ny is by far my favorite one . The manager there has been there for a few years and every time we go there he comes over to the table to say hello and talk for a few minutes .. This place is always busy and it's not just because of it being chilis it's because that man has turned that location into one of the best Chilis there is !! Wether you get the Fajitas , a burger or that triple dipper appetizer with the boneless wings ,southwestern egg rolls and big mouth bites or whatever combination you choose !! You'll never leave here upset or hungry .. and idk what they put in that soda over there but if you know how Wendy's soda feels like it's made from A different planet it's so good, Chilis is right there smuggling that same soda !! read more

It could be that we're just not that hungry... but somehow I think that we wouldn't really be head over heels for this place even if we were starving. I've definitely had worse food, worse service. It's got lime to preserve freshness (I don't like lime in guac), and there was a full slice of avocado at the bottom that wasn't crushed at all. It was ok. My wife got the caesar salad that was swimming in dressing... they charged $1 extra for a few slices of avocado, which is understandable, though I would have given her the slice from my limey guac if I hadn't found it later on, all the way at the bottom. I got the White Spinach Queso appetizer for my brother, who devours everything that you could put in from of him. He left about 75% of it sitting there. They plopped a little ball of guac in the middle of it. Man... if this is how Mexican food was actually served in Mexico, birthday would even go there. The baby back ribs were pretty good. Buffalo wings were to my brother's liking. The waitress thought I said "boneless" but I had actually asked for "Bone-in." Fortunately, my bro has just discovered that he prefers them boneless! The frozen margaritas were 2-for-1, and both are served immediately, which is not a great thing for drinks that can melt. I'd say that the place could take a little more pride in the food quality. We were seated in middle of the walkway. we had ask to sit in the table next to us because there was no body on either the table was to small and only seated 4. There aren't many Chilis in the lower or mid Westchester County area and the closest are over the bridge in Rockland. I used to go to the location in the Palisades Mall but it got way too crazy on weekends with no parking, 30 minute or more wait times, and a constant rotation of waiters. Started going to the Nanuet location a few years ago and never looked back. This is a well managed location with many good servers who have been there for awhile. Review your bill carefully!! Came here on a weekday afternoon with 3 children. As soon as we got there, there was no hostess and took about 10 minutes before someone sat as down. Our waiter was very nice and friendly. Food is mediocre. I'm not a big fan of chain restaurants since most of the food is frozen, fried and just downright unhealthy. Anyways when the bill came, I couldn't help but notice that there was a "table entertainment" charge for $1.99! What the heck! Then I realized it's for the tablets that they have on the tables! 2nd time in a row - worse meal EVER. Who can ruin Cole slaw by using too much PEPPER? Guac was horrific too. WAY over spiced to the point it was inedible. I understand the current regulations on dining but Chili's goes too far. We have been to many restaurants in the past few months and none spaced customers so far apart. After at least 5 minutes during which time numerous employees walked by as if we weren't there, we were told 15-20 minutes. All but one of the bar tables were empty but we couldn't even wait there. After waiting about 5 minutes in the vestibule the greeter told us we had to go outside. She acted as if we were morons for not knowing that.
