By now you could call us regular customers at our neighborhood CHILI's. This evening Daniel waited on us at one of the tables in the bar. My husband wanted to watch the NBA playoffs and I don't really care for the small tables. The restaurant was busy and that's all that was available. No problem we sat in the bar before. My husband ordered the ribs and brisket combo. He never did get to taste the brisket, I stole it. Ooops..... in return he got my chicken from the Beef/chicken/shrimp fajitas. We made a few special requests and substitutions and Daniel was super helpful. We asked questions and he knows his menu well! He was very patient, friendly and professional. We were deciding between Applebee's and Chili's. My sister (local to the area) wanted Chili's. Hubby and I (Southern California) wanted Applebee's. Nothing beats Applebee's late night happy hour! We came to this Applebee's and WOW!!!! We should have: A- heeded the reviews B- listened to my sister from the start We arrived around 9:30PM and when we walked up, there were a few people waiting to be seated. We were confused as to why they were waiting because there were so many tables available throughout the restaurant. We stood at the hostess podium for about 5 minutes then were approached by the hostess- Theresa. I say approached instead of greeted because it was just a "how many?" No welcome, no hi, just "how many?" When I replied three, Theresa tells us there is an hour and a half wait to be seated! This restaurant closes at midnight. If at 9:30 there is an hour and a half wait time, why even seat anymore guests? I looked around and asked Theresa why there is a long wait time when there are so many empty tables. She replied " we just sat 60+ people and there is a party of 20 waiting to be seated. The three of us are still perplexed because the tables which were empty are scattered throughout the restaurant and it's just the three of us. We decided to leave as it was apparent this Applebee's did not want our business. I called the restaurant later to speak to a manager for clarification and was told for a party of three he definitely had seating and to please come back. We declined and ultimately ate at Chili's. Best choice ever. Service at Chili's was outstanding! Food at Chili's was great! Atmosphere at Chili's was awesome! I have had dinner here several times over the years, but typically stay away because service has always been sub-par. Chilis is alright if you're very hungry or hungover and need to eat. Food is ok, kind of simple and plain. Drinks aren't that strong too. Theres nothing on this menu that you can't get a better quality of at a better place. There's always a wait. Even when half the restaurant is empty. My boyfriend and I were in the area to visit my parents, but we had planned on going first to a particular restaurant that turned out to be closed on Sundays. Disappointed, we found ourselves (as we often do), searching for another restaurant to eat at. As the neon lights of the Chili's sign appeared on our horizon, my hunger pangs increased, urging me to drive directly to those beckoning lights. After parking and entering the doors, welcoming smiles greeted us. The place was pretty busy, but they found us a booth for two near the kitchen. As we perused the extensive and mouth watering selections of the beautifully illustrated menus, I couldn't help but realize we were probably sitting at the worst table in the restaurant. Wait staff were busily coming and going, communication between the employees were a constant distraction, and the sounds of food preparation could easily be heard from the kitchen. As I focused my attention to the menu, our pleasant waitress stopped by to answer questions about the food and if they could do special requests. I was excited to see that Chili's offers a "$20.00 Dinner For Two" section that even includes "Lighter Choices" that are under 675 calories. I ordered the Mango-Chile Tilapia that came with steamed broccoli and rice while my boyfriend chose the Grilled Chicken Salad. My Tilapia was excellent, topped with house-made pico de gallo, avocado, mango vinaigrette and mango salsa. Part of the dinner for two was our choice of delicious looking appetizers. Since my boyfriend has to stay on a strict low sodium diet we settled on having chips and guacamole dip. The waitress special ordered our chips and dip to be made fresh without salt added. The guacamole was really good with chunks of avocado, corn and jalapenos. It was so thick that my chips kept breaking up during the dipping process. This didn't deter me though, as I started spooning the dip onto the chips. Despite our less than relaxing dinner location by the kitchen, the good food and friendly staff made up for the minor annoyance. And I can't forget to mention my Tropical Sunrise Margarita which helped to improve the evening immensely! Never again! Well, we'll see because they have a variety of food on the menu that I would like to try out. For this experience, I'm giving this place 1 star. I ordered the $6.00 lunch combo meal (5 Cheese Pizza and House Salad). The food was good, but the service was slow. There was no host/hostess when I arrived and had to wait for a while before being greeted and seated at a table. Further, the server took a while before acknowledging my presence. I arrived after 1:00 p.m. thinking it would not take too much time from my lunch hour. Big mistake!!!! The food arrived about 30 minutes after I placed my order. I understand that pizza might take a while longer to cook, but a salad does not take long to prepare. I have ordered to go in the past about six years ago to reward my employees, and service then was slow at pick up. The biggest issue for me is hygiene and food safety. I don't want to consume other people's issues. We're humans and we itch here and there, but I would like to know if the servers wash their hands after cleaning up after customers and if they wash their hands after scratching themselves on their nose or body part. My server, in particular, scratched her nose and another body part. It's a natural reaction for all of us when we're irritated, but I wondered whether the server washed her hands before bringing my order to the table. You know you're old when you cringe at the mention of Chili's because it takes you back to your college days when you eat dinner past midnight or you come back from clubbing and this was your gourmet hangover food. Haha, oops. Well, this is one of the few places near our house that offers the restaurant experience. Also, we got a giftcard to kill. The main entrance was poorly placed on the side where you have to walk all the way around from the parking lot. We stood at the seating podium for a good few minutes before a waiter noticed us. Yes, a waiter and not the seating hostess. He tried to find the hostess but she was nowhere to be found. What? Where could she have gone? That was weird, but at least someone pitched in and seated us. Our waitress was very good. She was knowledgeable about the food and attentive. She made eating the crappy food bearable. Seriously though, you can have a fancy looking place and friendly workers, but at the end of the day if your food tastes horrible people are not gonna come back. One of my problems with Chili's is that the food is SALTY and cooked to the melting point. All the texture is like melted cheese. Nothing is crispy where is should be crispy. Gross. We were in the area over the weekend, and came here twice for lunch (not a lot of options close to the hotel). first time was great service, second time was just ok. chili's has re-done all their locations so they look the same. wow, it's creepy! i walked in and it looked EXACTLY like the one i go to in santa clara. super weird to me. food: it was all good. burger was tasty. good chips and salsa. soup and salads are good too. i got a fiesta salad, but i don't dig the spicy stuff, so they did plain grilled chicken for me. really good. read more

3 stars because the service here is always a hit or miss. I used to love coming to Chilis because they always have some great deals and I would come here often with my family. The last 2 recent visits, service here was slow and sucky. Our waitress barely checked up on us and it took foreverrrrrrrrrr for her to finally come to our table after being seated for 15 mins already. The small kiosk they have at the table also sucks because you can't log into your account until AFTER an order is placed which is dumb because if you have points you want to use, you can't see how many you have to see which dish can qualify for it. Now on to the food. I've never had any problems with the food here. It's pretty decent and good. They always have a deal where you can get an appetizer and 2 entrees for $22 and sometimes they have specials where you can get a salad, entree, and dessert for only $10! What a steal. I don't know what they put on that guacamole but its too damn good! Love the thin chips and the salsa as well. We ordered the fajitas and the mango chile tilapia. The rice that comes with it is too small to share so we got a side order of rice. The service is awesome! Cameron made sure everything's good and he's full of energy and he seems so happy, he taught us how to pay using the tablet like machine in our table which I think is really cool. Jeb provides stellar service and really helped us decide what was best to pair with our 22oz of coors light. this establishment is my go-to when trying desperately to shed the weight of my first world problems and really connect with my most zen side. I usually like this chili's. Tonight we ordered food for my boyfriends birthday dinner and I've never been so disappointed in a meal. We both got the rib eye which is usually pretty good. They both came covered in gristle. No edible fat on the whole thing. Tough meat even though medium rare. It was a light brown color on the outside. I swear it wasn't even rib eye. I did receive a quick response to my complaint about Chili's. As I stated in my initial complaint, after driving all the way to Chili's, they would not sell me a simple single serving of Honey Chipotle sauce, as they had so many times in the past. The response I received from Chili's Guest Engagement Team stated that "We checked with the Director of Operations for our Rancho Cordova Chili's and he indicated the restaurant does sell a 4 ounce side of the Honey Chipotle sauce for $2.71." So I guess that resolves it. I went there, they refused to sell me the sauce for unknown reasons, since they do sell it. The Honey Chipotle sauce is very tasty. I haven't eaten at Chili's in well over a year but tonight my Husband suggested it because he didn't want to drive far to get dinner and Lord knows we weren't cooking a thing! Anyway, I ordered online which was easy. We got the 2 for $25 which includes 1 appetizer, 2 full entrees and a dessert. We got fried pickles for our appetizer, I got the 6oz sirloin, loaded mash potatoes and corn on the cob. My Hubby got the half rack ribs, loaded mash potatoes and corn on the cob. I'll start by saying that my Husband is NOT picky and rarely ever complains about his food cause he just settles so when he told me that he didn't like his ribs cause they were hard and overcooked then I knew it must be bad lol He said the mash potatoes were ok and his corn was good. Now on to my meal, my steak was not good at all. I know sirloin isn't the greatest and usually if I'm getting steak at a Restaurant, I would get Ribeye but we were getting the 2 for $25 so that obviously wasn't an option lol The sirloin was flavorless and it was super chewy and cold. The cold part I really don't understand cause we arrived before it was even ready so it's not like our food was just sitting there (unless it was) and we literally live right across the street and got home in literally 1 minute so it couldn't have gotten cold on the way home. As for my other stuff, my mash potatoes were luke warm and my corn was also chewy. Honestly, the fried pickles were the best part! They were hot and crispy. This is the 3rd time ordering from them for pickup or door dash and something is always missing. Twice i have ordered the lunch special chicken fajitas and both times the tortillas were missing(today being the most recent). Once my friend ordered a salad, on the same order as me, and when we got it, their dressing was missing and some of the extra items they paid for. Probably wont be ordering from them anymore. Been here only once because the last time I was here, they locked their doors BEFORE their posted closing time. Anyways on this visit earlier, I had placed an order with ample time before closing, around 9:20pm and the doors were locked when I arrived at 10:10pm. After walking to both entrances and trying the doors twice, I had my boyfriend show the order confirmation, which showed that our order would be ready by 10:07pm. The worker who looked through the window said no and went to the back. I had to call to be let in and the worker who saw us in was also at a loss to why we weren't allowed in. We had a horrible time there was a table with 3 kids that were screaming ,yelling & running the 2 ladies with them never asked them to calm down or to sit down nor did any of the staff. I was greeted by a really nice girl who asked me if I wanted to sit in the bar area ( hmmm wonder why?), anyway, I was seated quickly at a table, drink order taken and iced tea delivered within 2 minutes! I promptly ordered the "Burger Bites" minus the cheese ( Yuky cheese!), atmosphere was laid back sports bar feel, TV's showing every sports game possible, day time boozers sitting at the bar arguing about sports stuff, over all a nice place! Today I had a very bad experience with a employee in front of the chili's handing out orders. I have never had any bad experiences but one girl in particular always treats me unfairly. She also talks very rudely and sometimes she doesn't even talk to customers. I get to the chili's first and my order is already ready but she hands other customers that had came in quite a while after me, their orders. I waited and waited and finally she handed me my order. And flavor actually is still on my taste buds. Door dash delivered 2 minutes early too. I'm very critical of food service and quality but Chilis is dialed in right now. I show up and the women helping at the take out counter says the offer was only good for dine-in. I showed her the text and no where did it say dine-in. The Manager was also not willing to honor the deal. I left paying full price. The only reason I ordered this meal was because of the timely offer. One of the worst experiences as a customer. Chili's is somewhere I usually go when I'm craving southwestern eggrolls and a beer. Specifically this location. It's pretty convenient. I live in El Dorado Hills but all my friends are in Sacramento so it's usually a good middle spot for us. The staff is very friendly and the service is pretty consistent even when it's busy. Today my friend and I had their Southwestern eggrolls, white spinach queso with chips, their prime rib smothered burrito and a 6oz sirloin with mash potatoes and broccoli. This specific location is my friend's go to spot for a good steak. According to her, their steak is always consistent and good. I highly recommend their southwestern eggrolls as an appetizer or try their sampler because I think their appetizers are bombdotcom! I also highly recommend their smothered prime rib burrito. It's my favorite item on the menu. If you can make it, go to happy hour! I believe it's 3-6 then 9-close. They have good deals on appetizers and drinks. I haven't had a negative experience so I will definitely be back. Just FYI, it gets pretty busy and the waiting area is small. But the plus side is they take your phone number and text you when your table is ready :) Update as of 8/3/17: they got rid of the prime rib burrito off their menu. This makes me sad :( read more

SLOW, DISORGANIZED, MISMANAGED Typically I would be of the opinion that reviewing a Chili's is about as useful to other customers, as reviewing a McDonalds or a box of tissue papper. They are all the same and there is usually little point in such a review because there is seldom any variation in food, service or atmosphere. However this particular location has burned me one too many times for me not to at least attempt to warn others to stay away. The waitress was perfectly friendly but the food came out very slowly. It tasted fine but when it came time for the check we were waiting for 30 minutes. So I decided to use the machine that they have on all the tables to pay my bill. I am resentful about being forced to be my own casher but I really was tired of waiting. Once I was done paying the bill, our waitress came over with the check. I said I had already paid it on the machine. To which she replied I hadn't. I then showed her my receipt and she informed me that I had just payed another tables bill. That the machine was on the wrong table. I said that we needed to fix the problem and she said it was okay that the totals where "close enough" I asked to speak with a manager who after 15 minutes of whispering with the waitress in the back next to the cash register came out with a fake dismissive smile. Informed me that she had fixed the problem and laughed off my complaints about past problems at this location. She blamed children for moving the machine and said they no longer bring checks to customers. Which struck me as odd considering my waitress had just brought me one. The point is unless you want to be in there for a minimum of 2 hours don't go. This is perhaps the 4th bad experience I have had at this location. I have had much better luck at the location in folsom on Iron point rd. Just drive the extra few miles and save yourself the frustration. read more
