We went here to eat around 4:15 in the afternoon, the parking lot was pretty empty so we went in and the hostess told us it would a 5-10 minute wait, we saw the bar had some open seats so we told the hostess we were going to the bar. The bartender was very friendly and knowledgeable, since it was happy hour we decided on some drinks, she then told us that we get free chips and salsa, who doesnt like free!!! The only downside to sitting at the bar was we had a group of loud guys behind us practically yelling in our ears at the Patriots game. The food came out decently quick, we were checked on multiple times throughout. Overall another great experience here!!! Going to chilis with a couple of friends or my boyfriend always turns out to be a fun time. You can't go into chilis thinking you are eating amazing cuisine. It is a fun place with good food for a chain restaurant. I really enjoy their buffalo chicken salad, and I think the service is fairly fast for them always being busy. We've ordered chili's quite a few times over the last 2 years. They are constantly messing up our orders. The worst problem is forgetting major items like chips for dips (spinach queso) that is quite expensive for an appetizer ($8+). I tried several times to talk to management but received no help. This last time I talked with a shift manager who not only didn't help but instead blamed the door dash delivery person. I asked for Chilis to send my chips so I could eat the expensive dip I ordered and was told I could come get the chips or free chips in future. So how does that help? I have a major item that I can't eat because they forgot to bag the chips. I asked if they could have the chips delivered to me but the manager said they were a corporation and could not bear the expense and lose money. But wait, you're the one who forgot to include them in the order! Many times in the past!! I explained this was unacceptable and asked for the corporate phone number. The manager got frustrated and handed me off to another manager who basically told me the same thing. No chips would be delivered and they would credit me or give me free chips on another visit. Guess what - there won't be another visit! Many mistakes in past means I won't be ordering again! Besides, chips are free with the dip anyway. You're paying for the dip not the chips but you can't eat the dip without the chips. So i had to throw away the dip! Mgr said maybe I could order again and get a discount from door dash - really ?! Horrible customer service!! Next step is to call corporate office. So beware of Chilis if you expect good service. If you don't mind missing items or messed up orders then Chils might work out for you but not for me! Done and done with the Chilis in Waterbury. So I've been here on a few occasions during the last 15 years and the food is always acceptable and so is the service! Today there was something extremely different and although the server was so so, the wait for the food was outrageous! I did speak to the manager there Cory who did Apologize. But there is something seriously wrong when half the restaurant is empty and you have to wait more than 20 minutes for your food to arrive at the table! As I always say my money is welcomed with open arms anywhere I go! This is not a place I would make any real effort to return to! I went to Chili's 3017 Berlin Turnpike, Newington, CT 06111 yesterday with my family just over all horrible service. The cups and silverware were dirty sent them back for clean ones. The wait was ridiculous. It took like 40 minutes to get our appetizers. We were there for over an hour and still didn't get our dinner. Then when half of our food can out was cold and the other half was wrong order. My daughter fell asleep at the table hungry waiting for her food that I sent back because it was wrong. I asked to speak with the manager took his time coming nothing but excuses. Need less to say I advise him we were leaving and to not bother with the food we didn't want. Horrific! Eaters BEWARE! Last month, had the jack/mushroom fajitas and 3/4ths of the way through chomped on a ONE-INCH NAIL! Thank goodness it was not in a vertical position or the paramedics would have been called. The "help" tried to write it off and say that no way could it have come from this restaurant BUT IN FACT IT DID! Bought my dinner but not the whole ticket for the table. Kept offering free dessert but who the heck could eat anything more after finding the nail! Filed a complaint with the board of health and Chili's corp office. Me and my co-workers ordered dinner "to-go" here and it was a total disaster. We ordered 2 ribs dinners and a country fried steak with extra gravy. None of these meals came with gravy. It is a sacrilege to serve CFS without gravy. I mean come-on, if you are putting mashed potatoes on a meal, you better add the gravy. We also ordered a molten chocolate cake and all we got was the stupid cake. No ice cream, no caramel, no chocolate. I had to drive back to the restaurant to pick up the gravy because I can't eat my CFS without gravy. The manager hands me a $5 gift certificate for the inconvenience. That doesn't even cover my gas. The manager ended up giving me $15 more in gift certificates. The kicker was that all the "to go" containers had a printout of what was supposed to be inside and a little sticker where someone initials to confirm that they verified the contents. I went in with some friends for dinner and everything that could have gone wrong did. They remade each of our orders three times and still got it wrong. The fault was on the waitress as well as the kitchen so the manager came over to apologize. He comped the entire meal and drinks, plus gave us $15 off our next visit. Went to Chili's for lunch with the parents today. Got seated right away and things were clean, Chil's San Bruno. THe food was terrible. I had the taco trio, 2 fish one shrimp. The food was cold, and the taco fell apart. The tortilla was sliced down the middle, and they still used it. There was no flavor, and no hot sauce around, I equate it with free happy hour food, because it was not worth it. They missed my mom's taco did not giver her the shrimp. Dad had no complaints 1 out of 3 is just not good. The beans were the only thing good on the plate. Chili's used to be good, but now it is not I told them "I will not come back" . They did not apologize or anything like that. It seems the cost cutting has gone too far it was more of a lettuce and cabbage taco. probably why it did not have any taste. read more

Their new people need to get more proper training for phone orders; they take atleast 5 minutes to help you when there's no one in the carry out area. The Non-Spicy Spicy Onion Ring Quandry We were greeted by a very pretty and very nice server and ordered the "Spicy" onion rings. These were tasty but in no way spicy. In fact, they tasted just like regular onion rings. I mentioned this to our server who told me that they weren't really "spicy", they were actually really mild. She then pointed out the "spices" on the plate and told us that if we wanted more heat to it that we should order the spicy onion rings as "extra spicy". My first reaction was, "Is she high?" however I let it go. How to Uncook a Steak We ordered entrees and I picked up the combo of salmon and sirloin steak. I noted in the menu that they give a description of the types of steak you can get (medium, medium rare, rare, etc.). I like mine medium rare (as described in the menu as "a red center with a pink outside") and ordered it as such. It came with broccoli, mashed potatoes, salmon, and the sirloin. The salmon was good but a bit burnt (crispy) on the bottom, the broccoli was ok but the potatoes were actually pretty good. When I cut into the steak, it was cooked at a medium (a slight pink in the middle with a grey outside). I showed this to our waitress who seemed confused. She replied, "That's how we cook a medium rare at Chili's." I hope Gordon Ramsey is aware that Chili's trailblazes it's own path in steak cookery. She seemd further confused when I told her that the steak was overcooked and should be, per the menu, a red inside with a pink outside. She then stunned me by politely asking if I'd like to return it and have them put it back on the grill. I then realized I was just verbally slapped in the face by a gigantic lack of sanity. I gently explained that you can't uncook a steak and she asked if I'd like another one. Stupidly, I said yes. When I cut into the next one, it was red. All through red. Bloody rare red. Because I just couldn't stand it... I showed it to her again and mentioned that they'd gotten it wrong again. She asked again how it should be and I gave up. I told her I was just going to take it home. I was defeated by her doe eyed ignorance and total lack of comprehension. read more

After years of not coming to chili's I came with my family today for a late lunch. I was actually very excited because my aunt came to visit us from El Salvador and I wanted her to try the food here. Unfortunately, overall service was slow and some employees should improve their customer service skills. As we enter the restaurant the host didn't greet us. He right away asked how many in our party and showed us our way to a table. We sat down and then our waitress comes. She seemed nice and friendly. Our drinks came right away, but for some reason our food took a long time to be ready. When the waitress brought our food she didn't even say enjoy your meal or something... Complete silence from her part. Not once she came to our table to see if we needed anything or to at least ask if everything was okay. I saw her going to other tables and be more attentive to them. Even when paying it took such a long time to get our check and also to get our change back. I really wish my family and I could have had a better experience since we haven't come in such a long time. I really don't like to write bad reviews but with what happened, I can't just let this incident pass. My husband, my daughter and I waited for an hour for our order to be served. I ordered sirloin with shrimp and wanted it medium. After waiting an hour, my sirloin was served well done! There was another customer (father with 2 children) who was seated next to our table and came later than us who seems to be acquainted with the manager and servers. Their food was served ahead of us simply because the manager of chilis named Jazmin either knows the male customer and the kids or more so they were related as the server was taking care of this customer very well. The manager and customer were familiar with each other as well as the kids. I guess if you want to be serviced well in this restaurant, you either have to be related to the manager or server, but if you don't know them, you have to be contented and patient enough with this EXTREMELY POOR SERVICE! read more

I am usually on the go so anytime I can grab something to go with me is a plus. Today I was headed back to my hotel and decided to grab lunch to-go. The person helping me took my order and said it would be 15-20minutes which is fine. I moved my car closer and then came inside to wait. I haven't seen the woman since and then 10 minutes goes by, then 20 minutes, then 30+ minutes later she pops up. Here is the thing She reaches for a bag on a table that obviously had been sitting there a while and hands me my room temperature food. I am now miffed because number one I was forgotten, and two there were way too many employees hanging around at the back of the place socializing. Any of them could have seen the bag sitting there and the person (me) sitting there and said "hey what did you order?". So much for good help and good management staff. read more

The area generally was clean but the bathrooms where nasty (like usual for a mens bathroom) but the reason why im giving this San Bruno Chili's a 5 star rating is because of their EXCELLENT customer service I received from them earlier today after being extra tired from shooting NASCAR in Sonoma. Went here last thursday around 9:30pn . The Customer service was ok . The girl host at the entrance was not very approachable, we went inside and sat by the couch and she saw us and just asked how many people , but she seems very uninterested in what she was doing . Also the funny thing is we saw her sitting down while cleaning a table across from us .
