Wow, went 2 visit with new menu and portions. But didn't expect an over 30% increase in our bill. Was definitely not worth it. Evidently others have noticed same thing. Because for the first time ever going to this location, the place was empty. Going back 2 the way things used 2 be and increasing the bill amount over 30% isn't going 2 work 4 families and the bar was empty as usual. Guess corporate is going 2 have 2 fix again. Everyone knows what a Chili's is. To their credit, their consistency between stores is pretty good in my opinion. It's just not a restaurant to write home about. Scored a Coupon for another Free Appetizer and I had to purchase an Adult entree. Todays entree is a classic bacon burger with cheddar cheese, smoked applewood bacon, red onion, lettuce, tomato, told them to HOLD the MAYO, I hate MAYO on anything, getting mustard instead. My Free Appetizer this time is the skillet queso & chips which comes with seasoned beef chili with cheese, salsa and enough chips to last me more then a week. The chili cheese is enough for 3 meals for me and the salsa is enough for 4 meals for me. I lvoe that I use the coupons and get the ordered to go. I am singgle so eating at a restaurant by myself is not super fun. read more

Stopped by tonight because I had a taste for steak, and I know I have had quite a few good (and affordable) steaks at Chili's before. Normally, I get a regular seasoned steak with a side of veggies. But today..OH TODAY. I saw something on the menu that intrigued me. A classic sirloin with a spicy citrus chile sauce. It comes with a fresca salad and garlic roasted tomatoes. Which looked good in the picture, but I'm not a huge fan of tomatoes. So I just got mashed potatoes instead. *Note: I was also slightly hesitant on the salad. I ordered a blackberry lemonade. Soooo amazing! I was so excited to try this steak. And then... it fiiiiinally arrives. Wow! Looks perfect. I ordered my steak medium (figuring I'd get it medium well, which I did) and it was perfect. Flavors, seasoning, temperature. What I didn't expect to be so good was the fresca salad. A generous helping. It was a simple spring mix with a honey and lemon drizzle "sprinkled" with cheese. Skimpy on the cheese.. I got a cookie skillet to go(really simple, purposeful containers so you can heat up the cookie and keep the ice cream separate). Be aware. The games at your table that your kids immediately start playing there is a charge for it!!! Unbelievable.! Chills should not charge for games at the table. Also salmon was overlooked and shrimp limp and slimy. Not a good visit to chills. read more

For some odd reason, the servers during the dinner rush hours are absolutely terrible. NEVER go when it's busy! The servers around lunch/early dinner are the sweetest/fastest/most amazing servers ever. Always very attentive and the food even comes out better during these times. read more

I ordered a flat bread, thinking by the picture it would be a delicious appetizer, but I was highly disappointed. After a busy evening the night before the first day of school we decided to surprise the kiddos with chips and queso. We called the To Go number when we left soccer planning to pick it up on the way home. Our call was not answered the first time. We called back and they put us on hold for 11 minutes and then hung up on us. Of course, we were frustrated. We were also already at the restaurant. We went in and they were super busy. We still ordered it to go. I mentioned we had been on hold for 11 minutes. We were not rude, nor did I expect anything. It was more of an FYI. They comped us our order. This is the worst Chili's we've ever been to. We started with chips and salsa. Pretty sure we got all of the crumbs. The chips we did get, were in the salsa. It took our food forever, and all we ordered was soup and salad, a burger and a kids pizza. When I finally got my salad, it looked like it was pulled from the back of the refrigerator, and had been there a couple of days. The croutons were soggy, the ends of the cucumbers were curled. It as a sad excuse for a salad. I tried to use my rewards, which I've never used, and is the reason I wanted to go, but no one knew how to use them. What's the point in offering them?!?! read more

We've been to this location many times over the years. This was the worst meal we've ever been served here. My husband ordered the Buffalo Chicken Salad, which he has had often. Lettuce was brown on the edges and soggy. Flavor was off also. His Southwest Chicken soup wasn't a full cup and about half of that was tortilla strips. I ordered the 6 oz sirloin, medium. It came out rare-medium rare, lot of gristle and the smallest 'steak' I've ever received at Chili's. Sent it back and asked for a new order of just broccoli as what I was served was over cooked and coated with a spicy pepper mix. Our daughter ordered buffalo wings and they were cold and seemed to be a smaller portion than usual. Server was polite, but not very attentive...took a while to get her attention after we got our food. Extremely disappointed. read more

Whoa - just had the scariest service of my life at this location. Sat at the bar on Sunday 10/6 from around 6:15-7:15 pm. The bartender Dave was scary. Man was SERIOUSLY pissed off. First thing he says to me, "What can I get you?" with one eye on the TV screen. No "hi". No "welcome" - right down to business. Not very welcoming, but... OK. He then proceeds to show way more interest in the Denver/Dallas game than customers. I can only guess he was a Dallas fan because after they lost - his attitude took a further nosedive. Another customer at the bar even asked him "Is everything OK?" He was moments away from losing it altogether. South Elgin Chili's owner - look at the tape from Sunday at 6:44 pm - Dave is seriously pissed off about something. The same customer asked for more salsa at which point, Dave DUMPS a boatload of salsa in a ramakin and hands it to the customer. Customers says, "WAY to much salsa dude!!" Dave looks annoyed at customer. Customer finishes meal and Dave says to him, "Ready to leave?" Not how was your meal, need anything else (but after the salsa fiasco I doubt the customer would even ask for anything else). Just "Ready to leave" like get out of my restaurant. Put my card up to pay - because frankly I didn't want to be around for the eventual combustion of Dave that was certainly coming - it took him six minutes to get around to picking up my card. Service was good, the food.. I feel like there's been a change is the meat used. What I expected to get as chicken crispers were not chicken the texture was odd. Didn't look like chicken can't even bite into it like chicken the shape of the crispers even is strange. I literally took two bites and felt sick. I brought it home thought maybe it was just me or in my head but tried it again later after putting in oven and still! The texture is not chicken and that seriously creeps me out. 20$ literally went to my trash can AND it was my birthday! Typical Chili's restaurant. The food is pretty consistent from one to another. The chicken enchiladas were ok. The staff was friendly. My wife's chicken enchilada was mostly empty though. I think if she were to review this place she would have given it 2 stars. If you don't expect too much, this place will do. read more

This review isn't about the food. I guess it would be more about a worker there. Apparently he was late for work on Saturday the 6th of April. We were driving south on Randall when all of a sudden this gold color Chevy SUV license number Z976117 was determined to get into our lane regardless of how he was going to do it. We had to practically stop so that he wouldn't shove us off the road or hit us. We did follow him because I wanted to get his license plate number because I was going to call the police. He was a big burly guy with a fricken temper, while we followed him all he did was give us the figure. Then when we got in front of his car he came charging at us and said keep moving.. I call the police and when they got there unfortunately they couldn't do anything because he wasn't in his car. After awhile we drove passed Chili's again and he was still there. So we are assuming he is an employee. If this is how he acts while driving, how does he treat the customers in Chili's. I will tell you one thing we will not ever go to this Chili's and none of friends or family will either. Dear Chili's you can thank this jerk!!!! read more

Hmmmm. What can you say. Obviously this is an older place, and it shows. Waited about 5 to 6 minutes to be waited on, not good, considering the table by us was seated and served within a couple minutes after that, and we were there before them. So our drinks and one appetizer came and then the entrees came a few minutes later. Went to use the utensils, and couldn't believe it.... the knife was not ckean, meaning drying marks from the dishwasher and the fork....disgusting.... sticky and dry food particles on it?? Someone isn't paying attention, that's for sure. Then went to the restroom, and found it funny that I passed the kitchen and I saw workers just standing around drinking and snacking and no one had the initiative to sweep the kitchen floor because there was food all over on the floor. There are other things I could point out, but you get the idea. No reaction were it's needed. Not clean and a very poor sanitary attitude. We were laughing and I guess we were talking loud but we were in the bar section and there was only two other people in there, When we went to order a third drink she tried to refuse us because she said we were drunk and it was for our safety . My wife and I eat here a lot, and generally like the place as it is very near to where we live, but Good Friday was not a Good experience. The lunch menu is generally a good value, but being a meatless Friday (per religion), found us in a weird situation that NONE of the lunch menu items were meatless, nor were the soups. One, Potato Soup, was made with bacon. So forget the soup and salad lunch! The next choice were the fajitas for $8.00, except the choice was chicken or beef. No shrimp/fish on the lunch menu! We asked if they could substitute shrimp as it was GOOD FRIDAY and the dinner menu has a shrimp fajita option for a $2 up-charge which we told the waiter we were willing to pay, but right away, the answer was "no the computer can't handle that"! After much discussion, the waiter did came back with a 50% up-charge (yes $4.00) for shrimp fajitas. I was ready to walk out and find a new place to eat, but let my wife convince me to stay. We ended up ordering the dinner portion for $14.99 and split it two ways. So instead of selling us two lunches at $8.00 each, with a $2 up-charge on each, and getting $20 for the restaurant, the deal finally cost us $14.99. I was livid and let the waiter know that Bricker company policy "sucked"! Eventually the manager on duty comes out to explain how company policy was that he "has to up-charge $4.00 for lunch shrimp, blah, blah, blah". "No exceptions, everybody would be asking, blah, blah, blah". Once I heard "company policy" as his defense, I lost it! Go tell the Bricker regional and corporate folks that you lost a 15 year customer over company policy! A group of us went to Chili's in South Elgin today and I will never go back!!! All four of us ordered soup and salad. The server brought us the "bowl" of soup, it looked more like a cup not a bowl!!! We got no crackers or rolls! When we tasted the soup, mine was barely warm!!!! I ask the others in my group how their soup was, and they also said it was cold. I called the server over and told him that all of our soups were cold. He said he was sorry and he'd bring us some new soup. I told him we all wanted crackers too. He came back about 8 minutes later with soup & crackers. The soup was warmer but not hot!!! The salad was good.But when he brought the checks, he overcharged all of us!!! The menu said soup & salad for $7.99. He charged us $4.99 for the soup and $4.99 for the salad, totaling$9.98!! I told the server he made a mistake on our checks, overcharging us. I should him the menu with the price of $7.99 for both soup and salad. He said he would correct his mistake and redo the checks. I was looking for a survey on the receipt, but there wasn't one. My wife and I tried to stop in for a quick drink at a local place. I should have realized by the three tables with dirty dishes in the bar area, they have taken a tremendous slide. The bartender said she would be right with us, but never did. She made drinks at a very slow pace and I could see her order board in the bar filling up with orders. It was clear we weren't getting service, so we got up and walked out. There are lots of great places in St. Charles, Geneva, Elgin, ... I will be a long time before I ever go back there. The service when we went here for a late dinner, mid-week was atrocious! We waited forever to have a server come over to our table initially, then when he came we placed our order for drinks and dinner. A half hour later our drinks finally arrived at the table and 45 minutes after ordering our cold dinners arrived at the table. Then, after all that we sat around waiting forever for the check.
