Ordered an horchata latte lightly sweetened and was quite disappointed. Unfortunately the coffee was very sweet and extremely watery v. Creamy as a latte should be. What I got was a sweet horchata coffee with a splash of milk, not what I ordered or paid for. The line was quite long as well and the space is very limited, particularly with all the passerbys.

Yummy. The pastries are super unique and seasonal drinks are well thought out. Great neighborhood spot

Really wanted to like this spot but it was pretty ok for my taste buds. It's more of a grab and go spot, perfect for neighboring homes. Hospitality is through the roof which makes it much better, staff is really patient and friendly! Love that they don't charge extra for milk alternatives. Salted Maple Cardamom Latte -strong on cardamom with a hint of after taste of maple. I opted for oat milk which added extra creaminess. Coffee was strong and smooth, no hint of tanginess. Surprisingly not too sweet, perfect balance. Honey Houjicha Latte -really good, not grainy at all. I opted for oat milk in this one and it was perfectly creamy. Matcha Tonic (Passion Fruit Chia)- was lacking something, maybe it wasn't sweet enough? We added our own passion fruit flavored syrup when we got home and it fixed everything. Horchata Coldbrew (with whole milk)- not sure if it's because we opted to add whole milk it seemed off. You really only taste the milk and not much coffee present at all. We added a ton of cinnamon when we got home and it helped a bit.

Thank you to Amelia for the lovely hospitality. We had an incredible experience! Our first stop on the El Sereno Food Tour! They sold the passports, and we needed a midday pick-me-up, so it was perfect. I got their Elderberry Healer over ice, and my husband got a hot vanilla oat latte. My iced tea was refreshing, and it had a taste of ginger that I enjoyed. The latte was superb. It was balanced, not too sweet. The foam was creamy, adding a pleasant mouthfeel. The cost was $24.05 with tax and tip. We received a 15% passport discount, which was a nice surprise! The cafe itself is intimate, with space for only staff and up to 2 patrons. Not to worry, because there was plenty of shaded outside seating. The cafe has character and is quite inviting! We were able to get residential street parking. P.S. If you live close by or don't have to take the 5 freeway or cut through Elysian Park to get here, consider yourself extremely lucky, and I am jealous of you!

My favorite local spot, I love the iced oatmilk vanilla latte. Their in house syrups are incredible! There may be a line, but they are so fast it doesn't matter. I live 3-5 min away and can be back within 11 min!

Cute little coffee shop. This was our first time visiting. We were on our way to a film shoot early in the morning, and got there before they opened, maybe around 6:50 am or so. We were running a little late and in a hurry, so tried to see if they would let us in a few minutes early. A young woman was in the shop setting up and preparing to open. She said no, we had to wait until they opened. Street parking. Because it was so early in the morning, we were able to park right in front. We each ordered coffee and a pastry. It's a tiny little shop but cute with a nice ambience. Coffee is good, and pastries are good too. We took our order to go, after fixing our coffees at the outside cart, with cream and sugar etc. Service was friendly and efficient and we enjoyed both the coffee and pastries. I would recommend it!

This location is such a hidden gem! First time I went was for their pumpkin matcha and im so sad it was a seasonal drink as it was soooo good. I had their tomato peste croissant which is really good especially warmed up. Second time i had their Spanish latte and it was okay, tbh kinda had a sour taste, not sure if the milk was bad but would come back to try their other matchas. Service is great here, although they get packed they are so fast and super friendly.

Lil East Coffee is giving tiny, vibey, blink-and-you'll-miss-it energy. No indoor seating, just a few cute little outdoor spots. Think "coffee date with your coolest friend" but make it sidewalk chic. The staff is super sweet, the branding is cool, and I wanted to be obsessed. I got the horchata cold brew and sadly... it was giving iced water with a cinnamon memory. My husband had the hojicha which was decent but not life-changing. We've had better. That said, I'm rooting for them. The vibe is right, the people are kind, and I'm absolutely down to come back for a second shot. Maybe it was just a weird batch day. Also... parking? Rough. Prepare emotionally and maybe spiritually.

Iced horchata latte. Don't forget to stir or shake before enjoying.

This upscale little hole-in-the-wall coffee spot is across from El Sereno High School and miles from the next coffee shop, so it's no wonder why this is the locals go-to spot for a sweet cup of caffeine and some carbs. True to its name this place is "lil", like it's so small that you might actually miss it while you're driving by. So keep a look out for the black and white sign that spells out COFFEE. You see folks busting U-turns on the two-way street just to snag a street parking on a Sunday...not just because we all know that residential parking is tight, but the coffee is just that good. (Have no parking fear, because on weekends you can park near the high school.) But first coffee...my first sip of my iced horchata latte with a slash of oat milk on top made me scream "Wow! That's strong!" Then I proceeded to grab an eco-friendly (plant-based?) straw to stir and delightfully indulge in my drink. (Note: Rarely do I get iced coffee, even on hot days, but today was what felt like record-breaking temperatures outside and, yes, this drink was refreshing). I paired my caffeinated beverage with a slice of coconut carrot cake (more like a bread loaf slice). It did not disappoint with its rich flavors - both fluffy and chunky texture that easily crumbled apart by even looking at it. Seating is simple. Nothing fancy, like their double-sided menu near the cashier. You can pull your own stool and find a corner of the sidewalk under an umbrella to chat with a friend. This is ideal for your on-the-go coffee orders. If you decide to get fancy though, you can buy a bag of coffee beans and other giftable items Happy sipping!

Wow great drinks even for the kiddos there are 2 cool options! A much needed coffee place in this neighborhood. Parking ugh. Get the El Sereno Food & Beverage Passport here!

Visited this place on Saturday with my boyfriend as we were in the neighborhood and wanted to grab a quick coffee. The customer service was great and welcoming, the place itself is so pretty and parking is easy! They have a lot of options to choose from for drinks, we got the salted maple syrup iced coffee and the dulce de leche iced coffee. The ladies working were sweet and helpful when it came to recommendations. Overall, the coffee was great and so were the vibes

The patrons include bicyclists whose bikes cost more than my car, folks driving Porsches (the bougiest car of all imho), lots of performative tattoos, and more athleisurewear than I've seen in my life. When the word "elevated" gets used to describe menu items, that's a dead giveaway. And yet....that Mascarpone latte is a work of art. Per their website, it's a "Tiramisu inspired drink layered with espresso, mascarpone cheese foam, and muscovado milk." It's just as good as it sounds. And honestly, these days, $8 was a bargain. Shocking how many young people were up and ordering their custom drinks at 7:30 am on a Sunday morning. I'm guessing the line gets really long on weekends. So order early! Five stars for creative drinks and free street parking.

The cream top does make it very creamy and it does mask majority of the matcha flavor. It did taste like a dessert drink. It was enjoyable though. COLD BREW VANILLA Weirdly sour and smoky flavored cold brew. Slight floral flavor too. It was such an odd combination of flavors with the vanilla cold foam. The lingering aftertaste was not good either. It's neither this nor that. Would not recommend! FINANCIERS Their financiers are made by a local bakery called Musk. It seems their financier flavors are changed often, so no same flavors are in rotation. Sausage & Parmesan - The almond cake's vanilla flavor with the sausage and salty parmesan was a unique flavor. The almond cake was nice and spongy. It did take a bit of time to get used to the savory flavors with the almond cake. It's like a breakfast in an unexpected way. Nutella - Buttery almond cake with nutella and roasted hazelnuts. Enjoyed it! I think Nutella fans would like it. Mugwort + Fig - Buttery in the beginning and it ends with a good, medium-strength flavor of mugwort. Fig was garnish on top, so you barely get it. However, I like that they added the sweetness of the figs with the earthy bitter mugwort. Overall, it was uniquely delicious and mugwort was the star. Yuza + Apricot - A tad sweeter than expected due to the outer brush of yuza aka yuzu simple syrup. Loved the chewy apricot on top. It really brought a lovely fruityness to the financier. The yuzu flavor was there alongside the butteryness of the almond cake. All the financiers were done well! Delicious! Recommend trying at least one when you're at this location. Not sure if their financiers are offered at their other locations. CUSTOMER SERVICE It was good. Not terribly friendly, but still answered my questions. Staff were all busy making the drinks. AMBIANCE + SEATS Really large space with rows of tables and chairs. It was strange walking in and seeing various tables and seats to one side and it almost looked like a cafe used as office space. Seeing all the people sitting down on their laptops or talking, as though they're having a casual business meeting there. It was just strange. The tables were mixed wooden tables and chairs. There were long benches too for people waiting for takeout orders. The large space felt so roomy, I get why the tables were all taken. PARKING Street parking is available, yet when I was there in the early afternoon on a Tuesday, it was packed! The only place to park was the paid parking lot right across from Damo. Parking was $5.00. I wouldn't recommend parking elsewhere outside of that street, as it is a sketchy area and lots of homeless encampments around the area. Would I return? Not sure. I like the large, roomy warehouse space with lots of tables to sit in, but the cafe being in a sketchy area gives me hesitation. Not in love with $5.00 parking too. One of my drinks was good, but the other was bad. The only thing I loved was the financiers.

I ordered the Orange Mint Latte, Matcha Sparkling Lemonade, Einspanner White, Hibiscus Mint Sparkling Lemonade, and of course, a cortado. I also tried their Wagyu Sliders. Every drink was fantastic. What I really enjoyed was how different each one was from the next. It didn't feel like I was ordering variations of the same drink -- each had its own flavor profile, presentation, and unique touch. The Orange Mint Latte was especially interesting, and both sparkling lemonades were refreshing and completely different from what I would normally order. The Einspanner White was another standout. Overall, it was a really fun variety to try at once. The cortado was also very good. It had a nice flavor, smooth texture, and was easy to drink. Their approach is a little different from a traditional cortado presentation because the espresso and milk are fully integrated together rather than finished with latte art. I actually appreciate that style when it's executed well because the focus is more on getting the espresso and milk completely incorporated into one cohesive drink. The presentation across the entire order was also really well done. You can tell there's thought behind how everything is served and put together, which adds to the overall experience. The Wagyu Sliders were great as well. I think the food side of Archives of Us deserves more attention because they have some genuinely good food options to go along with the drinks rather than the food feeling like an afterthought. The space itself is beautifully designed with plenty of seating inside as well as an outdoor seating area.
