I found Bill Trapnell (the owner of the company) with his ladder up in my back yard last week. He was standing on the roof outside my daughter's window. When I confronted him he refused to spell his last name, but indicated he was the Operations Manager. I called the company, and he answered the phone. Turns out he doesn't have an office staff and is the owner of the company. Also, I don't have a chimney. He claimed he had meant to be at my neighbor's house, but I didn't validate that with my neighbor. I've filed a police report. Unprofessional, do not recommend. read more

I had a leak in my chimney that unfortunately took several years to get fixed. I went from chimney repair, to new roof, to chimney repair 1, 2, 3. Bill Trapnell was always polite and responsive to me. (After 3plus years of attempting to figure out the propblem). The one thing I found is this guy blames that guy and that guy blames this guy. All the while I just want to fix the leek. (More like gusher when the big rain comes).t Every winter I had the same experience~that storm where the rain fell heavy and hard along with the wind, drip, drip, drip,....at 10:00pm pitch dark and then it just come flooding in~who would'nt want that fixed? My ceiling inside looks horrible and can not be fixed until the issue is fixed. this has been ongoing for years). I never was against fixing what ever contributed to the issue. Bill came out several times along with Roland. Both were polite but came to the point of giving up, after 3 plus years of trying). I had suggest 3 different times that it might be the cap. I was sent copies of what it looked like. It had cracks filled with moss. It was obvious to me there was a way for water to travel. I suggested this 3 different times. Roland said fixing that would just be cosmetic and would be wasting my money. (He told me that twice~while I appreciate that they are not our to waste my money, the obvious was there to me, we fixed, renewed everything else). I gave them many opportunities to fix the issue. I figured it out. The man who came out and pressure washed it and then saw that the moss was basically holding the cement cap together. It took little effort to break it loose and replace it. He did tell me the work Roland did looked good. To put it nicely he shook his head at why they felt it was not worth looking into the cap. Oregon stays wet except mostly in the summer~Moss in crackes is a sign that something is breaking, something is cracked. If you have an issue they can not remedy~don't waste time~like I did. I did contact Bill and let him know I got it fixed and what the issue was. He told me he was glad it got fixed as he knew it was a concern of mine~See~Always polite~I do appreciate the work they did do right~I just felt it was worth sharing my experience. The home inspection and repair estimate process when purchasing our 1959 era home in Tigard, OR revealed the chimney needed work. My real estate agent secured a quote from her go to experts Chimney Sweep Specialist (CSS). The detailed inspection and quote for repairs came through in 2 days. A couple of weeks after closing (we needed roof work completed first), CSS scheduled a day in July 2022 and completed the work in 1 day. Very impressed with the results and great communication the entire way. As a bonus, Nationwide insurance did a property inspection before the work was done and issued a notice of cancellation based on the uneven driveway (being repaired as I review CSS) and condition of the chimney. Called because one of our chimneys is leaking and we need it fixed ASAP. The man with whom I spoke sent an estimator out to look at the chimney. The person who came out was very nice, but he pretty much looked at it and said "it's going to be expensive, I can't tell you anything more, you'll get a bid from the office" and left. That was over a month ago and we never heard from them again. I called once and was not able to reach a human so I gave up. We were having our wood burning insert replaced and it was recommended that we have the chimney swept after the old insert was removed prior to installing the new insert. Frank from Chimney Sweep Specialist came out to my home to inspect and clean the chimney. The 40+ year old home was a recent purchase, and came with very little information or history. It had a general home inspection when purchased this spring, but not an actual chimney inspection. I wanted to be sure the fireplace and chimney were safe to use, and that the chimney was not serving as a home for any critters after the house's many months of vacancy. Frank found a few minor issues regarding wear and tear and potential future issues that I can lookout for, from year to year, that may arise due to the chimney's original design and structure. He did not find anything that needed immediate attention, and he reduced the original estimated cost based on the fact that it did not need sweeping, but just a little debris removal, some vacuuming, and the inspection. He also gave me a lot of professional insight and information on changes I am contemplating for the fireplace and chimney, as I make improvements to the home. I felt the information was sound, logical, and helpful in my creation of a plan for the changes over the next year.
