The Chimneysweep is a Valley classic. It's not the biggest bar around, but I like that it has somewhat of an intimate feeling. The bartop was clean, drinks came fast, and bartender was super friendly. This is a kind of bar where you walk in and chat with everyone inside like you've known each other for years, but some people do get a little sloppy. It's a dive, what else would you expect? I love the burning fireplace and festive holiday decor inside. It has that "classic" LA vibe with the leather booths and old timey decor. There's plenty of seating area inside and they have a very tiny outdoor space that's probably just best for standing. They also have a pool table that gets pretty crowded at night for all the inquiring pool sharks. The ONLY downside here is that you have to pay to play music. If no one pays for music, it's dead silent in there. Awk. They used to have Karaoke, but I didn't see a set-up when I was there on a Tuesday night. Overall, the Chimneysweep is a good time and definitely a locals-only sort of spot. You can park in the lot of the shopping center too which is super convenient!

A real bar, not a disco.

Yelp guided me to this establishment while I was on a business trip in Sherman Oaks. It did not disappoint. A genuine old-school, dive bar in the every sense of the word. Dark room, low-hanging lights at the bar, padded seats along the wall and people who came to drink, not to dance or order food. They have a smoking area out front. It's hidden behind a screen and some shrubs so you nicotine junkies can keep your secret.) Colorful clientele. Good for people watching (but don't stare.) If you want a cool, dark, safe place to relax and sip a cocktail, this is it. I'll be back. PS I read the review of the poster who was upset that their dog and they were "shunned". My guess is that they walked into the smoking area out front. "But nicotine junkies are all the same, at a petting party or a poker game, everything's got to stop so they can have a cigarette."

I think this is my favorite bar is the valley now. The atmosphere is really cozy and the fireplace is just perfect. Customer service is good, and the drinks were made really nicely and strong. The outside area is great too. I had a very pleasant experience. I will definitely come back again.

Your jukebox is a joke. Money maker. But good drinks and chill people. If it's crowded don't bother with jukebox.

Once we arrived the interior had a relaxed, easygoing vibe, modern but cozy, with stylish design touches that made the whole space feel welcoming and unhurried. Even the waiting area with it's low lit seating surrounded by book cases was really cool. My wife, my sister and I had a wonderful table near the fireplace in the center of the dining area. Nearby were draped booths that would be perfect for a more romantic evening. Our server was, Haley...she was incredible. Very personable, helpful and extremely professional. You'll be in good hands if you're lucky enough to get her! Then the food...Wow. My wife and my sister got the filet migons, watching my wife's euphoric reaction of taking her fist bite made my evening! Omg...thankfully, my wife let me try garlic fries that came with the filets, and they were the best I ever had! I got the Langostino Fettuccine...outstanding. You have to dig a little spicy, which I do...but the vodka cream sauce is the real highlight of this dish. For deserts we got the apple cobbler, the creme brulee and sticky toffee cake. All three were fantastic. But I preferred the cobbler and the toffee cake the most. We didn't get the Le Petit Gateau, their chocolate cake...but we decided to get one to go! HA...it's unbelievably rich and pretty tall and big. It's topped with candied wild cheries...it's two days later and we're still eating this yummy treat. All in all...I would recommend this for any occasion...wether you're looking for just a night out with solid service and great food, to a romantic evening. We got there around 6...but later on there was live music with these two gentlemen on guitars that really played perfect atmosphere music. You can't go wrong with a night out at Firefly!

They lean on the sweeter side, so it is the kind of place where you might stop in for a sugary cocktail rather than something particularly memorable. I'm always…read morelooking for restaurants that offer a different kind of dining experience -- something unique, something memorable -- and Verse absolutely delivered on that. From the moment we pulled up to valet to checking in for our reservation, everything felt smooth and elevated. We got seated right away and our server, Roger (I think that was his name), immediately set the tone for the evening. He gave us a great rundown of the menu and the concept of the restaurant, which made the experience feel more personal and immersive. We started with the Hokkaido milk buns and wow... that brown butter was dangerously addicting. Soft and almost mousse-like with the perfect balance of sweetness and salt. I could honestly eat that by itself. The buns themselves were delicious too, though I do wish they served them piping hot like the bread at Texas Roadhouse or Lucille's Smokehouse. The yellowtail crudo was incredible. Super fresh, melt-in-your-mouth texture, and the chips added a nice crunch while the fruit brought a bright, robust flavor that paired beautifully with the fish. Easily one of my favorite dishes of the night. A friend of my friend happened to be working there that evening and surprised us with the kale sprouts. Funny enough, we had literally just been debating whether to order it. It turned out to be such a great dish -- smoky, crunchy, and packed with flavor. The raisins added a really nice touch of sweetness. We ended up saving some of it to eat alongside our entrees and it paired perfectly. My friend ordered the dry-aged branzino and it was excellent. Crispy skin on the outside while the fish stayed soft, juicy, sweet, and savory inside. The Oaxacan mole felt like such a bold choice but somehow worked beautifully with the dish. And that burnt sweet potato? So soft and flavorful it practically melted in your mouth. I went with the dry-aged duck breast and loved every part of it. It came with pommes aligot layered with duck au jus and fermented black bean underneath, which sounded unexpected but tasted amazing together. Rich, savory, unique, and comforting all at once. The potato pave was another standout -- crispy on the outside, tender and rich on the inside. Absolutely delicious. Everything about the night was memorable: the atmosphere, the music, the food, and the service. Verse is definitely one of those places that stands out from the usual dining scene. We didn't have time to stay for dessert since we had another engagement afterward, but honestly that just gave us another reason to come back.

The atmosphere is incredibly romantic, the vibe is amazing, and the live band really adds to the experience. The service was top-notch as well. Roger was our waiter, and he was energetic, attentive, and thoughtful enough to send out a complimentary dessert with a candle to help us celebrate. The food was outstanding. We started with the kale sprouts and buns appetizer, then my wife ordered the mushroom risotto from their vegetarian menu, which was a really nice surprise since we hadn't seen it online and it gave her more options, and I had the NY steak. We also shared the corn elote on the side. Everything -- and I truly mean everything -- was delicious and incredibly satisfying. One thing I really appreciated was that dinner felt like an experience rather than a rushed meal. The food came out a little slower than at most restaurants, but honestly, that made the night even better. It gave us time to enjoy the music, relax, talk, and savor each course as it came out. Sometimes with upscale restaurants, you worry you'll pay a lot and still leave hungry. That was definitely not the case here. Verse exceeded our expectations, and we'll absolutely be back! Next time I wanna try that tomahawk steak!
