Bourbon Chicken w/ fried rice and egg roll

China 1 is everything you want in a dumpy, Chinese takeout restaurant. The door is always open, the employees are yelling at each other, and the exhaustive menu contains your favorite Americanized Chinese staples for mere pennies. The pictures on the wall look as if they're from 1987. The floor is sticky, the ceiling tiles dirty and the weird West-wing wall mirror, cracked. However, the portion size for the price is completely worth it. Egg rolls, beef and broccoli, pork fried rice, curry chicken, tofu and vegetables, spare ribs, etc. I've eaten a giant chunk of the menu and I can't say I was ever let down. Granted, it's not the greatest Chinese meal of your life, but it gets the job done. Phone in orders are usually on time for pick up. The cell reception in this plaza warrants investigation, so I realistically have triple the check-ins than what Yelp says. Oh well. Live long and prosper!

Growing up in the North I was exposed to "New York" Chinese food, so I have set my expectations high for take out Chinese food. China One doesn't come close to that, but it is one of the better options in the intercoastal area (better being relative). China One offers your typical dishes and also Thai dishes. None of them are terrible but none will blow you away. I've noticed that sometimes the same dish will taste differently from time to time...sometimes better sometimes worse. At the end of the day you can get a cheap meal that will fill you up and is usually decent. Don't be discouraged to try just don't expect greatness.

I like this place while it may have taken three people to figure out my address..lol the food came faster than I expected always hot always fresh. I think like someone said it's your typical Chinese spot but I live in the Kernan area and I've tried a lot of what you would think or typical Chinese spots that tastes horrible and this is not one of them so if you're looking for good solid Chinese in your neighborhood this is the spot

We aren't sure what…read morepeople's tastes are in this area but this was the worst Chinese food my husband or myself have ever had! I would eat Panda Express before ever going back here and I hate it! I barely ate anything! We took an Uber over from the marina we were staying at. Firstly this is mainly a take out place, that's fine. There are four tables. Food was served in to go boxes with paper plates and plastic spoons and forks. Little tiny napkins and no knives. We ordered an appetizer, soup, rice and a main. Everything came out together. We ordered Wonton and Hot & Sour soup. Steamed Dumplings, Vegetable Fried Rice and Orange Chicken that came with white rice. The best part of the meal was the white rice! The Steamed Dumplings were barely cooked with very little meat in them and were probably cooked in a microwave. The Wonton Soup was just ok. The Hot & Sour Soup had so much bean curd in it that should have been its name. I ate half of the cup because that was the best part of my meal! The Vegetable Fried Rice was disgusting. It was soggy and tasteless. I had about one bite. My husband's Orange Chicken had so much breading on it was hard to find the chicken. He ate about half of it because he's not that picky and was really hungry! We got a bonus's Pork Egg Roll because we spent over $40. I ate two bites of it and spit the second one out! We also had two bottles of water, no issues with the water. Overall it was a terrible experience. I will say that many reviews talked about small portions we thought the portions were fine. I'm giving this review one star because I can't give a zero!

The chicken was burnt and looked completely different from what I expected based on the only teriyaki meat photo they have listed on the app. Yes, I understand the picture says beef sticks and I ordered chicken, but I still expected the chicken to be prepared in a similar style, not looking like it barely escaped a house fire. Even though I ordered delivery, I personally drove back up to the restaurant with my plate and explained that I was disappointed. I asked if they could either remake it or let me switch it for something of equal or lesser value. I specifically asked for the boneless spare ribs combination plate, which was the same price. Instead, I was offered either a discount or for them to remake only the meat, throw away the rice, clean out the same plate, and put the newly made meat back in it. :/ The young lady also explained that they offer the chicken teriyaki sticks as a combination platter, but not the regular chopped chicken teriyaki with sauce, which is actually more of what I was looking for. That can only be purchased by itself. I even had to show her the options listed on Uber Eats, which made the whole situation even more confusing. Honestly, this could have been avoided if the regular chicken teriyaki was offered as a combination platter on the app or if the menu made the difference clearer. As for the advertised photo versus what I actually received? Straight up catfish. I should've called Nev. The picture shows glossy, properly cooked teriyaki meat. Mine looked like it had been left on the grill during an emergency evacuation. I've been coming here for the past few years and have never had an issue before. I've always spoken highly of this place and recommended it to other people, which is exactly why this experience was so disappointing. It definitely left a nasty taste in my mouth. Or maybe that was just the burnt chicken teriyaki.

They're at 10586 Old St Augustine Road in Mandarin with a nice size parking lot so their location is great and parking isn't a concern. I'll get to the food in a minute but I'll start by saying that before we opened our fortune cookies at the end, I jokingly said "I hope one of these says 'you will get your original Facebook account back". They didn't say that but I included a photo of both because I feel like they're close enough As far as food goes, we split the Peony Sampler for an appetizer and loved it. It definitely did it's job as a sampler because now we know we like all of their appetizers and would order any of them on their own in the future. I ordered Egg Drop Soup after that because it's a favorite of mine. I always add a little salt to their version of it but I add salt to a lot of soups so that may just be a "me" thing. I had the Sweet & Sour Pork with Fried Rice for my entree, which is the same things had last time and it's still great. Between the appetizer and the soup and the entree, I was hoping to have enough to take home for lunch tomorrow and I definitely did. My wife had the General Chicken. She really liked the sauce because it was sweet but has a little bit of spicy kick to it. She said the same thing I said about the chicken itself; she loved that it was big pieces of juicy white meat. She was also surprised by how much she liked the broccoli which made for one of those things where you could get a bite of everything at once. She also had a lot to take home, so she's happy with that too. Thank you again to the person who posted about Peony in the group recently. We had a great lunch thanks to your reminder.
