Did a pick up order at China a go go as they are one of the places I like to order when I want my food quick and they are always quick. Though I've been a customer for over a decade I feel like the food is different. The fried rice is usually fresh and fluffy but it was pretty greasy this time. The sesame beef usually tastes crisp on the outside and tender/juicy on the inside but not crispy this time. I have never been crazy about China A Go Go. From my perspective it is a level above Panda Express and fast food restaurants in general. However, it is a level below many casual dining Chinese restaurants. The majority of the time that I dine in China A Go Go is during their lunch special. China A Go Go is a 3.5 star Chinese restaurant that I never went out of my way to dine in. The usual scenario will be that I am in the immediate area and making a spontaneous choice between a few fast food restaurants to patronize. Most of the time the fast food competitors are a no-go for value and I will hit up China A Go Go for lunch. This is what occured last Sunday. I was visiting my brother up in North Las Vegas. We decided to visit Aliante Nature Discovery Park and the Aliante trail system. The Smith's Shopping Center parking lot was the trailhead. If you haven't been to this shopping center, it includes Arby's, KFC, Subway, and other eateries. China A Go Go was the winning choice. China A Go Go is just as familiar to me as Panda Express. China A Go Go is a go-to spot for decent Chinese food in the Las Vegas valley. The upshot is their locations are sprouting up across the Las Vegas Valley. Not every location is identical. At some locations you order the food at the counter and pour your own Coke beverage. But at this location, the friendly waitress greeted my brother and yours truly. She seated us and served our food. When the styrophone cup of Coke was low, she refilled it. She was friendly and made my brother and I feel welcome. Too bad I can't say that about an element of the higher priced restaurants I visited. Ordering at China A Go Go is as easy as 1-2-3. You don't even have to walk inside to glance at their menu. It is outside on the window. The luncheon menu ranges from $5.95 to $6.50 for shrimp-based entrees. I ordered the shrimp chop suey luncheon special. It included soup of the day, fried rice, and chow mien noodles. The soup of the day was the exact soup China A Go Go has been serving me for the last six years: egg drop soup. Don't get me wrong. Egg drop soup is good. But it is nothing like wonton soup. Three stars. I enjoyed the shrimp chop suey. China A Go Go was generous with the portions of shrimp. And tasty shrimp I might add. Three-and-a-half stars. The fried rice was tasty filler food. I appreciated that around 30% and not 50% of the plate (a styraphone bowl by the way) was taken up by chow mien noodles. There have been a handful of Chinese restaurants that have left me with a sour taste of the place on account of too much of the plate being taken over by filler chow mien noodles. When all is said and written, I could return to the Aliante Parkway China A Go Go when I am in the immediate area during lunch. A 3.5 star Chinese restaurant is always a candidate for a future check-in. read more

The woman who answers the phone and rings up the food is the rudest person I've encountered in the Aliante area. Over the phone I just believed she was busy, but when I got there it was two other people. Still rude. I didn't receive plastic ware and when I asked for hot mustard she gave me one and set it on the table. She rolled her eyes at me when I asked the amount of each entree of my food. I had the shrimp egg foo young and the fried rice instead of white rice (shareable portion). It was really good!! The shrimp were huge and the flavor was on point. On a different day i had the Honey Walnut Shrimp. It came w fried rice and noodles (lunch special)....i got A LOT OF FOOD for less than $10. This used to be our go to place for Chinese food in our area. Seems like the quality of food has gone down significantly this past year. Our last order was 6 months ago and the food had no flavor. We spent over $100 and said that'd be our last time because the order prior to this one was a similar experience. Yesterday, we thought we'd give them another try and spent a little over $70. The food quality was the same, no taste and bland, less meat/seafood in the dishes and higher prices. We also could taste the corn starch in the chicken and shrimp items. No, but it was ok and it hit the spot. Then, 2 days later my wife sees these guys in "dirty dining" in the news!!! I should have known something was up and went with my gut when I first walked in, the guy at the front counter looks up and pulls up his mask right away. My wife and I have ordered various items on the menu and have not been disappointed yet. I got their crispy orange beef this last time and it has become my favorite. Their chicken fried rice is very well flavored. The pot stickers with their sauce are a meal within itself. We order takeout. Food is always hot and ready on time. I walked in and saw that the lady at the counter was in a heavy discussion with a phone order. It was a lot of food and she was making sure the order was heard and written correct and was giving them the price. Once done, I proceeded with my order. Chow mein and potstickers. Paid for it. She then got involved with 2 other customers who walked in for their phone orders for pickup and payment Ten minutes later, she asked what did I order again? I told her, she forgot to put the order in. I know they had a big order and had all hands on deck with 4 people in the kitchen furiously making things. 5 minutes later she said here's your order. I forgot to remind myself potstickers take time to prepare. Usually 15 minutes. I got home and chow mein was good and hot. POTSTICKERS were burnt, dry and barely warm. She gave me these tiny dried up, bad batch leftovers that seemed to have a deep fry quality to them. To make up for it they gave me more than the usual it seemed, just to get me out the door. I so so was not impressed with this place at all. I was hungry and wanted beef peppered steak. Figured why not try a different place for once? Big, big mistake!!! It was probably one of the worst tasting beef peppered steaks I've had. Incredibly BLAND, super heavy on the onions and peppers, beef not very tender, and just downright not good at all.
