I was out in the skye pointe area today and was getting hangry since I missed my normal lunch time. I wasn't far from Asian Wok, a place I had been to several times and a place that I could count on for decent American Style Chinese food. For those that have not been there, waitress service and traditional plates have gone away. You order at the counter, get your silverware and the owner brings out your food in a take out container. (Except for the soup). It kind of makes sense, especially if you weren't planning on finishing your meal anyway since it's a pretty good size portion. Their tables and booths are still available for seating. Perhaps this way of ordering and serving cuts down on labor and certainly cuts down on dishwashing. So I ordered sweet and sour pork with lomein and crab rangoons and egg drop soup. The soup was served scalding hot which I anticipated and appreciated . So many places serve barely warm soup. The pork pieces were not overly breaded and not completely drowned in sauce. The noodles (Beijing noodles) were thick almost like spaghetti, but a different taste. Oh, and you get a small plate of fried won ton dealies while you wait. So for the price, convenience and food quality you can't go wrong for a lunch less than $11.00. read more

While the Asian Wok menu has a lot of items, my review is based on the consistency of two items - which have been my go to. First, the Egg Drop Soup I really like because it really is an egg-only soup. No corn, no carrots etc. If you're looking for a pure egg drop soup - this is it! The second dish that I really like is the Chicken and String Beans. The string beans have a nice crisp to them, there is plenty of chicken, and the sauce is really good. The portion size is also really good. The staff is very friendly, often after ordering it doesn't take too long for the food to be ready. This is a consistently good neighborhood place! read more

Asian Wok is a casual-not fancy restaurant that offers American/Chinese dishes and some Thai Dishes. You order and pay at the counter. Inside are mostly booths. Most meals come out in take out containers. They also start you off with complimentary fried crispy noodles with duck sauce. I am so happy to announce that this is the first and only American/Chinese restaurant that I've found in Las Vegas that makes East Coast Style Szechuan Chicken. It's full of all the flavors here and isn't that sweet flat Nevada style that every other similar place serves. Here the Szechuan Chicken is also packed with very nice vegetables (just like East Coast) snow peas, broccoli, zucchini, carrots, onions, bell peppers, water chestnuts, and bamboo shoots. The chicken was moist and tender. This was also a generous portion and the price was reasonable. My husband enjoyed the black pepper beef and it was made with tender beef too. The woman who was the cashier and food runner checked on us often. This isn't a fancy place and I don't feel the need to deduct a star for atmosphere since the food was that very rare very good. I happen to be in this neck of the woods and I read some good reviews. So I put the address in my GPS. This place I must say is a hidden gem in the middle of nowhere. The parking was plentiful. I was greeted quickly. I ordered 2 Egg vegetable egg rolls. Along came sweet and sour dipping sauce and crunchy straw chips. I was so surprised, the quality and taste was exceptionally good. When I return to this area I'll stop in and order a meal. The restaurant is very small, cozy, lots of booths and tables. They are open Christmas day! I saw lots of orders being prepared for take out. What in the what!?!? I always look forward to a good Chinese meal on Christmas eve and they took an hour to make it, even though they weren't busy. BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE. Then they tell me that my NY chow mein accidentally was made as chop suey instead. When the gentleman and the front asked if I would like to replace it, I said yes. He then goes to the back to tell the female cook who then goes off on him. Nothing was fixed. Before hand, and the "noodles" for the chop sue? Is just f****** wonton chips. Nothing has any flavor as of it was meant to be a buffet for trash pandas., the prices are too high, and I'm starting to wonder if this is why I see so many pets go missing in the neighborhood.... maybe that's the lure for the raccoons? I noticed on the receipt there's a " Support local fee" it's just .99c ; and then we ordered pork fried rice instead of steamed rice and paid the extra $ for that then the person from the restaurant calls me; it's another $2 for Pork fried rice . We have used this place for catering birthday parties and also weekly dinners. I swear they have the best fried wontons on earth. I liked that we could choose from the dinner combos that are served with steamed or fried rice, egg drop soup or hot & sour soup, 1 vegetable egg roll and 1 crab rangoon, and your choice of dish. The dinner combos are the best! I've eaten from this restaurant maybe half a dozen times before in the last 1.5 years, and the quality of their food has always stayed consistently good. They serve New York style Chinese food here, and that is sometimes a nice change of pace from the more traditional Chinese food in Chinatown. There aren't many good options for Asian food in the NW part of town, so it's convenient for anyone who lives here too. Portions are always LARGE or priced accordingly for the smaller portions. Dishes always have a hearty amount of sauce, but the sauces tend to be thinner, so you can easily adjust the amount of sauce on your food. Crispy wonton strips are always served for free with any dine-in meal. There are lots of menu options, so there is something for everyone here. This time, I ordered a large wonton soup and my partner ordered sesame chicken with lo mein noodle upgrade. The wontons were larger than any others I've had at other Chinese restaurants. The soup was flavorful, and there was a good ratio between wontons/soup/vegetables. The sesame chicken was flavorful with lots of sesame seeds and soft breading; there was no separation of breading in any of the chicken. Again, HUGE portion. The lo mein noodles were good enough to eat by themselves. They've switched over to a counter-serve style restaurant and reduced their seating capacity, likely to accommodate the rising costs of keeping a restaurant open nowadays. I'm assuming this is 1 way they keep their prices the same, so that's appreciated for anyone who is trying to budget financially. Service has always been friendly and timely here; I've never had to wait long to speak to someone or be served. Ambiance is a quiet space with more subtle Chinese decorations sprawled throughout. There's an even amount of lighting throughout the restaurant, but none of it is too brightly lit (noted for potentially neurodivergent customers). Ordered takeout through their third party tonight. There was a hiccup with their order website the first go round but the second time it was successful. Our food was supposed to arrive between 7:48pm and 8:05pm but arrived at 8:17pm. The delivery guy was nice and the order was hot in temperature. We ordered the potstickers which were great but the dipping sauce was a little sweet for our taste. I had the Thai spicy basil with ground chicken and it was really good. My spouse got the spicy chicken in garlic sauce but there was very little chicken in this dish, it was all peppers, onions, and water chestnuts....very disappointing! I've been going to Asian wok for a lot of years. They are the closest thing to real NY Chinese food I've had in Vegas. Food is always excellent and the people that work there are very nice. The only negative is they don't have wait service anymore. You can order your food and eat there. But you won't be served. I get my food to go anyway, so no biggie for me.
