This restaurant is by Chinatown, not far from Capital One Arena. Jose Andres has several restaurants in the District. We wanted to see how "round one" would taste before ordering other items. After serving our dish & pouring water, we didn't see the server until we were finished. He didn't ask how we were doing or if we needed anything. The atmosphere is pleasant and upbeat. There is a weekday and weekend menu. Brunch is popular on the weekend. The menu is a bit pricey. We had a nice table near the window. If you want more privacy, sit at either end of the restaurant. It gets busy and crowded in the middle. Hubby ordered an amazing pasta dish. It was flavorful and nicely plated. My quinoa was wonderful. I enjoy using lettuce to wrap items. If our server had stopped by, I would have asked for more lettuce. The desert was wonderful. The texture, flavors and plating were great. It is obvious that each dish is carefully checked before leaving the kitchen. The manager eventually stopped by. When he learned we had been ignored, he offered desert. We thought he was offering coffee as part of the apology. He was not. Our server started taking interest in us after desert, when the manager had spoken to him and we didn't need him anymore. If you don't mind spending money on a creative meal, you will find yummy dishes here. We stopped by a fast food restaurant on the way home since we didn't have that much at the restaurant.
Fun little concept of Chinese and Peruvian fusion food as the name suggests. I was eating by myself so I tried passionate fruit juice and the lomo saltado, unfortunately not the Chinese fusion food. The drink and food I'd say is pretty standard. The Lomo Saltado dish, however, I'd say that it's just a bit too salty, and the beef steak is slightly overdone, but only slightly. So I'd still give it a 4/5. Overall, I thought it's a beautiful space and nice dining experience and I'd still recommend it to others, just not on the top of my list.
Service was excellent as she made great recommendations as well as altered some items. The sashimi and dumplings were excellent. Very cool vibe.
I came on Tuesday which I realized is Dim Sum Tuesday where they have discounted items from their dim sum menu! I'll have to try that next time, but this time I got the Ceviche Nikkei, Lucky 12 (4pcs of 3 different types of siu mai), and the Aji de Gallina. My favorite was the ceviche nikkei; it was so refreshing and the tuna was the perfect texture! Out of the three types of siu mai, the siu mai tradicional was my favorite. The pollo siu mai has like a salsa in it that was very unique but not my favorite. The Aji de Gallina was very hearty and comforting. The chicken pieces themselves were fine but the stew was so delicious. The real star of the show was the dessert: ponderaciones de kiwicha! The banana ice cream it comes with was phenomenal, it pairs so well with the cocoa powder! I would come back just for dessert! The ambiance is really nice! Decor is super cute, the light fixtures are really cool! Service was great!
Honestly, it's average food at above average prices. The ambiance is what you're paying for here, because the space is pretty cool. I was surprised at how busy it was, despite the average tasting food. It is loud and difficult to have conversations, so that is worth considering. I got to sample quite a few dishes, and aside from Siu Mai, I don't think there's a single dish I would order again. I love Peruvian food and Chinese food, but this didn't work for me. The prices are not absurd by any means, but for the same money there's better places. Service was also really slow. Food came out decently fast, but it took forever to pay.
I had no idea there was another José Andres spot in a two block radius - and it was worth the visit! Our server was attentive and made a great recommendation on the cauliflower when we decided to get another dish. We especially loved the ceviche Nikkei - great flavor and texture. The Hong Kong rich noodle dish was so so compared to the rest. And the dessert - yum! Tasted like caramel with passion fruit ice on top. The decor / ambiance is both modern and also low key - they have metal chairs, and funky lights. It doesn't have the higher end feel -- if that's what you want, try Zaytinya.
Overall experience was great! I recommend getting a reservation if you're eating here between 6-8pm. Although you can make it the day of! It's family style here and my two favorite dishes were the dancing yucca and hamachi ceviche! It really brought out the two Hispanic and Asian cultures to me. I wasn't the biggest fan of the tallarin zhen fe (my husband really enjoyed it) because I thought the noodles were undercooked. The Brussels sprouts and dumplings were pretty good! Definitely coming back here to try more dishes :)
We enjoyed our weekend brunch. We order 2 ceviches to share, a tuna and octopus. All of us loved the tuna. One didnt care for the octopus. For entrees, we ordered the cheeseburger from the brunch menu which was fantastic. We didnt care for the plantain sides though. We also shared the Concolon fried rice and added shrimp, which had really interesting spices. I would come here again. Cocktails were kind of a miss though. Waitress wasnt very familiar with the cocktail menu.
We're fans of Chef José Andrés whole make the world a better place vibe and have made it our mission to try all of his DC restaurants whenever we're in town. This time up it was China Chilcano...Pervian/Asian/Spanish fusion food with lots of vegetarian options and unique things to try. We (my wife, son and I) all got variations of the tasting menu and each made different choices from the options available...and we each had different experiences. I had a bit of a "the grass is greener" experience as I tried bits of what my son had ordered and generally preferred what he got in terms of taste and texture. Universally, the food was gorgeous and presented in a photo-ready manner one would expect from this kind of establishment. The desserts were also unique and worth trying. (Often desserts at a nicer place can be standard variations of the same thing you can get anywhere...what's on the menu here is worth sticking around for as you can't get it anywhere else. I also had a Pisco Sour Cocktail...I'm a fan of trying the things that are unique to where I am...in this case, the cocktail looked and tasted great, but it had more of a standard sour vibe than anything else. If the Peruvian pisco liquor had any unique taste, I wasn't able to perceive it in this cocktail. Service was perfect.
Not one of Jose Andre's best restaurants i just admit. It's probably at the same level as Jaleo. The ceviche and Hamachi was ok nothing special. My clients enjoyed their lomo saltado and tallarines saltado. My shrimp saltado was ok but a little bland. Servers were friendly and the ambiance is nice inside with fun decor throughout the restaurant which is pretty big. I'll try other places next time I'm in the nation's capital. Would recommend you do the same.
The food at China Chilcano was absolutely delicious and full of unique, bold flavors. Every dish we tried was well-prepared, fresh, and beautifully presented. Unfortunately, the customer service did not match the quality of the food. The service was slow, inattentive, and lacked the level of hospitality you'd expect. It was difficult to get our server's attention, and we often felt overlooked throughout the meal. While the kitchen clearly delivers an excellent dining experience, the front-of-house service needs significant improvement. I would return for the food, but I hope the customer service improves because it took away from what could have been a fantastic experience.
Food was excellent, especially for dim sum Tuesday! Service was dismal. At least the host acknowledged my existence... he even had to ask if I had been served and of course no, no water yet in 90 degree heat wave. Server never came by so he even took my order. I had to flag someone down for a check and more water. I'd go here for the food, but the service was terrible.
Came here before a show at Warner Theater - a little far from the venue but not a bad walk! We started with the brussel sprouts and yucca fries - both were incredible. A bonus was their ability to accommodate for gluten allergies! For my main I got the Tam Tam with a fried egg - it was so flavorful and a perfect portion! Highly recommend for a date night or dinner with friends!
Came on a Saturday afternoon around 2. They didn't have any tables available but there was plenty of space at the bar. The foods not cheap but it was good. The individual dishes didn't really feel like a fusion. But you could order dishes from different cuisines. I would be happy to come back if someone wanted to with other good food options nearby, I probably won't be coming back. Wontons: a little bit of kick. The sauce for the wontons was definitely the star here. Very tasty. Aji de gallina: I've never had aje de gallina before. I was pretty happy with it. It's a thick sauce? that the chicken is in. The egg was delicious but you only get part of an egg. The rice was dry and sub-par. read more

Ponderaciones de Kichiwa: really good! The banana ice cream was phenomenal and the other food was also great! Not Pictured: Concolon : absolutely phenomenal , a dish shared between 2-4 ppl. You will not be disappointed! Tallarin Zhen Fe : really good spin on this dish. The portion is small but flavor is GREAT! Lomo Saltado : one of my favorite dishes of the night, each aspect of this was PERFECTION. Ceviche Classico: it was so so so so good! Loved this Ceviche much more than the ceviche Nikkei ! read more

Ended up here after a poor happy hour experience at a nearby restaurant and really glad that we did. Walked in around 7:30 pm and easily found bar seating even though the restaurant was crowded. My friend and I ordered pisco sours, kam lu wantan, and tam tam off the recommendation of the bartender. The food and drinks definitely did not disappoint. Overall a great time, and looking forward to coming back for happy hour sometime in the future. read more
This is a top notch spot for Peruvian Chinese food. The food is plentiful for family style and everything is absolutely delicious. The shrimp/pork wontons and fried rice are my two favorite dishes here. The wontons melt in your mouth and the flavor is phenomenal. The fried rice is some of the best I've had as well. The pork belly and Chinese sausage really add to the flavor, making this dish one I'll go after every time I visit. You also can't go wrong with the ceviche Classico. It's your typical ceviche and it tastes fresh! When deciding on drinks here, the pisco sour never fails...perfectly made. The staff members are nice, helpful, and quick to serve. The atmosphere is nicely decorated and casual. read more

My DC-based friends suggested this spot for our recent reunion. I've enjoyed other Jose Andres restaurants over the years but hadn't heard of this one. I wasn't sure if "Peruvian Asian Fusion" particularly appealed to me, but I trust my friends' recommendations. Holy moly! Everything was so so delicious. I only regret I didn't get to taste more of the options on this menu. My favorite things were the salmon sashimi which melted in my mouth, and the Peruvian specialty chicken dish (under "Meat & Seafood" on the menu). Delicious, unique, I'm still dreaming about this meal. And the Peruvian specialty dessert with condensed milk custard, passionfruit sorbet and meringues was off the hook! I usually go for chocolate but I wanted to try something I wouldn't get anywhere else. Service was lovely, and they were so kind when we lingered past the time the restaurant staff was going home. These are my amazing, dearest friends who I don't see often, and this meal rose to the occasion of this special reunion! read more

We dined last night for new years and could not say enough wonderful things about China Chilcano. From the ambiance to the food to the service - you all made us feel truly special on new years. I have celiac and they were MORE than accommodating making sure that I could partake in the tasting and changing the food/drink items to accommodate. The service was incredible. So kind, attentive, and really made the evening special (both server and management!) The food - my boyfriend LOVED the duck. Sadly, it was not gluten free, so I couldn't try it, but he says it was amazing. We got the fish of the day ceviche and the salmon ceviche and those were both incredible. They were able to make both of those gluten free. I recommend getting both side by side - loved the sauce of the fish of the day one (dipped the salmon in that one ;). ) Yucca fries I also dipped in the ceviche sauce... yum yum yum. Dessert. Just get it. Trust me. Pisco sour was incredible. Loved the pisco and sake selection! Can't wait to visit you all again in the new year! read more
China Chilcano is located right by the National Mall and was founded by renowned chef José Andrés. It serves up a fusion of multicultural cuisine combining Peruvian, Japanese, and Chinese flavors. There's metered street parking available but the area gets very packed since it's a popular tourist destination. I made a reservation online for Saturday evening and was seated immediately when I arrived. I'm a big fan of the interior inside: it's fun and the vibrant colors make for a welcoming, upscale casual environment. None of the dishes blew my socks off, but all of them were tasty and I was impressed with China Chilcano's take on fusion. The flavors were unique, but still felt familiar. We ordered the Tallarín Zhen Fe ($14) and Lomo Saltado ($21). The Tallarín Zhen Fe consists of cold rice cakes topped off with spices and I'd recommend adding the fried egg since it gives it a different texture. The Lomo Saltado was my favorite though. The beef filet was really tender and all the vegetables were filled with flavor since it soaked up the juices. TLDR: A vibrant restaurant that does fusion right! read more
Service - 5/5 The service at China Chilcano is remarkable for a restaurant this size - our server was warm, friendly and helpful. We appreciated how efficiently everything worked, from ordering to being able to pay on our phone. Food - 4/5 A real taste of Peru in DC. In addition to the Kam Lu Wantan and Ceviche clasico, we ordered anticuchos and seafood rice. It was all quite good, but Baramundi isn't my favorite fish for ceviche (just a personal preference). Ambiance - 5/5 Lively but not too loud! Definitely a very family-friendly environment. read more

We figured we could not wrong with another Jose Andres concept and we were not disappointed !! Peruvian and Asian. Pisco cocktail, chicken lettuce wraps followed by Hong Kong noodle dish and a Peruvian chicken stew. Dessert was shareable and delicious. Amazing flavors! His restaurant want to make me come back to DC. read more

tl;dr: super fun, great service, a delicious and plentiful variety of interesting food if you get the tasting menu, and cocktails for days. Our flight got us into DCA a little earlier (and a lot hungrier) than expected on a Friday evening last November, so we were looking for someplace fun to grab dinner. We'd been wanting to try China Chilcano for a while (love José Andrés, and love the concept of the restaurant), and fortunately there were still reservations available for the same evening, so we booked it while we were waiting at baggage claim. After settling in at our hotel, we walked to the restaurant, where our table was not quite ready on time (looked like a lot of tables were lingering that night, and frankly I can't blame them). The host staff were very apologetic; we offered to take either inside or outside seating to make things easier. Ultimately, they were eventually able to give us a great table near a window, which we really appreciated. The menu was a little overwhelming for a first visit -- so many things to try, in so many categories! -- so we decided to keep it easy and go with the tasting menu. This was an excellent choice: everything was delicious, it gave a great cross-section of the menu, and it was a TON of food. I can't recall all the courses at this remove, but most were memorable. Some particular standouts were the Dancing Yucca, the Shishito Peppers, the Siu Mai, the Causa Limeña, the Aji de Gallina, the Lomo Saltado, and the desserts. There were also a few off-menu items included in the mix. We stuck with cocktails all night and were not disappointed: everything we tried was delicious, absolutely food-friendly, and came out FAST -- especially considering how packed the restaurant was. The pisco sours were great (especially with the variety of macerados available to supplement); the Pisco Punch and 5-spice Old Fashioned were other particular standouts. Overall, we had a great time and a very memorable meal (even after all that pisco ;-). China Chilcano is going to the top of our DC restaurant rotation. read more
I have been here couple times and I was never disappointed with the food and service. Came here for on a Sunday Mother's Day weekend, restaurant was pretty crowded, fun ambience, fast service, amazing fusion food. Make sure to try out a pisco cocktail, one of the best in town. read more

Unfortunately not my favorite. I had high expectations, especially because this was the first José Andrés restaurant I've been to. My two friends and I came here on a Thursday night for dinner for my friend's birthday, and decided to order the Szechuan Chili Wontons, Papas a la Huancaína, Aeropuerto, and the Tallarín Zhen Fe. The Papas a la Huancaína were just fine, they kind of tasted like a deconstructed potato salad with an unidentifiable flavor. Probably wouldn't get this dish again. Unfortunately, the three other dishes arrived at our table lukewarm. Flavor-wise, all of them were just okay. Maybe they would've tasted better if warm. The Aeropuerto's flavor was my favorite, but it was slightly salty. And on top of that, we had to wait around 20 minutes for someone to even check on if we were liking the food. We unfortunately had to send our food back because of the temperature, and decided to try the Jiaozi de la Chacra instead. However, this was also a miss for me - the dumpling was doughy and the filling was bland and weirdly crunchy. If I was just considering the food, this review would be 3 stars. However, service was extremely slow. I'm not sure how this is possible, but the restaurant seemed simultaneously over-staffed and under-staffed. There were so many people whose sole job was to refill water and take plates, but it took so long for waiters to come by. Given that we ended up waiting for long periods of time for no real reason, I had to bump this down to 2 stars. We had originally planned to get dessert since it was my friend's birthday, but given the wait, we decided to get dessert somewhere else. I really wanted to like this place, especially considering how unique the food is, but nothing really wowed me and I left feeling really underwhelmed. Given how expensive everything is, I don't think I'd try this place again. read more

Happy to support Jose Andres! Super creative decor, Tasty bites, and one heck of a vibe. We tried to go fir happy hour, but you can only sit directly at the bar top. Was super crowded so we asked for a table. Apparently they Had so many reservations that the only place we could sit was a communal table and the ceviche bar. We chose the ceviches bar. Mind you, there were many empty tables when we arrived, and pretty filled up when we left. We got two glasses of wine, chow mein and dumpling. Just a quick snack. Food came out quickly, nice flavors, and well presented. Servers were all over to refill waters, take away plates and to check on us. Good stuff. read more

Went in because of its attractive interior. And I'm so glad we did. Interesting ambience, excellent service, and great Chinese Peruvian fusion selections. Aji de Gallina (Peru's most precious dish) and Aeropuerto were delirious; Tallarin Zhen Fe was my favorite. Even the Push Pop desert was interesting. Japanese dishes were on the menu but we didn't order. Being a José Andrés restaurant, I guess you can go wrong. read more
This place is pretty good and not too pricey. Our table of 4 got 5 dishes, which was the perfect amount. Dancing Yucca - I love yucca fries and this did not disappoint. The fries are topped with Dashi flakes and sauces that reminded me of takoyaki. This was pretty filling on its own. Jaladito Norteno Ceviche - The fish was pretty fresh and the sauce was pretty yummy. Was not a fan of the lentil-like garnish though. Tallarin Zhen Fe - This was an interesting dish, combining short rice noodles reminiscent of tteokbokki with tomato and egg. I also tasted a bit of ketchup in there. Chuafa de Pato - I was extremely excited for this dish, but was a little disappointed. The duck fried rice could have been more seasoned and flavorful. The same goes with the duck meat as well. Huachana Toast - This was my favorite dish. It's basically avacado toast topped with seasoned scrambled eggs and meat. The spicy sauce was an amazing addition to the dish. Overall, the plating was beautiful and it was nice to experience Peruvian fusion at least once in my life. read more
A bartender at another restaurant recommended this restaurant while I stayed in DC in late August. At first I was skeptical, but the restaurant that I was at when he made the recommendation was fabulous (Rose's Luxury) and he'd taken such great care of me on my birthday, I figured his suggestion was legit. And he was right!! This restaurant is a mix of traditional Peruvian, Japanese and Chinese dishes to reflect the food found in Peru. I was surprised by the menu and had the Donburi Ji Song was incredible. Also had the Suspiro Limeña for dessert. I can't even describe it, but it was the best thing. A little sweet, a little tart, light but substantial. A great finisher for dinner. And I learned it is a Jose Andres restaurant (a chef that I have much respect for his humanitarian work). The manager came over and we spoke regarding the meal and other restaurants in the DC area that I was looking at trying. And based on our discussion, the next night was another Jose Andres restaurant! read more
Wow. Everything we ordered from the dancing yuca to the ceviche to the dessert was incredibly flavorful, fresh, and such a delightful experience. The plates are big enough to share with a date or with a group. The food is satisfying without being overly saturated. I am still thinking about the balance of the tart passion fruit and condensed milk in the suspiro limena . read more

When I tell you... China Chilcano was the best way for me to start my 2022 Foodie Reviews off... This was Date Night for me and my Best Friend & Foodie Companion.... Our waiter was beyond amazing... I truly enjoy a waiter that not only knows the menu inside and out, but they truly describe the food & drinks giving you a preview and even a little history about the food... and Nick Did Not Disappoint... Majority of our food selections were suggestions made by Chef Kenney and everything was great. We started the evening off with the Dancing Yucca, that were so good I was mad... I mean, I just did not want them to be that dog-gon good. They were definitely good with the brown sauce versus the mayo. I wanted to eat them all. My date and I then shared the Sanguche de Pescado, which were these warm crispy buns filled with a fish and a salsa that was refreshing with a hint of cilantro. Next, we tried the Salmon Tiradito, a ceviche that was refreshing and tasty. We also tried the Siu Mai, the chicken dumplings. These were my choice, which were good but they were not my favorite of the night, there was no wow factor... I personally do not eat sushi, so my date enjoyed the combination Sashimi, she said it was amazing...We then shared two of Chef Kenney's recommendations, the Camaron Saitado Maestro Wong and the Lomo Saltado. While these both were good, of the two my favorite was the Lomo Saltado. I recommend having your beef cook at a medium rare. The meat was so tinder and married well with all the other flavor combinations of this dish. As a Pastry Chef, I wanted to order all the desserts... AND I did... lol Considering this was the week after Restaurant Week, they were still offering their Restaurant Week dessert, which I cannot recall the name. It was a bowl of plantains served with a banana foam moose on top. I will be honest and say this was my least favorite dessert. We then tried the Suspiro Limena, an iconic dessert of Peru, and that it was, ICONIC... The passion fruit ice chips totally brought all these flavors together... I completely enjoyed the Peruvian Chocolate Cream that was of the Ponderaciones de Kiwicha. I will share a secret that my date discovered, she took pieces of the fried spiral cookie and dipped in the sweetened condensed milk of the Suspiro Limena... It was SOOO GOOD. For our cocktails, we both had the Pisco Punch. We choose different flavors for our Pisco Sour, I enjoyed the passion fruit but my date did not like the Pineapple. But if you are looking for a nice sweet cocktail go for, the Pisco Punch. Based on the ambiance, customer service, and the taste of the cuisine, I would give this location a 10. Chef Jose Andres, really out did himself with this one... I will definitely be back. read more
Super unique cuisines are hard to come by on my island, let alone a Chinese Peruvian restaurant. 'Excited' is probably an understatement for what I was feeling when it finally came time to head over to China Chilcano. I'm very familiar with Chinese culture and food and knew there's a large population of Chinese in Peru, but as far as Chinese Peruvian cuisine goes, I truly had no idea what to expect. I came here with a group of coworkers and first impressions? Damn this place is hella cool. Super unique, super trendy decor. From the artwork on the wall that served as a focal point to our dining room to the red hanging glass light fixtures, I liked, I liked. We got our menus quickly and I had my heart set on the Menu Al Paso so that I could try a little bit of everything. You get your choice of a non-alcoholic beverage, an appetizer, entree, & dessert. All for a cool $22. It's a steal if you ask me! For my drink, I went for the chicha morada, Peru's iconic (purple) corn and pineapple beverage. The chicha morada was a little different for me. Not in a bad way, but just a mix of flavors that I'm not accustomed to. For my appetizer, I got the siu mai pollo, a chicken filled dim sum that is paired with a black vinegar dipping sauce. Oh my, yum! They were bite sized and the perfect amount for 1 person. It went deliciously well with the sauce! The main event was the aji de gallina, a chicken stew that came with fresh cheese, pecans, & rice. This was amazing. It's the first time I've had those flavor combinations and wow, they totally hit the spot. The chicken was so moist and tender and if I didn't have an appetizer, I would've demolished the whole bowl. We ended our meal with the suspiro limena, an iconic Peruvian dessert with a name that is literally translated to "Sigh of the lady from Lima." It's a sweetened condensed milk custard (dulche de leche anyone?) on the bottom and topped with meringue & passion fruit. I loved it and couldn't think of a better way to end our meal. Everything from beginning to end was absolutely delish! Shout out to Jonathan T. for doing the leg work and finding this cool spot for us! It would have otherwise slipped through my radar, but I'm glad it didn't. I would highly recommend a stop here for a solid meal that doesn't break the bank. read more

The food tastes good, the service was good too. The only bad thing was that there's a piece of hard cinnamon in the noodle dish and I very unfortunately bit down on it... it was not a small piece of cinnamon to bite down... I highly recommend carefully chewing your food and maybe the kitchen can be more careful about sifting their spices with a fine mesh... read more

After last night's dinner, I'm honestly confused as to why this place made Eater's list of 38 must eat places in DC. I had actually been eyeing this place for a while, so once it popped up on Eater's list, I made reservations when some relatives were in town. We ordered a bunch of small dishes, plus two noodle/rice dishes. The small plates we ordered were the octopus ceviche, xiao long bao (soup dumplings), pork belly and sweet potato bao buns, and jaleo mixto (mixed a seafood). The small plates, I will say, were tasty. The XLB was juicy with cute little squeeze-y things containing the black vinegar. The octopus was very tender, and the bao buns were cooked until they had a little bit of a crispy outside, which I liked. Everything was pricey for the portions ordered, but we expected that. The larger rice and noodle plates are what made me go HUH?! We ordered the Tam Tam noodles (which are their take on peanut Dan Dan noodles) and the Arroz a la Cubana. The Tam Tam noodle dish had about 10 noodles in it (wtf) and also tasted like hamburger helper. Not good at all. The Arroz a la Cubana was completely flavorless. The description indicates that it was fried rice topped with plantain, pork belly, egg, cucumber, and tomato. The rice was not fried, and instead white and undercooked. The other toppings were simply placed on top with not an ounce of seasoning, not even soy. I would never eat either of the rice and noodle options again and highly suggest that everyone else steer clear. For the $200 dinner bill (incl. tax and tip), this was definitely not worth it. We were at the table debating if we were going to go grab food on the way out. The only saving grace for me not giving them two stars was the ceviche. Disappointing. read more
Honestly, one of my favorite restaurants I've been doing a very long time. Every single person serving us food knew everything about the menu. We had so many questions, and every single one got answered in thorough detail. The food itself is absolutely fabulous. Every single item was a new twist on a classic flavor. Overall experience - (3.5/5) Food (3/5) - The food was honestly pretty disappointing. Nothing really stood out and everything was pretty underwhelming. See individual descriptions below. Atmosphere (5/5) - The interior of the restaurant is very nice and very nice vibes. The decorations are excellent and there are plenty of seats. Service (5/5) - Servers were very attentive and friendly. Never had to wait for anything! I got 3 items: The Sanguche de Pescado (2/5) - This was very underwhelming. The bun was very nicely fried and still very soft. However, everything was very flavorless and the fish was very small. The Lomo Saltado (3/5) - This was recommended to me and overall it was alright. The steak was perfectly medium rare, but not tender at all. In fact some pieces were chewy and some were tough. The sauce was also a bit salty. The Suspiro Limena (3.5/5) - Best thing I had here. It was very unique. A mixture of sweetness (similar to caramel) and tartness from the passion fruit (kind of like a slush). Finishing one by yourself is a little much though. read more

came for a quick lunch and got the lucky 12 dim sum. the dim sum were just okay. obviously no where as good at a dim sum restaurant. but what was really good was the chicha morada. I would come back just for that. read more

If you're looking for great vibes, and the most aesthetically pleasing place to grab drinks and dim sum at -- visit !! Great selection of Peruvian Piscos and had a delicious Kyoto Green Tea Gin KI NO TEA & Fever Tree! The yucca fries were good, but I'm a hardcore sauce person so if you want the bottom fries to have some sauce maybe ask for it on the side! The Kam Lu Wantán was bomb, I loved the hoisin tamarind sauce which really made it special! &&& Try their Lomo Saltado!!! loved the food and ambiance!!! great vibes here and delicious food!!! pisco sour (9/10) solid drink. dancing yucca (9.5/10) i loved the flavors and texture, probably my favorite dish of the night. song ji donburi (8.5/10) delicious as well, super flavorful. aji de gallina (8/10) really good too, nothing to write home about but a very solid dish. service was decent :) everything on the menu looked so good! will definitely be back read more
if you're looking for an interesting, different experience, this is the place to be! the decor is a little eccentric, in a good way, and the space is large! It was so lovely so be surrounded by such care and thought that is placed into the interior. what's more, they are so family friendly! my friends and i came with a stroller and it was no hassle at all! we also saw lather small children. some people on dates, families and just friends have brunch and lunch. the menu is specified by the region (chinese, japanese, or peruvian) but the dish is still fusion. the food was just gorgeous and so delicious. we shared the Dancing Yucca (Japanese seasoning on yucca fries) and it can with a large pyramid of fries! we absolutely loved it. we were all satisfied! my friend had the ceviche and she loved it. i had the donburi song ji, and the kong pow was yummy, balanced with avocado! who knew these flavors would all work so well together. come in with a mind for different and no palate expectations, except yummy, and you will be pleased! read more

Excelente, muyyyyyy bueno la verdad. El servicio muyyyy bueno. Nuestra mesera fue super cortes y respetuosa. La dama que servia el agua muy atenta, tomábamos un trago de agua y corría a servir los vasos. Muyyy atentos. El lugar muy bonito y agradable. Los baños impecables. La comida estaba muyyyy rica, no tengo ningún pero. Pedimos un arroz con pork belly que estaba muy rico, diferente. El lomo salteado estaba espectacular, sobretodo la salsa por su espesor! En las estadas aprovechamos el happy hour y pedimos las yucas ( que estaban una locuraaaa con esas dos salsas y ese bonito seco ahumado encima, uaoooo!) y las otras dos entraditas estaban también ricas y el postre muyy sabroso también, nos pedimos el suspiro limeño y estaba muy bueno sobretodo el sorbete de encima estaba muy rico. This place had amazing food, and we had speedy service. I would give it five stars, but unfortunately, our waiter was rude. The waitstaff has a tendency to take your drinks away before you've finished them, because they clear the tables between courses. I let our waiter know that one of the waitstaff had taken my drink before I was finished with it and he smirked at me and walked off. He did not offer to replace or even say sorry. I didn't ask for a discount or a replacement, but I expected at least an apology. Other than that interaction, everything was good and I would reccomend this place. I hope that waiter was just having an off night. read more

Some of the tables had a great vibe for groups, huge, behind a fun reed wall and including with lazy susans. If I came with a group I'd ask for that. Some were sort of in Siberia - my daughter and I moved from our "assigned" table to a more comfy, and cute one by the window. Cutely decorated overall. I enjoyed my Pisco sour, the bao buns (brunch only), and yucca. The yucca was very dressed with sweet, salty and smokey (the shaved pork). Pretty good! We also ordered a spicy noodle dish (tam tam with pork) and a spicy wontons - and didn't finish either. They, together, just blended in heat. We should have rounded out our meal with just one of them and a veg, maybe the brussel sprouts. My daughter loved the bun, but didn't like the texture of the wonton (thin and slippery). I told her that's why people like it more in soup. Tbh, I felt the same. The menu is massive - very shareable. Would have loved a little more guidance on how to make a nice, round order for two with balanced flavors, since it's kind of an Asia meets tapas house. I'd go back with a group. Nice gelato place across the street, and couldn't be more convenient to the Smithsonian National Gallery of Art, Sculpture Garden and midway on the mall. read more

How is the parking situation? Especially for Friday's night. Thank you.
Our rez was for 9pm and we found street parking around the corner. There's also lots you can pull into around the corner. But cars were pulling in and out on the street so give it a shot first.
Is there pet friendly seating? We have a small dog
Yes they have outdoor seating that allows for space for a dog!
Is there normally a line for lunch?
No. We've walked right in and seated right away a few times....never a line at lunch time in my experience.
