We did take out here with a great assortment of dishes: Crab cheese puffs Peking duck with bao and plum sauce Tangy lemon chicken Spicy garlic eggplant Fried rice with vegetables Vegetable Chow mein House chow mein Peking duck was fabulous! Crab cheese puffs were excellent (just not enough of them). Loved the lemon chicken, and although I don't like eggplant, this spicy garlic was great disguising the eggplant! Both chow meins were yummy. Can't decide which one I liked the best. I didn't feel like a needed to drink a lot of water after eating which sometimes I feel like after Chinese food. That's a good thing. Definitely going to make this place a go-to for Chinese food!

Go-to Chinese comfort spot China Chili serves up Cantonese, Szechuan, and Hong Kong-style dishes in a classic, no-frills setting. I've been here for both lunch and dinner, but lunch is my usual, fast, easy, and always hits. My favorite: House Special Chicken (not spicy) -- yes, I'm a wimp but it's flavorful and perfect every time. Service is always quick and friendly, which makes it an easy go-to.

This place has been staying steadily in business for awhile. And always busy when I am dining here. Spacious inside, with aquariums of fish and decor that let's you know you are at a Chinese restaurant. Staff is always helpful and fast. As is the food, hot and fast. Which is always an easy best to return. Their Kung Pao shrimp is always satisfyingly good. Jumbo prawns sauteed with dried chili peppers, bamboo shoots, and water chestnuts and spicy Kung Pao sauce, then topped with peanuts. It comes with soup of the day and a vegetable roll, as this is their lunch special. Doesn't break the bank and tasty all around.

Had lunch with some coworkers (about 7 of us) and we all had a lunch special. I chose the tangy chicken again (sauce on the side) it was soo good! Service was prompt and friendly. Love getting lunch here!! I hope to visit more often this year cause it never disappoints

What a freaking gem. Came here for the first time and can genuinely say this is the best Chinese food spot in Phoenix, probably Arizona. Walked in and was immediately transferred back to the old school Chinese restaurants back east. We did the Phoenix dinner for 2 and substituted the pork for orange chicken. Everything was absolutely delicious. First came out the salad which was super flavorful and fresh. Fresh lettuce, noodles, amazing dressing and super tender chicken slices. It came with two wontons which were also soo good. Perfectly crisp and filled with a cream cheese stuffing that complimented the salad perfectly. Hot and sour soup was next and while that's not usually my favorite soup, it was great and had depth in the flavor. Then came our entrees, huge in size and definitely worth the price. The kung pao chicken had delicious flavor and veggies were perfectly cooked. The fried rice was not your average, it had chicken, shrimp and the most tender beef. The orange chicken was definitely my favorite. You can tell they use breast and the crisp on the outside was so perfect, sauce was sweet with a little kick, just perfect. Service was insightful, quick and friendly. I think my bf had his sprite filled at least 3 times and I was asked if I wanted another coke at least 5 The ambiance is authentic yet casual with Chinese art and tapestry on the walls, fish tank, etc. We will definitely be back.

Soooo Even tho there are tons of Chinese options in AZ. This one by far exceeds them all You know when you arrive that its going to be authentic fresh & delicious we dont live close enough to go alot.....when on this side of town its our go to .....best Chinese

i haven't eaten from here in about two years, which makes me feel like somewhat of a cheater. however, the food still tasted as great as it did the first time! this go-around, i ordered beef egg foo young (been craving the dish for a WHILE, and was satisfied to have my wish fulfilled) with jasmine rice. i was pleasantly surprised to see that my order was followed exactly to the letter, and there were no mistakes or missing items. my only itch was that it was a tad greasy, but obviously no one's eating here for the health benefits. i'm proud to say that i ate my plate clean last friday. :)

The food has always been very good every time we visit. Which sadly isn't that often because it's a drive to get there. If I lived closer I'd eat there at least twice a week. The service is efficient because everyone shares the load. You don't just have one server. The ambiance is your typical large dining hall Chinese restaurant. A large open room with various sized tables with the typical paper table covers and zodiac paper place mats. If you don't know the vibe you don't get out for Chinese much. On to the food. For appetizers we got the BBQ pork slices. Very good but not anything great or special. I'd stick with the pot stickers for my appetizer of choice. Get the pork in an entree or the fried rice. For our soup choice we went with the sizzling rice soup. Very good with sliced chicken breast and veggies. And the rice actually sizzles. Since unlike some other restaurants it doesn't have shrimp or pork I might choose something else next time. Entrees. The star of the show in my opinion and others is the orange chicken. Not your standard chunks breaded and fried soaked in a sweet sugar syrup but a full chucked breast breaded and fried to a perfect crisp then sliced like a katsu and covered in a slightly sweet and slightly spicy sauce with hint of orange. I could eat this all by myself and be happy. Next we got the Mongolian Beef. Average. Not great, not bad, just average. Too saucy with too many onions. Nothing compares to China Chef in Morton Grove, IL. The pork fried rice. Pretty good with lots of bbq pork. Way more than you get in the slices. My only gripe with most places is there's no place for carrots and peas in fried rice. Bean sprouts and scallions is the way to go. But here it's the frozen veg carrots and peas combo. Oh well. Next time I think it will be mu shu pork instead of Mongolian and hot and sour instead of sizzling rice soup. One other comment. Like most restaurants in AZ. The egg rolls are really spring rolls. Hard pass as real egg rolls have won ton wrapper skins, shrimp and bbq pork with a hint of peanut butter in them. Outside of NY or Chicago I've never found the real deal.

Always served hot. Portions are large. Very tasty and great service. Very clean on the inside.

The portions here are so big, we got a two person combo and had leftovers for two people. My favorite was the Honey Walnut Shrimp, wish it was crispier though. Probably the best fried rice I've had in awhile! Picked up some food to bring to the hospital. I ordered over the phone amd was ready by the time I got there. I ordered the shrimp lo mein. The dish was flavorful, the noodles were perfect, and came with a great amount of shrimp. The vegetable fried rice was also a great balance. Not too greasy. Light and tasty. Lastly, the house special chicken was very filling. The chicken chunks alone were huge. It actually tasted like real chicken too. The sauce was light and probably could've used more sweet chili flavors. Over all it was great experience. I'd bring my husband back to try more items!

The location, service, and ambiance - absolutely 5 stars! However, the food is a bit ok the salty side for me, hence the 4-star rating. As the photo shows, we ordered some meat dishes and some veggie dishes. The eggplant with chicken was my favorite. The pan fried noodles' dish is crispy and flavorful. We ordered a couple vegetarian dishes for a friend who is vegan and she felt accommodated with the Kai Lan and mixed vegetables that were picked out for her. I'll probably go back only if a meeting or a banquet is being hosted there. Side note: Parking could be a bit tricky for large banquets.

Best Chinese in Phoenix maybe even the entire valley. Favorites include the lemon chicken, Szechuan style green beans, sizzling rice soup, crab puffs, jasmine tea but really everything is good. Haven't been open since the covid shut downs. Hopefully, they will open back up soon. I will be super devastated if this took them out. Come back China Chili! Come back! read more

Most items can be modified/customized to your dietary plan, the egg rolls are magic, there is a variety of protein options, and the beer/wine/tea offerings are a great accompaniment to their heartfelt food. We love the food at China Chili, but this past Saturday we went for my husband's 81st birthday. His choice of restaurant and we all agreed!! There were five of us - one daughter and two teen grandchildren. It took 25 minutes from the time our grand daughter's dinner arrived to the time out daughters dinner arrived. At this point everything was cold and the rice still did not come out. We asked many times for the food to come out at for all to enjoy and to please bring the rice. Nothing was done. We asked four times to speak to a manager and non showed up. It was a very disapointing meal as most were finished before the others even received their meal. It will be a long time before we go back, if ever. I think what was so upsetting was that we asked so many time for the manager and kept getting a Yes, Yes and the manager didn't care enough to come to our table to see what the problem was. read more

Today is my second experience with China Chili and I absolutely love their vegetable fried rice. It's not made in a huge batch that they serve out of all day. They make it to order & allow personal specifications (i.e. no bean sprouts) That's awesome!! The first time I ate there, I had some egg drop soup which was a little different because they put diced tomato in it. Wasn't too keen on that, but it was ok otherwise. My fiance had the Orange Chicken but said he didn't really enjoy the chicken. We ended up packing both of these and donating to someone who looked hungry. It wasnt terrible, just wasnt our taste. I also ordered the crab cheese puffs last time. Ordering them again this time because they were soo yummy!! I'm so excited to eat dinner here again =) read more

China Chili does the trick for me, as a native Californian missing all my good Chinese eats. It could be more flavorful, more "authentic," tasting, but it does the job and satisfies the taste buds and belly. Some of my favorites are: mapo tofu, green beans, spicy eggplant with fried tofu, and the salt and pepper pork. I've only ever gotten take out and delivery so I don't know what the ambiance is like at the restaurant, but it always looks like there's a full lot, which should be a good sign. read more

We ordered carry out of a couple orange chicken dishes and Mongolian beef. The orange chicken dish was not good. They took a breaded chicken piece chopped it and poured the sauce on top. It wasn't individual pieces of chicken. The sauce didn't taste like it usually does and didn't have a good flavor. We have visited this location for dine in a few times but had never done carry out. We won't be doing that again. read more

Some of the best everyday Chinese food I've ever had. Nothing fancy, but tasty, savory, spicy! Portion size is good and prices are fair. Enjoyed the House Special Chicken, Garlic String Beans and Fried Tofu, and House Chow Mein. If they were in San Diego, they'd be on the top of my list weekly. Will be back on my next trip to Phoenix! read more

A bit disappointed with the taste of food here, as the restaurant really looks inviting, authentic with great and fast customer service. Hot and sour soup was good. My Mongolian beef lacked spices and a kick. Egg foo young was swimming in a sauce that could have had more depth in flavor. Still looking for good Chinese in Phoenix. read more

I'd heard a lot of good things about China Chili, and decided it was time we checked it out. Now the setting is great. Beautiful inside, the server was friendly, but the food itself was very average and a little overpriced. I wanted to give this place a 5-star review, but I feel like I'd be lying to myself and anyone reading this. My friend and I were interested in trying a new place in Phoenix and we found this through yelp. Rated high so I was looking forward to it. It's a nice, older Chinese restaurant. Decor is a bit outdated but it felt like a throwback to one of my favorite Chinese restaurant. Service was nice. Not overly attentive but enough. We ordered beef fried rice, salt and pepper pork chops and house chicken. Every dish was delicious. It felt like a lot of compare and contrast to other places we've been but we thoroughly finished everything. We liked how the fried rice had more eggs then most places. We like how the seasoning of the pork chops was on the batter and not the meat. Tasty! The chicken was crispy and the sauce had the right amount of garlic to it. Order it on the side not on top! Overall, I enjoyed the place. A tad bit pricey compared to others but good food. We'll come again in the near future to try other dishes. read more

AMAZING Chinese food. Good Chinese food is hard to come by. My boyfriend and I came here and ordered the House fried rice, chicken chow mien, and orange chicken. The organs chicken is to die for! Soooo crispy ! We've been back twice now; each time I forget to take pictures. I'll be sure to do that next time & update my review! The customer service is good. Each time we came it was super busy, but the waitresses work really hard and we've always received our food in a timely matter! read more

We live nearby so this is our go-to chinese spot. After years of hit and misses, here are the best plates: house fried chicken- get sauce on the side( won't soggy up or be too salty, dip that) , honey walnut shrimp- ask for extra walnuts, salt and pepper squid or shrimp - ask for extra garlic, mongolian beef - easy on the onions, sizzling rice soup. read more

To each their own. Maybe cause I grew up in NY? We love Chinese food. And I was hoping this would finally be the place. Honestly in my personal experience I'm not that impressed. Gets 1 star for ambiance, 1 more star because it's an actual restaurant with servers. And the third star is for their menu of choices and some of the items we ordered were pretty good. But why not 4 or even 5 stars... Well..I ordered their house chicken with fried rice. Looked great but no flavor. My daughter ordered Orange chicken, looked exactly the same as my dish but the sauce had a hint of orange..which was not bad but not impressed. Mom had Mongolian beef..tasty but nothing to scream off the top of a mountain. Which is what I was hoping for...from at least one dish. On the other hand their pot stickers was the only and one thing I would go back for, handmade, hearty and flavorful. Also, the server highly recommended the salt and pork dish for us to take home to my Dad...let's just say it went back in the box and has been in the fridge for a while..sorry. read more

Ordered China Chili for a to go order. The service was quick and easy over the phone. The food took about 10 minutes and was ready when I arrived. The food was absolutely wonderful! Although the restaurant is dated the food is really high quality. I also think the amount of food was worth the money. Quantity and quality make this place a new favorite. read more

This has to be one of my favorite Chinese places in town.. they make some very special dishes that I just crave!!! Boiled Wantons Salt and Pepper Shrimp Orange Chicken Ive had other things but for me these dishes are just bursting with flavor! Plus the service is great! I hear that in China, people can be very pushy, even rude, by American standards, shouting across a dining room, ordering their servers around. Don't worry, no such behavior will be necessary here. All the servers are speedy and attentive. Expect to order drinks within seconds of sitting down and food arrives faster than McDonald's. One of the cleanest and largest Asian restaurants I've seen. They have family sized tables with a huge turntable in the middle. Lunches are large enough to share and dinner is family style. The shrimp dishes are particularly exceptional, large and always de-veined. Try the "prawns with vegetables" or "honey walnut prawns." Sizzling black pepper beef is great too. read more

My family and I always go here as a Christmas Eve tradition and this year was no different! The food is amazing, the portions are HUGE, and I love the staff here! The atmosphere is lovely and the quality of the food is immaculate as usual. My go to Christmas order is the Peking duck (with buns of course!), orange chicken (super flavorful), kung pao chicken, and Mongolian Beef. I highly recommend the orange chicken because the sauce is sweet and bursting with flavor and the chicken is crispy which is the perfect combo. If you're more into tender meat with the perfect amount of seasoning, try the Mongolian beef (there's a healthy amount of onions that will satisfy your veggie needs). I always see the staff hard at work and it's definitely worth the wait. The cashier was super kind and helped us get our order and one of the staff even gave my little sister some fortune cookies while we waited!! So sweet of them! 100/5 Love them :) read more

One of top three Chinese in Phoenix appears to be family run and every appetizer and entree we had was simply outstanding. My only complaint is that the phone is always busy. That's what's called a high class problem. Fair prices great service first rate food. Have to try the orange chicken.. read more

Some of the best Chinese I've had. My family and I would frequent Sing high downtown, or Golden Wok, as a kid. This place reminds me of those memories and good food. Friendly staff, and great food. We had pot stickers, orange chicken, mu shu pork, black pepper chicken and the house chow mein and NOTHING was disappointing! read more

Wonderful quality food. They have a delicious WonTon Peanut Soup Appetizer that we frequently enjoy. Huge giant shrimp here that is also great. Their Kung Pao is also wonderful. Very good service and the atmosphere is very nice. Recommend them without reservation. (No pun intended!) read more

Came in for lunch with a very close friend , I ordered the sizzling rice soup and the fried prawns for an appetizer. Both were quite tasty,the prawns were quite large,and not overly breaded.The soup was very tasty , and much like other reviewers , we barley finished when the main courses came out. I ordered the kung pau beef, my companion ,the snow white chicken . Both were very good, and the portions were so large ,we both had an extra meal out of it. Would definitely come back again, although, I do question the claim of best Chinese in Phoenix. read more

China Chili came highly recommended by a friend. We've lived in Central Phoenix for years and never tried it. Tonight we did and we regret it. Potstickers were doughy like they were fried and sat under a lamp for a long time. House chow mein was really saucy with what-we don't know, with the absolute minimum of protein (2 shrimp, never saw any beef, some small pieces of chicken). Some months ago, my boyfriend took me out for dinner at China Chili and I've been hooked ever since! The food is fabulous! The portions are excellent and I've yet to have something I didn't like. My favorite is the Orange Chicken and the Hot & Sour Soup. These two items have become a staple in our diet. I'm also all about those cream cheese crab puffs, shrimp lo-mein, and the house fried rice. I've turned several people onto this place and everyone tells me the same thing: OMG! We had the most delectable dinner yesterday as we celebrated the Chinese New Year! We ordered the Peking duck with a side of steamed buns, Singapore noodles (curry), and the garlic eggplant side dish. The whole meal was outstanding! This is one of my reviews that I struggled with writing, not because of the business...but because I didn't want anyone else to know. I must have put off this review for weeks as I enjoyed dish after dish of their delicious beef fried rice and spicy eggplant. The only thing that changed my mind and why I've decided to share this hidden gem is because they can handle the volume. Even on a Friday night where they had over 100 people in their sitting area, I called for a take out order and they said 15 minutes! Every other time I call it is usually 10 minutes, but to be totally slammed and only have the wait go up 5 minutes is amazing. So here are the dishes as I love em: - Beef fried rice, no peas, no carrots. I swear I could eat a whole order by myself, but my thighs would hate me in the morning. - Spicy eggplant...perfect mixture of tangy and spicy. Fell in love the first time I got it. - Honey walnut shrimp. Very good. I've tried various other dishes, had family over from Hong Kong and everyone can vouch for the authenticity of the taste. Do not hesitate about this place. The other reason I've decided to review this place is because I never want it to go out of business, I want to enjoy for years to come. read more

This place serves pretty authentic Chinese food. And it's a place that can serve a huge group of people for a special event. My family and I did all the ordering. Some of the dishes we ordered included House Special Chow Mein, Peking Duck, China Chili, and Tofu with Cha Sui, Pork Fried Rice, Singapore Noodles, Salt and Pepper Pork Chops, Egg and Shrimp. And I am happy to say these dishes were all great selections. We ordered everything non-spicy because most of our guests cannot tolerate spicy. We just had the spice bottles on the side. Overall, the service here was pretty great; the staff got things done quickly. The food was good and were at great affordable prices. Parking can be terrible, especially during the rush hour times. And lastly, the restaurant was surprisingly clean for a Chinese Restaurant. read more

I have been loyal to Chinese Restaurant in the past BUT China Chili stole me away from my previous regular. Been going for the past 4 years. Dinner is their strong suit as the kitchen is going full steam ahead with a consistent food product that is freshly prepared. No MSG. Their specialty menue is authentic. The Best and truist representation of Peking Duck in town, not greasy at all but moist and delightful serviced with Rice Pancakes! Go for it. The service is emaculate! Ask for my waiter Jung (young). First time at China chilli I have found the food to be a bit bland and in need of more seasoning, rating it 3 out of 5. However, the customer service was outstanding, with multiple servers attending to the tables. The restaurant's cleanliness and maintenance was spot on. Additionally, the quick service, with food arriving in 5 to 10 minutes, was much appreciated. I contacted China Chili to cater our office Holiday Party (it was a suggestion from a coworker) and they did not dissappoint. They were friendly on the phone and accomodated my substitutions when I placed the order. They showed up 10 minutes early and the food was DELICIOUS. It's not easy to please 20 people with only 4 dishes but they did, and did it well. Best of all, it was the cheapest catering bill we've ever had. I have gone to this location for lunch and dinner, probably around 30 times in the last 10 years. I am from back east, and have been enjoyed Chinese food there quite frequently. This location has the closest to the style I'm used to eating. The restaurant has ample seating, and Has a wide selection of food tastes for your whole family. Great for a business lunch or meal for a date or for the whole family. read more

Unfortunately, I did not enjoy the food. I gave it a few tries, but each time my meal fell short. The flavors and overall quality were disappointing. I would recommend trying a different Asian restaurant. This place seems more focused on moving customers in and out quickly rather than providing a relaxed dining experience, and I felt rushed throughout my dinner. read more

Great food the shrimp was huge!!! The food was wonderful! Our server was the best right there when you needed her, and she was super friendly. She taught us some Chinese, and was very helpful with our menu selection. Did I mention how big the shrimp was? Everything was good, I have no complaints! I tried China Chili today based on friends' recommendations and I thought it was good, but not necessarily great. True, it was a bit more spicy than the majority of local asian food, but I wouldn't say it was an exceptional experience. Would I eat there again? Yes. Would I drive out of my way for it? I have always liked this place until the last 2 visits. We ordered shrimp friend rice, and it came with 2 tiny shrimp. Our entree's always were lacking in meats . This was very disappointing for the $$ we paid for the crappy portions. Both times we told the management, and both times they ignored our complaint. read more

We were not 100% sure when we walked into this place but this restaurant blew that with amazing food and service. Our thanksgiving dinner!!! The Mongolian beef was the best that we ever had.
