Best Chinese restaurant we've had in Phoenix! Another fantastic recommendation from my wonderful hairdresser. We went early on a Friday evening and were seated right away, though the place was filling up by the time we finished. We ordered wonton soup, spring rolls, orange chicken, and General Yang's shrimp--everything was excellent!! We were on our way to a game so I didn't try the wine, but they had an impressive selection. The portions were generous, the prices were very reasonable. We'll definitely be back soon!

I may have been to George Yang's Restaurant a few times in the past 8 years. Used to be the Golden Phoenix. Nephew and I shared House Chicken & Mongolian Beef for an early dinner. Large menu, modern decor, prices were moderate as were portion sizes. service was excellent. Food was very tasty. I expect portion sizes need to be smaller as margins are low and food prices are higher. George Yangs Restaurant is probably one of the best Chinese Restaurants in the area. All good here!

SUCH GOOD FOOD! The quality was amazing and the flavor was unreal! We got takeout and the egg drop soup was amazing!! The green beans are a must!! Flavorful and crunchy! The food itself was fresh and hot for it being takeout! Such a great restaurant to find, great service and a cute little space! Will be returning!

Came here to try them for some take out because every time we're in the area they're always busy therefore we had to check them out! It was mid evening when we picked up our order & they weren't too busy as our freshly made food was coming out of the kitchen packed nicely in a box for carrying! I got the wonton soup which was delish as it had fresh spinach leaves & actual slices of bbq pork in the soup as it's supposed to be, plus can't forget the side of freshly made wonton strips to throw in the soup! ;) My hubby had the gyoza & they were perfectly made, I tried one they were delish! Then we got the special fried rice that had the chicken, bbq pork & about 6 large shrimp in it.... they were extremely generous & it was very good, next time though I'll be requesting bean sprouts thrown in! My carnivore hubby had to sample some protein, lol so he got the wings with the special sauce, he liked the wings yet his complaint was the sauce ended up making the breading soggy... next time salt & pepper wings he'll try. My husband's favorite was the sliced bbq pork & with that I definitely agree with because they were perfectly cooked & moist! Overall everything was freshly made & delicious & we'll definitely make our way back there for some more take out! The inside dining is pretty big & well spaced out with their table placement... plus from what I saw very well kept & clean. This restaurant is a definite keeper if we're ever craving some great Chinese food!

Amazing New York Style Egg Roll!
    Ann L.

We loved this Chinese restaurant. I have a hard time finding something I like at most Asian places in Phoenix but this place tastes so much like NY style. We came right before the Friday night dinner rush and had amazing service by the staff. The interior is dark but very elegant. If you love NY style egg rolls, this is the place to be. Crunchy and fresh with a hint of peanut sauce, so so good! Don't miss to dip them in the duck sauce. Yum! We also ordered the orange chicken and it did not disappoint. Hard to find fresh orange chicken with the right texture and taste. I loved it! It's just too bad they are not in the west valley, but I'll drive the extra distance any time to have this amazing food!!

We came here last Sunday for family dinner and what a great restaurant! The food is so good. Definitely a fine choice for big groups. The entire table loved all the food. The orange chicken and salt and pepper chicken were my favorites. The gyoza pan fried was a perfect starter. Our server Tony was very attentive. Would recommend!

This was my first visit, but it definitely won't be my last! The service was excellent, and the food was well-prepared and was delivered quickly to our table. Parking is a little tricky as it's a popular lunch spot. I had the Pad Thai lunch special and it was a little different than what I was used to. Instead of the spicy flavor it had citrus overtones but it was delightfully different!

Spicy Tofu with Asian Vegetables, bland

What I ordered , was just okay . I did end up liking the dish my boyfriend got more than mine ( kung pow chicken ) . I try to stick with veggies and tofu ( usually these dishes are well seasoned ). This one missed the mark for me and was served cold . Inside was a good amount of people . They also have a back room for events , a well lit up small bar , and a wine cellar . There is an once cream shop in the same shopping center and plenty of parking :) The servers were all sweet , but I won't be back due to lack of flavor in the veggie dish and quality of the food .

Salt and pepper shrimp, very good!

First time here, found through yelp research and some Best of Phoenix recommends. Interior pretty nice, more modern than many Chinese restaurants. Older, Asian woman took our drink order, without a hint of friendliness. Started with Veg egg rolls, and sizzling Rice soup. Soup was pretty good. Egg rolls were a nasty mushy texture inside. Was still eating egg roll when server tried to remove last bite and plate. Wife ordered chicken egg Fu Yung. She Describes as fresh, light & very good. Very large portion of chicken. I had the salt & pepper shrimp. Thoroughly enjoyed. Nice size, top quality shrimp. Perfectly cooked crunchy outside! So, we drove an hour to try this mostly well reviewed place. Food was pretty good. Vibe was unenthusiastic, dead! Servers never asked if meal was okay, or if we needed anything, even though there were less than half a dozen tables being served. Impression...uninviting. I think we'll keep looking for the right Chinese restaurant for us.

Visited on a Wednesday evening with my wife and her parents. The restaurant was very clean, spacious, and appropriately lit. Service was friendly and attentive. Parking was a bit busy but we got a spot without any issues. We did not order family style as the in-laws are not vegetarian, however my wife and I shared our two veggie dishes. We started with the veggie egg rolls which were perfectly crisp and hot. We ordered the Asian Veggie Delight (add tofu) and the veggie chow mein. The veggie delight was perfect, saucy, and delicious without being greasy. The chow mein was not our favorite as we prefer drier, but still had a good flavor. The in-laws had the Sizzling Black Pepper Filet Mignon and General Yang's which they both enjoyed thoroughly. Portions were large and we were able to make additional meals out of it! Would 10/10 be back and recommend!

They have complimentary parking in the front, side, and back of the restaurant. There aren't a ton of spots, but there's street parking close by too. Ambiance (3.5/5): Like most Chinese restaurants, China Chili is pretty no frills. Which isn't a problem for me at all, I'm there for the food. It's a spacious restaurant with both regular tables and circular tables that rotates (good for large groups sharing dishes). Service (4/5): Fantastic service is also not something I expect at a Chinese restaurant. Yet again, I'm there for the food. With that being said, service, while not overly friendly, is typically pretty efficient. Which I always appreciate. Drinks (4/5): Pretty much your standard soft drinks, tea, and a limited selection of alcoholic beverages. My favorite option is their buddha beer which you don't see in a lot of places. It's a lager and it's in a buddha-shaped bottle. It doesn't get much better than that. Food (5/5): The first time I came was for one of my favorite dishes... Peking duck. There aren't a ton of spots in Phoenix that have it, but out of the ones that do, China Chili serves it at a high level. You can go with either crepes or baos (additional surcharge). The duck is absolutely to die for. Flavorful, juicy meat with crispy skin that fits in perfectly into your mini "sandwich" with green onions and Hoisin sauce. For a reasonable price too. Their food outside of duck is of a similar quality. I especially like their flat noodles with beef. Even classic dishes like sesame chicken have a twist here. It's sliced chicken rather than fully breaded chicken. Just as good as the typical way, the sauce is delicious. My only complaint? They give you a pretty small helping of white rice with your dish. Outside of that, the portions are generous. Everything I've had at China Chili has been a hit. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

This is the first time I have had Chinese food in some time. I can't say more. Many people there early on Sunday but not overly noisy, they also have take out. My server wrapped my food up nicely to take with me and put in a bag. Quite a nice touch.

It's probably the fanciest Chinese restaurant I've been to in AZ. The lunch menu is excellent and quite impressive! There are 8 entrees to choose along with a side for only $20. What's crazy is that a full size seafood and wagyu beef belly jjampong is a side! They're regularly $24 so it's a crazy deal to get an additional entree!! We ordered seafood jjampong and wagyu beef jjampong as sides and genghis khan beef and chili garlic fried chicken as mains. The jjampong had that great umami taste without the oiliness that's unavoidable at other restaurants. The ingredients felt very premium and fresh. Ghengis khan beef pieces were very generous and tender with a savory sauce. Chili garlic chicken was a tad salty for me but had great crisp. Service was impeccable and one you'd expect from an upscale restaurant. I can't wait to go back to try other dishes from the lunch menu. I also want to try their happy hour that's available everyday from 4-7PM. All the food items are only $7 and variety looks amazing.

We also ordered beer and a whisky drink so we weren't cheap. The food was pretty good. The ticket time on my entree was about 10 minutes but the other two at our table didn't get their food for almost half an hour. No consistency. I may try this place again much earlier in the night.

I visited early in the afternoon - after the lunch rush - but still during the lunch hours. First, the greeting was very unfriendly. The server was distracted conversing with another server and paying little attention to our order. Absolutely zero friendliness. I felt I was an intruder! I ordered a Diet Coke. It was horrible. Obviously, the syrup was low so I had basically unflavored carbonated water. I had the lunch special for General Zso chicken. Zero taste. The egg roll was uninspiring. The egg drop soup was mediocre- at best. And, the entire restaurant was freezing. It was 110+ degrees outside. So, a cool place is welcomed. And I like the temperature cool - like, my home thermostats are set between 70 and 72 in the summer. But, the temperature in the restaurant was much, much colder. Simply, unpleasant experience. I left without eating my lunch. I had a taste of the Diet Coke, a bite of the chicken, a bite of the egg roll - and nothing else. This place made my list! (Of do not return)... and, I am on a continued search for a good Asian restaurant in the Phoenix area.

Quite a lot of food and for a very reasonable price! I think the combo was around $10. If you are a fan of bean sprouts, this is your place. The chow mein had a massive pile of beansprouts on top. The noodles were indeed crispy but they was such a meager portion compared to the beansprouts. The fried rice was pretty basic but also a generous portion and the two tempura shrimp had a nice crispy batter. I tried some of the eggroll too which is one of the most unique versions I've had since the super crispy outer layer was either a different preparation or different wrap material than I'm used to. The interior was made primarily of beansprouts too. Service was good. Our food was prepared fairly quickly.

The fact that the restaurant was very close to our Airbnb, and did not require a reservation also felt like a sign to make the visit. The spot is definitely trendy, and parking was tricky. Uber/Lyft would be my recommendation, but there is a paid parking garage down a couple of streets. We didn't need a reservation since we had a small party, but I would recommend if if you're coming with a party of four or more. We sat at the bar and ordered four dishes from different categories, which was a great way to sample the menu; though honestly I think we probably could have gotten away with just 3 dishes for a party of 2. We tried Yam Mamuang Boran (old-style green mango salad), Boo Pad Pong Garee (crab curry with ginger), Tom Yum Haeng Sen Yai (dry tom yum with wide noodles), and Naem Khao Tot (crispy rice salad with fermented pork sausage). The noodles and salad were definitely my favorite though everything was seasoned really well and incredibly flavorful. What I loved most was how thoughtfully prepared everything felt. The restaurant has a really sincere, home-style feel, and you can tell the food is rooted in tradition while still feeling special and elevated. It was the perfect final meal for our trip, and I'd definitely come back again.

The biggest disappointment was the Arai Kodai menu option, where the kitchen selects the dishes for you. Unfortunately, the selections felt pretty average. We were served Tom Kha Gai (a creamy coconut soup), Kaeng Phet Charindia (a red curry), Papaya Salad, and Scallop Crudo. While everything was well-executed, none of the dishes felt particularly unique or showcased why Lom Wong has such a great reputation. Honestly, it's the kind of meal I could find at a good neighborhood Thai restaurant. The other downside was the pacing. Being to Thailand many many times, this is nothing we have experienced. We had barely received our drinks and taken a single sip, when immediately every dish hit the table all at once. Instead of feeling like a curated dining experience, it felt rushed and a bit stressful trying to juggle multiple dishes plus our drink: Karaoke king (which would have been good if I had a second to enjoy it) Overall, it was still a nice meal and great atmosphere on par with other Thai restaurants. My advice: skip the chef's selection and order à la carte. Just be prepared for the food to come out quickly and all at once.

Amazing Restaurant!…read more All amazing people of Phoenix, if you have not gone to this phenomenal restaurant yet, you really need to. This is one convenient, high quality, extremely flavorful Chinese place that me and my husband visited today. It was just high quality all the way! When we arrived it was quiet. Superbly clean, neat and tidy. Cute decor and a nice inviting vibe. We were sat at a table and given our menus. Prices were really good. Especially when you get the quality of food that comes out of that kitchen. Our waitress was super-nice. Which is hard to find these days. She was so nice to everyone who came in. When we sat down, a lady who wasn't too sure about the place came in asking all kinds of questions. And she patiently answered each one as if she was a close family member. A homeless guy came in asking for water. She jumped right up to give him a HUGE cup of ice and water and was so kind to him. Then other patrons came in to order and pick up food and each one, regardless of age, ethnic makeup, what they were wearing, all were greeted so warmly. Huge smiles and a constant giving and warm attitude all throughout. We were treated just as good. And for us that is very rare. We ordered a lot of various things. A cold cucumber salad, a hot appetizer, a couple of main dishes. Then the absolute most amazing signature steak on the Chef's Speciality. WOW. The salad and appetizers came out first. Salad really cold and refreshing. Super crisp and cut nicely. Amazing flavor. Then the appetizers were super hot and fresh. Not oily. Bursting with flavor. Then the mains came. Everything cooked perfectly. The flavors of each dish just screaming at my taste buds. Enjoyed every bite. Then they brought out the steak for my husband. So juicy. So tender. And the sauce in the side just added to the flavor. We savored every bite. The quality and temperatures and flavors are off the chart. We could not finish all this bliss in one sitting, se we asked for boxes and containers. She gave us many to separate everything and a bag to haul it home in. Always asking if we needed anything else and being authentically polite. This place should be packed. You are missing out if you have not tried New Hong King Restaurant. Amazing service. Traditional Mongolian beef usually has onions, and mine didn't have any. The flavors were really good, though the beef was a little on the salty side. Not so salty that it was inedible, but definitely something where you'll want a sip of water with each bite. Overall, still a good spot with great soups, fair prices, and a nice atmosphere.
