This is a hidden gem on the far south side! It's not the most highly decorated Chinese restaurant I've been to but the food is by far the best I've had in this area!! I had the Crab Rangoon appetizer - amazing is all I can say about that!! Then I chose the Sweet & sour chicken combination dinner and it was fantastic! I asked for vegetable fried rice instead of the typical fried rice and it was great!! They have a great Sunday combo special and the people were very friendly, which made for a great overall experience! I give a 2 star simply because the food is good! It's a bit greasier, but overall I think it has a good flavor. Anyways, I don't understand why the lady on the phone is so rude every time. I called in an order, I was rushed the whole process and then wasn't told how long it would take. I had to call back to get the time for the order. When I stopped in to pay for the food the customer service in person isn't any better. I must've interrupted her dinner. After I paid and she stuck my food outside of their window and went straight back to eating. I didn't get a "have a good night." "Thank you for stopping in" nothing. China Dragon is ok. I've had the Kung Pao Chicken, the Szechuan Chicken, and the Curry Chicken. While the Kung Pao was great, both the Szechuan and the Curry were terrible. The common denominator is a super poor quality chicken. It's either way undercooked or just poor quality. It's always chewy and slightly slimy. To be fair, I really enjoyed the Kung Pao Chicken but after two super poor experiences I don't think I'll return. Esp. considering there are many other good Chinese places in Indy/Gwood area. read more

I usually think most Chinese food places taste the same because they are catering to our bland American taste buds but China Dragon actually seasons their food and you can even ask them to make any of their combo meals spicer, which is awesome!!!!! Very disappointed with service! We ordered dinner and when it was delivered the rice that came with the meal was nowhere to be found. This being a staple of the meal, I called the restaurant. I was put on hold for nearly 5 minutes. When I told them what had happened she said "sorry, but we're busy and it would be 45 minutes to bring it out". I find this unacceptable. She said that I could "just wait until next time". I informed her there would be no next time. She offered a 1.50 refund, but this did not satisfy that half our meal was missing. We even gave the driver a $6.00 tip. Ridiculous. Last time we ordered the noodles for the soup were missing. If you don't mind not getting what you pay for, then they are great. read more

There are much better tasting options in the area for less money. No bean sprouts in the fired rice and onion was kinda raw. Upon arrival the cashier is a skinny white guy with tattoos and an attitude. Two Chinese women are cooking on the line. It is located next to an indoor smoke shop so the place smells of Tobacco products and the food has a taste of stale smoke. Overall not the worst but no rich flavor. Worth about $5.95 QT not $8.50. I'm giving a 2 star review, because we've had good service and food here in the past, however the treatment we received tonight was appalling. We placed a delivery order at 6:30 pm, at 7:30 pm our order arrived. We paid, tipped, and opened up the bag to discover that they forgot one of our rice portions and that the vegetable dish we ordered (broccoli with garlic sauce) was filled with chicken. When I called to see if they could correct it I was told that "we could just keep it, they were really busy so wouldn't be able to replace it." I said that wasn't really okay, I would really rather have food with the rest of my group that was eating. ( I don't eat chicken). The guy on the phone hemmed and hawed and finally said he would send someone to pick it up and swap it for the correct dish but since they were busy it would be a really long time. Two hours later, I called and asked if I would be receiving an order or if I should just make alternate plans. I was told the delivery girl was just a couple minutes away. FIFTY minutes after that I called again. This time I was told that they were never going to deliver my order, they had expected me to pick it up. I said that wasn't true, as I specifically told the guy that I wasn't able to drive over and swap it out and he told me it would be a while since the delivery driver was busy. We've placed many, many orders here over the past couple years but will never be ordering again. Mistakes happen and I understand that. I've owned a cafe for over 10 years now. When I make a mistake, that order is bumped to the front of the line and corrected immediately. I wouldn't dream of telling a customer that I was too busy to fix my mistake. I will say that they offered me first a $10, then a $20 credit on my final phone call but at that point I was done and told the guy so. To have no one call me, no delivery show up and generally be given the run around for almost 4 hours is just ridiculous. read more

China Dragon is a pretty sweet little place. I got a menu on my door when they first opened so I thought I'd check it out the next time I wanted Chinese. Since then, I've been back at least half a dozen times and I haven't been disappointed yet. The prices are decent and you get quite a bit of food for your money...I've had leftovers a few times and they reheated fine, unlike some restaurants' stuff. We've always gotten delivery and haven't actually dined in, but the food is pretty awesome. With our orders we usually quality for the free crab rangoon, which is by far some of the best crab rangoon that we've ever had. If you are like me and think that Indianapolis is lacking in good Chinese restaurants, I encourage you to head to Greenwood and check this place out. Though sometimes Chinese places where you order right of the menu are intimidating, I didn't feel that way here. The women at the counter were very friendly and understanding of my indecisiveness! I ended up getting the General Tso's combo, which is a heaping pile of chicken, pork fried rice, and an egg roll. The chicken's sauce was a little more sweet than I like mine to be but the rice was phenomenal. I also sampled the lo mein my partner got and it was probably the best I've had since moving to the area! The cost adds up quickly if you order sides, but the combo seemed fairly priced to me for the large portions. Do wish they had a fountain pop machine, but that's not a big deal of course. read more

Me and my friend picked this place because it was 930pm and most places closed at 10. It had good reviews. I ordered general Taos combo and they ordere shrimp lo-mein. We dinned In and portions were pretty big. The crab Rangoon was pretty good too. My rice was very blan, chicken was crispy but the sauce didn't really have taste. The lo-mein noodles tasted over cooked and watered down. We were disappointed and didn't even finish our food. I'm not from that side of town but I definitely won't be eating there again. read more

I'm giving 2 stars because the food has always been good, delivered promptly, and I've never had an incorrect order. That being said, I can honestly say that after this evening, I will not be returning. I am a college student working full time, going to school full time, and living away from home. On late nights, China Dragon has been my go-to for delivery. My mom allows me to order food under her name from time to time, simply because she understands my struggle. The past two times I have done this, both the delivery driver AND the woman taking my order have questioned me and my payment validity. The delivery driver tonight asked me to call my mother so he could confirm that I was allowed to use her information for payment. Now, I can understand identity theft and card fraud, and I can appreciate them taking steps against it. But, I have been a loyal customer for nearly a year and have NEVER had a payment default. The people working there literally KNOW me and my order. If I were some random Joe-Schmo I could understand. But to treat a loyal customer with suspicion is, to me, extremely rude and uncalled for. Both times this has happened, the delivery driver has stood with his hand against my door refusing to allow me to close it. This whole thing has been extremely unsettling. When I order food, I DO NOT want to be made to feel as if I am doing something wrong. Like I said, good food in the past, but not good enough for me to put up with THAT. read more
