Careful, Irvine locations for Dimsum is always more expensive elsewhere. For the price you pay here, you can get double the amount of food in Garden Grove. Decided to get dimsum for lunch Saturday (which I don't recommend) and ordered 5 things but ended up paying $30. Majority of their plates are in B and C categories, which are roughly $5 or $6 PER PLATE. Other than the prices, you can expect to find only 3 carts going around during lunch on Saturdays. If you don't want to look for a specific plate, ask for a dimsum menu and order off of the server. read more

Very disappointed with the service and the food is not good. They may have changed ownership, food in general was bad, the price is much higher than before. Some of the staff members were rude especially the guy who sits behind the cash register. I gave them a smaller tip because they over charged me for the tea (charged more people than actual # ), food was bad, especially the spring roll - one bite and done. Never going back there again. Not the best dim sum in the world but probably the best in this part of Irvine! There was no wait for a weekday dim sum brunch/lunch but it did fill up as it got closer to 12:30pm. I came with a friend who speaks Chinese so I feel like we were well taken care of but I totally agree with others that, if you don't speak Chinese, this would be a very difficult place. We've been here a total of 4x. Service has been ok x3. Today by far has been the worse they were extremely rude and did not let anyone know that dim sum is ending at 2. There was several angry faces along with ours. To top it off no one came back to offer any Togo boxes or even tally up our check. We could have literally walked out. We are not those kind of people. We even had to wait at the cashier counter to pay as no one wanted to help us cause all the workers are all eating. The dim sum here is decent that's why we come back. Honestly it's just okay. Wouldn't want to go out of my way to eat dim sum again here. The service is okay, it's very hard to wave someone down for some help but once you can they'll get you what you need. Overall the prices of the dishes are pricey compared to the quality of the food. Came here on a Monday during lunch hour. Just the wife and I so we were able to get seated right away. Nothing pretty, just an ordinary Chinese restaurant with dim sum carts circulating the tables. The food was decent and yes, if anyone is wondering, the service BLOWS chunks. As someone who's Chinese, it's painful seeing the people working here propagating the bad mannered surly Chinese stereotype. They're not as bad as the Hop Sing Chinese delivery guy from that episode of Seinfeld where Elaine gets her communist boyfriend blacklisted because she named names or the Korean shop clerks from Menace II Society but they need to work on customer service, especially the guy who's manning the register and working the front. This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in the Irvine area. We were giving up hope in looking for good and authentic Canton dishes until we went to China Garden. Service was excellent, all the wait staff and even busboys were very attentive and friendly, we got our table immediately. The roasted duck was fabulous - juicy and flavorful and skin was crispy! Irvine doesn't really have much option for authentic dim sum so after researching & asking around friends, this is the best Dim Sum place near our place. The food is ok, the chicken feet & small ribs are really good, other than that most food is just mediocre at best. What really made me give it 2-star is its horrendous service. As a Chinese I know very well that in most of the cases, good service is not something you'll get in an authentic, well-known dim sum restaurant. But this place is just straight up horrible, everyone from the manager to some of the servers is so rude. We called to ask how long is the wait, the guy told us "I don't know. No one knows. You have to be physically here to know how long it's gonna be." I was really confused and told him patiently & nicely, we were really close by, then he got mad and said "how am I supposed to know how many people will arrive during that time??" It gets worse when we got there: the manager at the front told us "20-30 minute wait", so my friend and I went to a cosmetic store, literally just next door, for about 10 minutes only because we didn't want to miss our place. When we got back in & asked how much longer it'll be, the manager went very impatient & started complaining again "I already called your number! I called several times! You guys not here! That was couple minutes ago! Several times ok?" Ok, sorry that we're such a big trouble for your business because we had a few questions and we always tried to ask them nicely & politely. My elderly parents were in need of water so we had to pull out our own water bottle because twiddle Dee and twiddle dumb we're on their phones. Then, when I went to pay my $50 bill for 3 items, (don't get me started on that) the cashier was doing what? Take a wild guess. Yup! He was playing games on his phone. I stood literally right in front of him for a few minutes, cleared my throat to get his attention, and he said "hold on". It wasn't until I said "well, I guess I don't have to pay" and started to walk away that he finally gave me his full attention. This place is horrible. I have been here twice in one month. The earlier visit was actually my first time coming to this business. And the second time was 2 days ago, Sunday. My first visit here was with several friends. We were seated in the corner of the restaurant where no one attends to. Just our luck. Based off the waiters face when we put an order down for water...I'm guessing they have to walk couple hundred miles to the nearest well, get 2 buckets worth, put it on their shoulders and walk all the way back. Well maybe they don't but I won't forget our waiters face when my friend simply asked for waters all around. He seemed like he had to do just that. The food took an insane amount of time to get to our table. So much so that my friend got up, went to one of the guys who looked like a manager (shirt & tie guys) and requested we get some kind of service to our table. I think this gentleman felt bad because he noticed there wasn't a single dim sum cart in our area. The only thing we had was our beloved well-pitched waters and tea. Even with my friends knowing the language and placing our orders, they had the most difficult time with the employees. "It's as if no one wants to work here" I remember my friend saying. And surely enough, those words carried onto the next visit as well. This past Sunday was and is my final visit to this horrid mess of a place. It was me and 2 friends this time. We were seated in a private room to the right of entrance. This visit seemed to start off decent (keyword: seemed) due to the fact that we got seated quickly and received beverages in a timely fashion. That wasn't the problem, the massive problem was having a dim-sum cart to stroll by. Which is near impossible in this case. The setup in the restaurant is as following: the kitchen in the back, seating in the middle, and the private room in the front. No food would make it to the front, which is understandable because there are hungry people. But why even seat people in an area where they won't be seen? Why even make that room available. Just makes the business look bad because the people won't be attended to and serviced. I remember every single thing by the minute because of the fact that I had work within 2 hours when I first arrived. And I can mention that even with 1 hour and 15 minutes going by, we were still starving because we had NO carts going through this area. The final decision maker was none of this though. I swear none of this even bothered me because I am so used to dim sum being a time consuming thing and not receiving service. Roland heights dim sum as well as din tai fung are time consuming locations. Even getting a seat takes hours in some cases. The deciding factor was the fact that I had an enormous worm in my food. Yup. A worm. And that's the only thing that made me unhappy and motivated me to write this review. Not the timeliness, not the service, but simply the cleanliness. I am including a photo of the beast in this review. But the worst part is not the worm. But how the restaurant handled this case. It honestly made me so sad. When the time came for the bill, I decided to quietly tell the person that there was a massive worm in my food (showing my plate/worm). The person said they'd be back momentarily and have to mention it to the manager (taking the plate as proof). The manager never came out to speak with us. It was a girl who had shoulder-short bleached blonde hair and had a super loud & raised voice. She seemed extremely aggravated and distressed prior to even speaking with us. All that was offered to us is that we can take off that order from our check. As if nothing happened. As if the food that we ate was okay. And that this is a normal reoccurring thing and it's our fault for pointing it out. I was super...duper...stunned. I didn't say anything but "uhh okay, yeah sure.." And my friends flipped out on me. Shocked that I just let it go and that I didn't say anything else regarding of the food or bill. But what was I suppose to do? I didn't know. But in a chat room full of friends, I posted the picture and they were even angrier of how things were handled. In a case like this, I think the best thing to do is what I'm doing right now. Inform others of my visit and use the power of word-of-mouth. The cherry on top was the manager (who is a short gentleman at the front desk, slicked back hair and younger face,apparently named Robert?) checking out the girl we came in with by staring at her boobs/butt while she walked out. Oh how badly I wanted to say he was a disgusting man, but his height speaks for itself. He must have a challenge getting women and the only good part of his day was probably seeing the beauty walking out. The reviews are atrocious and speaks for itself. Anyone who gave it more than 3 stars was either paid off or came when it wasn't busy and received good service with food that was readily available. Worst service I've ever experienced! Very rude server, and it takes forever to order a food from their carts

It's been 4 years since I last came here. I heard they had changed owners and that the food is good now, which is why I ended my boycott and decided to give them another try. Oh dear lord. I don't even know where to begin. The dim sum was just as bad as before, if not worse. Everything was tasteless except the seen juk guen (bean curd sheet rolls) which were actually better than the ones at Capital Seafood. Tripe was bland, chicken's feet were bland, lo bak go (radish cake) wasn't even pan fried properly, all mushy and cold. Some other dim sum also were cold. The 'ja leung' -- the Chinese crullers rolled with cheung fun noodles -- were cold and they did such a piss poor job of rolling I had to re-roll it before eating. Too much cheung fun noodles and they served it with hoisin sauce. When I asked where the real sauce is, the lady THEN went to the kitchen and got me some. Who the hell eats ja leung with hoisin sauce? It was so bad my son asked if we could go to Capital Seafood after we left.
