Honestly ... I've been getting salt n pepper prawns & occasionally chow mein from here for years. I've NEVER had a problem with the service or the way the food tastes. I probably visit at least every other week! Ive never dined in & it's always been to-go but I have ZERO complaints. Not good anymore. This used to be our go-to Chinese food place. Yesterday ordered take-out 2 lunch items. Got home and found a lot of rice but little of the entree items. Photo is attached. They are skimping on the chicken and instead giving more steamed rice. Why does one need extra rice? I ordered eggplant chicken in which there was hardly any chicken. And their lunch prices have also gone way up which is understandable but please do not fool your customers by cutting corners on the quantity of food. Not going back. read more

Always quick and food comes out just right! I know some folks mention about their service over the phone, but they're either so busy sometimes or could be cultural differences. I don't think they're intentionally trying to be rude, they're direct but I've never had my order wrong and I like to skip the small talk when ordering anyways. ‍ I've seen an improvement in their service lately so for local folks, maybe give them another try. Let me start off by saying "I love Chinese food," I will go great distances to check out a Chinese restaurant, so here's my thoughts on China House... Pros: 1. They have a very good egg roll! I usually don't judge a Chinese restaurant until I have tasted their egg rolls or spring rolls! 2. The prices of China House is very comparable to other Chineses restaurants in the area. 3. They have some decent dishes, some were good and some just bad. Cons: 1. Ok, now main concern, why is everything sticky! Why are the salt and pepper dispensers sticky! Damn tables are sticky! I told the lady, I need a non-sticky table, she gave me this sinister look! 2. Just gonna say, if you are a Chineses restaurant, you better know how to cook Kung Pow chicken! The Kung Pow was horrible! Plus only had like 2-3 pieces of chicken and whole sh** load of veggies! 3. In a restaurant, food quality and safety are number one! My dish had a hair in it! I told the lady and she said it's your hair!? I said no it's not, she said yes your hair. Ok no point in this, SMH, with an extra WTF. 4. Customer service is key, this place doesn't have any towards, how can say this politely, other cultures! Reason why I say this, because the lady said "this food not for you, maybe you try others food" me with a puzzled look on my face and I was thinking of a famous line to say, but didn't say it "brick don't hit back." I just called to place an order for pickup. First off, when I called, the person answered with "China House, what do you want to order". I thought that was an off way to answer and certainly more curt than they have been in the past. This person didn't have an accent so I thought it was someone new as opposed to the usual folks who answer. I gave him our appetizer order, and he repeated it back followed by "anything else?" I thought hmm, people don't usually ask that unless it's the end of the order. So I thought, well, maybe I'm supposed to say my whole order at once. So then I responded with my 4 additional items (at a reasonable speed, mind you). He repeated just my 2nd item and asked "anything else"? I then thought hmm, maybe he didn't hear the rest? So then I repeated the remaining 3 items. Again, he said only the 1st of those with "anything else?" Ok, by now I'm getting the pattern! So I say the 4th item, and pause for his response. He repeats that item back to me but doesn't say anything else. So I take my queue and say my 5th item followed by "and that's it". He says "ok so 4 items?" I say, "no, there should be 5 items." Then... DRUM ROLL PLEASE...... He says "well, that's what happens when you talk too fast." WTF!?!? So, I said, "never mind, I don't want to order anything". Sigh... I hate to cut them out of our restaurant rotation because we do love their food and they've always been so kind. But I just can't believe someone would talk that way. :( read more

This mom and pop take out has been a favorite of ours for several years when we want a hearty meal of Chinese food. Yes, the food is your typical for the country it represents and not gourmet but I assure you the helpings are generous, the service at the window is fine and the easy ordering through grub hub for pickup or delivery is convenient. We usually order the family dinner for two or three. It is always piping hot when we pick it up and usually enjoy a couple more meals because they give us so much food. I always go for the lunch special: 1 entree, rice or chow mein, spring rolls or wontons and soup. I usually get the Szechwan prawns with fried rice, and they have the best hot and sour soup. It's so good I'd give this place my Olympic gold medals for the soup alone, but I can't give China any USA medals I'm team USA all the way! They also give free tea every time you come in, and a fortune cookie at the end of the meal. They do serve chili peppers in their food which are very SPICY! My family and I have been coming here for years. Not only is it really close to my Grandmas house, it has the very best Tomato Beef Chow Mein I've ever had! I dont know why its so good here. But this dish is always super fresh and moist. A must whenever my family does take out. We also really like their lunch specials. Pretty cheap for a decent amount of food. One of the best Chinese restaurants in the Pinole area, if you ask me. They've been around for years and their food is super good and you get pretty good portions! Ok I have to admit that their service may not Always be the greatest but at least they serve you water and tea fairly quickly when you're dining in! And their food doesn't take hours to prepare. Recently ordered the Dragon & Phoenix Bird's nest, sweet and sour pork and beef chow fun. All delicious dishes! My dad loves - and I mean Loves - their Peking Duck! I personally don't like duck (not a fan of dark meat) but take the crispy skin of this dish, put it in the steamed bun, add some slivers of scallion and dip it in the plum sauce. YUMMMM. If you enjoy duck meat, I guarantee you'll become a fan of this dish. Another thing I love about this place is you can request No MSG in any of their dishes!
