I took the 3 little kids (7,5,1.5) to lunch after working out and prior to grocery shopping. We ate in a welcoming environment, and enjoyed every dish. I ordered conservatively; 2 lunches (chicken and brocolli & orange chicken)) for the 3 kids and a spicy lunch special for myself (kung Pao chicken) The server offered me hot and sour soup because I expressed interest in spicy dishes. It was exotic and spicy; mushrooms, tofu, dark broth....delicious, and spicy! She offered seconds. But we were enticed when she suggested pot stickers. Their potstickers are not from Costco. They are beautiful, gingery, flavorful, served with a rich, spicy sauce. The kids devoured them......I fought for a second, but failed. They two older kids wanted to give a tip because they loved it so much. The baby just wanted more pot stickers and Dr pepper. I plan to return to experience one of the daily fish specials. After year of passing by this place I finally gave it a try for lunch. I arrived around 12:30 and the place was empty. This restaurant is on the smaller side maybe six booths. As soon as I walked in the door I was greeted by a man behind the counter who was ready to take my order. I told him it was my first time that I've been here and I need to check out the menu before ordering. He then just turn around and continue doing what he was doing when I walked in the door. I decided to go with the lunch special number 8 chicken with vegetables and fried rice in an order of hot and sour soup. I asked him if it was possible for me to substitute the fried rice with Charmaine and he said yes but it would cost an additional dollar fifty. The special itself was already $6.99 with an additional dollar fifty I didn't think it was worth it. I'm very spoiled coming from Sacramento where you could go anywhere and get Chinese food from $6 to $7 for a huge amount of tasty flavorful Chinese food ( also they give you so much food you could make two meals out of it). Anyways back to my conversation with the guy behind the counter... he told me it be ready in 5 minutes so I walked out to my car to wait. After the 5 minutes were up I went back in and some lady was behind the counter who right away started to ring me up no greeting no hello nothing she just asked him what I had and rung me up and told me what my total was. I handed her my credit card and then asked if I could have a little container of sweet and sour for my eggroll. Again no conversation nothing handed me my food and I went on my merry way. Got home took a couple bites couldn't believe the quanity was so snall and so flavorless. The egg roll itself consists of cabbage, the fried rice was just fried rice nothing like peas or carrots or anything..nothing just rice! The chicken I could seriously count how many pieces of chicken how many pieces of vegetables. Well I gave this place a try I will not come back. In the only reason why I gave two stars is my broccoli was not mushy it was nice and crunchy. read more

Each time we eat here it is delicious and the staff are so friendly. We ordered way too much food this time and they were worried we did not like it. It was great. House fried rice was filled with Shrimp, beef, onions, and was very tasty. I love the . "General's Chicken" and of course the egg rolls. The staff is awesome here; they're so nice and welcoming! The food I would say is a solid B. The only critique I have is to rely far less on the fish oil. I can taste it in the chow mein, the vegetables, everything. The one dish I will never get again is the sesame chicken. One of my favorite places to eat in the NW Reno area! When ordering, delivery is usually my goto option and it's always here within a short amount of time. I have picked up my order on a few occasions too and the cashiers were very welcoming and nice.. The Sesame Chicken and Crab Rangoons are my most favorited items, ChowFun is great too. My family and I got home one evening so we decided instead of cooking dinner to order out from China kitchen. We ordered several different chicken dishes such as orange chicken sweet-and-sour chicken and an appetizer that contained chicken as well. They delivered the food and when we went and opened everything up the chicken was not even chicken, all of it was pork and dried out old pork. The appetizer was chicken, however it was shriveled up in it it seemed as if we have got the leftovers that had been sitting around in the restaurant all night. I found it disgusting and outrageous that they would serve that to anyone. I will not be ordering anything from this place again! read more

Well it did what I needed for Chinese food. We had veggie chow mein, king pao chicken and veggie fried rice. Hubby wasn't a fan so we aren't going back. The last Chinese place I ate at (still need to do a review) was gross and I couldn't finish it so I was content enough but it's not my favorite... chicken wasn't spicy enough for hubby. I love this place! The new owners of the China Kitchen are incredibly friendly, helpful and the food they serve is the best I have had in Reno. My first visit I ordered the General Chicken, Shrimp Fried Rice and the Kung Pao Chicken. It was perfect!!! The flavor and spices were just right. This is a must visit dinning experience. I took my son here for lunch this past Friday and arrived to find a small restaurant that has nearly no atmosphere, piles of paint cans by the door, and a deserted register. I was about to leave when I heard voices, peaked around the soda cooler, and noted a table with four guys. Since the place was supposedly open we ventured further inside and browsed the menu. A woman appeared from the back and asked if we'd like to order. She did not say hello, did not ask if we'd been there before, etc. We ordered two lunch specials and drinks. She asked if we would like to eat there or to-go. I answered "We'll eat here, please." and inquired about drink choices. She pointed to the previously mentioned cooler - no fountain drinks here, just cans of soda and bottles of Walmart water. We took a seat at a table to wait for our food. While we waited for our food two other people came in and ordered food for dining in. Our food was delivered to us in styrofoam boxes. I asked if we could please have plates and the woman rudely replied, "I put it in boxes so you can go." I explained that we wanted to share our lunches to which the woman said, "Oh," then walked away. Every single other person in that restaurant was given food on a plate. A real plate. The only difference: I had a kid with me. WTF lady? my kid is well behaved and uses his manners well. I am polite and friendly. There was no reason for her hostility. I wanted to rip her Hello Kitty apron off her as she clearly has no concept of what HK represents. HK is all about "Super Cute Friendship" (yeah, I am a total HK dork) and this woman knows nothing about courtesy or respecting the customer. Aside from the food being no better than what you get at a mall food court (honestly, evenPanda Express is better than this place), the crap service alone will keep me from ever returning to China Kitchen. No extra napkins provided, no chopsticks offered, and fortune cookies were given to the other tables but not us. read more

The picture made it look like a nice deep fried golden brown and crispy.....definitely not what I got. It was more like soggy red bread on shrimp and the flavor was horrible. We didn't even eat it :(. Plus when we were there the owners were arguing in Chinese but I could tell what they were arguing about.....my egg rolls cuz they were pointing at them and then said sweet and sour!!! Really really good and fresh! I love the fact that they dont use the stupid food delivery company that up charges everything. I also called 15 min before close and they still took my delivery order that was super awesome. Mongolian beef was great as well as the the kung poa chicken and shrimp fried rice. I also ordered the salt and pepper prawns the only complaint is they were whole head and all but they were still really good just too much work so next time i will remember to tell them no beuno on the whole shrimp :p read more
